This is a special place, y'all. It's been hard, generally speaking, to find the positives, but some businesses have really shown up and out and have adapted to current times. I'm happy to say Dimo's is one of them. Donuts are necessarily a dime a dozen in this town, I came from a place where Dunkin Donuts was on every other corner, but as I have gotten to experience MI, I've really come to appreciate smaller businesses.
I've been lucky not to burden myself or parter with my cravings, (do what you will with that information), but since we were out and about I thought it might be HIGH TIME to get some Donuts. We wanted a new experience and some good Donuts, so I settled on Dimo's as it is on our side of town.
Solid decision! Why? because when we got there, everyone and almost everything was behind glass. The staff is kind, courteous, and about their business. We quickly ordered a half dozen from the back, which is behind the staff, and then I saw that there was breakfast.
I haven't had a decent bagel since I left the city, so yes, I will take a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on a garlic bagel, sir. I have good TASTE. Then someone decided they ALSO wanted an Apple Fritter, from the front glass section, where higher-end possibly more labor-intensive donuts sit, like bowties, and donuts of the log variety.
The total came to about $14-15 dollars, we were then asked to wait in the closed dining area, and within 3-4 minutes I had my bagel sandwich and away we went.
We went with 2 Glazed, 2 Cinnamon Powdered, One Maple Frosted, and One Vanilla frosted and after my bacon, egg, and cheese, I took a glazed, and it was literally like eating a sweet cloud, absolutely delicious and with a perfect texture.
I will absolutely be meeting my donut and breakfast needs at this shop as long as they're open. Just a great neighborhood spot and I'm happy to have experienced it because it certainly has been a while.
