Mexico City’s Only Michelin-Starred Taqueria Is Popping-Up in Chicago - Eater Chicago

"Dimo’s Pizza, the slice shop that late-night eaters and vegan food lovers — like Lizzo — may have flamed out in Lincoln Square by experimenting with a new format and menu, under the Dimo’s Cafe banner. However, owners are not leaving the space at 4747 N. Lincoln Avenue and plan to convert the cafe into a slice shop. Dimo’s Pizza in Lincoln Square should open on November 1." - Ashok Selvam

Where to Find Thin-Crust Pizza in Chicago

"Dimo’s has always been a friend to vegans and vegetarians with its pizza-by-the-slice shops in Wrigleyville and Wicker Park. But the New York-style shop, a spinoff of Madison, Wisconsin’s Ian’s Pizza (where they popularized macaroni and cheese pies), has grabbed the attention of megastar Lizzo. Look, Dimo’s is a reliable spot for a late-night snack with fun toppings. There’s a new cafe location on Lincoln with an expanded menu." - Eater Staff

Google
Atmosphere was warm, very positive vibes. The woman who served us was super friendly and helpful Terrific pizza range on the menu. As for the pizza experience, we both had the gluten free pizza bases, and thought they were very hard, and far from doughy. The ricotta cheese was amazing though. Overall, a great experience, just don’t be gluten free! 😆

Google
I have been ordering Dimo via delivery for a few years, usually from the wicker park location. I love their pizza, especially the delicious chewy crust. It’s a little pricey but it’s tasty pizza. I’ve also had their vegan options and find them delicious. Really awesome they have so many options. With my last order I got a 16 oz containers of ranch and a 16 oz container of vegan ranch. They came in deli containers and seemed light to me. After measuring I confirmed they were both about 12 oz. Hoping it’s a mistake and not a shady practice

Google
Dominos is much better. My first thought when I eat this pizza. It is nothing to write home about and at $5 a slice I feel like I should have. It’s my second time here and both are average at best.

Google
This place has never disappointed. The pizza here is well worth the price and wait.

Google
I order 2 pizza for delivery and they send me both burnt pizza try to contact them some worker guy pick up the call and they said u can talk to manager and disconnect the call one of worst place to order pizza they are here to stealing money

Google
The people here are really friendly :) The pizza itself had good flavor and the crust was a nice chewy texture, solid NY style. Unfortunately, the sausage was not good - had an off taste that let down the rest of the pizza. Love that they offer so many different toppings by the slice. I would return to try another one without sausage.

Google
i love dimos! love that they have gluten free options, everything is very good and doesn’t feel too heavy at all. cute vibes inside, friendly staff and good music. pics are of the gluten free margherita pizza :)

Google
Dimo’s was delicious! I loved the decor in the space; particularly the lights by the bar and the orange circular art piece on the wall. It is also in a lovely spot in Lincoln Square; it is great to walk around the area afterwards. I appreciated that they had reasonably-priced mocktails and non-alcoholic drink options; there were a few Dry January specials, but it seems to be something offered year round. We tried the smoked cauliflower, which was fairly good, but the highlight was the pizza slices. The pizza slices were delicious and a good bang for your buck. I had the White Pie and the Speck Di Luna, which I realized are pretty similar, but the latter has more ingredients piled on it, including arugula, pineapple, and speck. My friend had an issue with her pizza slice—they accidentally gave her pizza with dairy when she ordered a vegan one—but it was remedied by the staff. Overall, I had a good experience, and I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Grabbed a pizza to go after my massage in the area! Immediately I loved the vibe inside! Looks like a chill place to hangout and eat with friends. Their menu is cool. They have unique pizza combos so it was hard to choose one. Ended up choosing the Speck di Luna because I love arugula. Great choice! And the pineapple adds a nice touch.

Yelp
Today I tried Dimo's Pizza for the first time. The restaurant was clean, well-lit, and had ample seating. I loved how it was family friendly yet still had a full bar for grown up fun! The staff were super friendly and attentive. Our pizza came out quick! I enjoyed a slice of the buff chick while the rest of my table split a a Mac and Cheese pizza. I will def be back for another slice this summer!

Yelp
This place is a great vibe overall. We were strolling by when the scent caught us first, and then I realized that I had this place saved to visit. We finished our walk and returned to the restaurant. They have a lot of vegan/ plant-based pizza options; I was elated to have such a variety to choose from. We ordered the 12inch Vegan Stamets; house mushroom medley on a marinara and vegan mozzarella base, topped with roasted red peppers, housemade vegan burrata, and fresh basil. It was delicious! I can't wait until our next visit, so I can try some other pizzas. This spot has a bar too; we didn't partake in this visit, but likely on another. The vibe was cozy and we loved the holiday decorations.

Yelp
Service was fast and pretty friendly. We ordered the white pizza and it was delicious if not a little undercooked; tasted better when re-heated the next day. The Caesar Salad looked a little old so that was a bit of a turn off. But the restaurant was clean and chill. Would take home a pizza from this location next time and make my own salad.

Yelp
Last time I was at Dimo's was like 15 years ago when they were called Ian's. I liked how they make pizzas that are just other kinds of dishes thrown on top of pizza dough then, and I still like it now. I'm very much not a pizza purist and love to see what people think is appropriate to put on top of a big circle of dough. Appropriately, we order the buffalo chicken pizza. It tastes for all the world like an order of buffalo wings with blue cheese sauce. Nitpicks: not enough blue cheese and the chicken is mostly tiny crispy fried crumbles. But overall effect? Total buffalo wings. I also get the apple cider, which is basically just apple juice. Oh well. It's fun to sit outside basically right under the brown line and have an enforced conversational pause whenever it thunders by.

Yelp
Need a slice of za ? Dimo's in Lincoln Square has you covered. Dimo's recently sunsetted their Cafe format and reopened like a regular Dimo's. It seems like it's the exact same space as before . They are just starting again so I'm going to assume they will have some operational growing pains. The store isn't quite currently structurally setup to be a fast slice shop (like their wicker park location ) with all the pizza in the back of the kitchen . I still really like the pizza a lot and the pizza salad. The service is very friendly . My rating is primarily reflective of the longer than expected waits for pizza. I'll be looking forward to coming back when they're more up and rolling #pizza #chicago

Yelp
Great pizza in a place with a really cool, chill vibe. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I like the flexibility of getting virtually any specialty pizza slice to mix and match.

Lola R.

Yelp
Huge win for the vegan community with this vegan Mac and cheese pizza best I've tried so far
google avatar

Audra Z.

Yelp
Very casual space. Almost feels like fast food, but better. We each had a slice and split a small Caesar salad. The salad was very fresh with shaved Parmesan on top. Very good. Pizza was also very tasty. We had a pepperoni and mushroom slice and one with spinach, tomato and feta cheese.
google avatar

Ronald F.

Yelp
The pizza was good, a little under cooked but good. we got the Mac n cheese pizza and the margarita, the bread was kind of doughy but it was overall yummy
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
Nice space, nice staff. Unfortunately, the pizza is meh. They do New York style slices. The crust is decent, but unexceptional. But that's better than the bland tomato sauce and the indistinct cheese. The toppings were quality, but they could overcome this uninspired 'za.

Yelp
One of the best spots in town to get a vegan pizza! I highly recommend the florentine pizza, the vegan burrata is insanely good!
google avatar

Martin A.

Yelp
Fire and I'd recommend plus I totally didn't do this for the discount and now I'm just typing to meet the character limit

Yelp
Service was great! Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance is simple, very clean streamline tables and chairs. They do have high chairs for younger kids. Tables are well spaced out and music plays at a reasonable volume. The bar area is small but very beautifully setup with a gorgeous rich green accent wall. Large windows face the sidewalk so tons of natural light comes through. Now in the summer, they have tables setup outside and just the most colorful dainty flowers in pots. It's a good place to bring the family for a quick meal. If you want to meet someone casual for a light dinner I would recommend. The casual atmosphere lends to casual meet ups and drinks. All in all we enjoyed the pizza!

Yelp
Excellent slices for a great price. A good spot for when your out of town friends think they want deep dish but you want actually good pizza. Lots of strange topping combos for you to go for but chicken and waffle was my favorite.
google avatar

Gina F.

Yelp
Finally tried Dimo's and the elote pizza was delicious! Delivery was pretty quick. I'll definitely be by to enjoy pizza on their sidewalk soon.
google avatar

Briana L.

Yelp
Love that Lincoln Square has a pizza Slice place that's open later hours! Got the chicken & waffle (4/5 - love the concept, but expected a bit more flavor) & speck di luna (5/5 LOVED this concept. So fresh and well balanced with Prosciutto, pineapple, whipped ricotta, & arugula). The watermelon tomato salad was a good portion & quite refreshing. Their menu was a bit confusing because couldn't see slice prices (just full pizza prices) at first, but super nice service. Def a diff concept (fancier menu, cleaner atmosphere) than their other Dimo's locations & I'm ok with that. We'll give it a try again!
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Such fun pizza toppings. But the slices came out slow and Luke warm. The place was cute with a fun atmosphere, but we wouldn't go back.

Yelp
We came just before closing recently, so I realize that's not primo food time. The new spot is beautiful, colorful, and inviting! Service was great and everyone we interacted with was friendly. I've had Dimo's more times than I can remember so naturally I'm comparing this to those experiences. I absolutely love that they offer by the slice for dine in. Such a treat! Since we came near closing, I wasn't surprised that my slice wasn't the freshest. Not worth complaining over and still tasty, especially with some ranch to dip the crust in. My fella enjoyed having his Pep 2.0 with a cocktail, I'm excited to get more into that side of the menu as we come back in the future. Overall, a good experience and we're both looking forward to coming back with friends and exploring more of the menu!

Dane F.

Yelp
Went in and ordered 2 slices and it took 20 mins to receive my order. Barely any customers. Ambiance reminded me of a shitty Auston powers shag pad. Poor experience overall. And it sounds wayyyy too close to dominos.
google avatar

Jake B.

Yelp
Went here for the first time this weekend but after looking at the receipt, I won't be coming back. They charge a 5% "employee health benefit" fee. We had a 20% off coupon and still paid almost $50 for two slices of pizza, an appetizer, and two beers! That said, the food was pretty good. Thin, floppy NY-style pizza. Delicious crust and toppings. Atmosphere was fun and friendly. Good spot to bring kids if you're rich.
google avatar

Aparna B.

Yelp
Quick spot for breakfast but the portions are tiny! We had a quick breakfast here. It's a pizza place but they do breakfast pizzettes and it's avocado and egg. Good place and nice service but def order more if you're hungry!

Rhys H.

Yelp
I love the food the pizza is one of the best I ever had. The vibe is very nice it is great for my party if kids. They were very kind to all of us.
google avatar

Alice W.

Yelp
The vibe is: when you want the idea of nice pizza in Lincoln square but your expectations aren't high. The service was nice, I was able to hang out without being bothered for a couple hours. In terms of food- blah. Upon reccommendatipn from the waiter I got the Brussels sprouts salad. It's definitely big and worth $15 but I'd save it for when you're sharing with others. It's pretty bland but still refreshing so I'd recommend if you're getting pizza. But alone it's too much Don't get the peanuts. I love good roasted peanuts that are salty and crunchy. The ones here taste raw and despite bright sauce and coloring taste like nothing. I still felt bored with flavors so I got the ricotta and bread- pretty good the best thing I had for flavor but needed some salt. The chili honey is very heavy on chili as a warning.

Yelp
Great location right by Lincoln Square with the option to eat outside or in. Staff is amazing and friendly and knows the menu and can make suggestions. Great options of beverage choices as well. Pizza was delicious we tried the margarita and Pep 2.0.

Yelp
So my sister was coming over to help me out while I recover from a lower back flare up, and we decided to pick up Dimo's Pizza. I was happy to see they had a few vegan pizza options since I'm now lactose intolerant We went with the buffalo chicken vegan pizza, and then based on reviews we went to try the patatas bravas and then we also got the shaved brussel sprouts for some greens. One thing that was unfortunate was the timing factor for pick up. We thought it was going to take longer because one of the delivery apps said assume 50 min but when we ordered via the website it said only 20 min - so our food was on the cold side. We warmed up the pizza and it was so tasty! So were the patata bravas and the shaved brussel sprouts. The patatas would probably have been better hot. It was kind of pricey but I definitely will keep this place in mind for when I'm craving pizza as someone who needs dairy free cheese?

Sean H.

Yelp
Honestly, having been at the Wrigleyville location, I stopped in here for lunch before work not expecting much; I was wrong! EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! Granted, I was the only one in the place, but the food, the seating, the temperature, the store, you name it; it was all spot-on. Definitely give this location a shot!

Yelp
Been going here just for whaddayaknow trivia on Wednesdays, but after several weeks we're giving up and finding a new location. Service is unhelpful bordering on rude. Tonight we asked what one of the rotating beers on tap was, server said she didn't know. Then turned to another server who also said they alsodidn't know. And...that was it. We had to Google it and find out it was a hard seltzer. Strange. On another night we said we had 4 people and the host just said "sorry. We're full." Not a wait time given, or anything. We asked if we could push two 2-tops together (they were empty and next to each other.) Host just said "sorry" again trying to get us to leave. Then a sever said we could and pushed them together for us. Like...do you want us here or not?! The food is expensive, inconsistent, and bad. They are often out of things, despite how small the menu is. The pizza by the slice is always stale. I got violently sick after having the meatballs one time. As I said, trivia was the only thing keeping us coming back, but we're officially giving up and I'm sure this cursed restaurant location in Lincoln square will soon be vacant again.

Yelp
I tried Dimos this afternoon behind the Western Ave. Brown line station. I thought I'd try just one slice to see if I would like it, so I went with a slice of sausage and a lemonade to drink, BTW, they charge you full price for each refill. After I finished my slice, I thought I would try another slice but I went with the Margherita this time, it had a little too much tomato sauce, the sausage was much better. I like the music and the staff all-around a nice place especially for the family, they have their own bathroom which was very clean by the way. I would go back again and try something new.

Samantha M.

Yelp
I spent $20 just to wait 45 mins for a really bad matcha and a sandwich to go, and i'm still here! Waiting, as I type this. I recommend not being understaffed on a Saturday during lunch hours. I also recommend not serving things you don't know how to make properly (matcha). The staff was obviously jaded as hell too. Good luck to them. Doesn't seem like the best place to eat OR work. Ambiance is weird, music is droning techno 80's vibe. If i'm going to have time sit here at wait for a long time, id like some good energy. GOOD LUCK TO THESE WORKERS! I'd fall right asleep. The space looks pretty though, I'll give the owners that... Edit: the CAPRESE sandwich i got only had like 3 cherry tomatoes on each half. Do with that what you will. I think the owners need to update some recipes to be actually good. Update: I cant even finish the sandwich it's so weird and gross. Overly greasy with barely any tomatoes. Might I remind you, tomatoes are the main ingredient in caprese.
google avatar

Kyle W.

Yelp
Terrible pizza but they serve booze at this location so it's a "cafe." Seems like some clowns fever dream. Do not go here. Some of the worst slices in the city. Crust sucks. Sauce sucks. Toppings are so skimp it's almost laughable. If you want good thin crust go to Michael's on broadway. Go anywhere but here. Embarrassing.
google avatar

Valderes P.

Yelp
The wait time here is ridiculous. Would be wise to visit one of the other Dimo's location if you want faster service. The pizza was really good though.
google avatar

Caleb C.

Yelp
It was delivered super fast. That's about the best thing I can say. I think it was made within a moving vehicle, or maybe the pizza maker has two broken arms. It was somehow both raw, and burnt, like a pizza made with bitterness and sarcasm. They actually cut a big piece of the crust off, presumably because (at least I hope) it was burned. The crust that survived the executioner's blade, was slathered in sauce, and soggy/charred. I'm not real picky usually, but this was a comically bad pizza. If you compare it to 7-11 pizza, I guess maybe 2 stars. Buyer beware.
google avatar

Alex I.

Yelp
Such a cute place! Super nice servers, great music, and the food was delicious! I love their individual slices and they're super reasonably priced. Would ago again!
google avatar

Elle F.

Yelp
Surprisingly good pizza, lots of yummy choices. I only got "to go" twice but I always saw people dining inside and at the small but nice bar.
google avatar

Janie O.

Yelp
I loved the vibe of this new Lincoln Square restaurant. The drinks were amazing, especially the Banana Bird and pominatrix. The food was so good. I loved the ribs with the creamed corn and the spec pizza was Outstanding. The service was nice. Would highly recommend.
google avatar

Julie O.

Yelp
They recently added a trivia night on Wednesday's and it is awesome!!! Have been going more and more just for a little fun date night out in the square!
google avatar

Jake E.

Yelp
Great vibes good pizza! Yum yum fun fun! Easy stop in spot right by Western brown line.

arjun c.

Yelp
Great menu , friendly place fits into the neighborhood. I like their pep 2.0 , but also being able to sit and work there when it's slow with a coffee or cocktail is very nice .
google avatar

Keely R.

Yelp
The pizza here is really flavorful, but add another 15-20 minutes to your wait time if you're ordering to-go. Dine-in is usually reasonable and it's a nice atmosphere to bring friends. They just usually take much longer than they say if you're ordering a whole pie out.

Patricia V.

Yelp
Been here a few times and always a positive experience. Attentive service, decent vibe (although I got a sense of rifs between employees?) and the pizza was delicious --we got a margarheta with pepperoni. Also surprisingly good Portuguese wine on list!

Mike L.

Yelp
Ordered 4 different slices for takeout. They were all burnt to a crisp, bottom was completely black on all of them. Could taste anything but that. The sausage slice had two tiny pieces of sausage.

Laura R.

Yelp
Ordered a variety of dishes and everything was fantastic! Everything from the drinks to the entrees and the pizza was delicious. Our server was really attentive and took great care of us. The space is inviting and I felt comfortable sitting and chatting with friends.

john w.

Yelp
Ridiculous. Worse build-out of a new restaurant ever. And pizza is over-engineered and not clever. If you're looking for a (closed) airport eatery vibe, with similar quality and service, without the train ride to O'Hare, then Dimo's is for you. Gross bright lighting and plywood booths (but yet this place boasts Portuguese chairs and (useless) poorly-designed and uncomfortable bar stools?) And, new outdoor patio is completely obtrusive for anyone walking or eating. Staff is decent, but sadly they'll be out of job soon, as this place has zero chance at sustaining rent and salaries with no one going there, and certainly no one going back there. Avoid.

Tammy Y.

Yelp
picked up some slices to go. mac & cheese was dry and flavorless--nothing like i remember from the wrigley location. staff was brusque. maybe sit down service and menu is better but i won't be back to try.
