Din Tai Fung is undoubtedly Southcenter Mall's best food option - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Every ’90s kid shed a tiny tear when Rainforest Cafe closed, but that loss paved the way for Southcenter’s best food option. The large dining room gets busy, with prom groups, date nights, and folks taking the Din Tai Fun exam (a.k.a ordering via check boxes). Wait times can be epic, but you’ll be more than satisfied once those wontons and xiao long bao baskets hit the table." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Dad and I went to Din Tai Fung at Southcenter (south Seattle) for lunch. The only downside is the restaurant was too dark and I had to use the flashlight on my phone to see the menu. The servers were sweet, friendly and lifted my spirit. We ate: Chicken Xiao Long Bao (The handcrafted soup dumplings with their signature 18 folds); Fried Rice with California-grown rice and cage-free eggs and chicken; String Beans with garlic; Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. It was delicious!

TLDR; never disappoints. Good quality is consistent and had lots of really good vegetarian options too. We came in for a late lunch and put ourselves on a waitlist enroute - highly recommend this because it saved us 30 minutes of waiting at the restaurant. Between the two of us we ordered the pork dumplings, spicy vegan wontons, garlic green beans and the chocolate buns. Everything was exceptionally good, as it always it. The spicy wontons are my all time favorite, but the chocolate buns come a close second. The filling inside both is really really flavourful. Service here is always warm too. The waiters are very conversational and alert. There was a shift change while we were eating, and even our new waiter took the time to introduce himself and make sure that transition was smooth. It sounds like such a small thing but it really goes to show how much attention they pay to the service.

I was advised to come here by my daughter in law for good quality and service. I am not too big on Asian foods by my granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed it because her favorite choices are here. That was well worth coming. The menu pricing was a bit steep in my opinion for lunch time servings. The serving sizes were more than adequate as we took home the remaining items. The facility was clean, neat and orderly. The waiter was prompt and pleasant while explaining menu items. The food prep was fairly quick despite the busy crowd. All in, it was good. Come and enjoy.

A Dumpling Dream Come True! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Din Tai Fung never disappoints, and our latest visit, as captured in these photos, was another perfect experience! You can see from the spread on our table that we dove headfirst into their incredible dumplings. The classic xiao long bao (soup dumplings) were, as always, ethereal – juicy and bursting with flavor. We also indulged in those vibrant green vegetable dumplings, which were fresh and delicious, a testament to the quality of their ingredients. Beyond the fantastic food, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was just right for a family dinner. Every dish we ordered was meticulously prepared and simply mouth-watering. Din Tai Fung truly delivers on its reputation for authentic, high-quality Taiwanese cuisine. We can't wait to go back!

We've been coming here for years and absolutely love this place. It's been great to watch it evolve over time, but one thing that hasn't changed is the consistently excellent food. The service is outstanding. In all the years we've visited, they've only made one mistake—bringing us the wrong dessert dumplings—and they more than made up for it. Not only did they promptly replace it with the correct order, but they also removed it from the bill. That level of care goes a long way. The atmosphere is clean and minimalist, though it can get a bit loud at times. Restrooms are well-maintained, especially considering how busy the place gets. Some of our favorite items: iced black tea with sea salt foam, fried rice, spicy wontons, braised beef noodle soup, cucumber appetizer, truffle soup dumplings, green beans, bok choy, and the chocolate mochi dumplings with sea salt cream on the side. Honestly, we could name even more—this place is absolutely worth the hype.

I hate seeing comments like, “Oh, it’s not as good as Taiwan.” Sure, it’s not the same, but so what? It’s still the best you’ll find in the U.S. ..and hey, Din Tai Fung in Taiwan doesn’t even have a bar! The shrimp spicy wonton is a must-order! The XLB is a little different from Taiwan—the bun skin at the fold is a bit doughier, and the pork chop isn’t quite as crispy, but it’s still really tender and flavorful. Also, don’t skip the chocolate XLB—absolutely worth trying. My only real complaint… why charge extra for ginger? That’s just crazy. Overall, an excellent spot that brings back so many great memories!

Din Tai Fung in the SouthCenter Mall is excellent! We went on a Monday evening and there was a minimal wait. The service was excellent, very attentive to clearing dishes and promptly bringing out our dishes as they were ready, The food arrived quickly and piping hot, which is what I love. Everything that we had from the cucumber salad, string beans with garlic, XLB both pork and chicken were excellent. We finished with the mochi with chocolate XLB with a side of the salted whipped cream. The restaurant is very nice, the usual chefs making the Xiao Long Bao in the window. My only thing is that it has gotten so expensive! But it is still the best!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!! learn about this place on social media years ago and I always wanted to visit. I finally got to go and let me say, it was outstanding food. The topper was the chocolate mochi Xiao Long Bao. It was fantastic and wish it would come to Florida.
