War Su Gai, aka Almond Boneless Chicken, Is a Michigan Favorite | Eater

"A long-running Columbus institution (open since 1956) whose version relies on a proprietary spice blend and a gravy made from the broth developed by simmering the chicken; the classic wor sue gai there is an enormous bestseller, reportedly outselling other menu items by roughly three to one." - Missy Frederick

We stopped in for lunch and were greeted right away and seated quickly. The service throughout our meal was genuinely excellent—our server was warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant has a nostalgic, old-school charm with comfortable seating and plenty of parking. However, the restrooms could use some updating and attention. We started with the Hot & Sour Soup and an order of Spare Ribs. The soup had a strong vinegar-forward flavor, but I still enjoyed it and especially liked the fresh scallions on top that added a nice crunch. The spare ribs were tender and meaty, though I personally would have preferred a richer glaze or more seasoning, as they felt a bit light on flavor compared to what I expected. For entrées, my son ordered the Sesame Chicken with steamed rice, which he enjoyed, though the sauce leaned noticeably acidic. I ordered the Wor Sue Gai combination with fried rice and an egg roll, upgrading to white meat. Since this dish is somewhat of a signature here, I was excited to try it. The chicken itself was crisp and well-cooked, but the bright yellow sauce—colored with food dye—was surprisingly mild in flavor. I found myself adding soy sauce to give it more depth. The fried rice also missed the mark for me; it had a sticky texture and didn’t resemble traditional fried rice in flavor or preparation—more like steamed rice lightly tinted. The egg roll had a wonderfully crisp exterior, but the filling was fairly mild and could benefit from more seasoning. The duck sauce on the table, while a nice touch, also leaned heavily vinegar-forward. Important Note for Vegetarians/Vegans: If you are vegetarian or vegan, be aware that many of their sauces and vegetarian dishes are made using chicken broth. There isn’t a straightforward broth substitute available in their kitchen. My daughter, who is vegan, would not have had many options here, so that’s something to keep in mind when visiting. Overall, this is a comfortable and welcoming spot with wonderful staff and classic atmosphere. While some dishes were enjoyable, others lacked the flavor I hoped for. I think it works well for a casual lunch, but based on this visit, it doesn’t quite rise to a five-star experience for me. The standout here is truly the hospitality and warmth of the people who work here.

We ate dinner at Ding Ho’s and it was delicious! I had a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup, two egg rolls, and Cashew Chicken with Fried Rice. My spouse had an egg roll and War Sue Gai. Everything was very good. The egg rolls were the best we’ve ever had. The sweet and sour sauce with hot mustard is a must for me and these egg rolls did not disappoint! Our server was courteous and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was inviting and clean. We will definitely be returning soon!!

Sunday love nch here was very good - good portion sizes, great wait staff, and comfortable seating within a "standard 'Chinese/Cantonese'" themed restaurant. You can choose from seating in the main dining room, seating in the bar area (TVs tuned to sports - since it was a rare Sunday with few regular sports on, it was ESPN Ocho) Lunch was really good. The egg roll I had was hot and crispy - had to break it open to let it cool down a bit. The wife's beef and broccoli was perfectly made with just the right amount of rice. My kung pao chicken was good, but had to add a little hot mustard to it to make it "zippy" enough. All-in-all, $25 for a good meal was very affordable.

I saw their advertisement on instagram. I was expecting their food from the oldest Chinese restaurant in Columbus. But their food was somehow disappointing. It was more like an American Chinese food instead of authentic Chinese one. I ordered the Ding Ho appetizer sampler with fried shrimp, ribs, an egg roll, and fried rice. The size was great and enough for me. But I could not recommend it for one person, because everything tasted dry. So, I also ordered a small size of hot and sour soup. The soup and fried rice tasted authentic. The egg roll was large but had too many hard cabbages. Ribs were mediocre and dry cooked in an American way. They had a large dining room with a good bar. It was interesting to see their last-century old menu where the dishes only cost few dollars. They also had some beautiful chinas and decorations. But there was a block in their men restroom, which was disgusting and smelly. They refused to make it clean. At least, it could be covered by something like plastic bags. I could not believe I saw these gross things before eating. WiFi was not available.

Google
This place has the best eggrolls, crab rangoon, and wonton soup I've ever eaten. Great pork fried rice. Portions are in abundance too. The other "main" dishes have either been OK or not good (general tso). I believe they are one of the founder restaurants for Wor Sue Gai - it's good, but not my favorite. We drive from eastern Delaware County when craving apps and soup.

Saw your video on Instagram and told my husband the next we are in Columbus we were gonna try it. Well here we are and this is the best chinese food we've ever had. Absolutely delicious on everything!!

Google
Fresh (mostly) ingredients but meh taste. I eat a lot of Chinese carryout and thought I would try Ding Ho for the first time when I was driving by on my way home. The eggrolls were large and tasty, probably the best thing. The fried chicken wings had been sealed in a box and they were damp with steam when I got home, tasted OK but just no crispiness. However the Buddha's Delight and Beef Broccoli and Cashew Shrimp were all just bland tasting, more so than about any other Chinese restaurants I've tried. I grew up in Asia and have eaten a lot of Chinese food! The ingredients were fresh and nicely prepared, they just didn't have much flavor or taste. Most disappointing was the cashew shrimp. It was $17.25 (for the "large", which is the same size as any other Chinese carryout container) which I'm OK to pay for a nice dish but I was disappointed that they used tiny pre-frozen shrimp that were tough and overcooked, and, there were very few almonds. No one expects to get those tiny frozen shrimps in a restaurant entre. For their "large" size entrées they provided a small 8 ounce container of rice. I would have preferred getting the standard 16 ounce package of rice that is typically with that size entrée. So, I was not overwhelmed with my first visit. If your ok with (for lack of a better word) americanized Chinese it may be fine. I was hoping to find something a little more authentic and spicy.

Google
This is like an amazing step back in time. The wonton soup is excellent, as was the egg roll and the szechuan chicken. It's one of the best Chinese restaurants in town. There's a reason they've been around for so long.

Yelp
Got influenced by this one creator on Youtube to come here since we were in the area and I'm glad I did! Best egg rolls I've ever had out of a chinese place! Everything we had was great. The Wor Sue Gai was a memorable dish. I think of it as a much better japanese chicken katsu/cutlet. The soup, ribs, and fried rice and pecan shrimp were all excellent, no complaints. Server was nice and polite, willing to accomodate to their needs. And the place has ample parking, nicely decorated with their history and accolades displayed inside. Clean and tidy. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We tried Ding Ho because we love Chinese food and were intrigued they're the oldest Chinese restaurant in Ohio, and we first heard about them from Rob Martinez on YouTube. We were excited to try them, but unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The food was so bad that I ended up with a migraine after eating. I usually order the same things at any Chinese restaurant and have never had a bad batch of shrimp fried rice, but here the shrimp were tiny like the ones you'd find in shrimp ramen noodles. The wonton soup was underwhelming; the wontons tasted frozen and old, though the broth itself was decent. The crab Rangoon was okay, though the filling was much sweeter than usual. My friend got the sampler platter which was just okay, and the fried shrimp had zero flavor and wasn't crispy at all. We spent over $50 and didn't even finish any of the food. Definitely overhyped. I honestly would not order from Ding Ho again.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It claims to be the oldest Chinese food restaurant in Columbus. That does not mean it is any where near the best. My husband and I both enjoyed the wonton soup which had great flavor. But it all fell apart after that. The famous eggrolls had a fermented cabbage taste and the sweet and sour sauce was mid at best. I ordered their specialty the War Sue Gai which tasted like a basic unsweetened orange chicken. I requested fried rice but got brown in color rice - no added flavor there. My husband ordered the pork lo mein which was loaded with the white tasteless stork of bok choy and it was overall just tasteless. There was also a massive amount of canned mushrooms. The place is older, it appeared clean but had a strange odor. Our server did a good job asking if we needed refills or to go boxes. Unfortunately this establishment did not do it for me or my husband. There were many elderly patrons so maybe the lack of flavor suits their palate.

Yelp
My husband found out about this place on social media so we decided to check it out! It is a little confusing since the restaurant sign said it said Cantonese cuisine. I feel like it's more Chinese American and the vibe is like a Chinese buffet for reference. I did like the egg rolls though, they were massive and stuffed with filling. I got the veggie one. As for the shrimp walnut dish, it was a bit too sweet for me but a good portion! So if you're looking for good priced decent Chinese American food in the area I would check this place out.

Yelp
They make really good Chinese food! We live near by and get take out every once in a while, it is always perfect. They have a big restaurant if you want to dine in. Service is always friendly and the booths look nice.

Yelp
Excellent Chinese joint. I had the wor sue gai dinner with fried rice, egg roll, won ton soup, and spare rib. It all exceeded my expectations I've never had wor sue gai before. The breading on the chicken was great I loved the style of the sliced breaded chicken with chopped lettuce underneath and orange gravy on top. The won ton soup was so good the lady said they make it from scratch. I think the best egg roll I've had as well. Good stuff. I also loved the atmosphere.

Yelp
I know there's something about restaurants that can make them extremely hit or miss from day to day, so I believe the people who left less than stellar reviews probably weren't lying but I've never had anything other than a blast here. I've tried ordering wor sue gai at other places and it's just never the same and can't match Ding Ho's game. I LOVE the borderline dated interior. I feel like I'm stepping back into my childhood and it just makes the dining experience that much more special. I adore the no nonsense to the point servers. Do they come off as a little brusque? Yeah a little. But do they also do their job with an efficiency that's near inhuman? In my experience also yes. I get the wor sue gai and wor sue upp every time. I probably should branch out and try something else but that dang gravy has me hooked. I love getting as a "dinner" where it comes with soup and the rib, shrimp and egg roll. The egg rolls! They're so good here! I truly hope I never come on a disappointing day because it would be devastating to fall out of love with this restaurant.

Yelp
Had the best carryout experience. Having a craving, stopped in and ordered an egg roll, Wor Sue Gai, and a Happy Family both with fried rice. Quoted 10-15 minutes and ready within 10. A yelp buddy of mine (Thanks Mike), invites out a couple months ago and I have been craving ever since. Both visits impressed and I am in love with their food! Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Very nice dining experience. I can see why they are a go to Chinese restaurant for the CBus market. The dining area was very clean, the service was exceptional, and the food was good. I ordered the hot and sour soup and was blown away as to how good it was. Also, the crab Rangoon was the best I have eaten. The egg roll and spareribs were also very good. As for entrees, I enjoyed the chicken chow mein (even though it was a little too salty) and the house fried rice was very good. I was a little disappointed that they did not have a "secret Chinese" menu as I enjoy more authentic Chinese food. We will definitely return for soups and appetizers.

Yelp
I've been curious about this restaurant for a while and finally got the chance to try it the other evening for dinner. Most in my group had already been and are regulars. They've tried a lot on the menu. I decided to go with the Ding Ho special just to sample different items. It came with fried rice, a large egg roll, 2 butterfly shrimp, and 2 spare ribs. The ribs stood out the most. Flavorful and tender. The fried rice was nothing special and the shrimp was bland lol. The egg roll was pretty big! Could be shared or eaten yourself. The cabbage tasted fresh like they had just made the egg roll. But I did get the chance to sample a couple different noodle dishes from my table mates and they tasted very fresh. Lots of veg. I was impressed! The servers are nice. They really know their regulars. Tons of parking over here. I'm not sure which days they get busy but they seemed to have ample space.

Yelp
Wow'd! Absolutely Wow'd! We were a group of 9, and Mandy took excellent care of us from start to finish. I mean, she was on point. Everyone in our group got something different, and I kid you not, everyone was complimenting their food. From Lo Mein, to Chow Mein, to War Su Gai, Garlic Chicken, pot stickers, egg rolls, and all the various soups, Ding Ho knocked it out of the park tonight! 5 Stars! And A Little More On Your Plate... My highest recommendations: Soups: Just pick one. They're all savory and flavorful. Egg Rolls, Housemade. They will not disappoint. Entrees: War Su Gai - The best in town. Half dark, half white meat chicken on a bed of lettice with that golden sauce. It's delicious! Lo Mein - Tender noodles with a tossing of bok choy. It's an amazing find. Chow Mein - Lots and lots and lots of vegetables. A mild Cantonese favorite. Honey Walnut Shrimp - A great combination of sweet and savory. Potstickers - A great combination of steamed / fried pork filled dumplings.

Yelp
It's been a while since eating at Ding Ho's but we were in search of great egg rolls and War Sue Gai. We found both at Ding Ho's. The service was exceptional. Our server was courteous and knowledgeable answering a couple menu questions. I had hot and sour soup, an egg roll and cashew chicken. My wife had an egg roll and War Sue Gai. Everything was delicious. The egg rolls are probably the best I've ever had!! The War Sue Gai had crispy chicken with lighter gravy which we love. The atmosphere inside was warm and inviting and a throwback to an older style Chinese restaurant. We are excited to rediscover amazing egg rolls again!

Yelp
Not sure what all the recent bad reviews are on this place. We had a great experience. I haven't been to Ding Ho since it was in the old location...so it's been a LONG time. The egg rolls are just as amazing as I remember them being. So delicious. We had never tried the Wor Sue Gai so we had to try that. It was good. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the gravy was alittle less flavorful that I expected but it was good. The General Tso's was really good. Great flavor, my husband ordered it spicy so it was alittle too spicy for me. But he loved it. The Mongolian beef was different than anywhere else I had gotten it but it was delicious too. The gravy was delicious. Lots more things on the menu we went to try. We will be back soon.

Yelp
We ordered cashew chicken with fried rice, pork lo mein, egg drop soup, won ton soup, and an egg roll. The egg drop soup, won ton soup and cashew chicken was pretty good. The side of fried rice was bland. We were told their regular entree of fried rice is more flavorful. The egg roll had a cinnamon flavor to it and just wasn't good. The pork lo mein was only so so. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Yelp
Ding Ho Cantonese restaurant makes the best Wor Sui Gai and Egg Roll that I have ever had! Add a bowl of Won Ton Soup for a perfect trio. Quite the surprise from this low-key, maybe forgotten Chinese establishment. I was greeted by a friendly server upon arrival. When my Won Ton soup arrived a relished the thick, pork-filled Won Ton Noodles. The added char siu pork slices and green onions topped off this classic soup. The egg roll was giant, perfectly-fried, stuffed tightly with the all their cabbage goodness. Serious artistic discipline was used to make the Wor Sui Gai. Perfectly fried with skin on created a crispy product, topped with gravy, peanuts, and scallions. What a classic culinary treat! Ding Ho claims to be the oldest Chinese restaurant in Columbus. They also claim to be the first restaurant to serve Wor Sui Gai in America. After watching the YouTube video on this restaurant I had to give it a try. I was more than elated with my trio of food choices. You got to try this place out. You won't be disappointed! Pro Tip: Don't be "that guy" who orders all-white meat on the Wor Sui Gai!

Yelp
Went to Ding Ho on Phillipe, near Hollywood Casino tonight. The restaurant was very clean. Staff attentive and friendly. Two large dining rooms, looks like it could accommodate groups easily. As we sat down, a friend saw I had checked into the restaurant on Yelp and had messaged me saying try their egg rolls and their soups are all amazing. We ordered hot and sour soup, egg rolls, crab rangoon, house fried rice and chicken cantonese lo mien. I am singing praise to the soup and appetizers. The soup alone was worth the 25 min drive. The egg roll was excellent and the crab rangoon was the some of best I've had in Columbus. The photos look like it was cruspy and greasy... it wasnt greasy at all. Light nice crisp. So good. However, I was not a fan of the lo mien. The sauce was too salty for my taste. However my husband liked it. The house friend rice had nice flavor. Rice was cooked perfectly... tonight, their house fried rice has a lot of red meat in it, to which Im not a fan. However, husband is a fan of beef and pork, and loved it. I would go back for the soup and appetizers, for sure. The soup is extraordinary. Trip there: 4 out of 5 star

Yelp
Very much an American style Chinese place (we lived in Shanghai for three years and go back every year). The hot and sour soup was good. Pot stickers were nice. But all three of our main dishes- beef, shrimp, and the Singapore noodles, were all just so-so. Not very flavorful, not bad, but not worth coming back for. Staff was friendly, but not Chinese, interior was open and roomy, didn't feel crowded at all, so that was nice.

Yelp
I heard about this place on YouTube and I was driving through Columbus and decided to stop. I think I got there around 1:15p and it wasn't very busy all. The service was great, I think my waitress was named Mandy and was fast. I ordered Hot & Sour soup (awesome) which has peas in it which I've not had before but I love peas so it was a win. The egg roll was good, tastes like it had a hint of nutmeg in them, I love that. My main dish was Hunan Chicken. I asked for extra spicy. It couldve been hotter but I'm a spice guy, it's rarely hot enough for me. I was pleased with this place and would absolutely stop in again when passing through. Maybe next time I'll try the Wor Sue Gai.
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
The egg rolls are larger than most. It's not the best egg rolls in Columbus yin yue off of Hudson is. Ding ho egg roll has more filling of cabbage and is tasty. I like more of a crunch . Nice size restaurant. Fun servers. They understand the business of a restaurant. Service is polite and energetic. The place is dated a bit. The booth seats need to be replaced. They have loyal customers. The wor su guy chicken was the most moist I have ever had. The flavor of the crunch was delicious. The chicken fried rice had a very nice black pepper taste to it. I enjoyed it. The regular rice was just ok.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place for over a decade, but never found a reason to venture there. Finally, had an errand and with the recent viral review thought it was time. I walked in and placed a to go order. Food was quick, staff were amazing to me and others. You can tell the service is going to be good overall. checked on me while I was waiting and brought it directly to me when it was ready. Lunch Wor Sue Gai - white meat Lunch Fried Rice Egg Rolls Hot mustard & sweet sour sauces Even with ~15 minute drive, everything remained crispy and still pretty warm. You can tell the egg rolls are made in house fresh. The dough isn't quite like anything I've had elsewhere so that's a huge plus. Inside veggies still had a little bite to them as well. However, it was incredibly bland otherwise. Now the mustard and the sweet/sour sauce ---- other worldly good. The egg rolls are just the delivery device IMHO. Fried rice = perfectly cooked brown rice, zero flavor, zero veggies Wor Sue Gai = perfect crunchy coating. Crazy dry chicken. zero flavor including the bland gravy. Pretty disappointed. I'll give it another try via dine in. But otherwise, I've honestly had better.
google avatar

Jason L.

Yelp
Egg rolls. Egg rolls. Egg rolls. Did I mention the egg rolls? Big, hand rolled, perfectly fried - home made sweet/sour sauce & hot mustard. I tried the War Su Gai as it was a specialty. It was perfectly cooked/prepared, but not a favorite for me. (I require more spiciness) Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Hot, fresh, and delicious are all words that describe my Shrimp Egg Foo Young and Crab Rangoon. And the Zombie was tasty too! Thank you for your great service Patty!

Yelp
Food was hot, fresh and on our table quickly. Ding Ho is over a 30 min drive for us but well worth it.

Yelp
This restaurant has the best egg rolls and vegetables soup! This time I shared the tofu with black bean sauce. Portion was huge with lots of tofu and vegetables! Simply delicious and had plenty of leftovers! Service was speedy and friendly.

Yelp
Based on carryout only: customer service was good, everything was efficient and correct. I ordered the potstickers, egg roll, and Wor Sue Gai. The food was disappointing. The potstickers were good, but the soy sauce was very salty. The egg roll was so heavily fried, it didn't have much of a flavor at all. The sauce with the egg roll was good though. I did not enjoy the Wor Sue Gai at all, and I am very confused about why this is the recommended dish. The chicken is bland and very heavily breaded. The orange gravy is served on the side (at least for carryout), which I'm not a fan of. The sauce itself was also strangely bland. Their other dishes might be better - I would recommend that you get something besides the Wor Sue Gai. Unfortunately, I don't think this is my taste.

Yelp
Saw an review online for this place, decided to try it out - did a takeout order. Resturant looked to be packed for dinner service midweek. Food was good.
google avatar

Kristy K.

Yelp
Huge menu selection, great service and big portions. The egg rolls were so delicious. I got the small plate Wor Sui Gei and still had plenty to take home. The chicken for both dishes were most and not heavily breaded. Highly recommend coming here!

Yelp
I've been going to Ding Ho for over 30 yrs. My mom worked at the original one many yrs ago. I had my favorite dishes that was my celebration comfort food. The last two times including yesterday, the food was not the same, very bland and no flavor. I unfortunately will no longer be a loyal customer of Ding Ho and it makes me sad. To Steve and Lucy.. You guys know better.. Maybe you no longer care. ‍

Yelp
Oh my God! I finally found the best egg rolls and egg foo young. When we are in Columbus this is our first stop.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good Chinese American restaurant with a lot of history. I regret not coming here sooner! The service was friendly and genuine, and the food was absolutely delicious with many dishes being home made and the ingredients are top grade. The menu is filled with classic Chinese dishes and laid out in a way for you to try a little of everything, and the menu has classic American dishes too! There is a bar too! You won't go wrong stopping in!
google avatar

Lynei S.

Yelp
Ordered take out. Never received the gravy for the wor sue gai so it is very dry and dissatisfying.

C O.

Yelp
Service was great. Won ton soup great. Egg rolls Fantastic!!! Dinner not so great. Wor su gai severely MID. General Tso terrible. The fry on the chicken was great however the sauces tasted like store bought bbq and A1 mixed together. The W.S.G. sauce was super yellow and bland. I had high hopes since they claim to be the originators of W.S.G. Ambiance not great but not hateful, it's what you'd expect given the location. I'd rate this place a C- just because the egg rolls were excellent.
google avatar

Brent C.

Yelp
Long wait times at the door and at the table. Seems as if they are understaffed. Crab Rangoons were light on filling, however the wonton soup was really nicely done. Again, the wantons could have been filled a bit more, but the flavor was delicious. For an entree I went with the sweet and sour chicken. It was above average.
google avatar

Allie A.

Yelp
Delicious! Best egg rolls in Columbus They are the original Wor sue gi. Very family oriented.
google avatar

Shakarra T.

Yelp
Things ain't what they used to be. Leave Ding Ho in the past. Horrible food. The Wor Sue Gi tastes like it was fried in grease from 1994. The service was questionable, the music was bad, it was dusty and not authentic at ALL. They kept the name but chef has left the building. Booooo

Tara W.

Yelp
Happy Birthday Steve & Lucy! We have loved Ding Ho for almost 50 years! Tara, Doug & kids

Yelp
My husband and I just went to Ding Ho for late lunch/dinner today. I wish I could say that it lived up to the hype, but it fell flat. Went at 3:30, had to wait, only 15 mins, so no biggie, I know they are busy. The servers are obviously not used to being this busy because it took a good 10 mins for her to take our food order. The wonton soup was good except the wontons had so little filling that we thought they didn't have any at all. The egg roll was the best part of the meal. It was excellent! Crab Rangoon was good, lots of filling. The sweet and sour sauce is not something I really cared for, it was very thin and vinegary. The hot mustard was alright but seemed watered down. Now the entrees. Oh I wish they had been good. My husband got General Tso's because it's his favorite. It was sweet but no spice, and felt underseasoned, and just not that great. My Moo Goo Gai Kew was so bland and flavorless. I was so sad. The fried rice was fine but nothing to brag about. All in all, I'd say a 3 out of 5 stars and we won't go back. But by all means, try it yourself. Maybe you will have a different experience. When we left around 5, they were on an hour wait for dinner. On a positive, everything was fresh. The veggies were crisp and everything was cooked well and piping hot when it came out. I've posted the photos I took and the food looks so pretty! I just found it lacking flavor and boring.

Susan S.

Yelp
On the road and only enough time for carry out. I live in N Carolina now, and haven't had wor sue gai (or decent Chinese food, for that matter ) in many, many years. It blows my mind that Ding Ho has maintained the exact same delicious, quality recipe for 4 decades; the taste literally takes me right back to the 80s. Thank you so much for carrying on this awesome Columbus tradition!! Next time I'll be sure to sit down and enjoy the ambiance.

Don W.

Yelp
Went after hearing the hype. Not worth it at all. First bite of war su gai was a fried bone.. ate maybe three bites of the rest.. horrible. Threw remainder out. Got dumplings as well not good either. Ate one, threw the rest out. Will not be back. Also had part of receipt in my rice.

Yelp
CLASSIC, "old school" Chinese... They don't make 'em like this anymore, and that's both a good AND bad thing!! Good that there's a bit more "variety" and "fusion" going on now, leading to some more creative/non-standard choices, and bad that some of those "classic" recipes are either not as good as they used to be, or disappearing altogether. Neither the former nor the latter was the case here at Ding Ho on the early Feb. evening when I ventured east to an UYE with Mike G. and Marlena. Easy parking, clean and comfortable dining area, and PLENTY of tempting choices greeted us, and it was tough to narrow down what to order. We ordered apps. (pretty good/standard egg rolls and crab rangoon,) WONDERFUL (best I've ever had!!) won-ton soup, and shared a few entrees. Mike G. swears by the hot and sour soup and wor-su-gai, my honey walnut chicken was pretty good (I'd go with something spicier next time) and though I don't remember what M. had, I do remember she enjoyed it very much!! We ALL enjoyed our mai-tais as well... Friendly service, good variety (nothing FANCY...) and reasonable prices... All of that NEVER goes out of style!!

Yelp
We used to come here (at old location) as children. We came back 30 plus years later and it was a great time. Food was delicious.

Yelp
Friendliest staff ever but it does not compensate for the incredibly mediocre food. We were lured in by an Instagram reel and had high hopes for the food. We had also requested nuts on the side since we had a few peanut allergies and that was the ignored. As we began eating our food two of our family members started experiencing allergic reactions and after examining some of the dishes, they indeed had crushed peanuts on top. Ding Ho is Ding No.

Yelp
Read a lot about this place on the Internet so I drove from Cinci up to try. Won ton soup looked like a dream but tasted like pork broth, noodles were barely stuffed. A BIG minus to start. 3 out of 10. Egg roll was large and was okay but the hot mustard was very watery. Egg roll was an 8 out of 10. Main course was cashew chicken. Nothing but onions and chicken. Terrible. 2 out of 10. Fried rice was okay but it was plain. 5 out of 10. All in all, I can not recommend this place. Other food might change my review but it just isn't worth the drive to try.

Yelp
Waitress was overbearing; trying to be funny. The food: won tin soup was bland. Egg roll was not done inside. Honey pecan chicken was visibly nasty looking and after one bite, was disgusted. Was really looking forward to good food and was highly disappointed

Yelp
Pretty low end Chinese restaurant. The egg rolls were Cantonese style, with use of 5 spice. The breaded shrimp were from 2005 and freezer burnt tasteless cardboard. If you lack taste buds then this place is for you. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Disappointed again! Last order of Pork Egg Foo Young a while ago tasted like it was made the day before. Tonight veggie fried rice with absolutely no egg and huge pieces of green pepper. WTH? (Kung Pao) Shrimp entree had 4 shrimp and mostly veg swimming in sauce. Sure has gone sharply downhill from the 1970s. Won't be ordering again.
