I'm a huge fan of hot dogs If I could eat hot dogs everyday I would. I've made it my personal mission to try as many hot dog spots in LA as I can. I've had dirt dog on my list for a minute now.
Dirt Dog is more known for their inventive takes on hot dogs. They do the Mexican style hot dogs wrapped in bacon and add their own twist to it.
I asked for a recommendation of the two most popular hot dogs and I was told the D.U.I. Dog and the Elote Dog.
The D.U.I. Dog consists of 100% Premium All Beef Nathan's Dog, Wrapped in Center-Cut Bacon, Pastrami, Carne Asada, Cheddar, Chipotle Aioli, Cilantro, Bacon Bits.
The Elote Dog consists of 100% Premium All Beef Nathan's Dog, Wrapped in Center-Cut Bacon, Corn, Lime Mayo, Cotija, Chili Powder, Cilantro, Bacon Bits, Lime.
They give you the option of whether you want to choose a regular hot dog roll or a lobster roll. What they don't tell you is that a lobster roll is $0.75 up charge. I found that out the hard way. I bought two hot dogs which was over $25 with tax. No matter what toppings. It's crazy to think you pay $25 for two hot dogs. I understand you must factor in high rent, labor and food costs along with inflation. Still crazy to think!
I liked both dogs, but I liked the Elote Dog the best. Both of the dogs had a lot of sodium so make sure you have something to wash down all that salt.
I was trying to save money by drinking water, but the wife had to get something to drink since she wasn't eating the dogs. Fair play! We opted to get the watermelon drink and it tasted very fresh and delicious.
The hot dogs are very filling especially when you get the lobster roll. I would say 1 dog was enough for one person. I ate two and I was very full and I'm a big guy.
I'm looking forward to coming here again one day.
