Al Coro Is Closing, Restaurant to be Bought by Tao - Eater NY

"Discolo, built by Jeff Katz and Melissa Rodriguez from the ashes of Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s Del Posto, is selling to Tao Group. The future of Discolo is uncertain." - Emma Orlow

The 15 Best NYC Bars Where You Can Dance - New York - The Infatuation

"You’d never know from the relaxing atmosphere at Al Coro that there’s a straight-up dance club (with no cover) downstairs. Discolo is basically two small octagonal rooms—one has the bar, and the other has a dance floor surrounded by banquettes and tiny round tables. Both rooms are almost completely dark except for red, purple, and blue lights on the ceiling. The flashing lights pulse to the blaring music, which leans more disco and house, less club remixes of Bieber tunes. This place only takes walk-ins, and a lot of people here are in jeans and tees, so come as you are." - Team Infatuation

Discolo, the Cocktail Bar in Former Del Posto Space, is Now Open - Eater NY

"The trio of restaurants and bars planned for the former Del Posto space will be completed this weekend, as Discolo opens its doors. Mel’s, the pizzeria came first, followed by Al Coro, the Italian fine dining spot helmed by chef Melissa Rodriguez. An underground cocktail bar with a light-up ceiling that’s synced to music apparently completes the scene. Discolo opens on September 17 with a drinks list from Matt Reysen, who also handles the beverage program at Al Coro. Cocktails, which start at $19, include a fruited-up mezcal Negroni and an Appletini made with champagne and chamomile. Dinner at the upstairs fine dining spot, where a seven-course tasting menu costs $245, isn’t required for entry, but a $25 cover might be. Find Discolo down the main staircase, Wednesday to Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m." - Luke Fortney

Discolo is a newish cocktail bar located under the similarly newish Al Coro restaurant (just take the main stairway down). We came early at opening and were the only people in the bar for a good hour or so. It was beyond expectation. The bouncer and bartender were both very kind, our drinks (Yuzu Paloma and Mezcal Negroni) tasted amazing, and the space itself is comfortable and chic. The ceiling covered in mirrors and color-changing lights is the obvious star of the show. It started to fill up more towards 9pm.

This place is amazing. My partner and I got there right when they opened and had to wait a few minutes for the staff to set up. The music is great and fits the cozy and light filled setting. Now for what you really came for... The drinks. Gotta be honest I had three drinks and each one was so flavorful and refreshing! Most of the mezcal drinks are legit 10/10. Loved the atmosphere and the staff is so nice! No food, but there is a restaurant upstairs. Will be back soon!

This place is great depending on the day. It is a bit overhyped in an attempt to overcompensate. They drinks are good but service is annoying. Do not get the premix drink. Overall good place to grab a drink and then off to the main event.

I went there for my birthday at 9 PM with a group of 12 people and they instantly rejected us and wanting us to get a table without even looking at the venue. I have heard so many good things about this place but we were all disappointed with the service.

The ambience is decent. The drinks are very ordinary, not worth the price.

Yelp
Came here a few months ago and had such a lovely time. This is definitely an intimate space but enjoying the spectacle of the ceiling alone is worth the trip. Average cocktails for the price. Nothing to blow your socks off but decent enough. Service was fairly fast and efficient. 4/5

Yelp
Great cocktails, good music, nice space and vibe. Uncertain future since there will be new ownership upstairs soon.

Yelp
Nice tinny place with great cocktails and music to dance. Entrance is through their restaurant El Coro, and the bar is located at the basement. They offer free coat check, which was appreciated it. There's no need for reservations but since the place is very small I would advise to arrive early, we did and had no issues finding a spot to enjoy our drinks. The crowd is very young, I would say about 80% of the people were in their early 20's, and the ones who weren't seemed like customers from el Coro that went down after dinner to grab an extra drink. Drinks were pricey but very good, we pretty much tried every single one with mezcal since the owner is the Mexican Chef Melissa Rodriguez and we figured those would be their specialty and they were indeed excellent. All very well served, but I would say my personal favorite was the jungle bird highball. The flavor was quite unique. Bartenders, security and everyone was really friendly which is not the norm in the neighborhood which was also a detail that enhanced our experience. The only downside is that there's no restroom inside the bar and it can get quite hectic to go through the dance floor once the place is full in order to exit to go to the restroom. I would recommend for a few drinks with a friend, not really and ideal place to actually party all night and would not recommend going in big groups because there's not really much space. In general we had a great experience and will be definitely going back. I'll leave here the link to their menu: https://qrcgcustomers.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/account21223028/35554510_1.pdf?0.2401579199128614

Yelp
I went to Discolo for an after dinner drink after eating at Mel's (they have the same owner) The dinner we had was absolutely great. To get to Discolo you enter through Al Coro (also the same owner) and head to the basement. The vibe was great and the ambiance was cool with lights on the ceiling, couches and a large bar. The drinks were great. However, while there, the manager pulled our table away from us saying she was giving it to someone else. We had four drinks which she instructed us to put on the ground. I asked what if they spill and she rudely said, "if they spill they spill and I don't have another table for you" I found it very rude and it definitely tainted what was a great evening up until that point. We immediately left, and I told the manager upstairs at Al Coro and she gave use a table and a complimentary glass of wine. It was an excellent recovery. Though I would not go back to Discolo from this experience I would go back to Mel'a and Al Coro.

Yelp
Great vibe, loud music, small, long couches, good drinks and excellent people all around
