"Leaning into 1960s Bombay (Mumbai), this London import is known for bacon naan rolls, black dal, chicken ruby, gunpowder potatoes, and chile cheese toast, all set against colorful, boldly designed interiors modeled on India’s old Iranian cafés and built around nostalgic comfort food. After a 2024 breakfast pop-up at Pastis, it’s officially slated to land in New York in 2026, with the exact location still to be announced. Founded in 2010 in Covent Garden by cousins Shamil and Kavi Thakrar, it has grown to at least 10 U.K. locations serving roughly 100,000 diners a week, and its new investment of about 300 million pounds from L Catterton (backed by LVMH) signals ambitious international expansion that may even include optional overnight stays, as seen at one London location." - Melissa McCart

"We hate the queues to get into Dishoom. What do we like about Dishoom? Pretty much everything else. Especially their little breakfast champ, the bacon naan, which you can eat at home thanks to their DIY kit. It’s packed full of dough and bacon, and looks relatively easy to master. The bacon is sourced from award-winning producer Ramsay of Carluke, and the naan are served still-warm and sprinkled with fresh herbs. For something a little more substantial, the Big Bombay features spicy, award-winning sausages from Maynard’s Farm, north of Ludlow (a mecca for tube meat) and masala-spiced baked beans.
