I loved this resort! I'm sure it was that Disney magic in play but I didn't want to leave. I stayed here for a conference I attended but I 100% would stay here for a personal vacation.
At their suggestion when I booked, I downloaded the Disney Experience app. You can check in on the app and can bypass the front desk altogether. I did check in at the desk since it was my first visit and I knew I would get lost trying to find my room. In addition to rooms in the tower, they have a ton of outbuildings called casitas and cabanas.
The Disney app is also your room key. You just hold your phone up to the door and it unlocks, complete with Tinkerbell flourish. The room is big, especially since I was traveling solo. I had plenty of space to spread out. There's also a ton of storage if you want to put all your things out of sight. There were a lot of toiletries already in the room, including full-size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. Really all you have to bring is your toothbrush/toothpaste.
After I unpacked, I wanted to head to Disney Springs. There are 4 bus/shuttle stops on this property alone. I headed to the stop nearest to the tower and the bus came in like 2 minutes or less. They dropped us directly off at the entrance to Disney Springs. On the return trip, each resort has its own bus stop at Disney Springs so you just wait for the bus and head directly back to the resort. I didn't go to any of the parks, but I imagine it would be just as easy.
I am an early bird and I fully acknowledge that most normal people are not up and about before the sun comes up. The earliest restaurant on-site opened at 6:30 (Barcelona Lounge), the rest at 7. Each morning I was there, I watched the sun rise from the bridge over the lake, then headed to Cafe Rix for a cold brew. There was typically a small line when they opened at 7.
The only issue that I had was that the wifi was not great in my room. But that just forced me to explore more so it wasn't all bad. I discovered my favorite place on the resort, which was the seating area next to the fountain outside of Panchito's. Every seating area had plenty of outlets and USB ports so it was easy to work with my laptop pretty much anywhere.
The conference I attended was in the convention center at Coronado Springs. It was so easy to go from work mode to play mode throughout the day, and I only had to walk between spaces. The convention center itself was beautiful, with that Spanish flair of the resort. There were actually a couple other conferences happening at the same time as mine, it's that big.
All the staff at the resort were so friendly. I know they have that special Disney customer service training but they genuinely seemed liked they wanted me to have a great day. Many of them asked more about our conference and making sure I knew all the fun things to do so I wasn't just working. There was one night it was pouring down rain. I had reservations for dinner so I ventured out, prepared to get soaked. For one, I walked all the way from the casitas to El Centro under rooftops so that was well thought out. Second, I turned around and there baskets of towels at every entrance. I didn't see anyone putting these out, it just happened. Truly it's like Disney anticipates everything you could need in advance before you even think of it.
There are a ton of restaurants on the property itself. They do book up in advance. When I made my reservation, they let me know that some restaurants across Disney book up to 6 months in advance. They were serious. BUT they do have a mobile order to-go option at Three Bridges and Maya Grill, so I did that one night. You use the Disney experience app, of course, to put in your order. You pick a time range then when you're ready, you let them know you're on your way in the app and they'll send you a notification when your food is ready. I just checked in at the host stand and let them know I was picking up my food.
For the next night, I made a reservation in the app for the Rix Sports bar. It was the same process, check in on the app when you're ready and they'll notify you when your table is ready.
They do have a cafeteria on-site as well, the Mercado de Coronado. You don't need a reservation but it's grab n' go hot and cold options.
You really don't have to leave the resort, other than to go to the parks. I didn't have a rental car but I didn't need one at all. I took The Sunshine Flyer from the airport and back, and the buses across Disney.
I will definitely be back! I never really had a desire to go to Disney, my conference just happened to be there. I loved it so I definitely want to go back from a personal vacation. I wouldn't definitely stay here again.
