"If you see a long line of people in front of this Italian sandwich truck, assume about a third of them are there for the Fonz. Every building on the block probably has at least one person who is familiar with Diso’s superior chicken cutlets, pounded thin and perfectly crispy. The herbed ricotta spread takes all of their sandwiches to another level, and the Italian meat combos are worth trying as well. "Take a break from your everyday deli sandwich and find Diso’s bright red truck in Midtown. The Italian sandwich spot always has a long line during lunch, and a large percentage of people are there for the super thin, perfectly crispy chicken cutlets. Diso’s isn’t shy about stacking them either, in parms with a bright, tangy marinara sauce, or in the Fonz sandwich, wrapped in prosciutto, slathered with a dreamy herbed ricotta spread, and packed between crusty bread. The Italian meat combo is worth trying too. Diso’s is parked a short walk away from Grand Central on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:30am-2:30pm, on opposite sides of the station each day. "Parked on 41st Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue, DiSO'S Italian Sandwich Society has been serving takeout sandwiches for the last seven years, but with foot traffic down 80–90% it's often only making about $200 a day and has already cut staff hours and pay; during the afternoon I reported two NYPD traffic agents approached owner Adam Disilvestro around 1:30 p.m. and asked to see his mobile food vending permit, and although he pointed to the permit and letter grade displayed in his window he did not have the paperwork with him and was fined $65 — a penalty he called "inhumane," saying "these officers know what we're going through." Mohamed Attia of the Street Vendor Project called the ticket an "absolutely inhumane treatment" and urged city officials to suspend street vendor compliance fines to protect vendors during the health and financial crisis." - Luke Fortney
