I was really looking forward to dining at Distilled on Jefferson after reading so many great reviews. Maybe we caught it on an off night?
We started with the she-crab soup, which we typically love, but unfortunately, it was so salty I couldn’t finish mine. The highlight of the evening was the lettuce salad with pistachios—unique and delicious. The savory dressing paired well with the wild greens, and the chopped pistachios added the perfect crunch.
For the main course, we had the brined fried chicken. Sadly, it was also overly salty, and placing the salad greens and chow chow directly on top took away the crispiness of the batter.
It’s a charming spot with potential, but overall, the food was far too salty—and that’s coming from someone who usually enjoys a generous pinch.
