This place is a delight for the white rock area. Every other restaurant in this outlet strip is either fairly heavy or gonna take some time to receive your order.
I came here on a Saturday around 3pm. There were at least two customers in the place at all times. Their beer selection caters specifically to what youd see in Germany, from German brands like Paulander to traditional style beers like hefeweizens, doppelbocks, and even a generous selection of wine.
Food wise, this place is quite scaled down. Theres a chance you may not be in the mood for anything on the menu, but from what I had, it was all a solid presentation. I ordered a meat and cheese plate, which comes with a pretzel, some nuts, and pickles. For my partner and I, this was just the right amount of food for an afternoon snack. I was tempted to order their beef stuffed grilled cheese sandwiches, but I knew I would feel bloated. They have a modest offering of sausages, and the cheese that come with it match with everything. The pretzel was way better than I thought it would be! Soft on the inside, with a delicate, but sturdy exterior to give off this pillowy chew.
For the moment, they also have an apple pie/cake callled an Apfelkuchen. We ordered it cause there was no cream involved. This dessert was fantastice! Apparantly they collaborate with a bakery, so this is made locally. It comes out cold, but its quite refreshing on a hot summers day. I can imagine its also delicious warm, but its quite pleasant even when cold. Soft, gooey, yet still has that glutinous cake feel, all surrounded by fresh apples.
While I feel like I have to be in the right mood, or just finished biking, this place is a great option for a casual weekend afternoon hangout.
