District Kitchen to Open This Month in Jersey City’s Harborside Waterfront District | Eater NY

"Opening March 25, District Kitchen is a 230-seat, 12,750-square-foot food hall on the ground level of the Harborside Atrium that brings a plentiful mix of fast-casual options—from Neapolitan pizza to Korean street food—to Jersey City’s Harborside waterfront; the industrial decor is an ode to the “food mart” days, the space includes a bar serving beer, wine, and cocktails, is backed by Mack-Cali Realty Corp., and is geared toward a weekday work crowd (open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays) as a complement to nearby waterfront spots like Piggyback Bar and the Lutze biergarten." - Carla Vianna

Wish the website & social spheres for District Kitchen were more up to date. Great place to get lunch, take a break or make a call. Betr Burger, Carlitos Tacos, POM pizza, Simple Coffee, Nanas Deli, Archie’s & Enefes are all selections available within the food court. 👍

A good place to eat, hang out, make appointments and just relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. Located near the Exchange Place subway and Harborside Light Rail stop. Clean, quiet and safe. No parking or paid parking nearby. I recommend to visit .

Stumbled across this place by accident but happy I did. Great environment and food offerings, I ordered a pizza which was excellent. The building is very clean with a pleasant and relaxed feel. Plenty of seating available on the ground floor. Definitely worth a visit.

This is an interesting atrium type place. There is a common area right in the middle and a lot of food stalls if you are hungry. The unfortunate thing was most were closed when we went. Not sure why it isn’t packed in here. The concept is excellent. I think its because parking is tough around here. Other than that it is awesome. Reminds of a smaller bell works type place.

Edit: recently it looks like this place had a Reno. I hear there might be new owners too. More food places have opened down there. New: Jewish deli, hot pot, new coffee spot replaced mod cup, Better burger(vegan) Old: Belgian waffle, enfes, pizza place, Carlitos, and I did see food cooking at angry Archie’s so maybe they are returning? Also there’s a bar that opened in the atrium. Please note that they each have their own hours. No website for this place anymore. I checked it out about 8pm on Friday and some food places were open so it seems this might start converting to a late night bite. It’s not there yet but things look like they’re moving up! ———————————————— Where do I start? There are no hours for this place it’s not 7-7. Each food stall opens and closes at their own times. Those hours are posted on the website but are completely inaccurate. Best bet is to go around 11 to 1. Online ordering - I wouldn’t do it because you won’t know if they’re actually open or not. And the menu is also not up to date. On the website all of those restaurants are no longer there except the Belgian waffle and enfes. However they have a Mexican place and a new pizza place yet that’s not on their website. If you go to district kitchen Instagram, last post is from 2020. Whoever is managing this place clearly doesn’t care how it does. Could have been cool such a shame!

Wish I knew of this place earlier when more of the stalls were open. Visited today and only two were in operation sadly. IMO marketing could have been improved as I moved to the area (Hoboken) in 2020 and only noticed/heard of this place a few months ago while walking by as a new Jersey City resident. The name of it also sounds like just a restaurant instead of a food hall so it could probably benefit from a rebrand. If you look at the successful ones in other cities, e.g Chelsea Market in the city, Quincy Market in Boston, Union Market in DC, Reading Terminal Market in Philly, Ponce City and Krog street Markets in Atlanta they all kept it simple with the name. Those also are thriving either because they are in a high density tourist area or because they have dedicated parking available. This place would have done much better with dedicated available parking so people would have seen it as a destination. That said I get that perhaps, this was meant as more of a food court geared to catering to office workers like the Hugh in the city but there aren't nearly enough of these workers in JC for that. Hope it survives though and perhaps it will rebound when more of the development happening brings either new neighborhood residents or visitors (Top Golf rumored to be coming).

Google
Harborside used to have a down to earth food court with reasonable lunch choices and prices. The District Kitchen is its dark and unwelcoming replacement. It looks like an unassuming hole in the wall from the outside, but the inside is actually quite cavernous and boasts a variety of somewhat exotic dining options. Think food truck food inside a building but twice the price. What's missing is simple, inexpensive food choices. We consider it a last resort lunch option when the weather is bad and you can't go somewhere else.

Yelp
District Kitchen has a TON of great food options, and plenty of seating making it a great place to hang out. I was most impressed with the pork belly ramen I got from Ani Ramen: the broth was very flavorful and the pork itself was so tender and cooked perfectly. Angry Archies does a fabulous crab cake roll, I'd say it was one of the best I've had (although I normally go for a lobster roll so I haven't had too many crab cakes to compare this one to). You could tell the cake was mostly crab, rather than mostly bread filling. Baonanas: if you don't get the OG banana pudding then you're missing out big time. It's kind of like the banana pudding from Magnolia bakery, but in my opinion better. The stand is set up to be kind of like a gelato or ice cream place, but it's actually pudding. Very heavy, don't let the small portion sizes trick you. I heard they're also opening a bar with pool tables and lounge chairs nearby, so this entire area is shaping up to be a really neat place to take your friends to. Highly recommend a visit, I was blown away during my trip!

Yelp
There's socially distant and there's abandoned. Almost all of the vendors are closed on weekends and it's unclear if the seating areas within the food court are open, but the broader seating area apparently isn't as I just saw a group of tourists thrown out. Yes they are within their legal rights to run a lame food court that might be a tax writeoff or a way to save space for a future Duane Reade but at least post the hours.

Yelp
Food hall in NJ! It is near the hotel we were staying. I was excited. I was just on Yelp to see if there is any food near by. It's like .3 miles. It was bigger than I thought and I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted to eat either. There is plenty of seats once you decide. There are around 13 food vendors. One being dessert. You won't be disappointed. 149/2019

Yelp
This gleaming, brand new food court inside the Harborside Financial building is a great addition to the food scene in downtown Jersey City. The food court itself reminds me of Brookfield Place's Hudson Eats. It has a nice variety of food vendors and plenty of seats (there are more seats further inside the food court). Each vendor's stall has an open kitchen so you can watch the chefs as prepare the food. The vendors l look forward to trying are those that didn't have a store in downtown JC before, such as Kimchi Grill, Pizza Vita and Angry Archie's.

Yelp
Do NOT eat at the taco place. It was horrible. I had the chicken tacos and they were tasteless, no seasoning and not as described on the menu. The tortillas are made fresh but they taste awful. We ordered 4 tacos (which are VERY small) and paid $21. Overpriced and not worth it!

Yelp
Good selection of unique vendors here. Place is very clean, probably because it is still new. On the day I visited, it was quite empty, but I'm sure the business will pick up once more people hear about it.

Yelp
I came to District Kitchen for the Yelp event last month & I was thoroughly impressed. This place is almost like a higher class food court that you would find in the mall. The options are all locally sourced businesses & a diverse set of food options. Whether it's sushi, a lobster roll, chicken tikka masala or a burger you can pretty much get whatever your heart desires. We tried a sample from each of the stations- some better than others but would recommend trying for yourself. My only qualm about the place is it's hours. I know this place is intended for professionals on their lunch hours but would be great if hours were extended to 9 so locals can have for dinner as well.

Yelp
This place has variety of different vendors. The whole place is very clean and organized. Sad to see that the business is slow due to covid. Some beloved places of JC are definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
So excited that this place opened up! It's a much needed addition to the restaurant scene in the area. They brought some of the best restaurants from Jersey City into their food hall (my personal favorites being Ani Ramen, Left Bank Burger Bar, and Pizza Vita). Great place for lunch, but as I work in the city I'm not around too much during that time. Hoping they'll extend their hours later for dinner time! Looking forward to the bar opening too. Yelp
I love that this is here. I just moved to the area and walked here with a friend for lunch. It's good for when you want to get lunch but aren't sure what you want. They have a coffee shop, poke, ice cream, Korean, and several other places. I hade a poke bowl it was filling and delicious. A little overpriced but poke tends to be. I also got a cold brew and it really hit the spot that day. There's all kinds of different types of seating for depending on who you go with or if you just want to go alone to do some work. Only thing is that it's a bit expensive for a food court but I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
A lot of great options and variety of food and desert. There was a coffee shop and desert as well as a bar area.

Yelp
The food is very questionable here, went to a store that sold sushi then another one that sold kimchi rice balls. Both quoted to be spicy, but it was just bland. Like no taste, all I tasted from my sushi was the soy sauce... that's it. Be cautious of the place that sells sushi and kimchi

Yelp
Really great food selection here! I work in this building and all the choices are very convenient and tasty. I love the coffee spot to start off my day. Other good spots are the poke bowl spot, sushi, indian, and the sandwich spot.

Yelp
i live very close and love that this is now in harborside! so many great places moved in here and the food has been on point. wish they were open on weekends but i'll take it!

Yelp
Pretty bomb options at the district kitchen. I'm happy I work right across the street and can pop over for something yummy anytime I want. I just wish they had a sweetgreen.
