Came to meet a friend for brunch and we ordered several dishes to serve family style. The restaurant is very pretty and servers are very attentive. Food presentation and flavors are amazing as well. We especially enjoyed the pomelo salad, lcrispy pork and shrimp spring roll and the crab garlic noodles. The pandan rice that came with the filet mignon is also delicious and the meats are soft. I loved that the chef played with various fusion flavors and married it into Vietnamese cuisine. It was an enjoyable experience and meal.

Google
I gave 3 star because the restaurant doesn't have AC during summer time... otherwise it would be a 3.5 to 4 star experience The dish portion is relative small :p Crab Garlic Noodles: The best of the dinner. Not much crab meat, the noodle + cheese + pickles combo is great Lamb chop is average, beef is a little bit saltly to us.

Everything was so delicious! We came with a fairly large group and the restaurant was able to accommodate our group on the outdoor patio (they have large umbrellas when it gets too sunny). From beginning to end, I was enjoyed every dish that came out (the tofu, green beans, chicken skewers, tamarind shrimp and truffle fries did not make the photos because we dug in so quickly). The unassuming durian tiramisu capped off an awesome meal. I didn’t think I had anymore room in my belly but when I had the tiramisu I had to finish it - what a great and unexpected fusion dessert. Service was kind and thoughtful as well.

I recently dined here, at D7 kitchen with my friends, and I must say the food was absolutely delicious. I savored every bite and cleaned my plate. The owner of the restaurant was incredibly hospitable, and the ambiance was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place to others. Five-star rating!

Google
I am surprised to find this little gem in the heart of viet town and I was not disappointed with the food and service. We came at late lunch hour and they were not busy. Our food came out at a decent time and they were delicious. Prawn with pandan rice - 4* Garlic noodle with lamb chops - 5* Soft shell crab spring roll - 3.5* Spicy green bean - 3.5* Lychee lemonade - 4*

Google
An inviting Vietnamese restaurant in taste and decor as well located in the heart pf VietNam town. Great service, nice ambiance. Although I wish the food can be a little more exotic.

Yelp
Came here for dinner with a friend on a weekday night. The restaurant is a little small/cozy but there were only 2-3 other tables there at the same time. It's very modernized style inside. There was only 1 server but he was very attentive and gave us water and waited on us occasionally, making sure we were ok. We shared the soft shell crab spring roll and we each got the filet mignon garlic noodle. The spring roll was good but the filet mignon garlic noodle was AMAZING (IMHO), I was blown away. The meat was so tender and everything on the plate was so flavorful and had a good balance of soft texture and a little crunchy from the bell peppers. Only taking off 1 star because I had a slightly upset stomach later in the night, not sure if it's from the meat because my body doesn't do well with super raw meat. was also my first time eating here so my body prob wasn't used to the mesh of ingredients they used. But it was still so yummy. It

Yelp
Small ambient restaurant in Vietnam town. I like the interior and how cozy but spacious the table seating is. Food is pretty average. We called ahead of time in the morning to make a dinner reservation for Mother's Day. Service is very friendly and accommodating. They ran out of sea bass and steak frites by 6pm for Mother's Day. Standout items: Lychee Lemonade: Good balance of lychee, mint, and lemonade. Not too sweet, sour, or minty. Soft Shelled Crab Spring Rolls: crab was cooked perfectly. Mango paired with the crab nicely. I think the dipping sauce (nuoc mam) could either be made stronger or substituted for a more complementary sauce. Banana Bread Pudding: Ice cream with the warm bread pudding was delicious. Everything else we ordered: Chicken Skewers: your typical grilled chicken on a stick. The house sauce is spicy. Garlic Noodles with Duck Confit: Duck was cooked perfectly with crispy skin. The sauce complemented the duck well. Garlic noodles were ok. Not bad but I like the garlic noodle at Annam Cafe better. Lomo Saltado: Beef was juicy and tender. Sauce was salty and soaked into the fries. Too spicy for me. Grilled Lamb Chops: Garlic fries are delicious. Chimichurri aoli pairs well with the lamb. Lamb was slightly overcooked and tough. Durian Tiramisu: I picked District 7 for this dessert but I was pretty disappointed by it. It mainly tasted like bread. Durian was light and barely there. Flies in the restaurant which can't be helped in the area but should be addressed.

Yelp
Takeout order: 7/10 Grilled Pork Garlic Noodles $18 - garlic noodles were on the bland side. Definitely needs a lot more seasoning as there wasn't much garlic taste or savoriness to them. Texture wise they were pretty chewy which was good. Veggies and meat were grilled well done. Pork was a hit and miss for some pieces in terms of being dry and juicy. Both were small in portions. Overall not worth $18 for an average meal.

Yelp
3.5 Some hits n misses. Generally enjoyed the food but the price point can be a bit high. Food: Filet mignon lomo saltado- The filet mignon was so tender. Flavors were great as well. Loved the pandan rice. Only complaint is that the fries came out salty. They should have be crisper in my opinion. Duck confit garlic noodles- The duck was amazing. It was so tender I honestly thought it tasted like chicken. It was the leg so dark meat is more tender n juicy. The garlic noodles left much to be desired. It felt too al dente or cold/old. Didn't enjoy the noodles at all. Shishito peppers- usually they're more shriveled but the taste was fine. No complaints but nothing you hafta try Soft shell crab spring roll- Not bad. I enjoyed them but not something that i would hafta come back for. Overall, had a decent experience but with so many restaurants it would be awhile before I felt the need to come back

Yelp
Very high quality food! Everything was very delicious and service was amazing. We ordered 3 dishes to be shared between 2 people: lemongrass tofu, green beans and shaking beef w/ sides of rice. Prices are decent, maybe a little on the higher end but like I said the meat and ingredient quality was definitely better than most. The food was good but I just kind of wish it was more saucy? It's my personal preference and they didn't have any chili oil or hot sauce on the table but maybe they had some in the back. Menu is small but had a lot of good options and I regret not trying their garlic noodles (the pics I see online look so good!). Well, service was great and it's definitely more of a fancy vibe here. Staff seated us right away, checked up on us frequently and everything was perfect. It was a little awkward because it was just us and one other table but we got exceptional service.

Yelp
Let me just start by saying this place is amazing! We found ourselves in the San Jose area for the weekend and decided to stray away from our typical restaurant adventures that usually land us at another steak restaurant. We arrived shortly after opening and were the first two in the restaurant. The two young servers that assisted us throughout our visit were extremely kind, informative, and had a genuwine interest in making our dining experience a great one. The restaurant is small but very clean and nicely decorated, including the awesome plant art on the wall. For a second we wondered why we were the only two in the restaurant on a Saturday evening but by the time we received our appetizer the restaurant was at about capacity and stayed that way until we left. Sometimes we forget that most of the world eats later than we do. Speaking of the the food, this was where we were most impressed. We first ordered the Shrimp and Pork Crispy Rolls, which came with some sort of dipping sauce that really brought these things to life. Really good. The star of the show however were the two main dishes we ordered to share. The Three Seasons Garlic Noodles with Filet Mignon, and the Spicy Tamarind Prawns. These dishes had complex levels of flavor that we didn't know we were missing in life. We were literally making "omg" faces every bite that we took. As we were finishing up we were greeted by what we presumed to be the owner, she asked us how everything was and we gladly shared our delight with her. A little expensive, yes, but I always say you get what you for, and this the entire experience here was well worth it for us. We can't wait for our next trip to SJ so that we can return to District 7 Kitchen.

Yelp
Solid 4 for me. Service was really nice, food came out pretty quick, and the restaurant is quite clean. The food and drinks were good, but I would say the food items are on the sweeter side. We ordered the following and enjoyed every dish: - shrimp papaya salad - lamb chop garlic noodles - duck confit garlic noodles - grilled shrimp saltado with pandan rice - truffle fries - nuoc mam wings Garlic noods were very good and not too garlicky. Duck was soft and 14 months old baby even enjoyed it. Pandan rice was interesting, but not my favorite. Wings were a hit, along with the green sauce that came with the fries!!! For drinks, we ordered fresh watermelon and lychee lemonade. Sooo refreshing! This fed 4 adults and 2 children, with a little leftover lol. We came a little after opening hours on Sunday noon ish and it got pretty busy thereafter. I enjoyed the ambiance and food and would definitely come back to support!

Yelp
I usually scoff at "high-end" Vietnamese restaurants. Having grown up with this cuisine, I have a bias towards Vietnamese food as low-priced, delicious, healthy, and lacking in presentation. To my mind, any attempt at "upscale" Vietnamese food is Vietnamese food on nicer plates, marked-up for non-Vietnamese audiences who don't know any better. District Seven forces me to rethink that bias. While the prices are high - challenging my conception of Vietnamese food as affordable and accessible - the quality of food and service do provide an added value that almost justifies the added cost. Given that part of the typically Vietnamese dining experience is ordering food only to be ignored until you pay, I really did appreciate the attentiveness of the staff here, and can see that District Seven is separate and apart from the typical dining experience you get at most other Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose. Vietnamese restaurants have something to learn from American restaurants, and District Seven does a fine job of executing those lessons. I came here for a family dinner for my mom's birthday on a Sunday night. The place was empty so we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The restaurant is relatively small, but large enough and is beautifully decorated. Two women were out front -- Coco and someone else who's name I didn't get -- and they were attentive and prompt in their service. They paid attention to us as we were eating and brought out new plates for course changes, offered us suggesting at the appropriate time, such as drinks or dessert... and they did all this jumping between English (for me and my brother and his girlfriend) and Vietnamese for my mom. They also brought out food when it should be brought out -- appetizer, main course, and then dessert... other Vietnamese restaurants just bring things out at their convenience without regard for order. The flavors here are excellent. Vietnamese food with a bit of a modern twist. Their "prawns" are really shrimp. A lot of their plates have the same stir-fry items (bell peppers, onions, etc.) as a base so you're getting it whether you order the shrimp or the beef, etc... and there are little annoying things they do like only selling water by the bottle and not offering tap water. Overall though, I really enjoyed dining here. Be sure to try the fries. District Seven is a much-welcomed addition to the Vietnamese dining scene in San Jose. I often lament that I must go to Orange County, CA or Houston, TX to find experimentation in Vietnamese dining. Prices are so high in San Jose that it's hard for new restaurants to open and last very long. But D7 is a standout. I'm adding it to my rotation of places to eat.

Yelp
We did not make reservations, but luckily we came right when they were about to open. I wanted to come here for 2 reasons: 1) try this place and 2) if I like what I ordered, I will place a party tray for Tess' 18th birthday and HS graduation party. Service was warm and very fast (I loved the speed). this place used to be Banh Cuon Saigon (Rest in Peace). If you come during the rush, parking might be annoying. a tip for anyone going to Little Saigon. Anyway, we started off w/ their shrimp and pork crispy rolls. The name deceived me because they're just eggrolls, but it was definitely nostalgic as I was enjoying this. They did not skimp on the meat. I appreciated the presentation. The truffle fries is something everyone must order! They were fried perfectly, seasoned perfectly, and the spicy aioli that came w/ it was also perfect. I could eat 5 plates of that alone! If you want the ribeye, call ahead because we wanted to order it, but it was out. Hmmm, supply chain issues? It's for $89.95 and is 20oz and comes w. garlic noodles, vegetables, and dessert. We ended up ordering their chicken breast garlic noodles, filet mignon garlic noodles, and their 3 seasons garlic noodles (Gavin claimed he wasn't hungry, but cleaned up that plate, BTW). After that meal, I knew I will be ordering from them for Tess' party. I am picking up a tray of their chicken breast garlic noodles this Saturday! It not only tasted delicious, but the service was great, and if I can support a Vietnamese-owned restaurant, I will! We left very full and satisfied. I can't wait to return to try their other dishes!

Yelp
Dropped one star because of the listed business hours that are not implemented or executed by the owner/staff. On TWO separate occasions, I drove out in the middle of traffic hour to have dinner here since my daughter enjoyed the food so much. Each time the business was set to open at 5:30pm and they weren't. My family and I even walked around to kill some time, thinking the staff was just running behind but no!!!!! We ended up heading to a nearby business since my daughters meal are set to a specific schedule. Today was no different. We waited until 5:30pm rolled around and the business wasn't open. There were no lights on and no sight of any employee in the establishment. Such a terrible waste of time and gas- not cool.

Yelp
Great spot! District Seven is such a clever name! I went here on a whim while we were in the area and wow, it was a pleasant surprised! The restaurant was pretty small inside but cozy and nice. Our waitress was friendly and helpful too with any questions we had. We only got 2 things: -Beef Filet Mignon and Fries Dinner -Garlic Noodles & Beef Filet Mignon Both were very tasty! They are a bit salty which i wished we had more rice to eat with. Otherwise the beef is so tender and seasoned well. The portion don't look too much but it's pretty hefty once you did in. We left with a full stomach! One thing I would suggest is to cook the egg a bit more. I'm all for runny egg yolks but the uncooked whites in this was a lot. Overall we had a great dinner experience, would definitely come back. It is pretty pricey so maybe for a nice dinner/special occasion!

Yelp
District 7 Kitchen has been on my list of places to try as long as it's been open. Unfortunately it is out of the way for me, and I've never been a fan of parking in the area. BUT the food was so well worth it, and I will definitely be back. Additionally their customer service was great. I placed an online order for pickup on a Saturday at 12:15pm. This was the earliest time slot I could get after they open at 11:45am. I arrived approximately on time and found that my food was packed and ready to go. I ordered the chicken salad and grilled chicken with garlic noodles. I saw on their lunch menu that they offered soft shell crab spring rolls, which wasn't on the online menu. I asked them to add it to my order, and I paid for for the difference. The spring rolls didn't take that long to make. I waited no longer than 10 minutes. When I brought the food home, my boyfriend and I realized it was a lot of food - definitely plenty to share between the both of us. We had the spring rolls and chicken with garlic noodles for lunch and saved the chicken salad for dinner. Everything was delicious. The spring rolls with soft shell crab tasted really refreshing with the slices of cucumber and mango. We enjoyed the garlic noodles, and I'm glad that they didn't combine the parmesan cheese in our to-go order. It didn't have an option online for me to make any modifications, but this was one I would've requested for sure. The grilled chicken was tender, and I loved the spicy cilantro sauce that came with it. What I appreciated was how District 7 packaged all the condiments and toppings separately for the chicken salad, which kept all the cabbage and greens incredibly crisp. The salad tasted really fresh despite waiting to eat it later in the day.

Yelp
This is kind of an 'elevated' Vietnamese food restaurant that is located in a San Jose area strip mall. I usually cringe at the term elevated Viet food cause usually you can find really good Viet food at low prices. I will say though, you do get the quality that you pay for here. My parents took me here as kind of a belated birthday dinner since I was visiting from out of town. They were excited to go and I was equally excited haha. What we ordered (I really liked everything we ordered. Was with my mom and she definitely knows how to order. My one thing I really wanted to order was the garlic noodles) - Soft shell crab spring rolls - had a great texture of crispy and soft served with a sauce with familiar Viet flavors Green papaya / shrimp salad - very traditional Viet flavors here with a nice kick. Refreshing and tasty. Tofu and veggies - nice crisp on the tofu and umami flavors here. Sweet and sour shrimp - delicious and savory shrimp with an acidic touch goes well with rice. Garlic noodles - I love garlic noodles and these were on par with the delicious expensive Viet places like the one in Beverly Hills that everyone loves Shaking beef - well prepared and the meat was so flavorful and tender. I had some leftover the next day and it was still so tender after reheating. Speaks to the quality of ingredients. Beef was a good contrast with the watercress. The dressing didn't over power. The price point is a hard pill to swallow, but like I mentioned before, I really feel like you get a level of quality commensurate with the money you are paying. The place is super clean with a great presentation of the place and plating. The portions are actually a lot more than what it looks like on the plates. The leftovers lasted me a few meals so you can argue we over-ordered but it did seem like a lot of food ordering 6 dishes for 3 people.

Yelp
We chanced upon this restaurant walking by. The service and the food was extraordinary. The pandan rice and garlic noodles had just the right amount of spice, and the seabass curry was one of the best Indonesian/Thai curries I have tasted. Crispy salmon rolls couldn't be any better. Overall, great !

Yelp
I came here on a Friday with 2 girlfriends right as soon as it opens at 530pm and was seated immediately. We were by ourselves for maybe 45 minutes before it started to get busy. Small and intimate setting inside and outdoor seating available but no heaters. The 2 staff working was very friendly and provided very prompt service and often check in on us. Between the 3 of us, we shared 3 plates as 2 of us had a ver fulfilling lunch. 1. Soft shell crab rolls (3 rolls sliced in half each). It's good but doesnt stand out for it. Dip sauce is nuoc mam pha (mixed vinegarette fish sauce). I dont think it pairs well with the rolls so I ate it on its own. A sauce is differently needed though. 2. salmon rolls (" "). Delish! Not overcooked. Very moist inside and love the taro and seaweed wrap. Dipping sauce seems to be some sort of vinegarette soy sauce, maybe and goes well with the rolls. 3. Prawns & Garlic Noodles. Delish! Garlic noodles is flavored just right though I would like more garlic slices as I love garlic. The prawns are a lil salty to eat on its own, but pairs well with the flavored garlic noodles. Sauce on side is a lil tangy spicy like a cajun sauce. Not needed as its a lil on the saltier side and thr flavoring of the shrimp and garlic noodles goes well together already.

Yelp
I was excited to check out this place, but I was really disappointed by the overall experience. + To be frank, the food is quite overpriced. Everything is about $17+ and entrees are all around $20 as well. The portions are small for the price and the quality of the food was decent. + Soft Shell Crab Spring Rolls: Very delicious! The crab was crispy and gave the spring roll a nice texture. They also add crunchy mango strips, which give the spring rolls a slight sweetness that is refreshing. They pair it with fish sauce for dipping. + Korean BBQ Short Ribs: Very small portions, but a good medium rare and the ribs are boneless. + Skirt Steak Garlic Noodles: Very tender beef. They put fresh garlic and fried garlic in the noodles, which were al dente. The bok choy added a nice freshness to the dish, but I wish it was cut up rather than served in bulbs. Overall decent. Very small portion. + They DO NOT serve tap water here. You must buy $1 water bottles or choose from their beverage menu. The customer service here is decent. Our waitress was really quiet... but there was a really friendly woman who would come by our table frequently, whom I assume is the owner.

Yelp
Great food and great service. I love this place and will be sure to come again. A hidden gem. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This place makes the best vietnamese-french fusion ever!! I'm obsessed with the garlic noodles with short ribs and the spicy sauce they have was heaven in my mouth. (I typically hate spicy food, but I can't have a piece of meat without it on it) I'm dreaming of it right!!! #getinmybelly All in all, I definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner out with the other half or family dinner night.

Yelp
Can't say they're even a seven out of ten for me. District Seven Kitchen is a new restaurant in ever-expanding Vietnam Town with an oddly simplistic menu of small plates, salad/veggie dishes, and garlic noodles. They also have a decent wine list if you're into that sort of thing, or perhaps hot green tea ($4.50) or bottled water ($1.00) if you're not. I stopped in for a light dinner with my friend, but we did get to try a decent number of items because they were so small. Salmon Rolls ($16.95): three pretty small chunks of salmon wrapped in nori and egg roll wrappers, fried, then cut in half on the bias. Pretty nicely crispy and cooked, but would've expected a rich salmon belly for the price/portion. Also, the sauce didn't quite work with the salmon, and the garnish of pickled red cabbage just struck me as a discordant throw-in, especially when you see it in all of the other dishes. Grilled Lamb Riblets ($16.95): tough and too chewy. That's all that matters. It's seasoned nicely and the dipping sauce is better here, but I just expect more tender lamb no matter what. Also, the pickle garnish again. Crab Garlic Noodles ($27.95): just not what I expected. Garlic noodles alone should be richer and butterier and garlickier, so I would probably have been disappointed in the relatively affordable base version ($9.95) anyway. But then to have the crab shredded into nothingness and simply not very noticeable is just an insult to intelligence. Oh, and more of the same pickles. If there's something truly captivating on the relatively small menu at District Seven Kitchen, I couldn't find it. Maybe you'll have better luck?

Yelp
found 3 PIECES OF HAIR in our tofu plate. We got the tofu plate, beef plater, and garlic noodles and all 3 were mediocre.

Yelp
This was my second time coming here for lunch and it just blew me away! District seven reminds me of elevated Vietnamese fusion food and deserves more recognition. THEIR LOMO SALTADO IS TO DIE FOR and its only available during lunch i believe! The garlic noodles aren't too salty and have great texture, the steak is tender and the fries are sooo tasty. You get this green sauce to spread over it and the whole thing is simply divine! I felt like I died and went to heaven... I've also tried their salmon rolls, which have this crispy coating on the outside! It's SO unique and unlike anything I've ever tasted before. It comes with this sweet and tangy sauce on the side too! Although the food slightly pricier than normal Vietnamese cuisine, it's so worth it! You can tell how much effort and quality goes into their dishes. The service here is amazing too!! I will be coming back.

Yelp
District seven kitchen in Vietnam town, east side San Jose. Think this place is still rather new, they may have opened up about a year ago. There was no wait during Saturday evening for dinner. Upscale Vietnamese food, a little bit more on the pricier side but the food and portions are hearty. The owner is actually the chef, so all the food is cooked perfectly with a lot of love. What we ordered : 1) Steak with veggies and garlic noodle 2) jumbo prawns with garlic noodle 3) lamb chop with garlic noodle 4) tamarind shrimp 5) tiramisu 6) pork and shrimp egg rolls Out of all the entrees, the favorites were the lamb chops (super tender and tasty) and the jumbo prawns (big juicy, well seasoned ) with garlic noodles. Garlic noodles were very tasty , and buttery. All the dishes that came with garlic noodles came with a savory sauce that paired perfectly well with the protein. The dessert was not too sweet (every Asians perfect Asian dessert comment). I will have to try the durian tiramisu next time. Overall, highly recommended. The food was very tasty.

Yelp
Beautiful dishes but unassuming, mild flavors are underwhelming for the price. Would have like to seen them offer freshly chopped chilies on the side as opposed to sambal. Service is decent. No option but to pay for water ($1/normal bottle) Pomelo salad: pomelo tastes more like grapefruit, could use some freshly chopped chilies Soft shell spring rolls: good, but when isn't anything fried? Garlic noodle lamb chop: lamb chops are well seasoned, garlic noodles are nothing special Durian tiramisu: moderate durian flavor. Very approachable if you are uncertain. For durian lovers, it will not be powerful enough

Yelp
San Jose's hidden gem that everyone should know about. The chef makes world-class food, and the service is excellent. Had the duck confit, and it was one of the best we've had.

Yelp
Solid 5 stars for this place!!! Highly recommended if you're around Vietnam Town and have no idea what to eat!!!! Service is nice and quick or maybe because I came in a quite evening!! But it's pretty good anyways. The food is wonderful and flavorful that definitely worth every penny!!! The filet mignon beef is at another level comparing to other restaurant. Absolutely comeback to try other plates

Yelp
District Seven really surprised me. Having an Asian Fusion restaurant in the heart of Vietnam Town in San Jose really elevates the plaza. The thought and care put into each other their items clearly shows in the presentation and well balanced flavors of the food. District Seven serves up some elegant dishes from fresh, buttery Chilean Sea Bass to the comforting, delicious garlic noodles. The interior is beautifully well lit with huge glass windows with a unique crackle pattern. With moss masterpieces covering the walls, it really brings a natural earthy ambiance to the restaurant. Onto the food. The garlic noodles with duck confit was clearly a favorite on our table. The duck was so tender and soft, it would just fall off the bone. The noodles were chewy and garlicky- everything you'd want in garlic noodles without being overly greasy or buttery. District Seven in a way, made garlic noodles more desirable with each bite without feeling sinful. The chilean seabass dish was the best chilean sea bass I'd ever had. The curry is what makes this dish honestly. Its creamy, hints of coconut milk really complements the fish in every way. The various colored cauliflower added a nice touch of crunchy vegetables. The Chilean sea bass was cooked to perfection. It had just the right amount of chew to it yet still buttery and flavorful. All in all, this was a solid dish. The soft shell crab spring rolls were tasty, however it felt like it was missing something. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The soft shell crab was crunchy with its deep fried goodness. Although it sounded good, nothing really stood out about it. I don't think I would order it next time. The skirt steak had the perfect amount of sear and juiciness. The skirt steak was seasoned well and paired nicely with the garlic noodles. Pandan chicken consisted of juicy tender pieces of chicken wrapped in steaming hot pandan leaves. The pandan aroma was mouth watering but the chicken didn't quite soak in the pandan flavor as much as I would have liked. The chicken was juicy and paired well with the dipping sauce. With fine dining food, comes fine dining prices. Each dish here is about $15+ with the seafood and steak costing much more. I felt like the quality of the dinner entrees was well worth its value with the amount of food they give you too. The appetizers could be improved, as they did fall short especially considering the price. Service here was friendly, professional, and incredibly efficient. I felt like I was in a fine dining restaurant with the level of professionalism and the way the staff carried themselves. We had a great dining experience and we would definitely come back to try new dishes.

Yelp
First time trying this place. Took my niece out for lunch on the weekends. Here's what I got For the small plates: Soft shelled crab spring roll 9/10. Grilled lamb Riblets 4/10 the flavor wasn't that great and it was very chewy to eat. Crab And Shrimp Toast with the green sauce if I remember that correctly. That one was good 10/10. The main entree: The salmon was very very good not dry and it very moist. The short rib was amazing, it was very tender. The garlic noodles that goes with entree was okay. I feel it was missing a side of vegetable. Lastly the drink I got was lychee lemonade. I be honest I don't taste a lot on the lychee flavor. I feel like that they pour lot of lemonade in it. The service was okay.

Yelp
I was hoping for a better experience, but the food wasn't what I was expecting. My boyfriend and I were seated quickly, but when I asked for the door to be closed because of the cold wind at night, they ended up moving us 10 minutes later once we were already settled in and the door was closed. When we asked for water, we didn't realize tap water wasn't an option and the only water given to us was $1 bottled water. The noodles were a bit too soggy for me and my boyfriend's garlic noodle with salmon plate seemed to be lacking in comparison to mine (no vegetables, only a small piece of salmon and noodles).

Yelp
I would give this place a 2.8 stars given it's not the best. I went here based off reviews and expected great food. Garlic Noodles we're not the best I would say decent. Filet mignon meat was good I just wish they would tell you it's cooked rare! The service was okay I don't find them being the most attentive. The Vietnamese coffee was okay. The shashido peppers are a 2/10 plain & basic I could have cooked them myself. Ambiance 4/10 very quiet, awkward almost.

Yelp
Upscale Vietnamese fusion spot in the middle of Vietnam Town. Mixed feelings overall, but definitely worth a try for those looking for a good tapas-style experience. Prices are on the higher side for a smaller portion of food. While I wasn't personally blown away by the food, the quality and care is certainly present. Service was definitely on their A-game, so you will be well-cared for. Parking is easy enough to find in Vietnam Town, but they've closed off one of the entrances with a door open for some better air-flow, so look for the "real" entrance as you try to find this place. To note: No tap water, *only* bottled water (for $1 each) or a beverage from their menu admittedly leaves me with a slightly sour note (more as a matter of principle than the outrageousness of the cost). Service was generally quite on-point. Waitstaff was very quick with plating and cutlery for sharing, as well as swiftly removing finished dishes. Food also came out in a rapid sequential fashion, so pacing for the meal was good. An older woman from the kitchen (whom I assume was manager/owner?) also came by every table to check on how we were finding the meal. Her rapport with some regulars definitely makes this place feel extra warm and cozier. We ordered 2 small dishes, along with a main and a dessert (looking for a lighter meal): Pomelo Salad, Pandan leaf wrapped chicken, Duck confit garlic noodles, and their durian tiramisu. = The salad was crisp, fresh, and very sour. The peanuts (strangely not mixed in?) and the fried crisps & shallots added a nice contrast to the fruit. I was definitely quite fond of this blend of flavors, though most of the punchier parts of the dish was found in the dressing in the bottom. If eaten together it held up much better, but the dressing didn't quite coat things too well. =The pandan chicken was pretty darn juicy (and I did like the leaf aroma), but a bit lacking in the amount of flavor. The pickles on the side were a good complement, but the chicken itself (and the sauce) needed a bit more oomph. =The duck confit garlic noodles just felt like two very different dishes stacked on top of each other. The duck confit portion was deliciously crispy and moist; when paired with its sauce it has a delicately sweet umami to it. I can't say the sauce blends well with the noodles though as they soften the crispy shallots (which were a plus for the garlic noodles). The noodles were also somewhat lacking in flavor as I couldn't quite taste the garlic, but I wasn't sure if it was intended to go with the sauce or not. =The durian tiramisu was good, but didn't quite feel like a tiramisu as there wasn't really any rum and the cocoa powder was quite minimal. That said, the durian flavor was very nicely blended to make a deliciously creamy filling, so I can still recommend it for a tasty finish.

Yelp
I saw this place on Yelp and wanted to try it so we came here on a Wednesday (8/19/20). We ordered on their website the Seafood Dumplings, the Garlic Noodles with Skirt Steak, and the Garlic Noodles with Airline Chicken. The food looked good from other Yelpers' pictures as well as the ones on their website. We came when our food was ready to pick up and everybody I saw was wearing a mask. The food looked good to me. They had dinner boxes for all three. The Seafood Dumplings were good and you definitely could smell the seafood when you opened the dinner box. The skirt steak in the Garlic Noodles were delicious and the same thing for the Airline Chicken. Each dinner box was enough for one person to finish and be full like us. Try them out!

Yelp
Service is friendly and accommodating. Food taste ok but don't think it worth the price. We had the lamb chops, each piece has different doneness: rare, medium well and well done. Not sure if it is intentional, but each lamb chop is too small for sharing. That day was a hot summer day, the restaurant has the door open and flies were flying around your food. We bought this to the server and ask about the indoor temperature. She told us the indoor temperature is 85 degree F and offer us some dessert. However, we do not want to stay in the restaurant any longer. We just paid and the left....

Yelp
Good ambience, relaxing music, owner on site caring about service, lovely flowers on each table. Food is ok but a bit boring, all entrees are basically different kind of meat with garlic noodle. Garlic noodle is ok, not very garlicky for my taste. The flank steak beef is not as tender as I'd like. As for drinks, there are not much choices for non alcoholic. And THEY DON'T SERVE TABLE WATER! which is ridiculous in an American restaurant. So for the minimum you have to get 1 bottle water $1 and they will bring you glasses filled with ice to serve. Bravos to the waiter but no good reflection on the business.

Yelp
COVID-19 OUTDOOR DINING (Before 12/6/2020) My heart broke when Bánh Cuốn Saigon closed and I saw that District Seven Kitchen, an upscale fusion restaurant was coming in its place. In East Man Jose? In Vietnam Town? Hmmm, not going to lie, I was leery because I make the drive from SF to Vietnam Town for cheap and delicious Vietnamese food that I can't find in SF (keyword: CHEAP). And, I'm sure others do too. ALSO ME: *Pays $25 for 5 pieces of ravioli made for ants* Well, actually....$37 when you include tax, tip, and delivery app service fees. Some of us don't blink when it comes to paying $25 for a tiny plate of pasta but lose our sh*t when it comes to bowl of AZN noodles. I appreciate a mom and pop restaurant like District Seven Kitchen bringing something different to Vietnam Town: elevated Vietnamese food made with fresh, high-quality ingredients with great service in a very hygienic, COVID safe dining environment. C O V I D - 1 9 S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S * Staff wore masks properly. * Gloves were worn and regularly changed between handling dirty plates and new ones. * A placard of dining rules are on each table, e.g. masks on at all times unless actively eating, raise hand when you need a server, etc. * Tables spaced out about 8+ feet. Heat lamps available. * QR code for menu. * Bottled water only ($1 each), no water glasses. * Utensils and napkins are in a sealed ziplock bag. You can then use the bag for your mask. * Check tray and pens sanitized between each use. M E N U While District Seven Kitchen advertises themselves as Asian fusion, I thought the food was more elevateD Vietnamese than fusion. Small menu with Apps (rolls), Salads, Garlic Noodles, and Rice Plates. Vegetarian friendly. Beer and wine available. Most dishes are in the teens and cap out at $22.95. While pricier than what you'll find in East Man Jose and in Vietnam Town, I thought the prices were in line with the quality of ingredients used. F O O D * Gỏi Cuốn Cua Lột: Soft Shelled Crab Rolls ($14.95): https://bit.ly/2Kv4xv7 Fresh and delicious with great contrasting textures - crunchy soft shelled crab and a myriad of herbs, pickled veggies, and mango for a sweet tartness. The rice paper wrap was nicely chewy and not hard. The nuớc chấm was salty, sour, and sweet with just the enough fish funk. Get this! * Chả Giò Rế Tôm Heo: Shrimp & Pork Crispy Rolls ($14.95): https://bit.ly/3oTz9p9 Made the traditional way with rice paper, the crispy rolls were shatteringly crispy and filled with a savory pork and shrimp mixture (minimal fillers). I made little wraps with the lettuce, coriander, and mint. Yes, it's a little pricey but you can taste the higher quality ingredients and the care that was put into it. Get this too! * "Bà Mua" Garlic Noodles w/ grilled skirt steak, veggies ($18.95): https://bit.ly/385HQWP The owner(s) are clearly taking customer feedback to heart. It seems like they beefed up their portions because there was an ample portion of garlic noodles and steak (~5 ounces). The wheat noodles were deliciously buttery, garlicky, and chewy. The skirt steak was overcooked and mealy but they were kind enough to bring a rare skirt steak side on the side and were very apologetic about it. The rare steak (sorry, no pic) was tender and flavorful. I enjoyed the sprinkling of cheese, crispy shallots, and housemade hot sauce which tied everything together. The garlic noodles are available with a variety of other proteins: chicken, pork chops, salmon, prawns, and lamb chops. * Durian Tiramisu ($7): https://bit.ly/2LDRQPs A must order for Durian lovers, I loved this Viet twist on a classic Italian dessert. Instead of espresso soaked lady fingers, they use a delicate sponge cake that's layered with fluffy whipped cream and fresh durian, then garnished with pirouette French vanilla cookies and blueberries. Subtly sweet, airy, creamy, and vanilla-y with that custardy durian funk. S E R V I C E Warm, friendly, and gracious. We were one of two tables during lunch and service was a little slow but we weren't in a rush. There was one server outside at all times and she was on-point with clearing empty plates and changing her gloves regularly. The sweet owner checked in with us several times and the chef even came outside to say, Hi to TT and showed us pics of his late Pomeranian. A M B I A N C E Modern and swanky with vibrant floral mural and a moss living wall in the indoor dining room. The outdoor patio was adorned with string lights, plants, succulents, and music playing which enhanced the outdoor dining atmosphere. It takes A LOT of balls to open an upscale Vietnamese restaurant in Vietnam Town and even bigger balls in the midst of a pandemic. If you're looking to support a small business serving high-quality Vietnamese eats that also takes COVID safety precautions seriously, give District Seven Kitchen a try! 4.5 stars rounded up.

Yelp
The food is super tasty. I had my go to garlic noodles and tried a couple of new dishes- crispy nori shrimp tempura, garlic noodles with chicken, truffle fries and lemongrass tofu. All of it was super tasty. I typically come on a Friday but decided to try a weekday. The service as alway was great.

Yelp
First timer, assuming they only open for dinner, though they were closed during Covid. This is more of a Asian fusion with a French twist. We saw Lomo Saltado and really trying to stay away from red meat and couldn't resist since my sister and niece was here too. We had family style, lemon grass tofu, spicy green beans, Chilean sea bass, garlic noodles with chicken breast and the lomo saltado. We cleaned it all up. The garlic noodle reminded us of a chain in SF, green beans very close to another on Irving and the lomo saltado off Mission St. Wasn't much of a crowd tonight but we never tried this place and now that we did, it was fulfilling. The only thing I would change is the music, it didn't go with the setting to me. It sounded like karaoke musical without lyrics when you walk into a store to test out their speakers. Sorry. It was hard to have a conversation because you've got to feel a certain vibe when having comfort food.

Yelp
Delicious food and hearty portion. I didn't think I had anymore room in my belly but when I had the tiramisu I had to finish it - what a great and unexpected fusion dessert. Service was kind and thoughtful as well.

Yelp
FLAVOR (3.5/5): Had their garlic noodles and shrimp and pork egg rolls. Their eggrolls are crispy and not oily at all! Loved the filling. It's hard to come by good eggrolls in restaurants. Their garlic noodles with steak and bok choy was decent. The noodles lacked a bit of flavor, not enough garlic. The steak was a bit chewy, we were not asked for what cook we preferred. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (4/5): Decent plating for the food. Loved the interior! Nice tables and the decor gave off a really relaxing vibe. I can tell they spent time creating an environment for their customers which I appreciated. SERVICE (4/5): We were allowed to choose our table. Our server was quiet but nice! The owner herself came to check our table for satisfaction. TAKEAWAYS: Pricey upscaled Vietnamese food! Decent flavors, but not blown away by their creations. They have outdoor seating available and indoor seating is open as well!

Yelp
We ordered under "family sharing" portion of the menu but the size of the dishes were tiny. The sea bass and veggie dishes were barely enough for 1!

Yelp
Tastes great. It's definitely not your mom and dad's Viet restaurant though. The dishes were what I would describe as appealing to a clientele that goes to the Peninsula or SF, less so East San Jose, which has lots of legit Viet restaurants.

Yelp
If you like Asian American food, then it is a place for you. Their portion is small not enough to share more like individual than family dishes.

Yelp
This is an upscale Vietnamese restaurant! Prices are expensive, but we'll worth it! I got the filet mignon garlic noodles and it was fantastic. The meat was very tender and the noodles were perfectly flavored. The soft shell crab spring rolls were also delicious. The crab was fried so it was crispy. The nice combination of mint and lettuce really complimented everything. Be prepared to drop a lot of money at this place, but at least the food is good. Also if u ask for water, they give u water bottles that u have to pay.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely delicious! I loved the soft shell crab rolls, the papaya salad, and the garlic noodles. The food is a lot more modern and expensive than your traditional Vietnamese food, but the quality is there. The portions are big and the flavors are so rich and flavorful. I hope this place stays open for a while. It's a much needed addition to Viettown. The service is very good, better than I expected. Please go here and support this gem of a restaurant!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try District Seven for months and finally had the chance to go on Thursday night. We ordered the green papaya and grilled shrimp salad, pork belly buns, and garlic noodles with flank steak. In my opinion, the garlic noodles were missing the garlic taste, but it was good nonetheless. My favorite was the pork belly buns. It sort of reminded me of a banh mi but on a steamed bun. The papaya salad was a nice light side dish to balance out the heavy dishes. It had strips of mango that added a refreshing sweet and sour flavor. The menu is on the pricier side but worth checking out!

Yelp
Came here because my friend really wanted the garlic noodles which we ordered a plate to share so we can try other things. We ended up sharing the soft shell crab spring roll as well. We got the garlic noodles without any meat and it was okay. Basically just spaghetti with a hint of butter and parmesan. I personally couldn't really taste the garlic so they could have added a lot more. The first bite was good but the rest of the bites were pretty bland. The star of the show was definitely the soft shell crab rolls. It was bright and fresh, and paired really well with the fish sauce. The shell was crunchy and had good chunks of crab inside. Overall, okay place but pricey for what you get!

Yelp
My amazing bosses took our office out for lunch :) Yes... our staff members are so spoiled. We had the chance to try multiple dishes and I found everything quite delicious! There was a lot of attention to detail on the presentation and to the actual taste. I appreciate being greeted by the chef. The decor is also pleasing. There's a really cool moss wall. This place is a hidden gem in Viet nam town. I would definitely come back :)

Yelp
My friends and I went this place once. I really had good impressions with all of their dishes especially the garlic noodles. I kept in my mind this place to take my daughter. Finally, We went there today, but, unfortunately, it changed business as pho restaurant...

Yelp
Went here with my parents, and expected for them to disapprove, especially when it's on the fancy side compared to all the Vietnamese restaurants they are used to. While I was open to giving it a chance, I have to admit I had the same doubts about authenticity to Vietnamese and Asian flavors. Fortunately, everything we ordered was a hit and my parents and I were pleased with the innovations that didn't stray too far and we appreciated the freshness of ingredients. The green papaya and grilled shrimp salad was delicious, with the perfect amount of sour, sweet, salty and umami! The soft shell crab spring rolls were also tasty and satisfying. Lastly, the three seasons garlic noodles were simple but so delectable! Since we weren't too hungry, we didn't order more beyond that but I can't wait to go back and try more dishes!
