2404 Pub with interesting menu. Solid 4. On the fluffier and sweeter side than the traditional firm pretzels (my preference) but tastes good— imagine a brioche knit with salt. Slightly too oily. Quite expensive at almost $18 for just a pretzel but it’s such a phenomena and fun to share :3 Buffalo wings taste good too. Can be crowded and busy on game days.

We went in during happy hour and enjoyed the $5 burgers and $6 loaded hot dog. The food was fresh; the garden salad's veggies were crisp. Can't beat $3draft beers. I was pleasantly surprised to find this good quality food at these prices. It's a dive bar with good food and friendly staff. One of the few affordable bars in the upper West side of NYC.

An important neighborhood establishment. A rare bar where different age/social groups commingle, hard to feel out of place there. Food is definitively above average, they do great things with mussels making it rather singular in that it's a dive bar where you are more than on point getting seafood.

The “smash burger” was a regular burger and smelled like BO. The onion rings had zero flavor and the waitress had a really judgy reaction to our drink orders. Really hot in the back.

My goto spot in the neighborhood always comes through. Dive Bar 96th. The infamous Grilled Cheese on Sourdough Bread. Cannot go wrong with this one. Packed with perfectly melted cheese along with some Fries or Tots.. Comes with. tomato soup.. Bingo! Hits the spot. Wings were banging too! The service is always on point. Great staff. Watch some games on one of their many screens. Always have some cool music playing lightly in the background. Non pretentious. Fun vibes. I went here for drinks before dinner since I was waiting for a table and I was pleasantly surprised!! This place lives up to their name as a dive bar lol. The drinks were good and the bar was cozy, but not too packed. I can't speak on the food since I just went for drinks, and didn't even know they served food until reading the other reviews on here. Overall, in terms of service, ambiance, and drinks, I would return! It's very cute, cozy, and not super crazy compared to other dive bars I've been to

Really great dive bar with a large and rotating beer me menu. Great menu. The muffaletta sandwich is a favorite. They have trivia on most Tuesday nights.

Dive Bar was perfect for exactly what it is, a dive bar! Happy Hour is great for beers or well drinks. Our server Allyce was the cutest and super nice! Would definitely come grab a drink after work again

Dive bar is cool, friendly, nice draft beer list. I only went for a drink I didn't eat but the food looked really good. It was a nice local spot to have a drink, hangout with friends and watch a game. Next time I'm definitely going to have some food. Yea nothing wrong with this place I would go back for sure.

It was okay. The sliders are good. The service was erratic. He went from being attentive to disappearing and then I have no idea who are server was.

i Love this joint! Played on softball team back in days. Place has changed since then, but for is very good. No longer hang there, but I still get my food to go b4 heading to work. We still have a place near the Dive Bar but don't spend much time in NYC these days. When we're back we head over to the Dive Bar first thing. It has that perfect Old NYC look and feel and a wonderful diverse crowd who love it and its diversity. Great beer selection and bar food and incredibly priced happy hour food specials during the afternoon and early evening. Had a $5 Smashburger there 2 days ago that was shockingly good!

I love this bar! It's a great local place to hang out with friends and get drinks in the Upper West Side. Our favorite is the trivia tuesdays! The trivia host is very fun and we look forward to it every week.

Scientist need to clone the waitress who was serving the outdoor seating and put her in every bar everywhere. Fast, attentive without being obtrusive, and friendly. She was outstanding. I like Dive Bar because it's a true neighborhood bar. The fact that they serve food is a big plus. I couldn't hate on fried pickles if you put a gun to my head. The kitchen was on top of it as well. Lots of people with sports jerseys on so if you're into the sports ball, this is your place. They even have two flatscreens in the outside seating. There's nothing in the neighborhood that compares. It's a casual place to linger and have a conversation (except on Karaoke Nite) and enjoy a rum & coke or beer in a proper glass. They're also one of the few places that are open past midnight. In this sleepy neighborhood it's a godsend. Big props to the dive bar that isn't much of a dive.

First impression: Your typical neighborhood dive bar. Has plenty of TVs, plenty of people stopping by for a meal after work. The crowd is pretty diverse with people doing happy hour, coming to watch the game, blow off steam after work, meet up with friends for a drink, etc etc. After the Halloween Parade, my friend and I stopped in for some late night noms and a drink for her (not me I had work early the next morning). We ate at the bar and the bartender was really attentive (answered all her questions about the different beers they had on tap and helped her pick one out). Service was fast, prompt and no nonsense. For a quick late night meal, it was perfect. The Noms: I ordered chicken wings, bartender helped me pick out the carolina BBQ flavor, which was really good. The celery sticks that accompanied the wings were fresh and crisp, even at the end of the night. The food was a guilty late night meal but so worth it because it was no frills and everything you want and need at the end of a long day of work and night of Halloween festivities In Conclusion: I've come here for wings often before the pandemic but haven't been in almost two years due to lockdowns and pandemic restrictions... but glad I found my way back. 10/10 would recommend.

I dig and we dig. Ample selections of beers from all caliber. Food is also pretty good for a "Dive" bar. Service.... I mean seriously.. it's great. The ladies are always happy even with unruly customers. The bar guys are quick to respond and while I don't need a smile from them, maybe others do. Ha.. They check for Covid.. so bring ya sh1t ready.

Literally wandered in after a 4 hour happy hour at Calle Ocho up the block... Immedietly loved the place, a replica of a Belgium pub that I stumbled into years ago in Ghent..lots going on here, loved the festive lights. I can't remember the last time that a tap list was not overloaded with PIA's, and to create a flight out of Belgium beers was like a walk down memory lane! Duvell, Le Choffee..all old familiar friends prior to the US Craft Beer invasion. I remember when ordering a le fin du monde or a grimbergen double was as interesting as we were able to get. Friendly bartender, trivia was about to begin but it was a school night and we had a long journey home. Mama's Too is a block away as well... Looking forward to returning soon

Love this place! Good wings, good fries, good vibe, good service. This is a subjective thing but they're often playing really good music in here, lots of classic oldies.

The food is generally great, with the poutine being a major standout. This was the first poutine I ever had, fifteen years ago, and it is still the highwater mark for me. The beer selection is vast, but I can't help wishing they had more local IPAs on the menu - take that Jai Alai off! We can get that anywhere. The service is always prompt, and as for the atmosphere - well, the name says it all, doesn't it?

I've always loved this restaurant. I came here with a group of friends to watch the Superbowl and I loved the experience. The staff was so accommodating with the volume of the television, our number of food and drink orders. Even though the kitchen staff was slammed with orders from the patrons coming in and out, you never would have guessed because of how quick and efficient they were. I love every experience I have when I come here. I am looking forward to my next experience. I always do. The Dive Bar is always number one in my book.

Came to dive bar on a weeknight at 11 pm because it was one of the very few places that had outdoor seating and was still open at that time in the neighborhood. We were seated outside but it took some time before the server came with waters for us. Got the dive bar burger and the everything wings. We were almost served some other party's food at one point. When the food finally came, the fries that came with the burger were cold (they had so much potential to be delicious though because they had that crispy coat to it). Burger was pretty good, I was a pretty big fan of the bun and the patty was cooked well. The wings were perfectly crispy but lacked some flavor (perhaps a little more salt would've helped?). While there were a few hiccups in the overall dining experience, dive bar met my needs for a super late dinner.

found this place in 2000 as I was looking at the neighborhood to possibly move. ended up moving nearby, this has become my sports bar and more. cool owners, great teams of fun and entertaining bartenders and staff thru the years. carried me thru covid year...met so many great folks, and more. nice variety of food, beyod just bar food... its my 2nd kitchen. Always changing variety of interesting beers. I just wish they still had the pool table.... mm 2022 also, don't be bringing any outside food, when you're at the dive... order from the dive bar.

I asked a member of staff if they always play Soca seeing that this is the second time I'm experiencing this here. This Trini chick said, sometimes when they're at work they like to play it to feel at home. Can't beat that because I certainly felt at home! I like the play on the word Dive. I yelped for a dive bar in the area because I love 'em but this bar is actually a Dive Bar. Their theme is all about Diving, the ocean, not what we know as Dive bars. Got it? My neighborhood bar "go to." Don't let the name fool you. It's nicely decorated, clean, with great cocktails and above-average bar food -- quite above average. What's really outstanding? The service. Awesome people behind the bar. Even the cantankerous owner is cool to talk to.

Service was very very slow and spotty - not very good. The chicken wings were really bad as well - would not recommend them for their food. Their prices were much too high for the quality of food and service we got.

Big fan of this place. I've been coming here for about 6-7 years, and it always hits right. It's a no frills neighborhood bar. They have rotating craft beers along with the big names if you aren't into craft, and their bourbon selection can sometimes be pretty good. Nice employees and nice owners. Well worth stopping in.

Recently, at Dive Bar on Manhattan's Upper West Side, I got a lovely hazy IPA and an absolutely incredible Guinness beef stew that rivaled my grandparents home cooking. The Rye whiskeys were on the house from Lee, the Best bar owner in NYC! If you are looking for a pub forward dining experience in terms food, Dive Bar is an excellent choice. Lee is always adding both innovative recipes and classics with a twist to the menu. You won't be disappointed!

Open window set up for grab and go beer and cocktails. Friendly bartender. Reasonably priced. Decent enough selection of brews. Beer was cold. Social distancing for the win. That's all I gotta say about that.

Bad experience with the management - went there on Tuesday night without knowing it was trivia night. They apparently have a $10 minimum per person if you want to play trivia. (side note:there were a fair number of empty seats so it wasn't totally packed). And I didn't want to drink too much so I decided to take a pause on ordering my next drink when a waitress cleared mine and other person's drinks away without our getting a chance to order another. Even though we weren't really playing trivia, the manager came up to our table and essentially threatened to kick us out if we didn't meet the $10 minimum, saying "We have to pay rent. And you guys were there at the beginning of the night and we gotta make money so if you're not drinking, we basically got no use for ya". While I understand that making ends meet in Manhattan as a business is tough, you just don't talk to paying customers that way. Won't be back, and suggest you don't go there either! Update after hearing back from the bar - I Was drinking that evening And met the $10 minimum, apparently just not fast enough for the management. Their response is incredibly telling and says that they don't value their customers. This bar, and it's management, can go screw

Cool spot but inconsistent. First visit was a 2.5, second a 4 so giving an average of 3 rating. Service inconsistent as well but in their defense they seem short staffed.

This place is my Cheers! It's always a good option for food or draft beers. They have an extensive menu, including vegan and vegetarian options. The veggie poutine made with mushroom gravy is my go-to indulgence. I love the staff, especially Jesse!

Diiiiiiive right in! This place is the dive of the UWS for me and countless others. The daily stream of regulars and newbies keep this place interesting, packed and a very social watering hole. A good place to have a bite and a drink, alone or with a group. This place looks small but it isn't and I'd strongly recommend bringing any size group in for a good time. Although the bathroom is tiny and can make anyone claustrophobic, it gets the job done. I cannot think of a time that I have not enjoyed myself here! It's a bar so I wouldn't bring kids, although I have seen some kids, with adults, at the booths during the day. Before you order look at the chalkboard with the extensive beer list!!

The fries here are incredible, and the drinks are great too. I got the WAP (the Paloma), and it was great and very strong. The bartenders are excellent and very kind. The vibe of the bar is casual, laid back, and comfortable yet fun. Trivia nights on Tuesday are particularly fun. Lots of people come alone, and people come in groups as well. I will definitely be back. Not many bars have a full menu of high quality food like this one. I highly recommend this bar.

First time here by myself. Was looking forward some hot wings close by and stopped in to get some. The atmosphere wasn't what I was expecting. I was a bit nervous going in alone, after all it was called "the Dive Bar" by surprisingly It was very friendly and open. The bartenders were especially friendly and warm. However, the food was not pleasing. It probably was because I took it home and the steam caused the wings and fried pickles to get real soggy. On another note, I passed them to a neighbor and she loved them. I will go back and try them again this time eating in! Lol

I just moved into the neighborhood and saw this place. Figured it would be good to stop by for a burger, cold beer, and some playoff basketball on TV. I walked in, was totally ignored, finally asked the bartender if a seat at the bar was available given that there were two dirty glasses on the counter. He claimed that those customers had just left and that the seat was open. I stood around for a while before asking and can tell you that those dirty glasses were on the bar counter for a bit. In any case, I sit down and he tells me that he'll be right with me. Goes iff to the other side if the bar and does I don't know what. I sit there... waiting, waiting. Nothing. I tried to make eye contact with anyone to just put my order but no luck. After waiting a bit more, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I will not be returning... which is too bad because this would be the one place I'd become a regular. Problem with places like this, though, only the "regulars" get service. I'd give it no stars but that is not allowed. I do not recommend this place. To. Anyone!

Dude, yes! Ate here earlier with a friend who recommended it. I had the bleu cheese and bacon burger cooked medium rare. Not only was the burger lusciously pink and cooked to perfection, but the seasoning was phenomenal too! Bacon was amazing as it was cooked through but not burnt. Onion rings were so light and well fried so they weren't greasy at all. The bourbon bbq chincken wings were delightful too! Great friends, great food and Toni, our server was amazing too! Perfect lunch.

We had a great time, the food outstanding the bourbon wings, the lobster Mac and cheese the Mac and cheese awesome Jessie was our waitress the drinks were perfect we look forward to going back again.

Really great sports bar for watching games and great food. We were in town visiting friends and wanted to watch the Final Four - our server was great. Although crowded and busy, she got our order right away. She recommended a vegetarian Ruben that was absolutely the best. The burgers were really great as were the fries. Not sure what oil they used but it made the fries really light, crispy and tasty. Hadn't been here in years and was really glad. Felt like the cozy neighborhood place I remembered.

Pretty damn good place to catch your NFL Sunday football as they have all of the games playing on the many screens setup along the bar/restaurant. The beer selections that they have is a little overwhelming, but there's definitely something for everyone! The lobster mac and cheese is amazing here and would be something I would get again when I come here to watch another major sporting event. The other food items on the menu? You're going to have to hit Control (Command for Mac users) F and find what you're looking for.

Great drink selection with a wide range of alcohol, Food menu looks amazing although we made the mistake of going with the everything bagel wings... absolutely nauseating. If you like the most bland wings in the world paired with what tastes like sour cream, these are for you. We also had the poutine and Mac & cheese which were absolutely amazing hence the 4 stars. Would recommend this place while also advising to stay away from those everything wings. We really enjoyed this place minus the wings, would advise everyone to check it out!

Dive Bar lives up to its name, but in the best possible way. It is unpretentious, comfortable, and has great food! I loved our server, Olivia, who took great care of us all night. Go early to get a good spot, especially on Trivia Night. This was one of the most efficient bar trivias I've ever experienced, and though we didn't win, we really enjoyed it. Eat the Chicken Tenders and Dive Fries (they're just regular fries, but they're delicious with a beer).

Solid four stars. The staff is very friendly, especially Megan. She's extremely efficient and... nice. Nice bar staff in NYC is a rare find, and it is so much appreciated. Dive Bar tends to have rarer beers on tap than most bars in the area. Only problem is that they tend to kick quickly due to the high demand. I appreciate that they always have veggie and vegan options. I appreciate that they can legitimately make classic cocktails. Thank you, Dive Bar.

Great happy hour options! We sat outside and were promptly served by very friendly and attentive waitstaff. We only had drinks but it was nice to be able to order beer by the pitcher (kinda rare in New York). Not sure how their nightlife scene is but would definitely come back again during the day.

Great sports bar. Lots of TVs side by side throughout the bar so you can easily watch a couple games without even turning your head. Wide selection of whiskeys. Great selection of draft beers too with a mix of crafts, locals, and macros to suit everyone's preferences. They also have hard cider, hard seltzer, and wines on tap too! They've it a kitchen in the back serving up some bar food too. I didn't look over their menu, but they had my favorite bar food: mozzarella sticks.

Great wings. Get the Stella / wings special with buffalo sauce and enjoy the game. Recommended for a no-frills drink night.

Pretty good bar, tons of seats, air conditioned, and they have relatively cheap drinks (if 6$ for a Guinness is cheap, that is). While the overall vibe is OK, though I have to say, the music is a bit too loud (even though they were playing some good stuff). Lost my voice a bit screaming back and forth at the table. Then again, I'm old, so perhaps it's just me and my crappy ears. As for the bartenders; they are hit and miss. For example, one guy who served us was quick, pleasant and personable. But there was also a female bartender there who was unbearably rude and dismissive. After getting her attention to order drinks, she makes eye contact, gives a shiteating grin, and walks away to do something else. Happened to a few people in our group.

I'm always surprised by how much I like this place! I've lived in Manhattan Valley and Morninside Heights areas since moving to New York, and the bar selection up - at least if you want to have even a moderately positive experience - is grim. So this place is truly a breath of fresh air. I've been here on a number of occasions and it's always a different experience. On weeknights it's not hard to find a seat, but most recently I went on a Friday night around 8:30/9 and it was absolutely packed. I can only speak to the whiskeys and beer here - but both have yet to disappoint. My one complaint about last Friday is that my rye came in a tiny, warm glass. Firstly: I don't want a warm glass. I tend to like my rye neat or with one or two ice cubes, but I'm actually glad I got it on the rocks on this particular occasion. Otherwise, it probably would have been warm. And for a place with a fairly extensive whiskey/scotch selection I'd hope to get something at least resembling a whiskey glass. This is just a minor complaint though. Also - they gave us straws with our rye. Who drinks straight liquor with a straw? I suppose that's just their thing, but still a tad weird. So other than the small/warm glass with a straw to boot, I'd still give the drinks a solid four stars. They have Templeton, so can't knock them too much. Ambiance is great. The name of this place might drive people away (or, alternatively, attract a "divey" crowd, whatever that means), but this place isn't what I'd call a true dive bar. It's a great neighborhood hangout type of place. Good for small groups and great music. There was actually a group of maybe 10 people having a party with a buffet when I went on Friday. I wouldn't have taken note of this if they weren't all in pirate attire (not a typo...). I love that this is an option in my neighborhood. I'd like to avoid Columbia bars at all costs if I want to stay local, so this is a much better alternative.
