The Best New Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Coronado Island’s hot new hotel the Bower comes with a vibey rooftop restaurant: Dive is a day-to-night destination serving breakfast plates (try the lemon lox tartine with red onion marmalade and crispy capers), smoothies, and bloody marys in the morning and sunset snacks (like a very San Diego-appropriate fish taco plate with battered mahi-mahi, cabbage slaw, and avocado crema) in the evening. The full bar offers a fun selection of island-time-style drinks, wine, and lagers. For those coming around lunch hour, find easy handhelds such as a lemon-dill crab roll, patty melt, and crispy chicken sandwich." - Helen I. Hwang

This was a great experience! The staff are very friendly and the food and cocktails are delicious. It’s worth it to make a reservation as it guarantees you will get a spot with a table. You can also just drop in if you want to hang out at the bar. I love how they incorporated the historic neon signs from the original motel behind the bar and on the side of the hotel. The blue and pink neon signs at night echo those vibes of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe’s era.

I was thrilled to learn that Dive just opened. I love that Coronado has a few new trendy spots to balance out our tried and true local favorites. Dive was able to accommodate our spontaneous walk in visit Sunday afternoon. The host was kind and welcoming and we sat at the bar while we waited for a table. Drinks: my friend liked her bourbon cocktail, but my mezcal cocktail was bland and uninteresting. (Disappointing for a $16 drink!) Food: we ordered the sliders. Good flavor but a bit dry and hard. They overcooked them. The potato side- something between a chip and a fry- was delicious. We ordered the crab toast, but were served the shrimp toast. One soft squishy piece of toast with something akin to a paste spread on it. Tasteless. The arugula was the best thing about this dish. The heat lamps were not working. (They’re working on this though.) The vibe is great. Location is wonderful, right across from the Hotel Del. It’s a beautiful space, but some improvements could definitely be made. I’m hoping these are just new restaurant growing pains.

I was so excited to hear about a new rooftop bar on the island and it did not didsapoint! It was slightly windy and chilly at first but then the sun came out and it was perfect! I usually don’t talk about a restaurants fries but you NEED to try them! Very friendly staff and a healthy and delicious menu, a great spot to enjoy your afternoon in the sun with great food and drinks!

The views and space are great, but unfortunately the staff really took away from the experience. The servers were cold and unwelcoming. No greeting, no eye contact, no effort to make anyone feel welcome. It wasn’t even busy, but they acted like we were a bother. We had two drinks and decided to leave.

Google
We tried to go here for lunch and were very excited to try the food but unfortunately there is really no parking - street parking is VERY full, and they only offer valet for $35 which is quite high considering patrons will be spending 30-50 per person. The review is not based on food quality only on accessibility since we were unable to make our reservation due to parking.

Google
We loved the decor, scenery and the overall vibe. Service initially was pretty good, but we were moved to a more comfortable table and got a different server who was very disappointing. To summarize, he didn’t write anything down, we had to wait 10 minutes after getting our appetizers to get set ups, then he didn’t know how many were in our party ( he brought 3 place setting for 4 of us,) we waited ~ 30 minutes for a second beer to be delivered and close to an hour for our entrees. Minimal check ins during this whole time, finally got some assist from the manager and our initial server, but minimal apology for the poor service, just repeatedly told “ I gotcha” when asked where beverages and food were…Lots of potential but quite embarrassed that we brought out of town guests here.

I went here for what was supposed to be brunch, from what I was told. 11:30 am and there was no brunch at all, not even coffee! The waitress wasn't the friendliest, she said there's no coffee in the entire building. So I had to walk down to Better Buzz to get a coffee and come back and since they did not have any brunch items I got an egg sandwich too, before my 'lunch' arrived. There were very little options on the menu. It seems like this place is only for drinks. Cute place though.

Google
Such an amazing place. The atmosphere was so cool. The service was wonderful. A must visit restaurant in Coronado. Shirley Temple and Crown City Bubbles were outstanding.

Yelp
First: this place is amazing, great vibe, great view, very comfortable. Service: maybe everyone is new, we got wrong menus, lack of knowledge of food being served, inexperienced staff, one of the people in our group asked for a cappuccino and he didn't know what that was, so he asked for American coffee, the server didn't know if they had that, said he would check and never returned. Lastly they completely forgot all of our desert. Food: overall it was good, we were all satisfied with what the had with the exception of the potatoes, they were so over seasoned they we not editable, we had a mountain of potatoes on every plate that none could eat. Conclusion: would definitely be back and I understand they are new but training is in order, hopefully they figure it out soon

Yelp
This place is not a place I would be spending my money moving forward. Showed up with my lady, and was greeted with just an ugly personality, they eventually sat us after 30 min, when I called in for a reservation prior to coming and was told to " just come in" it was NOT a busy day or time. Proceeded to wait 15 minutes to get a server to come to us, and let me repeat, it was not busy Then another 30/45 minutes to get a check from the server as well Again, let me repeat, it was not busy. Honestly, great idea, but whoever is running the establishment, needs to re-train people here to be more welcoming and do their job.

Yelp
This popped up as a new rooftop bar so I had to give it try! I saw somewhere that Happy Hour was from 4-6 pm but I made reservations in advance for 6pm just in case I didn't make it in time. When I arrived, amidst looking for parking in the 4th of July weekend, I was told that the Happy Hour wasn't available! So basically, I was rushing for nothing. The hostess did say she might mention something to the manager to at least waive a drink or discount for the hassle but it never came into fruition. The menu is not extensive and if you want something substantial, there are only a few items that would make you full. I opted for the Gold + Black, since I've had other versions of this in other high end restaurants. The chicken nuggets were super crispy and I can taste a little of caviar. More would be better though or even bigger pearled caviar so that you can taste it more. Also, something to go with the nuggets like a side of fries would make this dish even better. I tasted the sliders, which were okay, although quite filling. My favorite were the fries because it was super crispy and you get quite a lot. The drinks were pretty good and refreshing and I loved the view! Service was kinda slow but it is a holiday weekend. Highly recommend reservations but it appears that ppl weren't waiting too long for their seats. Price point is on the higher end because of the view and the fact that it's right next to Hotel Del.

Yelp
Not a friendly place. Rude. So many other high-end places to go in Coronado Went to brunch one morning food was ok but came back to show some out-of-town guests and not allowed to go up and view. Really?

Yelp
Loved this place, tasty food, nice presentation, great ambiance it has it all! Had a wonderful time! Cant wait to go back and try other things in the menu!

Yelp
Dive is supposedly the only rooftop bar and restaurant on Coronado Island. It's located on the top level of the Bower Hotel which is across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado. Because it faces south, the view is mainly of the Hotel Del and then the ocean off in the distance. Enter the external elevator to the right of the driveway and press the button to reach the fourth floor. The bar was to the right when you exited. It had eight seats and across from that were a few round high-top tables. To the left was more seating, some of which was under canopy cover. Because I came for dinner, a one-page menu entitled "Sunset Snacks & Supper Starts" was handed to me after I sat down at a high-top. Nine small/large plates, two salads, and three desserts were listed. I ordered the Dive Melt Sliders which featured a set of three mini burgers containing American wagyu, habanero jack cheese, caramelized onion, and mustard aioli. A side of Bower Fries came with the order. The thick cut spuds were sprinkled with dive seasoning, and a cup of herb aioli was provided for dipping. One reason why my rating wasn't higher was that after a waitress placed my order, she never came back to check on me. Only when the bartender took the time to come around the counter to ask how I was doing, that was when I inquired about the status of my food. It was over 20 minutes from ordering to when I received a platter. The place was less than half full so the delay wasn't because the kitchen was slammed. The sliders were okay, nothing special. I actually liked the fries better because they were extra crispy from being double fried. The aioli was the perfect dip for these fries. Based on the food quality, price, and service, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dining experience at Dive.

Yelp
We made a quick stop here at DIVE on their second week of being open at the Rooftop of Bower Hotel before heading to the Naval Base. We got seated quickly and made our order, we ordered: *GREEN ZEN (SPINACH SMOOTHIE) *LEMON LOX TARTINE *DIVE BREAKFAST PLATTER It was my first time trying a SPINACH smoothie, and surprisingly I liked it, I could really taste the spinach in it. I eat a lot of Spinach, but I never thought I would like it as a drink :) The LEMON LOX TARTINE was way too Salty, but eating it with everything else on the plate made it manageable. My husband's plate was the DIVE BREAKFAST PLATTER, it actually had a pretty good portion, but I remembered not liking the sausage part, it had an unpleasant taste for my tastes, but it was a good platter, it will fill you up for sure. The staff here are nice. We got an easy parking on the side street, so after eating we walked around to see the Ocean nearby.

Yelp
Damn. Perfect experience. Hard to admit they did 100% right 100% of the time. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. This is a tapas place and we took good advantage of this and had the yellowtail crudo and house made ponzu. Wow to the tenth power. The fish tacos were an 9.5 out of 10 Now... $12 for fries?!?! Spendy but wow again. Worth it. Seriously. Get them. Side plates are warm which is a nice thing as the food stays warm. We were not rushed. Each course came out in a timely and paced manner. Our server, Courtney, was amazing. Steered us towards the best options and drinks. Speaking of- 10 out of 10 there, too. Not sure what else can be said. I was in food service for years and to tonight they exceeded all expectations. Go. Enjoy.

Yelp
Went to the Naval Base Coronado and after we had Breakfast at DIVE. This Dive is a rooftop bar and restaurant located at the Bower Hotel with a beautiful view of the Ocean and Hotel Del. Dive is the only Rooftop Bar and Restaurant so far in Coronado. Upon arriving, the Valet directed us to the Elevator, and pressed 4R to to go straight up to Dive. Got seated right away and gave us a menu to choose from their Breakfast and Lunch , my wife chose Breakfast. We ordered a Spinach SMOOTHIE, LEMON LOX TARTINE, and DIVE BREAKFAST PLATTER. My Wifey love her Spinach smoothies, my Dive Breakfast platter size portion was in a big plate, and everything was good except for the weird sausage, I hope they change it coz it has a weird taste, it's hard to explain it but it is not what I wanted. My Wife Lox Tartine, the salmon on red onion marmalade was good and so was the Salmon on lemon creme fraiche. But eating the Salmon by itself was way too Salty, like eating Salt! I hope on our next visit that part of the Salmon is less saltier. Service was quick, Food is so and so, and we didn't have a hard time looking for parking. Summer is almost here, I hope they added a few umbrellas coz there were only 3 ones there when we came and I had to move one closer to us coz we kind of burning already from the Sun, or maybe consider putting an Awning. The view is nice with a nice breeze.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at this new rooftop in Coronado! Good is divine and cocktails are so yummy. The staff made our brunch!
google avatar

Maria D.

Yelp
Came for the matcha cocktail but mainly stayed for the views. Our serve had a great personality & was very helpful! Her name was Bree (I hope I spelled that right lol) The place is super cute. Only tried 2 drinks and both were very tasty. The bartender was also very helpful & made sure we enjoyed our cocktails. It was a Monday so very slow which I didn't mind because we came to enjoy the environment plus views since it's rooftop. There's A lot of meter parking but they also have valet Would come back to try out the food.

Yelp
Love this place! Pretty and relaxed vibe, right across from Hotel Del. We went on a Sunday morning/afternoon and made reservations, but didn't really need them because it wasn't crowded. The seats are ultra comfy, we got the little couch corner near the music. The food was yummy, we got the egg plate and the French toast. We also tried the sangrias, I got a mocktail and they were both tasty. The food and drinks are yummy, and not heavy. The perfect combo we wanted and by the beach. Found parking not too far away, and it's easy to find. We just took the stairs up. The waitress was very friendly and the service was great. Grab brunch there and then head over to the Del to explore. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
The rooftop is such a great view, seating is comfortable and umbrellas for the sunny mid-day. They were out of a few things when I went for brunch but were very accommodating. Don't have a GF menu but again very accommodating and easily swapped ingredients to make my meal GF. No fuss, loved it! I got the lox tartine, made GF with heirloom tomatoes instead of toast. To drink had the glamour splash cocktail and it was the right mix of bubbles, tart and not too sweet!

Yelp
If you're looking for a place that serves both cocktails and views with zero notes--Dive is your spot. Tucked up on the 4th floor (yes, there's an elevator, so your outfit stays fresh), this rooftop gem in Coronado hits all the right vibes. Service? Immaculate. Drinks? Dangerously dialed-in. Bartender Fedo? The MVP. Fedo didn't just take our order--he asked the right questions like some kind of cocktail therapist. Before we knew it, we were sipping the exact drinks we didn't know we needed. Mine tasted like sunset in a glass with just the right kick to say, "you earned this." Speaking of sunsets--this view deserves its own Instagram account. Golden hour here is a full-on mood. We got a couple apps to go with our drinks because we're responsible like that. The fries with garlic sauce? Game. Over. I'm still dreaming about them. Crispy, garlicky, and somehow both fancy and snacky at the same time. Parking is street-only, but it's Coronado--so just breathe deep, channel your inner island calm, and you'll find a spot. Bottom line: you take the elevator up, you come down a little more in love with life (and garlic fries).

Yelp
Wow! The tri-tip was absolutely mouthwatering, the macaroni balls were pure perfection, and the cauliflower with Dijon dip was unexpectedly delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection -- seriously, a flavor-packed masterpiece from start to finish. The drinks have always been on point. The views from this location are incredible. Quaint but a must visit location.

Yelp
Okay so we are locals and have tried it twice. First time I didn't rate because I figured hey they are new and working out their stuff. That day it was a week day and it took time even though there were maybe 5 people there. Today we brought friends hoping since it was a Saturday it would be spot on. We only stopped in for a drink and it wasn't too crowded. We ordered 4 drinks, our waitress was sweet but we had 2 bottles of water before our drinks were brought. I went to the bathroom at one point and the bar tender and 2 waitresses were chatting as I went in and as I left not doing anything, just chatting at the end of the bar. Again, our waitress super kindly came up to us and said "hopefully your drinks will be out soon." I didn't get her name but she had curly brown hair. I ordered the exact same drink today but it was purple, the first time it was not. A friend ordered the Bloody Mary and it was bad. Husband got a 4/10 old fashion. 1 star for view and 1 star for our kind waitress. This place needs a push to get going and I'm hoping to see that happen. Sadly can't recommend.

Yelp
If you're looking for a nice rooftop bar in Coronado you need to come by this place. The staff was friendly. The view of the Hotel Del is beautiful. It got a bit cool as the sun was coming down and there weren't enough heaters to go around. But definitely worth stopping by and checking out this great spot. Didn't have food but had drinks. Tried ordering a Capri Crème but they were out. Good reason to come back!!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute, vibey rooftop in Coronado! We came on Sunday evening and got seated right away. We tried The Duchess and The Boulevard, loved both. The overall atmosphere was great, staff were all friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back and try more drinks at sunset! Not sure if any night they have a live DJ, but if they did, it'd make it even better!
google avatar

Lata S.

Yelp
Been here twice, have had the lunch/appetizer menu both times. The food is ridiculously good, especially the sliders. Drinks are delicious, service is great, love the location. Highly highly recommend.

Yelp
Awful service - Amarillis provided very low tier service at what should be an upscale rooftop. She was very unprofessional throughout the evening, made multiple mistakes & was very slow. All our food was cold upon arrival, multiple drink order and food errors, combative & with all the delays we were very late to our next venue. Mind you this was a pre planned bday dinner. She didn't fix any of this by discounting or waiving items. It was not even a busy night, lots of empty tables. It was a weeknight and reserved in advance. She fixed one receipt for our party but the other one still has two extra charges. Called the hotel and no one picks up so I will have to dispute with bank. Definitely do not recommend. Food was also mediocre. Hotels phone customer service matches the roof - terrible Update: I emailed the address you provided over a week ago and called a few times too/ no reply. Should I just call my bank and report this to BBB as well?
google avatar

Joy D.

Yelp
Perfect spot for a relaxed but elevated experience! Loved how this hidden gem of a location was slightly separated from the more impacted parts of Orange Ave. in Coronado. The rooftop outdoor setting puts you in a vibey "days-gone-by" mood and inspires you to stay a while. Really cool to read about the history of the space and to see the decorative nods to it's earlier era. The service was genuinely attentive and welcoming....and make sure not to miss the yellowtail crudo!
google avatar

El F.

Yelp
Courtney!!! And crew, the food, the service!! Why wasn't it packed!!?!?? We loved the sliders, salad, and atmosphere!

Lou H.

Yelp
We made reservations and were so excited to try this place. All three of the folks working we interacted with were so rude. We had to get up and leave. I would not recommend based on service.

Kaitlyn M.

Yelp
first off, very cute vibe love the esthetic. However the service was very slow on three separate occasions we asked a to go box and still hadn't received one, as well as with such a small menu 3/4th of it they were out of. we went in not knowing it was a cashless menu and wasn't told till it was time to pay. as well as one lemonade was $10 we knew this reading the menu but still a crazy thought.

Amanda H.

Yelp
I am the maid of honor planning a bachelorette party in San Diego. I had heard The Dive was a new rooftop and could be a fun place for brunch while I was researching and planning. I had called the Dive to make a brunch reservation on June 18th for 16 people on August 9th. Plenty of time in advance as I know things fill up fast in summer. I was told they put my name down and I would get a call back. I never got a call back and I called again. Same answer that they would pass my information along but should be fine. We are now a week out from the event and I called on Friday for confirmation. She said the same thing that they see my name but it's not confirmed. I then started getting extremely stressed as we are a week out with no confirmed brunch for 16 people. She said she would call me back that day. I still did not receive a call back so I called again the next morning. This is the FOURTH time calling to confirm a reservation. She said she'd pass my information along and they were just trying to be sure they could make everything perfect and able to accommodate us all. Don't know why it would take a month and a half to figure that out. The host then said that the best thing I could do is "keep calling". How unprofessional. I was then frantically calling other restaurants for a back up and was able to book with a better restaurant with much better reviews and they called me back within an hour and able to confirm for 16 people. You have lost our business and considering the already low reviews, I'm not sure who is managing everything but it's not a good look. My recommendation for anyone trying to plan a bachelorette or birthday with a big group, don't. Good luck staying open.

Joe W.

Yelp
Absurd.... my friend and I are embarrassed and appalled after being ridiculed in front of guests... my friend happens to be from Hawaii, and the bartenders thought this was a right of passage to embarrass him and question the legitimacy and authenticity of his state issued id. It caused a scene where we both stuck out like sore thumbs. If you want good service and good food. Go down the street to Mcpees. Coming from a local, trust me.
google avatar

Haley I.

Yelp
The Dive caught our eye on the way to our hotel and we had to take a peek! We had Mitchell as our server and he exceeded our expectations. He was very funny, welcoming, kind and personable from the second we sat down, and answered all of our questions! The espresso martini and matcha martini were delicious, we will be back (also the chocolate dessert and hot tea ensemble made our night!!) s/o mother Theresa

Alyssa Z.

Yelp
I'd like to review the rooftop bar! I had such a great experience here with my fiancé. The staff were so nice and helpful. When we arrived at the rooftop it was so beautiful, relaxing, elegant but cool. We came on a weekday, Thursday. Courtney immediately greeted us, appearing both welcoming and inviting upon the elevator doors. She was truly an example of service I would willing to any to come back too. We had the lemon crab toast and it was AMAZING. I wish I would have gotten another round . They do not skimp out! We also had tap beers and a tequila old fashion. This experience was above my expectations and I can't wait to come back and show my family. Thank you! I enjoyed my time here and the staff working was so nice! From the valet guy directing us to the correct floor, to the staff at the bar thank you. Because of your service I would like to come back and stay here and will be recommending it to my friends!

Ryan S.

Yelp
Absolutely Outstanding! From the moment we walked in, it was clear this restaurant runs like a well-oiled machine--and that's all thanks to Rachel, the manager, and her phenomenal team. Rachel's presence is warm, professional, and effortlessly confident. You can tell she leads by example. She checked in with us personally during our visit--not in a rushed or rehearsed way, but with genuine care and hospitality. It's rare to see a manager so hands-on, so invested in both the staff and the guest experience. The entire crew mirrored Rachel's energy--friendly, attentive, and clearly proud of their work. Service was seamless, food came out perfectly timed, and every staff member we interacted with was kind and accommodating. You could tell they respect and enjoy working under Rachel's leadership, and it shows in every detail. Fernando & Mia were very hospitable! In an industry where great service can make or break a night out, Rachel and her crew deliver nothing short of excellence. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I really like this rooftop bar. Really cool vibe. Music is actually background music so you can have a conversation within your party without yelling at each other. Nice view of the Del and some of the beach. Cool view of the sunset. Cozy atmosphere. Glass windows to block the wind. Food was good. French fries were the best part of the meal. Service was friendly.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Wow! The bartender really knows how to get you coming back for their spicy margs. The peppers were muddled and delicious. The tequila perfect for our great sunny day on their roof. I believe there was another hotel here before. It's been a while since I've been on the island and this place looks brand new. Villa Capri before??? There is a sign behind the bar that says as much. Any who, everyone was chill and service forward with their recommendations. We were really hungry, and this dive (lol) did not disappoint. You MUST get the shishito peppers, the crab toast and the grilled sausage. The next time we're down in San Diego and visit Coronado Island, DIVE will be hit up again.

Yelp
Took some friends from out of town here on 4/27/25 right when it opened in the morning. We just pulled up to have drinks since everyone was still full from breakfast down the street. Drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was amazing from the moment we walked through the lobby and during our entire stay at Dive. The young fella at the Valet on our way out was very professional and friendly. The space is beautiful and has many different styles of seating. The sun came out and the views were gorgeous. Everyone was very nice to my dog and just made us feel very welcomed. I have told many people about this place and will definitely return soon for food this time. Keep up the great work!!

Yelp
Beautiful view of the San Diego Bay and Hotel Del Coronado. Drinks were well crafted and Oscar was one of the best servers we've had in a while. Highly recommend for Brunch.

Thomas M.

Yelp
Upon arrival, with reservations we were ignored by the staff. The manager eventually approached and provided us with seating options. The view from the hotel were amazing and relaxing The server took our offer in just a few minutes. Drinks were prompt and good. Our plates took over an hour to arrive Both the sliders and lobster toast were very good. Fries great. Getting and paying tab were a little clumsy. Had to ask for credit card to be returned I will most likely go back, hopefully the service improves

Adriana C.

Yelp
Called to ensure there was space available at the bar and they gentleman we spoke to said yes and to come on in. Greeted by the woman upon entering the bar was not welcoming and said "hmm that's weird" when we told her what had happened. Proceeded to sit us in a corner. The whole time the people were staring at us and giving us looks. There was no sense of urgency in anything besides getting us out. In simple terms, don't come here if you are a person of color. Terrible and unwelcoming atmosphere.

Jojo K.

Yelp
Ummm what? This place is very odd. SUPER slow bartender. Tried to pawn off a watery cold brew in a glass as an espresso martini. They were out of everything we wanted and nothing we ordered was spectacular. Dive is really not making the splash Coronado was hoping for.
google avatar

Carvill V.

Yelp
Delicious food. Well designed and conveniently close to the Hotel Del and the beaches.

Jessalyn H.

Yelp
omg this place is amazing!! so cute and drinks were amazing! literally the cutest new hot spot in sd. a must try for a date night or group of friends! perfect for bites and drinks with an iconic view of hotel del and the water. I'm obsessed! will be going back immediately. service was amazing and such a nice staff. easily the best spot in Coronado hands down. quick walk from the del and the beach.

John W.

Yelp
My issue is with the food we ordered. The Shishito peppers were NOT crispy, they were soggy, the worst I've ever had. The fish tacos were equally as disappointing. the fish was dry, room temperature, had almost no flavor, and were served on stale tasting corn tortillas. We also ordered margaritas...they had the wierdest flavor...not good. Very dissapointed.

Adam D.

Yelp
Beautiful new rooftop bar in Coronado, great views, drinks and food. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely coming back.

Andrea C.

Yelp
We went for the first time and we had a great time! Cool and refined atmosphere. Tasty dishes and very good wine recommended by the waiter. Recommended

Ohh C.

Yelp
Sat down and the hostess brought us water but we never got served. If they are trying to make a good impression, it did not work.

Daniella S.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place. As an industry GM I had high hopes and expectations. I always try out the new places in SD. View is amazing. Hotel Is beautiful. They were too short staffed for Sunday service. The server had a good attitude but she was clearly in the weeds. We ordered drinks. We got them 30 mins later. Server never had a chance to even get our food order in because se was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I felt bad so at that point I just got the bill. And went to eat elsewhere. I didn't want to keep waiting for her to pull her self out of the weeds and ask for my food order. I hope the owner and manager start staffing better on Sundays. A new establishment should always be over staffing at the begging until they ensure good service and THEN they can cut back on service or labor. Beautiful place but TOO short staffed. I could see my drinks dying at the bar and no one running them. I will return in a month or so and hopefully they have service under control ! It's Sunday in Coronado please staff UP!!!! lol Let me add that we actually had reservations. They only had one slot available At 2:30. So we took it. When we got to the reservation we only saw a few tables sitting BUT they were accepting walk-ins even when short staffed which ruined the experience for guests that actually had Reservations. You never seat more than you can handle. Rule #1 in the industry. Start a wait. It's that easy !

Yelp
Had really bad service last Sunday and I sent an email with some feedback. 5 days later absolutely nobody has contacted me nor acknowledged my concerns. I really don't think they are interested in creating a positive experience.

Yelp
Came into the Dive this past Saturday evening with my two girlfriends. It was a rainy night but I was unaware that there was absolutely no coverage on the entire place. Once we got to the rooftop a nice lady approached us and told us that most of the restaurant is wet but they will accommodate us as best as possible. The place was SOAKED. There were actual puddles on the floor. We looked around the empty and soaked place and decided to leave. Not sure what kind of management would allow their poor staff to work in conditions like this. The young server's hair was dripping wet. For a place that is rumored to want to be a "forbes 5 star hotel", you should really treat your employees better and let them go home when they are getting poured on and soaking wet. It was looking desperate to say the least. There were about 3 staff members there and they were all wet and cold. Nothing against the servers or restaurant, but the management or whoever decided to stay open in such conditions should be fired. Definitely put a bad taste in my mouth which is unfortunate as I'm from the island.

Yelp
So much potential but wow don't know if I can even go back after our awful experience. Exceptionally bad service from our server and whoever the awkward man hovering was? Manager? Mind you this place is tiny and there were barely any other patrons there so not sure what the excuse was. We waited about 20 mins for our drinks, which are really small. We enjoyed them and were wanting to order another round, the awkward man came over and "you're good right? Let us know if you need anything" ummm he sees us with 3 empty drinks and walks away after asking that and we're like umm wait yes we'd like to order drinks. We order drinks and we have to wait another 20 mins, they finally come over and the server says we have 15 mins to drink them because they have reservations. Mind you we had one and no one told us there was a limit. She was super rude about it and awkward, doesn't tell us we can go to the bar just says we have 15 mins to go. Anyway weird weird experience, incredibly slow and awkward service.
