Divinum

"Comfort and good service are key elements in this modern and contemporary restaurant beneath an attractive Catalan-style vaulted ceiling. The à la carte, featuring an appetising and updated take on traditional cuisine, is complemented by seasonal daily suggestions, as well as two interesting tasting menus with a wine pairing option." - Michelin Inspector

"A Neverending Catalan Meal in Girona A deconstructed Spanish tortilla. A fried aubergine. A selection of cured meats that would please any palate. Olives whose essence fill up the whole room. And not to forget the wine pairings. That is the kind of experience you'll have at Divinum, Girona's ultimate fancy-pants tapas place. An authentic, glutton, mouth-watering foodie moment that your taste buds will thank you for. At any time, you can either order the tasting menu, or ask for the daily offer - either way, there's no such thing as a bad choice at Divinum. Absolutely everything is fresh, tasty, well presented and quite frankly, divine. Also, the decor - while the entrance is more of the traditional, wooden style, the backroom is ultra-modern and quite the conversation starter, with a plexiglass floor covering an impressive collection of wine bottles, and equally pretty furniture. If you're looking for a more high-end Catalan tapas experience, then look no further - Catalonia is perhaps the tastiest and underrated of all the Spanish provinces, and Girona does not disappoint. Especially not at Divinum!"

Was able to get a reservation for same day easily while traveling and saw the venue while sightseeing in Girona. We tried the tasting menu. Everyone at table must order this. It was pricey but worth the money. I was too full by the last two deserts. There were so many courses and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend!

Came here to enjoy the “small” tasting menu which I took with the wine pairings. The appetizers were superb including an eel tartlet with lemon foam and a cod tartlet with red pepper gel. The mains were hit or miss. The snail with onion and anchovy was delicious. The egg yolk cured in salt and sugar and finished with a celeriac cream was strange. The cream was tasty but the egg seemed a bit overdone as it stuck to the teeth. The codfish was well prepared but overall the dish was quite salty. The strawberry and cream dessert was both delicious and beautifully presented. The professionalism of the staff was fantastic. They really worked as one team. The decor seemed sterile for a Michelin but maybe that was intentional? Not to my liking. I thought overall the meal and the pairings were well worth the price. Be prepared - 3hrs from start to finish.

Great Michelin stared restaurant in the heart of Girona. Well worth a visit as a price fix or a La carte. The cheese selection is incredible.

Truly a memorable experience. From the service to the tasting menu, everything was executed with intention and finesse. I cannot wait to come back.

What a beautiful meal!! The service was spectacular and the atmosphere was unique. We did the abbreviated testing menu and it was divine. The flavor selections were unusual but excellent! We also did the wine pairing, which featured an outstanding selection of wines that beautifully paired with our meal.

What an absolutely amazing evening! If you have a penchant for viewing food as a form of art and relishing in a culinary theater, this is undeniably the place for you. We decided to go for the small tasting paired with wine, and let me tell you, it turned into a delightful marathon of flavors that stretched nearly three hours. Every single bite was like a symphony of taste explosions. While the interior exudes an elegant ambiance, it did take us a brief moment to fully embrace the brightness of the lights. Nevertheless, once settled, it contributed to the overall charm of the place. We can't recommend it enough – a truly remarkable experience for those who appreciate the fusion of artistry and exceptional taste in their dining adventure! A true gastronomic restaurant!

Dining Experience at Divinium in Girona – High-Level Service but an Uneven Culinary Journey During our recent vacation in Girona, we spontaneously decided to visit the Michelin-listed restaurant Divinium. We were fortunate to get a table despite booking on short notice. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a sleek and elegant design, though the atmosphere felt silent somewhat stiff and minimalist. It’s possible this was an intentional aspect of the experience. We opted for the smaller tasting menu at €110 per person, as the larger menu (€130) would have taken an additional hour beyond the two hours for the smaller menu. The restaurant also offered a wine pairing for around €70, which we found to be an intriguing option. The visit ended up taking nearly three hours despite choosing the smaller menu. The service was exceptional, marked by attentiveness and professionalism. The staff ensured our glasses were always filled, the table was cleaned between courses, and small details like folding the napkin when one of us went to the restroom were much appreciated. One small area for improvement would be the clarity of the explanations of the dishes in English, as they were sometimes delivered quickly and weren’t always easy to understand. As for the food, the dishes were generally interesting and flavorful, with innovative presentations. However, we felt that some dishes lacked that final touch to feel truly complete. One dish, the "Duck with pear," was unfortunately a disappointment for us. It had a strong iron or metallic taste and a grainy texture (it was a type of pâté) that made it inedible for us. The server offered to replace the dish, but we declined. As a kind gesture, we were later served two extra desserts, which we appreciated. The menu started off very strong, with the brioche bread and the smoked eel being highlights, but it lost some momentum towards the end. None of the desserts stood out as particularly memorable, though they were perfectly acceptable. They did impress with very nice plating and presentation, including an effective use of dry ice. A very nice touch from the restaurant was that after the meal, we received personalized, gold-colored pamphlets listing all the dishes we had eaten that evening, along with the date and the names of all the staff who worked that night. This was a very stylish and memorable touch that we will truly appreciate. Despite some inconsistencies in the culinary experience, it was overall an exciting and good experience for the total price of €245 (including food, cava, and sparkling water). We truly appreciated the high level of service and the creative cooking at Divinium, even though there is room for improvement.

Yelp
Fantastic tasting menu experience, don't miss it when you're in Girona! Dinner did take about 3.5 hours so be prepared. The dining room is nice and cool from the hot summer heat. Wine can be had by the glass and is very reasonable. Service is top notch and the food was so good, creative, put together in many ways.

Yelp
Staff and service were 5 stars, drinks, 3 appetizers that the chef came out and explained, farmers bread w/ local olive oil were excellent. But that is where the experience reached the peak. For appetizers: lobster was not deveined and a tad over cooked, making it chewy. Steak tartar was good but served family style with 4 small chips, you end up eating the tartar with your fork. For dinner: Do not get the prawn and rice or sea cucumbers. These dishes were not eatable. The sea cucumber were chewy in texture, and lacked flavor. The prawn and rice, rice was overly salty, burnt tasting and shrimp tasting, the prawn was not gutted so the guts of the prawn were everywhere. Not an enjoyable eating experience. The ambiance was stuffy and stark. The feeling of the space was USSR vibes, no music, color palette of the restaurant was underwhelming.

Yelp
The ingredients in the dishes were nothing spectacular. White button mushroom, cauliflower, leeks, cantaloupe, etc. There were no caviar, braised meat, delicate fish, ox, or anything expensive. The presentation of each dish was really nice but for over $430 for two people (tasting menu, wine, and cheese), I would like to eat delicious food and not ordinary ingredients prepared in creative manner. For example, one dish was mashed cauliflower served from a kitchen gadget that resembled a fire extinguisher. Nice presentation but you're still eating mashed cauliflower. I noticed all the good reviews I saw were from over 3 years ago. Maybe the restaurant was struggling when we went because there were no high quality meat or ingredients in any of the dishes. Again, every dish was presented nicely, the taste was just okay for me. Service was okay too. You have some attentive wait staff and then there were some that weren't attentive. We waited an hour to get our check. We asked for it after waiting 40 min and it took another 20 min. I wouldn't go here again simply because there are other places that serve better food nearby.

Yelp
Divinum was a very unique, interesting and creative experience in Spanish cuisine. We went for the 45€ tasting menu, which delivered a surprisingly filling amount of food for the price (I've had similar tastings in NYC for upwards of $150/pp). More importantly, each course was uniquely conceptualized and beautifully presented. Among our favourites were the "dim sum" iberico pork dumpling; a fish tartare served floating atop an individually-sized tarragon smoker; a truffled pappardelle pasta; and surprisingly, an olive oil tasting trio served simply with delicious, crusty bread. The service was fantastic, as well - truly white glove. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Big picture: i'd skip it. We had a la carte menu and it was disappointing. The website is amazing. The descriptions are enticing but the execution is flat. The service was also a little rude by some of the servers. The head waiter was wonderful, polite and helpful. The other waiters were not that interested in being helpful - from trying to remove your plates prematurely to being unhappy about the food questions being posed. Rude comes to mind. Here is the biggest complaint - we clearly stated that we don't eat pork. Almost every dish that we received had some pork in it - the problem is that you can only tell this after you've tried it. They get two stars because the salt and the wine were wonderful. Three types of salt served - black, white and grey - wonderful. Wine was perfect. Take away: you can get salt and wine elsewhere.

Yelp
We went for the festival menu for 70Euros. Service was very hospitable. Nice ambience. All dishes were beautiful. They were do accommodating of our food restrictions. Amuse Bouche: Tiny crispy wafer with salmon pieces, puffed bread with pork Course 1: Rice crackers with guacamole. Pork dumplings was the other one without food restrictions. Course 2: Foie gras was one of the dishes. The other was cited mackerel tops with seasonal veggies. Course 3: Excellent cured sardines Course 4: Tuna/squid tartare Course 5: Prawn. The head was presented separately on a plate that sat well on a large flat plate. The body of shrimp was hiding below. Delicious. Course 6: Sea bass with madras curry. Beautiful and delicious again. Course 7: Eel on top of rice in brown sauce. This one was good but not great. Course 8: Duck breast with thin rice crackers and baby corn. The other one with food restriction was potato+eggs+truffle concoction topped with large truffle flakes. Course 9: Red mullet with softened carrots in a carrot soup with saffron. Excellent. Course 10 (dessert): Apple sorbet with pickled (in sweet syrup) cucumber. Refreshing Course 11 (dessert): Chocolate caramel crumble with some soft white mousse/pannacotta (marshmallow?) Coffee was nice and strong. Finished with 4kinds of Petit Four. Highly recommend this restaurant and their festival menu.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best meal of my life. We couldn't get into the #1 or #2 restaurant on the Trip Advisor list, but I am so glad we didn't! Divinum was the best meal and service I've ever had in my life. I've eaten at some of the best restaurants in the U.S. There's not one restaurant I've been to that has come even close to the exceptional variety of dishes and absolutely impeccable service. The restaurant is lovely - interesting art on the walls and nice decor without being too pretentious. My husband decided to splurge and get a tasting menu for each of us, he had the 6 course tasting menu for 30 Euros and I had the 9 course tasting menu for 42 euros. I know many people share the tasting menu, but we wanted a special dinner out. We were not disappointed. The menu is in Catalan, so the kind server/manager went through the list and explained each item in English. There were a few dishes we couldn't eat, he kindly replaced them with anything on the menu we wanted. 30 Euro Menu: Parmesan and ham salad with fruit vinegrette - amazing Figs with Foie Gras - even more amazing 6 pasta sachets with shredded ham - mind blowing (our favorite) Tuna tartare- amazing Duck breast - absolutely perfect Chocolate dessert - awesome 42 euro menu: Langoustine soup - amazing Foie Gras with Caramel and pistachio garnish - the best foie gras I've had in my life Smoked Salmon - amazing Pasta - ridiculously amazing Tuna Tartare - amazing Duck - best duck ever Artisan cheeses - lovely Mojito lime sorbet dessert - refreshing, awesome! We've gone to tasting menu restaurants in Madrid on our trip, nothing compares to Divinum. The service was prompt, friendly and extremely helpful. I've never had such attentive service. With each item, we received new silverware and our dishes were whisked away almost immediately. We asked for a wine recommendation, it was a mere 20 euros and amazing. For the value, 42 euros or 30, you cannot beat this place. We've payed twice as much for food 1/2 as good. Absolutely the best meal of my life!

Yelp
A FABULOUS MEAL for 23 Euros each. Appetizer of pork jowl. Then - roasted pumpkin with Iberian Ham and a poached egg with morel and truffles Then - Veal and squid ink rice with calamari Then - two amazing desserts, the highlight being yogurt and coconut and mango It's an experience. They treat you like a king. We LOVED it. However, we walked in - the place wasn't full - and the hostess was rude and tried to send us away saying that there were no reservations left. Someone else heard this and insisted that we be sat. I think she didn't like that we were American. They sat us separately in a back room when there were empty tables. -1 for this.

Yelp
After reading a number of recommendations, we decided to reserve a table for a birthday dinner. First thing to note is that we were not dressed for a fancy meal, and yet did not feel out of place at all. The atmosphere was tasteful yet understated, certainly not a stuffy and overly posh place. We ordered a la carte, and were surprised when we were brought a series of appetisers. However, these were all included in the meal price and were truly a gastronomic experience. The service was impeccable, with the sommelier offering a great suggestion for a local wine. And the mains were both excellent - succulent pork and great veal. The waiter brought a complementary cake and candle, and was very pleased to celebrate the evening. With an honest style cuisine you can truly feel the love for food. We look forward to coming back.
