The 11 Best Bagel Spots In Montreal

"Irwin “Dizzy” Dizgun wanted to bring something special to the locals of Côte Saint Luc when he opened up this spot in 1995 with his sons: a place to get fresh bagels for a morning commute and an entire meal to bring home for dinner, too. Bring your shopping bag and stock up on a variety of bagels—including pumpernickel or some sweet cheese bagels—loads of salads, and everything from turkey burgers to butter chicken. They’ve got all the makings for picnics, or a weekend at the cottage outside the city." - ivy lerner frank

The bagel shop was nice, with decent prices and a good variety of bagels. The staff were friendly as well. However, they really need to improve their hygiene – we saw flies inside the container where they keep their salad and cooked food, which was quite concerning.

We were the there around lunch time with another lady and I ordered 2 cream cheese bagels and a turkey sandwich and somehow the lady worker gave me a chicken sandwich… it was good but very unexpected and had i been a picky eater or allergic to pickled peppers, it would have ruined my day… Maybe try verifying and confirming with the customer what order they want. Also, maybe as a customer just double check your order before leaving or make sure you get the right things…

Dizz’s is one of the oldest Montreal Bagel shops. Open 247 and freshly made sesame bagels & poppyseed bagels are delicious.

I stopped by to try their bagels, they have many different ones to chose from, I bought 4 different ones, but I did not find any of them to be that good and they were more expensive than the place I go to nearby. They also have a wood burning oven, so sadly I cannot go there as I see and smell the burning fumes regularly while walking in the neighborhood. When they upgrade, as many others have (without any notice by the customers), I will try again. I do like the new renovations, looks nice with the windows open onto the street, they use to be covered up, more inviting.

Went for the cannoli bagel only to discover it's not sold anymore. Bagels weren't bad, but awfully dry and far from fresh. Tried a sweet cheese bagel with birthday cake cream cheese which wasn't bad, but overall it just seemed like a sugar overload. Not terrible overall, but location was a bit out of the way for me so it certainly wasn't worth the trip.

Pictures are today vs the time I went in 2016. Had to go back in and ask for more birthday cake cream cheese, it was originally put on like butter and even after asking for more there was barely any in it. The person making it was surprised we wanted more. For 6$ it's very disappointing. At least in 2016 they put the amount like advertised. Probably better off buying the bagels and cream cheese separately and doing it yourself or just making your own cream cheese at home. Hopefully the other stuff we bought is good.

For the 2nd time I got a sandwich on a Roll and the Roll was dry and hard bcs its from the day before. I am customer for years and always enjoyed the food. But I will not go back. I don't this new politics of serving old bred and charging full price.

It's happened two times in a row. Once in the afternoon, and just last week around 11 AM. Got bagels, they were stale, hard. This place is now off my list. I thought once was a one off.... but to get stale bagels at 11 in the morning on a weekend is inexcusable. It's gonna be MTL bagel for me all the way now. Always fresh, no matter when I go. A little further for me, but def. worth it.
