Dnister Restaurant - Review - Forest Gate - London - The Infatuation

"Dnister shines brightest during big, group gatherings, where the multi-level seating and twinkling strings of fairy lights make the most sense. Each week this Ukrainian restaurant undergoes the kind of transformation usually reserved for high schoolers in ’90s tween movies. On weekdays it’s a shy, quiet place where you might be eating alone. But by the weekend, the DJ rolls up, the dancefloor sees constant action, and you’ll wonder if you’ve crashed a 21st birthday party (it could easily be a 50th too). Whatever you choose—multi-generational dance-off or sleepy Thursday night in Forest Gate—the food is decent and comfortingly traditional. We like the big plate of bigos and ribs—peppery, meaty, still a bit juicy—best. But you can skip the forgettable benderyky (savoury crêpes stuffed with pork mince)." - Sinéad Cranna

I recently visited this Ukrainian restaurant, and it was an exceptional experience. The atmosphere felt warm and authentic, with beautiful traditional decor that made the space truly inviting. The food was outstanding — every dish was rich in flavor and prepared with great attention to detail. The borshch was perfectly balanced, the varenyky were soft and delicious, and the desserts were absolutely unforgettable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and eager to make sure every guest felt welcome. Overall, this place offers a wonderful combination of tradition, comfort, and high-quality cuisine. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy genuine Ukrainian flavors.

My friend and I had a great experience - staff are helpful, the food is delicious and hearty, portions are big and the atmosphere is lovely. Personally, I would absolutely recommend the pork shashlik as it was amazing! The meat was so tender, the dipping sauce was yummy and the bread was great. We also enjoyed the vareniki and Olivier salad (tasted just like we make it at home!). I've heard there is also live music on some evenings, which would probably make the experience even better. Would definitely be back soon to try some of the other food on the menu as everything sounded delicious. Thank you!

Everything left me feeling really full. I had Salo with Rye Bread, Garlic and Mustard, Borshch with Pampuh and Smetana. And also tried a rare dish to find in London: Banosh with Goat Cheese. Creamy and delicious. Nice and cozy atmosphere, good for family gatherings, they have large tables and tables for two. When I was there someone was even working on one of the tables. Lighting was good. And the bill was surprisingly low for how full it made me feel. 20-30££ per person. Follow me for more Ukrainian places in London.

OUTSTANDING. Lana & team also cater for outside events. We hired them for our son's wedding (90 guests) in a large garden. Our new daughter-in-law is Ukrainian and all the guests were amazed at the food. We were really impressed with their preparation and professional approach. We will be visiting and using them again.

Location: It lays very conveniently near a bus stop and about a 5-6 minutes walk from the Elizabeth line. Staff: Very friendly and accommodating, they are very thoughtful and attentive and help you with special requests like sharing a meal by giving you extra plates. Food: The food is very well cooked and the presentation is done very well. The menu itself is not overwhelming allowing you to make a quick decision, and not bother you with hundreds of choices. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is very nice and quiet, even though it is situated near a very busy street. It gives off a very cozy vibe and feels generally very welcoming. Price: I believe the prices are adequate for the food quality served, the drinks are very reasonably priced. All in all a great place to visit and experience some great Ukrainian dishes.

It was such a beautiful experience to dine at this Ukranian restaurant. The waiter and waitress were very friendly and attentive. The food was very delicious and affordable. They have variety of Ukranian alcohol as well. Overall the prices were affordably and food was amazing. Highly reccommend people to visit this place at least once.
