Dock Street Brewery West

This was a really awesome high end pizza spot hidden out in west philly. I got there with a large group of friends late one night last week and this place is very large, there was no need for a reservation. We started out getting some fried calamari and buffalo Cauliflower, both of which were fantastic. Then we got 2 pies for the table a 4 cheese white pie, and one with a little bit of everything on it! They were super delicious and we literally ate until we were all stuffed, these pies were super cheesy! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, fancy night out.

I loved the small, warm atmosphere that this place had. Seems to be popular, especially among young adults, so expect a crowd. The staff seemed to be juggling several taks at once so it took a while to be served but they were all friendly. Pizza was great. I had the barbeque chicken pizza and it had the perfect mix of sauce, chicken, and other toppings. Didn't try the beer but had a bottled soda that was fantastic ( made with sugar cane). Overall, would go again if I was in the area.

Hands down the best pizza place in west philly: unique flavors and a wide range of gourmet ingredients. The trio fries have fried leeks and sweet potatoes—wish more places had these. And the brussels sprouts are nutty and soft-crunchy. Try the more exotic pizzas, like Mellow Yellow that has mustard and mushrooms, and Flammenkuche which has caramelized onions. The dough is on the thinner side, so one small pizza per person is not impossible, especially when paired with their beers. The beers are not as unique as their pizzas, especially given the high number of microbreweries in Philadelphia, but they are nonetheless very tasty. Most of their beers are variations of pale ales. However, their man full of trouble porter was very refreshing. Go early for outdoor seating if the weather’s nice, and check out their little beer bar around the corner. It’s in the same building.

Authentic wood-fired artisan pizzas are delicious and the crust always comes out just right. Great place to go for Friday lunch. 100 plus year old building is facinating and large beer brewing vats are visible while dining inside the spacious but worn-on-purpose looking interior which gives it its unique feel.

Wood fired brick oven pizza is delicious. Must have the homemade mozzarella sticks, amazing. They use a brand named Boylan for their bottled soda which in my opinion tastes like clorets gum. Friday lunch always has enough seating and no wait. Go there.

Pizza was GREAT! A MUST visit for out of towners! Try the BEER SAMPLE. THE TRIO FRIES (Fries - white and sweet potato with Leeks) I said the same thing, what is a leek? Crazy! Gotta get 'em! Good atmosphere. Parking was HARD! A GREAT spot in a GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD!

Came for happy hour and lucked out that their Man Full of Trouble Porter was the beer of the day. Porters are my favorite brew and I loved this one. We had the Trio Fries and thought the leeks were a creative and tasty touch. The Flammenkuche pizza was delicious! Server was friendly. Prices are a tad high. Volume level is loud.

Everything great except for the hostess who seemed to sneer at children. She has a mean dispensation. My family and I live one block away... this is a family neighborhood so get over it. Waiter was amazing - super nice. He had an impressive collection of nose rings. The girl who brought us our food was also great - blonde.

Service was friendly, and the food came out in about 10 minutes. Good pizza with plenty of pepperoni, not too little or too much cheese and reasonable pricing. I only wish the cheese didn't slide off so much, even after letting it cool for a while, but it was still tasty! The mixed green salad was also enjoyable, especially with the seasoned quinoa topping, and the portion was generous. The pizza tasted even better reheated the next day.

I love the pizza! Ordered from the Western 'burbs on a Saturday before 5pm. Selected a cheese and a pepperoni for pu. Ready in 35 mins and notified by text. Cool neighborhood south of University City. I was lucky enough to pull a spot right out front but can see double parking for pu is a thing too. The pizzas truly are phenomenal. Thin, well done crust with occasional char. The cheese is a mix of mozzarella and maybe pecorino giving it a unique and delicious flavor. The pepperoni are pucks of cupping goodness, slightly thick and very flavorful. Great pizza

Came here randomly after a long day and met up with some friends. The place was pretty crowded but it was actually pretty easy to be seated. I ordered the dry cider which was pretty tasty. We heard the samosa pizza was the best so we ordered it. The pizza wasn't bad. I wasn't a fan of the big chunks of boiled potatoes on the pizza considering there wasn't a lot of sauce. The potatoes definitely overwhelmed at the pizza and maybe could have been sliced thinner. That's my only criticism. Overall, we enjoyed the vibes and the solid food.

I finally made it to Carbon Copy after Dock St Brewery departed! The layout is still the same ..the beer is different but good! I enjoyed the Gully IPA! I had the opportunity to taste the pizza and wings and they were ok..nothing special! The vibe of Carbon Copy still had the energy that made Dock St a hit...it's the collection of neighborhood and the folks that are patrons! If I am in the area..would like to try more samples of the beer!

Such a cute building with yummy food. Especially that mushroom pizza--that crust was so crisp and delicious, with all these delectable little bubbles. And they did not skimp on the mushrooms, it was totally covered. Flavor was great, too! But the salad...it was a bit weird. Absolutely doused in furikake, which did not complement the pizza at all. And the wings were juicy but the buffalo sauce was thick and too salty. Pretty good, but not great. Service was fast and friendly, though. I would be back for pizza. Oh, and my husband said the hard cider he had was amazing, so maybe try that if you like cider!

Best pizza in West Philly, no question. The appetizers are delicious and there are multiple vegetarian and vegan options! I love the buffalo wings (which have a kick!) and the chips & dip. My favorite pizzas are the mushroom and pepperoni, although the plain cheese is very, very yummy. Huge variety of beers for everyone--I love the Keen (English Dark Mild), Gully (IPA), Frill (Porter), and Radiate (Sour). The Pinot Gris and Riesling wines are also delicious. Plus they have yummy ice cream, too!! Highly recommend!

This is a new restaurant that I was really excited to visit, I saw it on a local Philadelphia News Station. I was very familiar with the location as a restaurant and bar filled the same space before Covid. Because I know parking comes at a Premium. I made sure to arrive early. Once inside, I realized that it may not be such a new place. After viewing the menu, eating the food. It's clearly nothing new, nothing to see here I'm going to keep it moving.! Is the same overpriced dull food and not so special beer in a extremely overly gentrified neighborhood. With the demographics, change, restaurants or people who make arts and crafts, try to make it out what they're pushing to be the new thing by throwing expensive prices on junk.

Great find! Our friends treated us to dinner here and it was a great spot for me to calm my nerves before doing some public speaking haha. Service was great. Beer was good (although I'll have to come back to try more since I had to limit myself!). Their beets and Burrata was so so good as well as their mushroom pizza. The the tinned fish is great for those who's trying to eat lighter. thanks for a great meal!

Had the rosso (sauce only, no cheese) and a Dornick cider. Sauce is zippy, not sweet, very tomato-y. Crust is THIN but supports itself, incredibly light with a great crunch helped by the corn meal on the underside. The garlic is prominent. With so much garlic, the basil (which looks great) is a bit lost. Not sure what the bread crumb does. I am trying to imagine the pie without it. Maybe it is a thickener for the sauce or contributes a bit to the mouth feel? The cider was a perfect complement, clean with just a hint of sweetness. The samosa and mushroom pies look amazing. Next time? Same with the soft- serve topped with blood-orangecolive oil and sea salt.

Great service, food, and beer! The mushroom pizza is loaded with a lot of mushrooms, and the rossa pie has a lot of tomato sauce and is perfect for people who like tomato pies. Also tried the fried artichokes and they were great--crispy and salty and came with a good dipping sauce. The beers are also great, with plenty of different styles to choose from. Definitely recommend for a night out!

I was so disappointed when I heard Dock street was closing this location. I spent many nights there with a cheeseburger pizza shooting the shit with a pack of friends. Well I'm happy to report that I don't think CC changed anything. I even asked if they still had the same chef. We were told they didn't. The pizza is still awesome and my friends were happy with the beer selection. So CC doesn't miss a beat. If you loved Dock Street you'll still feel at home here.

Came here with a few friends on a Friday evening around 5:30pm and we were lucky enough to be seated right away! I got a beer - the Whir (Belgian witbier) which was nothing outstanding but solid. We split two apps - the chips and onion dip and the charred cauliflower (with chili butter, jalapeño, rosemary, almond). Both were super delicious! For pizzas, we split the curry squash (cream, mozzarella, butternut squash, sunchoke, curry oil, tomato chutney, basil, cilantro, parmigiano reggiano) and cheese (red sauce, pecorino romano, mozzarella, basil, parmigiano reggiano) since we wanted one white sauce and one red sauce. The curry squash in particular was delicious - such an amazing combination of flavors. Great spot just off Baltimore Ave to check out if you're in the neighborhood!

Bright, inviting, and local ! Carbon Copy is the newest brewpub in West Philadelphia, taking up the historic firehouse at the corner of 50th and Baltimore Avenue, which also use to house Dock Street West. A winery/brewery combo with food; I mean come on !!! Although new to the neighborhood, the co-owners bring over 20+ years of industry experience to the table. The beer variety is a host of consumer friendly/traditional style beer ; meaning there is something for everyone. And just in case beer isn't your thing, Carbon Copy also makes wine! ( The cab franc is my personal favorite) Beer is the namesake , but food is the showstopper! What I ordered: Pork Belly 8/10 Bite sized and fried to perfection. Served with a steamed cabbage sauced in a mustard au jus! Charred Cauliflower 9/10 This dish packs some heat! Served with with a chili butter and sliced pickled jalapeño. Pepperoni Pizza 7.5/10 Tons of pep, and overall good flavor, but did not pass the fold test. Most likely too much red sauce. But the dough is pillowy and better than a few other brick oven pizza spots I've had in Philly. Mushroom Pizza 8.5/10 Creamy, herby and earthy! Same dough mentioned in the above, just yum. Fold test approved! Welcome to the neighborhood, Carbon Copy!

This restaurant is DOPE. Don't skip out on their pizza or wangz. Love their merch too. Cop a shirt while you're there. It's a beautiful, bright space w options for veggies and meat eaters alike.

Pleasantly surprised. This renovated firehouse turned brewery/restaurant was not what I was expecting. Nice curb appeal, not a big space but enough table and bar seating, brick oven, and very clean and bright space. I was expecting a darker look inside. I'm not a big fan of beets, but I love burrata. The beet and burrata salad was very good and a good size to share. Love the gold utensils, feels fancy. The mushroom pizza was absolutely terrific! The flavor was spot on, loved it! I want to try the other flavors, especially the squash one, so guess I'll have to go back. They were sold out of the beer I wanted so I went with second choice. The Whir is very good and I forget what my husband was drinking but that was tasty too. Hope that soft serve machine is working next time. Definitely worth the visit.

Really good service, beer and food! I'm not vegan, but my friend is, so we ordered a vegan cheese pizza. It was actually really good! We also tried the vegan soft serve, which was also surprisingly similar to typical soft serve. The beer selection is awesome, and the servers were able to give good recommendations based on our tastes. I definitely want to return here at some point!

Beer is average, but good, especially the mushroom pizza, is some of the best in the city.

10/10 pepperoni pizza. i walked in, smelt all the wonderful pizzas and saw a pepperoni pie on the bar near me which i had to have. the cheese they use is fantastic and the pepperoni is flavorful ! the salad was super flavorful and went well with the pizza. beer is always delicious and the wine is awesome ! beautiful space. the bar top is very pretty and the bar stools are cute af. wonderful warm welcomes from staff everytime

I don't think the owners understand the audience of who they are servicing. Was disappointed to see that a mushroom pizza, while tasty wasn't worth $25, especially because it wasn't huge. Also, menu needs to be updated. Items marked vegan weren't or weren't in stock. Also, there are not sprinkle toppings in shakers. I couldn't even get black pepper. They did have parm that was lactose free. I think it's a better idea to go to Clarkville a few blocks up on Baltimore Ave, honestly. You essentially get similar items for less plus you don't have to question the menu options in the event that a server doesn't notify that a change was made.

Had a great time here! We came to watch the Eagles game and they had several tvs set up. The service was super friendly and attentive. We ordered their special pizza for the day/week (can't remember) and it was a twist on the Hawaiian with jalapeños. It was very good! We also had the beet salad which was lovely. I'd definitely come back.

Very casual spot for beer and pizza - I came in on a Friday evening really loved the experience! Atmosphere: The vibe was very relaxed and casual. The service was amazing and our pizza came out probably within 10-15 minutes. Food: There wasn't anything particularly unique about the pizza, but their beer options were extensive - I would definitely come back to try other beers here. Overall: 4/5 - I loved getting beer and pizza here, and will definitely come back! I thought the prices were incredibly reasonable too!

Carbon Copy We had heard this had newly opened place and decided to go here with 3 others on a Sunday night (holiday long weekend) based on high praise from another friend. I don't think I'll be going back soon due to the price point and wait time, but I thought the pizzas were delicious. I also appreciated the plethora of vegetarian/vegan options represented in both the snacks and pizza sections. Ambiance: Walking in, there is a lively vibe with more straightforward and simpler, modern decorations blending a pizzeria/brewery environment. You can see parts of the brewery equipment through giant windows behind long counter, and it has an overall laid-back atmosphere. Food: We ordered a snack and two pizzas for our group of 4. - Charred cauliflower: Based on the images I had seen on Yelp, I had anticipated this to be a crispier, golden cauliflower dish. However, it came out as a more boiled cauliflower with some char to it, which was still decent, but a bit underwhelming. However, I did enjoy the accompanying tasty chili butter, and the chopped almonds were a pleasantly surprising addition with their crunch factor. - Cheese pizza: Solid pizza. Came out piping hot. I appreciated the fresh sharpness of the pecorino romano shining alongside the salty, savory parmesan reggiano here. - Mushroom pizza: A+. Delicious. Savory. Umami bomb. I loved the choice of the mushrooms in this dish (maitake, shiitake, cremini) with the two sharp cheeses. The first bite into this crispy, warm slice was an immediate explosion of intense flavors, that ended all too soon by my last bite that I devoured. Service: No complaints about the server, but the wait for pizza was incredibly long. It felt that it must have been 40 minutes before the first pizza came out, and then another 10-20 minutes for the second pizza. I wasn't anticipating a slow 3-course meal at this brewery/pizzeria when walking in. While I would give the mushroom pizza a 5/5, I think my experience had to be a 3/5 due to a mix of the cost and wait times. We ended up spending about $16-$17/person, and some of us still left a bit hungry, and this felt unreasonable to me. The cauliflower snack portion size felt rather small for the price, and the pizzas are not filling enough for the cost; I think a possibly thicker crust to the pizzas would honestly help a lot. Thus, I settled for a 4/5.

I wish I took more pictures of the food! Their food options are amazing. My partner and I enjoyed ciders with the chips and dip, the brussels sprouts & pork app, and a pepperoni pizza. Whatever they do with the Brussels spouts and pork is divine! 10/10 it slaps. Also, Alicia was our server and we couldn't have been happier with the service and the scene.

Food that I ordered never came, even though I was told multiple times it was coming. After 45 minutes they said there was a mix up in the kitchen. And that's it. We left and ate dinner elsewhere. F for service F- for empathy

Vibes are on point, wine was very tasty. Will update this when I get back there for pizza and beer next week- but this is going to be my new go to spot in West Philly!

I really want to like this place, because this neighborhood deserves something good in this building. My pizza came out with black crust. Burnt crisp. The waitress either thought it looked fine or never came by to check the entire time we had it. They charge extra for Parmesan. The appetizer I ordered never came. The Gully IPA is decent.

Clam pizza was very tasty! I loved squeezing lemon on it. Different and delicious. The beers were real nice as well enjoyed a porter and IPA Will definitely be back to try their mushroom pizza!

i like the pizza ok the flavor is good but the pie (bottom) was a little under done & the crust ok i love wood fire pizza & the folks are friendly but i cant say the next time i'll return (its not my go to spot for pizza anyway)

Yes to this place. One hundred percent yes. I loved Dock Street. I have so many memories of after-school-dinners with my kids, after work hang out with friends, and even a "come be sad with us" when Donald Trump won the presidency. So when they announced they were closing it bummed me out. But when I walked into Carbon Copy tonight I was pleased. Even though I loved Dock Street, the aesthetic was a bit drab. Cave-like. This place is bright, green and inviting. I loved that it felt fresh. But the important part is the food! Wow! It did not at all disappoint. We started with the special for appetizers which were the meatballs. PACKED with flavor. And the red sauce was delicious! The mushroom pizza was the best pizza I've had in a while. The pecorino Romano hit just right with the shitaki and cremini mushrooms with the best sturdy, charred crust. I didn't plan on finishing it... but I couldn't help it. So good! I indulged in the Gully. A citrusy, white wine-esque (their description) IPA and it was so good I didn't veer off to try another. The service was excellent (we sat at the bar) and we were more than taken care of. Welcome to the neighborhood, Carbon Copy! I plan on getting to know you well!

So glad this spot opened. I've only been once so far, but the experience was good. -Beer was pretty good (I think I had a pale ale and an IPA) and will probably get better in the next few months -Pizza was tasty but I wish it had more structure (it was a bit too floppy to hold) -Interior is nice/cute, though I wish they had some noise-dampening materials, and they could use some more wall art imo -Service was friendly and attentive even though they were still quite new and probably still getting their feet under them -Clientele was a bit bougier than other spots in the neighborhood usually are, but I think that will fade once Carbon Copy isn't the "new spot to check out"

I was a great fan of Dock Street and was sad to see it close. But I'm happy to report that Carbon Copy offers many of the same things that made Dock Street so beloved: Wide variety of interesting beers, welcoming atmosphere that invites people from many different backgrounds and age groups, helpful, friendly and cheerful staff and owners, and delicious food (CC's pizza is the best in our neighborhood). I look forward to going to Carbon Copy anytime I can! A welcome neighborhood spot!

Great food, drinks & service! Thicker pepperoni and thin, crispy crust. The dough is great.

The beer is spot on. I particularly enjoyed the Willow Baltic Porter. I also tried the bindle pils and their west coast IPA which were true to style. They also have some unusual beer choices like an English dark mild and a Belgian table beer that I hope to try. The food, however, was unremarkable and overpriced. I thought the olives were nice, but 17 bucks for a mediocre 14" cheese pizza is pushing their luck. The brussels sprouts with radish and pork arrived limp. The radish and pork did not go particularly well with the brussels sprouts. The atmosphere is very hipster, so that could be good or bad depending on your preferences. TLDR: recommended for beer, but skip the food.

This is the spot! Beers, wine, and pizza are all fantastic. The "Tender" and Cab Franc were our favorites.

Great spot! All the beer is flavorful and well-poured, the staff was friendly, professional, and efficient even on their very busy opening weekend, and the food was all tasty. We felt neither rushed nor forgotten. The ambience is great -- similar to its predecessor (Dock Street) but just a touch brighter and friendlier. Highly recommend!

Great time at Carbon Copy! I love a West Coast IPA and they had Spur on tap and it did not disappoint. In addition to Spur, I had the Coy, Gully and Tender, all were stellar beers.We also got a cheese pizza which was so good, crispy crust and great flavor. Carbon Copy also cans their beer and they had a great selection for take out. Wonderful atmosphere and the food and beer are home runs, will definitely be back!
