The Best Restaurants On Long Beach Island - Jersey Shore - The Infatuation

"Dockside seems like a pretty typical diner. It’s a casual space with counter seats and a few booths, and it has a big menu with about 20 types of omelets, as well as sandwiches ranging from grilled cheese to one with Cajun mahi mahi. But the simple-sounding food is all excellent, and it’s right on the water. So if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to watch paddleboarders fall into the bay as you eat your banana and walnut pancakes." - alison kessler, regan stephens, matt tervooren, tonya russell

We had a great meal at Dockside!! There was no wait for dinner and the service was wonderful. We got the lobster ravioli and primavera pasta with added shrimp. It was absolutely delicious and probably one of the best meals we’ve had on the island! Highly recommend!

We walk here whenever we visit our friend in Spray Beach. Breakfast is decent. Usually about 65-70 bucks for 3 of us including tip. Our visit last week was unusual. My wife got the eggs /bacon / pancake combo and said her hash browns were not good like she remembered. She gave me half her pancake and under it was a curly hair. Wish I took a picture but my wife wiped it off with her napkin by then. My French Toast was exactly the same kind you buy in the freezer section of the grocery store - not fresh made or didn't taste that way (I eat a lot of F/T when we go out). Our friend got the 7 grain French Toast and liked hers but it's only 2 small pieces - not enough for me and I'm skinny. My wife said her poached eggs were very good. Wish I remembered what I got last visit (waffle maybe) as it was good. All in all it's a cute place - very friendly servers - nice to eat outside when not too hot - usually a line when we get there but it moves quickly.

Google
The Dockside is our favorite place to dine. Great relaxed atmosphere with friendly and knowledgeable staff on the menu. My wife and I find the food quality and choices are one of the best on the entire Island. Everything is so fresh with many local products being used. The chef is amazing and brings his home cooking/chef skills from Sicily. Also his wife is welcoming and brings good vibes to the patrons and the staff. Dockside is a must visit while on LBI.

Google
Best breakfast and service on LBI! Ask for Karen! We will always return! PLEASE go back to the original breakfast potatoes etc, the potatoes we had over 4th of July weekend were not the best.

Ellie Park

Google
Very cute diner! It is small inside and they don’t have water front seating out the back, but The inside is lovely. There is street only parking. The food selection for breakfast was nice but it was over $50 for two people and it wasn’t an overabundance of food for the price. The cream chipped beef was very good and the pancakes are large and fluffy. I would definitely return.

Google
Nonna’s meatballs were exquisite and the eggplant parmigiana was amazing!

Google
I grew up on LBI and we love it here!! My dad is in his 80’s and came here as a kid so it holds a special place in our heart! So much history and the atmosphere is awesome! The food is always amazing and the team here is incredibly friendly. Thank you for ALWAYS making my dad’s day with your Sailor omelette!!!

Google
My family and I go to the shore every year and we wanted to try a new breakfast place so we picked this restaurant. It was okay, not great . The place was very busy and the server seemed overwhelmed and forgot one order and beverages. The food was decent but nothing special. We ordered the crab omelet and crab Benedict. I would go back here for breakfast and give it another try.

Yelp
Delicious tuna melt (a week later - still dreaming bout that tuna!!) and my grilled chicken sandwich on a fresh roll with lettuce, tomato and onion, side of mayo. Pickles were awesome! Loved the Cajun fries. Adorable server - she was smart and knowledgeable about the menu even though she was new. She was amazing! Be back for dinner. BYOB! Yeah!

Yelp
Dockside is a small roadside diner set alongside the main boulevard. We came here twice in one weekend. Once for lunch and then the next morning for breakfast. Both times we were seated promptly and attended to very well by the servers. For lunch I had the Crab Salad which was flavorful. It is advertised to be with avocado and mango. I was envisioning slices of mango but instead it is like a mango and pepper salsa (see photo). Regardless it was good. For breakfast I had the Dockside Combo which is the 2 eggs, hash browns, choice of meat and toast. It arrived as expected with no complaints on my end. Everyone else was content with their orders.

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming here for years. It's exactly what you want from a Jersey Shore diner. Humble, kitschy, friendly service, basic but honest food options. Everything is clean, and tidy. This place is a sleeper, and rarely has a long wait. If you're coming to the Jersey shore for something authentic, this needs to be one of your stops.

Yelp
I recently went back to the dockside diner with my family and had a great experience. We all were hungry in between lunch and dinner after a day at the beach and the dockside had something on the menu for everyone. I was really impressed with the proportions of the food and how quickly everything was served. The restaurant was really clean and I think they've redecorated since I was last here. It was nice to have the choice of indoor and outdoor seating.

Julie P.

Yelp
Cozy spot with delicious breakfast and friendly service--perfect way to start to the day!

Yelp
Hungry for breakfast in the winter on long beach island. You will drive along time to find anything open. You made a good decision if you drove until you found the Dockside Diner. The decor is the shore. The servers were great. The food was the best breakfast we could find on the island. That said the I would return again and again. Finding a friendly face in the winter at the shore was worth the extra mile to get here.

Amanda O.

Yelp
Breakfast was great, we got there early so there was no wait but I can see it filling up fast. Cozy little diner.

John S.

Yelp
We have been coming to LBI for many years and just found this place. We had one of the best meals ever on the island! We were initially worried with the location and the length of the menu, but the 3 different dishes (Thai mango salad, Bella Sara salad and chicken kebabs with chimichurri) were all delicious and at least as good as their descriptions sounded. The location & ambiance was also much better than we expected for somewhere right on Long Beach Blvd. The server was very friendly and attentive, though I have to admit the diner was slow when we were there. We will definitely be back every year!

Yelp
Food was fantastic. One member of our party fell outside coming up the curb and the staff was very helpful. The view is lovely. Prices are reasonable. The seating is comfortable. The service was just right. There's only good things to say.

Yelp
This is a cool little diner with a chill vibe. The people working were real friendly and kept the table clear. We got 2 cups of Lobster Bisque. While not as good as the Lobster House in Cape May it was way better than Mikes in Sea Isle Only $5.99 a cup. I got a BLT. Just a classic sammie and was really good. The wife got the Long Beach Wrap and it was thick and she said it was very good. $48 w/tip. Im coming back here when I want soup and a sammie. Oh yeah...fries were real good.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so disappointed. I have been here before, and the food and overall place have taken a turn for the worse. We ordered pancakes with chocolate chips (Suzy Q) and it was horrible. How do you mess up on pancakes? I ordered the Long Beach wrap- I took two bites and that was it. I ate my fries (they were good). Last item ordered was Taylor Ham Benny. It was ok. The biggest gripe was the place was dirty-we sat in crumbs, table had straw wrappers and lemon pits on it, and utensils not clean. Hopefully this was just an off day but I'm not rushing back there.

Yelp
Dockside is a must stop for breakfast. I mean a small little quality diner with a bay view. Does it get any better than that? My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday morning. We got seated right away and the staff is quick but super friendly. I was torn between a breakfast option and a lunch option, when I asked the server for her opinion she automatically told me go for the lunch option. I'm so glad she did. I got a beer battered fried haddock wrap. Yumm! The fish was battered so perfectly and fried to amazement. It was perfectly crunchy in the wrap and carrots so well with the coleslaw and fresh veggies. It also came with a side of old Bay seasoned fries which were absolutely delicious. My boyfriend went for the breakfast club sandwich and it did not disappoint either. The seven grain bread that it was served on was really good. We also got a small fresh fruit cup. It had a great variety of different fruits and everything was super ripe and tasty. Dockside has a fantastic menu with tons of options. They are also open now for dinner which I cannot wait to try. In between the crabs Benedict, the crab omelette, and their fresh fish selection you can't go wrong here. Perfect small diner with a small flair on their menu. Give them a shot for breakfast or lunch when you're in LBI.

Yelp
A quick seating, excellent service by the way, she staff there and cleanup crew. Also breakfast is fairly priced waitress. Staff is always accessible great place to eat for breakfast with family two days in a row and I could be more happier.

Yelp
We have been to dockside diner multiple times for breakfast and went here for the first time for lunch yesterday. The pancakes here are amazing! They are the fluffiest pancakes I've had in Lbi. The fruit was also very fresh as well. Yesterday for lunch I ordered the Boat Slip wrap which had ham, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. It also came with bacon, but I asked for that to be removed. The wrap was very tasty and the French fries were great as well! We decided to sit outside since it was so nice outside and it was a great atmosphere. Our waitress was extremely friendly and the food came out about 5 minutes after ordering! We will be back in the future for more meals here!

Yelp
I have always enjoyed Dockside Diner. I usually get breakfast but this time decided to get a BLT. I should have sent it back but I had already started eating it when I realized what was going on. The toast tasted burned but didn't look burned - but when I opened up the sandwich the cook had turned the toast so that the burned sides of toast were facing the bacon and lettuce!! I really found that offensive. I couldn't even scrape off the burned part because the burned sides were saturated with tomato juice and mayo. I will be on high alert next time. Shame on the kitchen.

Yelp
Worth the 25 minute drive to grab lunch at a diner we've never tried before. Nicest people work here and our meals came out fresh n quick. Coffee was so smooth !!! Judge a diner by its Monte Cristo and this one was perfect. Stacked high and beat with ham , turkey and Swiss on some fluffy French toast bread. Last weekend before the the island turns into a crowded nightmare so I'd like to say we'll be back but it might be a bit.

Yelp
I have been going there for years Breakfast is Great Service is Great Dinner is always good Sarah is the best !

Ellen A.

Yelp
Very nice breakfast with a friend. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food and coffee. Would return again. Very good and friendly service.

Jodi H.

Yelp
We are regulars here and consider this to be our favorite breakfast spot. Never a disappointment. Excellent service, friendly staff and the food is consistently yummy.

Lindsay T.

Yelp
Dockside never disappoints! We are so happy it's open year round, gives us time to try every item on the menu which we always struggle to choose from...because everything is so terrific! The staff is attentive and friendly, the food is consistently great, and the diverse menu gives plenty of items to choose from! Make sure to grab a jar of their pasta sauce on your way out!

Yelp
Go here for huevos rancheros and it's probably best to sit inside or if outside to the left facing the entrance. We sat on the right outside facing the building and the smell and black flies killed me. Food came out quick but my food was not really that hot but it tasted decent when I added in sour cream. I just wish it was piping hot and fresh. Despite them having fresh basil and fresh veggies grown in planters in front, perhaps if we sat inside the experience would have been better? We were outside by the garbage and kept getting whiffs of the stench and surrounded by black flies. The floor, tables, menus and cushions weren't that clean either. The kids liked their Chocolate chip pancakes. Hub said his food was avg. and had 2 eggs O/E and his hashbrowns tasted burnt and his bacon was over cooked. I also asked if we could get the Cinnabon and the waitress was really nice and said she went to check but never came back with an answer.

Yelp
We come here often for breakfast. Last night we tried it for dinner for the first time, to celebrate my son's birthday. Great atmosphere, you feel like you've stepped back in time. My dad's chicken marsala was, he stated, some of the best he's ever had. I had the meatloaf special, delicious! My mom's chefs salad was incredible, as well. We love coming here and will be back again soon!

Chris M.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible meal..small portions, wait time to get food was an hour....no explanation from wait staff, nor management. We were completely dismissed. Exactly what you would expect from a tourist trap.
google avatar

Aimee G.

Yelp
Dockside diner was a great stop on a beautiful morning! While there was a wait, they have menus readily available to look over which is very convenient. Our waitress, Cassandra, was friendly and great with any accommodations our group needed. The man overboard will leave you stuffed- if you can even finish. I would highly recommend this place for a quick breakfast on the island. I need to go back to try dinner.

Yelp
Nice cute diner to stop in if you're on the strip. We went for breakfast one morning and it seemed packed but we were seated right away. That was the only thing that happened quickly. I think our waiter had a few issues remembering we were part of his section. Someone who I'm assuming is the (manager/owner) had to tell him to start our order. We got our drinks and immediately ordered. We chatted for a bit and then started to wonder where our order was. Another couple sat next to us and ordered and within a few minutes their food came out. We were waiting so long the other couple started to worry about us. Finally our waiter came back to check on us and saw that we didn't have food so I'm assuming he went to the kitchen to check. Within a few minutes we had our food. My wife had the chipped beef on French toast and she said she enjoyed it but she wished there was a bit more chipped beef. I had the corned beef breakfast sandwich on white toast, and it was less than impressive. There was not much corned beef, and excessive cheese. It was basically and egg and cheese sandwich. This place is BYOB so we know next time. Also make sure to check-in when you go for a 15% discount.

Matt H.

Yelp
It's a place to get a trusted meal, quickly. Is it the best food? No, but lots of variety and reasonable expectations will result in enjoying the meal. Our service was amazing, very attentive. The biggest downside is likely its size and location as sitting outside means listening to the cars on LBB but isn't overly disruptive.

Lauren C.

Yelp
French fries were good but mains were disappointing - the crab cake sandwich was visually off putting and lacked taste - the mahi sandwich was under seasoned and the veggie quesadilla was soggy :(

Emily and George T.

Yelp
Conveniently located in beach haven. Good breakfasts. Nice outdoor seating. Pleasant servers
google avatar

Gloria M.

Yelp
Service was great both Megan and Ryann are amazing servers. The old school diner ambience was totally nice. We had meatball's as an appetizer which started everything off wonderfully . I ordered the Pollo Guisado, it was so tasty. My husband had the Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti which he also loved. We topped it off with the most amazing milkshake. We will definitely be back.

Julia M.

Yelp
Great little diner with fresh veggies and herbs right out the window. Took a little while for the food to come out, but it was worth it. Staff was nice and attentive.

Anna K.

Yelp
Can I start with how quaint this adorable diner is. It's been there a long time and is just perfectly preserved. The staff are amazing! Sweet attentive and just downright awesome. And the food! Holy cow delicious! You won't find a better meal anywhere for those prices.

Shandor W.

Yelp
This is the best food on the island by a significant margin, and the service is exceptional. I haven't had a meal that didn't taste good, but the chicken Parm and the braciole have been personal highlights.
google avatar

Karly K.

Yelp
This place rules. Not sure why there is never a long wait to be seated considering it is delicious with diverse options for breakfast & lunch foods. The cinnamon roll French toast was life changing. Flavorful omelets. The fruit served on the side is always fresh and very sweet. Friendly service.

Sayer C.

Yelp
I have been coming to Dockside for a long time, and every time I go it is so consistent and so good. The food is delicious, from the eggs to the French toast. Our servers Addie and Meaghan were super friendly and made sure we were well taken care. Despite it being busy they always made sure we had everything that we needed. It feels so cozy every time you walk in, and I would highly recommend coming here for all family breakfast trips.

S G.

Yelp
I don't normally leave reviews, but this dining experience really saddened me. I completely understand servers being busy and under pressure, however our server Addie seemed purely hateful. She never checked on our table, one half of our table had received their food and was almost finished before the rest of the groups food ever came out. When the food did finally come, it was cold. At the end of our experience when we asked for a receipt, Addie threw the receipt down on our table as she passed by without so much as a glance in our direction. We've been patrons of The Dockside for years so it was sad to feel so unwanted in a place we've enjoyed for so long.
google avatar

Becky B.

Yelp
This cute, cozy spot is an LBI staple. Please, please, please add a vegan option for breakfast.
google avatar

Jaclyn P.

Yelp
I am so impressed and pleased with this diner! I have been coming here for what seems like forever and I am so happy to write this review. The service was incredible- this diner operates like a well-oiled machine. Each and every staff member- the waitresses, cooking crew, food runners, coffee maker- was so kind and respectful. They made us feel right at home and that they cared about our experience. Our waitress, Victoria, was so sweet, elegant, and professional! The food- excellent! Even the butter on the toast tasted delicious. Wonderful diner with an old school at-home feel. Definitely stop here if you're in the area! Thanks!
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Delicious food which is step above casual diner fare...and friendly service, worth waiting for a table. Also BYOB keeps cost reasonable on a v expensive island.
google avatar

Heidi O.

Yelp
Under new ownership and for the better. Excellent service, great outdoor area. I really enjoy the strawberry spinach salad and the Greek salad. Go check them out .
google avatar

Lawrence F.

Yelp
Had dinner there last night with the family Had the shrimp parmigiana and the pasta and the Linguine and clams and a burger platter Service Spot on ! Food Delicious ! Have eaten breakfast there and it was great Dinner is now on the plus list ! Hopefully they remain open throughout the off season as this would be a great addition to the off season restaurant offering on the island. Pricing and portions we also spot on ! A GREAT ADDITION TO THE RESTURANT SCENE ON THE ISLAND !
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Would have given four stars because we really enjoyed our meals for lunch today (turkey wrap and blacken Mahi Maho sandwich) AND they have gluten bread/buns. Sitting at the booth by the door spoiled our whole eating experience!! The door slams EVERY TIME someone comes in or out of the restaurant which then shakes whole booth and goes through your body. We found it difficult to ignore. They have to fix this as well as the "direct" personality from management when taking orders!!!

Michael P.

Yelp
Nice cozy little diner. Service was cheerful and pleasant. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I have to eat gluten free and our Ethan (our waiter) doubled checked with the chef to make sure my dinner was gluten free. I got the chicken stew with rice and beans it was definitely homemade and delicious. My wife got the squash ravioli in a sage and brown butter sauce. She said it was very light, fresh, and out of this world. My Mother-in-law got the coconut shrimp that she said that they were just perfect. The place, service, and food was exceptional all at a reasonable price. We are definitely going back.

CJ R.

Yelp
Great food, friendly and attentive staff, Dockside never disappoints! Love that they are open all year round and have a great selection on the menu (but not the overwhelming 17 pages of menus of some NJ diners!) I had one of the best grilled chicken sandwiches there today, yum! Support this local staple, you will not regret it!
google avatar

Yelp
We went there for breakfast today. The tall dark-haired man who seated us was not very friendly, so my first impression wasn't the greatest. I don't know if he was the owner or an employee. If he was the owner, then he definitely needs to step it up and fake being friendly. Would it kill him to say, "Enjoy your meal." when he seats customers? We ordered coffee, a cheese and bacon omelette, cinnamon bun pancakes, and well done bacon. The food was decent enough but nothing great. The coffee was very strong, not hot, and tasted old. The second cup was better. If the coffee sits too long, they should throw it out, not service it to customers. The omelette was burnt and it didn't have very much bacon or cheese. Only one piece of toast came with it. Two pieces of toast is the industry standard. Lol. The hash browns were the shredded type, not sliced potatoes. They're not my favorite. My pancakes were thick and fluffy but I didn't love the cinnamon bun topping swirled on top. The food was served hot and brought directly from the kitchen by the cook. It cooled off fast though, because we were sitting directly under this big fan/light that was very effective at cooling off the entire restaurant. It must be great on a hot summer day. Today wasn't hot and I was freezing sitting under it. The waitress was nice enough but I don't appreciate being asked to tip a minimum of 20%, and up to 30%. It's ridiculous. Then the server stands there and waits for you to sign the check and fill out the tip on the machine because it's all electronic. It's annoying. I won't be returning to Dockside Diner mainly because of the food. I don't recommend it. Go to The Chicken or the Egg instead. The food is much better, especially the bacon and cheese omelette and they give you two pieces of toast!

Yelp
Amazing food, amazing views and super prompt service. This is what every beachside restaurant should be!

Yelp
On my family's last day of our LBI trip, we decided to come here for breakfast and it was the best breakfast we had during our trip. When we arrived, there was a bit of a wait due to there only being outside seating available (COVID restrictions). The staff was very accommodating and got us seated within 15 minutes. The menu is large and has something for everyone. I ordered the crab cake eggs benedict based on the recommendation of our server which came with hash browns as well. The crab cake eggs benedict was incredible as the eggs were poached perfectly, the Hollandaise sauce was great, and the crab cake was good too. The other members of my party liked their dishes as well which included a chicken sandwich, an omelette, and a turkey wrap. The portion sizes here are large and present good value. The service was excellent and very attentive. Overall I would highly recommend the Dockside Diner for breakfast or lunch.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
The food took forever, like 1.5 hours, we thought about just leaving. The crab cakes were terrible- all filler and burnt. We won't eat dinner here again.

Casey S.

Yelp
So, we've been going to Dockside for breakfast for years. Usually a long wait in the summer, any day, but the staff is friendly. Recently we tried their delivery for dinner. Complete disaster. I ended up driving down there an hour and a half after we ordered because, no food, no answer on the phone. They said their driver was missing, by choice. They remade my food, we ate over two hours after we ordered. Tonight we were going g to give them another shot and order dinner to be picked up. No answer on the phone for a half hour Not sure what happened to the Dockside, but it's not good. Maybe they should just stick to breakfast?

Yelp
Great spot!! Outside seating under canopy is lovely. We took our dog there today and it worked perfectly! Great avocado toast. My fave is the BLT wrap.
