Yelp
I went there last night with my parents and my husband. It's the cute shop on the corner. I know it's a little hard to find because the name is printed on the glass, and for safety reasons, I wasn't able to see the name as I turned. They are taking COVID precautions seriously. The staff was wearing facemasks and upon entering, they sanitize your hands and take your temp. I am a bit disappointed that the hand sanitizer is the one that smells like a a bad tequila shot. It made me nauseous for a bit and I lost part of my appetite.
Ambiance - from the street, the interior reminds me of a nice little coffee/pastry shop in Europe or Dallas (where I'm from). We were seated outside. We couldnt see much as it was dark, but they seem to have a cute garden and deck area. There are stringlights and I love how the building still has its shutters. The decor outside is simple but classy and trendy. The exterior would be a nice place for hosting an event.
Staff - our waiter was attentive and excellent. He frequently refilled our glasses with water in an unobtrusive way. I usually didn't notice him refilling until I looked at my glass. He was knowledgeable of the menu. The hostess also was nice. I asked how long the restaurant has been opened and she said it's been about 2 years! I definitely missed out, but I am happy tonsee they are doing well. I think the manager rounded and asked how everything was, but I wouldn't know if he's the manager, supervisor or owner as I didn't catch his name if he introduced himself. The facemasks make it difficult to hear and understand people.
Food - we ordered a salad with a sweet vinaigrette, apples, walnuts and gorgonzola. The flavors were perfectly balanced and thensalad was delicious. We also ordered ghe capresse and that was delicious as well and nicely balanced. The charcuterie board was also delicious and beautifully presented although my husband and I thought it was a little underwhelming. There were 2-3 cuts of meat and 2-4 different cheeses. Considering the price and the fact that most of these should be imported, I would agree with the amount served, but I don't think these meats really were of the quality needed to only provide a few pieces. My parents enjoyed it though.
The pizza was delicious and . We had the classic and the meat supreme pizza. The crust was nice and soft with just the right amount of burnt edges. The flavor was excellent. Toppings were great and perfectly balanced. I enjoyed the thin crust and how I felt after I finished eating. I was satisfied but not feeling sick or heavy like when I eat take out pizza. I wish we had tried the fig pizza, but I was outnumbered. There are some interesting combos that are like a pizza and local cuisine fusion such as the chilaquiles pizza, the elote pizza and the choriqueso...but alas, we werent feeling too adventurous that night.
Dessert - we had the tiramisu cheesecake and the cannoli. Both were delicious. The tiramisu cake is primarily a cheesecake with tiramisu bits baked in to it. It has a traditional cocoa powdering on top luke tiramisu does. I wish it had more of a coffee/tiramisu flavor. The cheesecake overwhelmed the tiramisu so much so that it may as well have been cheesecake only, but either way, the cake itself was delicious.
The cannoli were delicious as well. We had pistachio and chocolate chip. Both had generous portions of the chips and pistachios. Traditionally, the chips are much smaller though. I am unsure the reason for this, but the cream was melting out of the cannoli and it made for messy eating, but I don't mind getting my hands dirty.
Price - $$ our total bill came out to about $80 (not including tip). Considering you have excellent service, upscale and trendy ambiance and artisan puzza and a beautiful presentation of tasty food, it is worth it. Also, this was the cost for 3 appetizers, 2 pizzas, 2 desserts and 2 Teotihuacan sodas. They did have a promotion going on for desserts.
Overall, the experiemce was comparable to a nicer restaurant in Dallas. It is a very trendy restaurant and I would highly recommend it if you need to take someone out on a date, need to host an event or need to take a business client out for dinner, or if you're hanging out with trendy friends on a Saturday night. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.
