Chipotle to Pay $20 Million to NYC Workers in Lawsuit Over Compensation and Paid Sick Leave Violations | Eater NY

"I was told that Windsor Terrace’s Dog Day Afternoon has seen sales rise about 50 percent for its $15 take on Chicago’s iconic Italian beef sandwich, part of a broader nationwide surge in demand for Italian beefs reported alongside renewed attention around the FX show The Bear." - Emma Orlow

Dog Day Afternoon Review - Windsor Terrace - New York - The Infatuation

"Going to Dog Day Afternoon is a lot like stopping by your neighbor’s place for a bite, if your neighbor had a Ms. Pacman machine, a sick vintage record collection, and enough wit to name a hot dog joint after a classic heist movie that was shot in the neighborhood. This Windsor Terrace spot makes excellent Chicago-style Italian sandwiches (a hot dog is a sandwich, fight us), and you should eat here ASAP. Despite the menu’s Midwestern accent, this is a VBR (Very Brooklyn Restaurant). Yeah, they make a Chicago dog, a Chicago-style Italian beef sandwich, and a Chicago-style Italian sausage sandwich loaded with giardiniera—but when the weather's nice, the guy grilling the sausage will be doing so on the sidewalk, wearing a Roll N Roaster T-shirt. He’ll dress the sandwich on a folding table perched over a few crates of $2 records, and more than a few of those records will be Rat Pack alumnus. Customers, neighborhood folks, staff (who knows, really; the lines here are blurry) will lounge on lawn chairs scattered along the sidewalk between the storefront and the street. We love it when so-called junk food is taken seriously, and that’s exactly what happens behind the counter at Dog Day Afternoon. The cheese sauce that crowns several dishes has the texture of liquid crayon with an ideal balance of salt and cream, which is how we like our cheese sauce. Proper topping ratios are carefully maintained so that nothing overwhelms, and the Chicago dog is so textbook perfect you can cross-check it against the official Vienna Beef diagram by the register. It might feel easy to write this place off as just a really good hot dog spot with a cute space. It is that, but what truly makes Dog Day Afternoon special is the way it's become a fixture in the community. Even if it’s your first time here, the staff will make you feel like this has been your spot for years. After a visit or two, you might find yourself exclusively seeing movies at the Nitehawk down the block so you have an excuse to grab a hot dog after. The restaurant worms its way into your heart. It makes you want to be a regular. Food Rundown Chicago Dog This Vienna Beef hot dog comes in a poppy seed bun with Ecto-Cooler colored relish, cute little sport peppers, pickles, tomatoes, and a sprinkle of celery salt. Even the proper Chicagoans we’ve taken here say this is as close to the real thing as you can get out east. Chili Cheese Dog Some chili cheese dogs dissolve into a soggy, inedible mess the moment you look at them, but not this one. Through some kind of alchemy, Dog Day's version manages to maintain impeccable form from the first bite to the last. We especially love the depth of flavor the chili imparts and the plasticine texture of the cheese. Frito Pie One of our sleeper favorites on the menu, we’d come here just to get the Frito pie. It’s a study in textures; The Fritos somehow maintain a satisfying crunch despite being buried under layers of expertly applied meat sauce and cheese. It’s the best Frito pie we’ve had. Italian Beef If you want an Italian beef made by chefs with a bit of a pedigree, you can get that here. The giardiniera packs some serious heat, and the sesame-seeded bun has the perfect balance of squish and chew. You’ll want to order your sandwich thoroughly dipped. Orange Whip If you were planning to share this with someone, change your plans. The orange whip is both impossibly light and decadently creamy, with the perfect hit of citrus tang. You’ll be scraping your straw against the bottom of the cup before you know it, desperately trying to scrounge up one last sip. Polish Dog A charred, split sausage positively smothered in grainy mustard, onions, and sport peppers. If you want your dog to bite back, get this one. Chili Cheese Fries The only thing we don’t love. The chili and cheese are excellent, but better applied on the hot dog and Frito pie. The fries, alas, are a bit limp." - Carina Finn

Greg was not just our dog walker for the better part of 20 years, he was like a part of our family. His love of dogs and his ability to run a business is just tablestakes. The real magic is who Greg is: kind, caring, invested, personable, wise, empathetic... So, sure, if you are looking for a reliable dog walker who knows what it means to show up on time and treat your pet with love and care, Greg's your guy. What we found in Greg was so much more. We were quite lucky to have had Greg as a presence in our lives for so many years.

I could not be more thankful for Greg at Dog Day Afternoon. My dog has been with him for the past 5 months every day, and Greg is incredible with him. He picks my dog up every day from my apartment and brings him with other dogs in his van to the dog park to let them run around together, playing and exploring, for a half hour. My dog is small compared to the other dogs and was scared of the dog park at first when I took him myself, and now he does great at the park and loves to explore. My dog also loves Greg and is so excited when he comes, and sleeps like a rock after he comes home from playing with the dogs. Greg has also helped me with separation anxiety guidance for my dog while I went back to work, and he offered so much great advice and options for me for ways he could help accommodate him. He is someone who truly cares about the dogs he works with and is just as kind to their owners. Dog Day Afternoon has been the best company I've worked with since moving to Chicago. Greg is professional, communicative, kind, and a true dog-whisperer. I can see why he has worked with the same dogs for so many years. I would recommend his service to anyone, and hope to work with him for years in the future.

Google
I am so grateful to have found Dog Day Afternoon. My previous dog walker would stop by for a quick walk around the block, sending someone new each day, and I never felt they were really walking her as long as I signed up for. With DDA, everyday Greg takes the group to the dog park for a good 30-45 minutes. It's perfect for someone with an energetic dog who needs to let her energy out. My dog is also better behaved since she started going DDA - Greg is a dog whisperer and she now comes as soon as I call her. I love this service and recommend it to anyone looking to get the best bang for your buck and deal for your pup!

Greg has been walking our dog for over 8 years. She loves him and we love him. He is very professional, extremely trustworthy, and quite knowledgable. I've recommended him to several people. I can't imagine ever using any other dog walker.

Google
Greg has been walking our dog, Annie for almost five years. She loves going on her walks with Greg and the other pups. I have watched Greg with the dogs and he is interactive as well as observant and loving. I trust Greg with our dog-child and with the keys to our home.

Google
Greg and Chris were absolutely wonderful. They took excellent care of our 2 Bernese Mountain dogs for 4.5 years and would recommend them to anyone.

Google
Dog owners should at least try it.

Yelp
Greg and Chris walked our dogs for 5 years when we lived in Wicker Park and were absolutely amazing. They took great care of our two Bernese Mountain dogs like they were their own. There is no one else in the area I'd trust to take care of our dogs more then Chris or Greg. They're absolutely the best and they'll be impossible to replace. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs their dog taken care of.

Yelp
My co worker referred me to Greg when I moved into Logan Square with my little guy Winston. Since he's only 20 pounds, my biggest concern is always other dogs being too rough with him at the park, but I never feel nervous leaving him in Greg's hands. Greg is incredibly flexible with my changing schedule and I can only imagine how excited Winston gets when Greg shows up while I'm at work. He's affordable, too. Highly recommend! Way better than having a random person from Wag come over to walk him around the block.

Yelp
Greg has been with my Dog for 8 years since he was adopted. Greg owns a real appreciation & deep understanding of his packs and appreciation for, us, the dog owners. I never worry about the day knowing my boy is in great hands. Dog Day is also flexible, timely and affordable if you're in need of frequent service. I look forward to Greg having his own space that may afford me more time when necessary.

Yelp
I use Greg to watch my dog when we go out of town, and I can't tell you how much more I can enjoy my vacation knowing that Greg has her. He treats her as if she is his own dog, and I know she is getting lots of safe play time everyday. I worry about my dog as if she's my kid, and it is such a relief to have a reliable and loving person to take care of her.

Yelp
I cannot explain how happy I am that our neighbor recommended Greg and Dog Day Afternoon. Julia, who works for Greg, takes my dogs out every day. They just love her and she is so good with them. I trust her 110% and I never worry about a thing knowing they're in her hands. I highly, HIGHLY recommend Dog Day Afternoon. This is a reliable, caring, trustworthy and professional group! And their prices are beyond reasonable, too.

Yelp
I have what some would say is a crazy dog. I have had trainers, vets, and pet shop employees all tell me that they have never really met a dog quite like Twiggy before. He's high energy, demands constant attention, and very possessive. I love him. When I had to go away on a week long trip I was concerned about where or who I was going to leave him with. The nearby kennels were just too costly and it felt cruel to leave Twiggy in a small enclosed area for a week with the ability to run free for only a small portion of the day. Plus it was highly unlikely that Twiggy would be able to handle being around that many dogs. None of my friends would take him and my parents are unable to care for a dog. Then I met Greg and my concerns were out the door. Greg somehow managed to calm Twiggy down and after visiting him a few times at the dog park I knew that he would be the best person to care for my dog while I was away. Every dog I have seen him with is well behaved and listens to his commands whenever need be. This was a huge concern of mine going into my trip. How would Twiggy behave? Greg kept me updated as to how Twiggs was doing and made me feel at ease knowing that he was in good hands. I was able to enjoy my trip without worry about anything. One of my main concerns for this trip was staying within my budget, and leaving Twiggy with Greg helped me do just that. I highly recommend Dog Day Afternoon whether it is for dog walking or boarding. Greg is friendly, caring, and extremely knowledgeable about dogs and their behaviors. He will see to it that your dog will be a happy dog which in turn will make for a happy owner.

Yelp
I saw this guy w seven dogs at wicker park dog park. He's neglected to follow the rules for as long as 4 years. He also neglected to address this issue in his response to another review complaining about this. I've also had this guys dog get aggressive with my dog. He reprimanded the dog but never said anything to me. When a dog is misbehaving the kind and professional thing to do is leave. This guy ruins the dog park experience for others whose dogs behave and are beta vs alpha.

Yelp
After going through a few different dog walking companies, I finally found Greg. He has been by far the best, most professional dog walker we have used. We used him for just under 2 years and unfortunately moved away so we could no longer use his phenomenal services. He took such great care of Louie the entire time. Anything I ever needed, he was always readily available! He has years and years of experience and can handle any situation that may arise at a dog park. I never doubted leaving Louie in his care. HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who is looking for their dog to be cared for and taken to the park every day!

Yelp
My partner and I had the luck of finding Greg / Dog Day Afternoon October of 2016. He has picked up our two young girls 3 days a week since - a stubborn coonhound and a boisterous leopard dog. If there is anyone you can trust to take care of the pooches and help rear them into adulthood with loving care and a deep understanding of their ways, it is Greg!! Greg's character is of the highest integrity. He would not shirk the responsibility of a customer's dog, and as I've claimed already, his knowledge of canine health and behavior is deep. On multiple occasions, Greg has given us great advice. For example, we found out a few weeks after adopting the coonhound that she had heartworms. Our vet treated this as a grave diagnosis and provided a long list of very expensive and 'necessary' steps - medicines, therapies, etc - that we would need for a full recovery. After mentioning the news to Greg, without prompt he repeated all of the information the vet gave us, but left out the superfluous treatments. We went to a different vet who confirmed Greg's info. She is fully recovered at 1/6th the cost. Greg has saved us vet visits on multiple occasions by telling us what to do or what something meant in different scenarios. When you use Greg you're vicariously gaining his experience, which is incredibly valuable. Though I've used Yelp intermittently over the years, this is my first review. I think the platform can be mob-minded and in instances gives too much power to irrational, spiteful people. "Truth I." and "Stephen N." represent the epitome of this. What Greg provides for the dog park's community is invaluable. He brings in the best-socialized dogs around... His crew meets and plays with new dogs weekly. They are accustomed to being around dogs of all shapes, sizes, and behaviors. In fact, as a frequent dog park-er, this is how I initially became aware of Greg. He would come to the park with a few dogs and, every time, those dogs created a fun, playful, energy-depleting environment for my leopard dog (a pup at the time). When we were in need of dog-care, I looked him up. He did a thorough assessment of their behavior and does NOT bring dog-aggressive animals to the park. Do not pay attention to these two vindictive people with ridiculous assumptions who need their egos pandered to at THE DOG PARK of all places....

Chad E.

Yelp
I've known Greg since I first began taking my pup to the dog park about a year and a half ago. After seeing him interact with his groups of dogs over that period of time and talking to him extensively I decided that if I ever didn't have the time during the day to come home and walk my dog I would only use Greg. Well, now he's walking my dog 5 days a week and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the result.

Yelp
i frequent the wicker park dog park on the regular and it seems to be the typical hang out for dog day afternoon. First off Greg does not play by the rules.....3 dog per person, I have seen him bring an upwards of 8 dogs before. He hardly watches them . My dog was lightly bitten by one of his dogs, as he was laying down. Greg hardly had the kindness to say sorry. I am not 100 percent sure but I am willing to bet that these dogs don't really go for walks, just let loose in the dog park. There is no substitute for a good structured walk, with the park being a bonus.

Yelp
Greg and Dog Day afternoon took my dog out for last four years. The only reason why were not there any more is because I moved to Colorado. Honestly, he's one of the best dog people I've ever met. He really gets the dog and cares for them. August, my dog is a German Sheperd and is tough to handle sometimes, but August listened to Greg and it put me at such ease knowing that she was always in good hands with him. Not only is he great with the dogs, but he's punctual. I could always relay that between 12-12;30 he was arriving to get August and take her out while I was at work. Then she would come home all tuckered out from playing with the other dogs. It's really a great situation for dogs who like to play with other dogs. I couldn't have been more happy with the Dog Day afternoon service. Thank you Greg, it was a wonderful 4 years!!! .

Yelp
One of the larger downsides to leaving Chicago is having to find another dog walking service. Greg does an amazing job and always treats the dogs like his own. I highly recommend using his service if you are looking for a reliable dog walker who treats your dog like family!
