I was seriously jonesing for a hot dog one afternoon. A monkey was riding high on my back and there was no way for me to rid it until I had an acceptable red hot in my belly.
But where to go? Dallas is low on the tank when it comes to eateries that specialize in dogs. So I did a little research, including this here website, and decided to give the Dog Haus a try.
When I sauntered in on a weekend afternoon, there were only a half-dozen tables occupied. I decided to try the kissing cousin of a hot dog...the Das Brat...which featured a bratwurst, onions, sauerkraut and brown mustard.
And did I mention they have tater tots? I've never lost my love of a good tater tot since my early days of a tot myself.
The joint is counter service and I got my order in under 15, which was fine. The Das Brat was tasty and flavorable, but the tots were a little too crisp in my book of Tot Cuisine 101.
But I'm giving this joint a low three on the magical star rating system. Why, you might ask?
Well, to tell the truth, I had to sit outside on a windy day because kids were running all over the inside seating area. While this is a difficult issue for restaurants, especially those that are casual, I refuse to return to a joint which had a problem with kid-control.
Enough said.
