"LA-based gourmet hot dog shop Dog Haus is expanding all over the DMV after opening its first East Coast location in Bethesda in 2018. The latest locale in Dupont Circle is the first inside the District. Served on grilled King’s Hawaiian Rolls, these all-beef hot dogs are dressed up with ingredients like wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions, and spicy basil aioli — the toppings for the “Sooo Cali” dog. These biergartens stay open late, until 2 or 3 a.m. on the weekends." - Adele Chapin

"This long-standing neighborhood watering hole is huge, with lots of room to spread out across 40 tables. There are four different bars, several televisions, and a large menu listing both food and beer options." - Travis Mitchell

"Head to Bethesda and chow down on an Impossible burger in full and slider sizes. The standard is dressed with pickles, lettuce, tomato, onion, secret sauce, and white American cheese. The slider comes with white American cheese, mayo and caramelized onions. The Dog Haus also serves up two types of plant-based sausages." - Travis Mitchell

"This relatively new addition to Bethesda has an entire selection of totchos combinations. Chili cheese tots, nacho cheese tots, and “love boat” tots (chili and slaw) are among the offerings." - Missy Frederick

"Opened April 13 as the chain’s first East Coast location, this industrial-style spot at 7904 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda serves its signature grilled King’s Hawaiian roll hot dogs overseen by Food Network star Adam Gertler, including the “Sooo Cali” (wild arugula, avocado, tomato, crispy onions, and spicy basil aioli) and the “Chili Idol” (an all-beef dog topped with chili, cheddar cheese sauce and onions), along with corn dogs, a fried chicken sandwich, chili cheese tots, loaded fries, beer-battered onion rings, milkshakes and soft-serve; there’s also a full bar with wines, roughly two dozen local beers and rosé slushies. Early responses are split: some diners say “everything was really tasty,” praise the full bar and value (one reviewer noted a meal with two drinks ran about $30), and enjoy the chic, cozy wood-and-iron interior, fun music and buzzing, energetic staff; others found the dogs underwhelming or “missing something,” criticized young or undertrained staff and chaotic service, and warned that the concrete/tile/wood interior, many TVs and loud music make the place noisy and hard to have a conversation." - Tierney Plumb
