"In a city famed for its location by the bay, you’d think there’d be little space for a new seafood-focused restaurant to feel truly unique. But Le Fantastique, the stylish seafood-wine bar from the restaurateur couple behind Palo Alto’s Bird Dog manages quite well. Sure, there’s enough caviar to appeal to even the bougiest of diners, including hefty quenelles atop gorgeous eclairs, but it’s chef Robbie Wilson’s knack for turning pristine pieces of fish into bite-sized flavor bombs that really makes the meal. There are chamomile-kissed slices of ivory hirame, brook trout swimming in dill-infused pine nut milk, and fatty squares of big eye tuna piqued with barbecue flavor. But if you’re lucky enough to catch the hyper-seasonal firefly squids while they’re on the menu, don’t hesitate. Wilson explains they’re only available for a few weeks a year from Japan and are prized for their texture: custardy heads, rich as a jammy egg yolk, with tiny tentacles grilled to the ideal delicate crunch. You can wrap them up in nasturtium leaves with tiny flower-shaped cucumber cutouts if you want — or maybe more accurately, if you have enough patience to not inhale them on sight." - Eater Staff

Google
The place and the parking lot is very small. When it is busy it is hard to find parking. The food was so good. One of the best ramen I have ever had. The place is very small and busy. I would not recommend this place for large parties. Also have in mind that they have tables outside in case you don't mind.

Google
We love this place and I want to give them 5 stars but the last time we went there, the soy ramen was meh! It was probably a one-off, and won’t stop us from going here again. I’d highly recommend the Mushroom ramen, vegetarian yakimeshi (crispy rice with pickled plum! So good!!!) and the vegetarian appetizers.

Google
One of the good places in general in the area. We liked the ramen but to be honest we haven’t been back because there are a lot of places to try in the area. There are a lot of good places here and you would never be out of choices.

Hitomi Iwamoto

Google
Went there for lunch , sit outside patio , good weather and quiet . Ordered Asahi’s chashu ramen , love this noodle texture ,feel like eating little boba , ha ha ! Service is great !

Google
Fantastic for lunch. We had a range of the menu items form my rice bowl to ramen and everyone was satisfied. Portions are quite big but friendly staff provide take home boxes. Even for ramen. A lot more kara-age than expected in the appetizer order. Outdoor as well as indoor eating area. Kids menu was great. Kids ramen and kind of a mixed plate available. But sharing with adults is also no issue because of portion sizes.

Chris Webster

Google
Went here for tapas and dinner. There is off street parking and both indoor and outdoor seating. The ramen was good, they have kids ramen which was thoroughly enjoyed. The tapas were a mixed bag with the pickled cucumber good, but the calamari so/so being over cooked and the pot stickers being a little overcooked as well.

Aditya Gudla

Google
Meh. Broth flavor was inconsistent and not think too. Def subpar compared to the other ramen placed bay area offers.

Google
The food was just okay.. The tan shio (beef tongue) is cold and overcooked. Ramen was ok, but just ordinary. Grilled unagi is good, especially the rice is delicious. The service is okay. However, the air is not very fresh. The hair and clothes were full of cooking smell after dining.

Yelp
Pro tip: The sizzling rice plates are the hidden gem here! I enjoy the ramen too but usually get the curry or eggplant sizzle because the crispy rice is that good. Croquettes and karagi (super crunch!) are delicious as well. Service is friendly and fast. It's often busy, and everyone works very hard. The building is cinder block, so just your expectations there.bBathrooms clean but minimal and not so great. But come for the homestyle food and appreciate this hidden treasure for what it is!

Yelp
Spot for ramen and other small plates in a hidden area off of San Antonio. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2 Cost to worth it rating: 3 Opentableable: no reservations Return worthiness: wouldn't run back but might try other items on the menu if others wanted to go Highlights: - Pumpkin croquettes: my fave dish we had. Crispy katsu-like exterior with smooth and slightly sweet pumpkin inside. 5 stars - Variety of menu: cold and hot appetizer plates, several ramen broth options, rice bowls, and onigiris. - Big patio outside on the street that could be nice in warmer weather. Midlights: - Spicy miso signature ramen: thin meat cha shui and chunks of pork belly were good. Huge bowl. Broth was ok but didn't have much depth. 3 stars - Shrimp dumplings: not much flavor. Boiled and shrimp very minced. 2.5 stars Lowlights: - Atmosphere: low key, no frills, casual environment which is fine, but the environment wasn't so inviting to dine in. Was ok and there are so many Japanese ramen places around not sure if we'll be back.

Yelp
it was a good amount of busy when we got there, and we got seated very fast. the food came out quickly as well! we ordered the tonkatsu dohatsuten & the tonkatsu asahi chashu, which we demolished HAHA it was so much yummier in person versus when we take out. very tender meat and chewy noodles + flavorful soup :) there's lots of space inside and outside! parking is a bit hard, so i'd suggest looking near the palo alto gas station first.

Henry L.

Yelp
So I think this is definitely a hidden gem among ramen spots in the area. They give HUGE portions, with really excellent flavoring. If it is your first time, be sure to go with the Dohatsusen, with your selection of broth. The spicy miso is legit, and they will top it off with the spicy minced pork that makes this place so unique. Oyako don is great as well, and they have a menu catered to kids (Yup, they will eat their vegetables for a chance at getting something from the gatcha machine!) If the indoor seating is too old school for you, then the outdoor seating is a nice option. Just know there might be winds.

Anita L.

Yelp
I was pretty happy with my experience here at Dohatsuten. Came here to meet up with a friend for lunch, they had plenty of outdoor seating when we arrived so we got to choose where we wanted to sit. The owner/manager offered to bring out a bowl of water for my dog which was a nice gesture. My friend and I decided to both get the Dohatsuten ramen. I ordered mine with tonkatsu broth and with an added poached egg. I thought the meal was delicious - the broth was savory and umami, the noodles were well cooked, there was a generous portion of meat, and the toppings all paired very well together. I ended up eating the whole thing and didn't even feel overly stuffed afterward.

Auggie L.

Yelp
Went for Lunch Food - 3/5. The yakimeshi was loaded with toppings with a healthy portion of chashu. Chashu had good sear and seasoning but was on the drier side. Kimchi had good flavor but was cut way too big, especially compared to the chashu, making for an uneven bite. Soybean sprouts were present to include a crunchy texture but because the kimchi was already there providing that, the textures just clashed; I would've preferred the sprouts to be cooked. Rice was fluffy with a nice crust but the hard texture got tiring due to the dryness of the pork. The concept sounded great but the execution fell short of expectations. Service - 4/5. Service was prompt and the food was delivered quickly. Value - 2/5. The chashu & kimchi rice bowl was $19 which is pretty standard in the area. Portion size is good, but the quality leaves much to be desired. Parking - Private Lot (Free)

Yelp
I think it was just a normal ramen place not exceptional but not too bad. I got the spicy miso ramen with the chicken karaage. Service was good!

Chris T.

Yelp
I used to come here a lot for Ramen noodles. Their Taro Ramen are great and my daughter loved the kids Ramen. On our last visit we ordered and waited. People came after us and got food. After about 20 minutes, I called our server and asked about our food and he said they were so busy, but really there were not that many in the restaurant and not many orders on the pickup shelf. At that time, people were seated around us and ordered. After another 10 minutes we got our food and 1 minute later, the people around us who ordered got theirs (also Ramen noodles). I asked the server if they had forgotten about our order, but he denied it and repeated that they were just very busy, even after it was obvious that they did forget. Servers mess up, kitchens mess up. It's not a big deal. At that point you go to the customer and apologize, maybe offer to comp the meal, but an apology will usually do. That server maintained his smug attitude and kept repeating his lie. Needless to say I will not return.

Yelp
Always so good. It's been a while since ive been here but it's always delicious. Service is quick and food is excellent. I love the chicken nanban, tan Shio, and pumpkin croquettes. I always have a hard time choosing between Dohatsuten ramen or asashi ramen.

Yelp
We wanted a hole in a wall place to have lunch while in this area. We looked up this place ahead of time and headed over here after our morning activity. Has their own lot and two men and women restroom located outside in their parking lot. Indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoor and the man who checked us in got us a high chair for our little one. Lamented menus and the decor is very outdated and homey. Service is a minimal which we are perfectly fine with. The food took a while to come out even though we arrived shortly after they opened at 11am and it wasn't overly busy. Yaki Onigiri $6.95 (2 pieces. Grilled rice balls, soy sauce & butter-flavored, no filling) Well done. All three of us were able to enjoy this. Came out pippin' hot! Dohatsuten Ramen $16.25 (Spicy garlic minced pork, shredded chili, chashu pork, stewed taro pork, cabbage, carrots, green onions, chives, bean sprouts, nori seaweed, half egg) - My husband's. He enjoyed it. Taro Pork Ramen $15.95 (simmered tender pork belly, green onions, bean sprouts, spicy bamboo shoots, nori seaweed, half egg*) + extra noodles. We both got ours with Tonkastu broth. Unfortunately, I felt like the broth was spicy. I don't like spicy and we came with our toddler in which I was sharing my noodles with. I can eat spicy but it doesn't make my dining experience enjoyable. My pork belly was soft and delicious. We won't be coming back unfortunately as I don't want to be surprised by a spicy broth. Price point is good.

Stan N.

Yelp
I like the homey, plain atmosphere. I've always liked the food here. Especially the iron rice pots. Ramen is good. I'd rate 5 stars if the service were a bit more courteous.

Christen D.

Yelp
I am REALLY not sure why this place is not rated 5/5 stars on Yelp as I have been absolutely blown away by the food and service each time I've dined in! The location is great - right off 101 in Palo Alto, but parking is a little confusing! There is ample parking alongside the restaurant, but you will need to turn in much earlier than you expect in order to get to it - otherwise you need to make a U-turn down the road (you will see what I mean). I especially love dining outdoors there, as they have huge tables with really nice ambiance and air that doesn't compare to dining inside (but it's still nice inside). My boyfriend has tried various ramen spots in Japan and swears that this place is the best ramen place in the peninsula alongside Mensho Tokyo. I can say I definitely agree! The tonkotsu ramen here is HUGE, with lots of toppings and generous servings. I always leave with leftovers no matter how large my appetite is when I arrive. Lots of flavor, lots of noodles, lots of broth, and lots of green onions (a huge plus for me). Service is always so, so kind and attentive! We are usually always served outside by a very nice elderly man, who is very attentive at every table and ensures we are always well taken care of. Definitely deserves more than what it says on Yelp. Deserving of 555555 stars! Will always come back to support!

Kimberly W.

Yelp
It was okay. I used to come here when I worked nearby. Met up here recently with my old coworker to have lunch while he was visiting from out of state. Service is still good-- very efficient. But they changed several things-- ramen noodles are meh now (thinner and not as chewy), and the chicken karaage is huge slightly unmanageable chunks. Ramen itself wasn't as flavorful and the meat in their namesake ramen was disappointing.

Brant C.

Yelp
I came here on a lunch break with my coworker and was pretty happy with my experience. The ambiance is pretty basic, but they have a nice patio with outdoor seating. We came tword the end of lunch, so we were seated super quickly. I ordered the Dohotsuten with Tonkotsu broth. The bowl was absolutely loaded with meat and veggies. Most ramen places skimp on the meat, but they hook it up here with three different types of meats. And the stewed Toro pork was super tender and flavorful. Overall, the flavor of the broth was kinda average compared to a lot of the other spots in the area. Which might be good for those who are not trying to have a bunch of sodium. And they do have really good seasoning, and chilie oil at the table that was really good. So while it might not be the best bowl of ramen in the bay it is a great amount of food for a very decent price around 20$ after taxes. I would definitely check it out if you are hungry and want a big bowl of ramen.

Anita Z.

Yelp
This is my home kitchen. I go to this lovely Japanese ramen place every week; my go-to for comfort food. Their vegetarian ramen is super good. So is chicken karaage. As a matter of fact, every on the menu is good

Alix R.

Yelp
Met up with a friend at this sweet, humble ramen spot in Palo Alto. It's a good thing she said that the restaurant was "pretty unassuming from the front" because I otherwise would have missed it. Anyway, it was quite busy for a rainy Wednesday afternoon ~1.5 hours before closing. There was a waitlist but it looks like my friend and I got here at a good time. Overall, the ramen spot itself was very quaint and inviting. We sat indoors because of the rain, but it looks like there was some outdoor seating up front. For dinner, we shared the Hokkaido Pumpkin Croquette (YUM! Highly recommend). The pumpkin flavor was so strong and felt so comforting. I wish I knew how they were able to get the perfect crunch with such a soft, decadent sweet potato filling. For my entree, I got the Taro Pork Ramen with the tonkotsu broth plus some spicy minced garlic. I haven't had taro pork before, so I was pleasantly shocked at how sweet and tender the meat was. I'll probably opt for pork belly next time because I love salty overload, but I was very happy with my choice. I think next time, I'll choose the spicy miso broth. Always good leaving a ramen shop smelling like... well... ramen. Will have to come again to check out their other offerings.

Santiago A.

Yelp
Had a craving for ramen so we stopped by for dinner. We got a few appetizers including the sweet soy-glazed tofu, chicken karaage, and a few onigiri. The glaze on the tofu was so good, we found ourselves dipping the chicken karaage in it. My personal favorite was the yaki onigiri which had a crispy outside and a rich buttery flavor. The tapas were definitely our favorite part of our meal

Danit B.

Yelp
Can't believe I've never reviewed this STAPLE restaurant! We love their ramen. Is it Nagi? No. Is it solid? YES. The kids ramen is perfect for a good eater. The Dohatsuten tonkatsu is delish, and my standard order for the last 10 years. That said, I recently tried the Iron Yakimeshi with mentai and takana (dried anchovy and cod roe) and my life has never been the same. I've probably had it 2-3 times a month ever since. It's insanely good, and craving-worthy! We always order the edamame, fried calamari, and yaki onigiri too. *text friends- are we crispy rice tonight? Yes, yes we are*

Vivi B.

Yelp
Delicious broth. Spicy miso is maybe a 5 medium level spice. Chewy noodles. Very flavorful. Nice breezy patio. Neighborhood gem.

Mr P.

Yelp
Sizzling rice platter is a meal fit for king of comfort food! Service is excellent, less one, older lady.

Yelp
3/3.5 stars. Mom and I checked out Dohatsuten for the first time on Wednesday, November 23, 2022. I found them via Yelp search, but since it was the evening before Thanksgiving, I gave them a call to make sure that they were open. When the waitress answered the phone and I asked them if they were serving dinner that night, she replied, "Yes, we are open..." and immediately hung up. I tried to call back to find out what time they were closing, but my second ring was left unanswered. Upon arrival, Mom and I immediately recognized the restaurant which we have driven by so many times. Finally, we were about to try them out. The venue is like a small house that could probably host about seventy-five to eighty-five guests inside and possibly about forty more outside. There is a small parking lot for patrons and if you arrive sans reservations, the wait list is at the hostess podium for signing in. When we arrived, there was a family of four on the sign-in sheet before us. We probably waited between fifteen to twenty minutes to be seated. Not sure if they were short-staffed that night, but there were only two servers on the floor, so moving tables wasn't done in the most expeditious manner. In fact, our waitress, whom I speculate was the same person who answered the telephone when I called earlier, seemed overwhelmed by keeping up with everything. Her stress level didn't soothe until incoming traffic slowed down. As such, service was ok - not the best, but not the worst. We ordered a small hot sake to share and three food items: Pork Gyoza - Great flavour with a nice crisp. Asahi's Chashu Ramen with Tonkotsu Pork broth - Thumbs up from Mom. Vegetable Ramen with Tonkotsu Pork broth plus a Whole Soft Boiled Egg & Spicy Minced Pork - Good, but a little more variety in the veggies would have made for a better bowl. Perhaps trade the baby corn for spinach? The scoop of minced pork was also not much bigger than the Whole Soft Boiled Egg...and I would have loved a lot more broth. I usually like to order a curry dish with ramen, but after learning that Dohatsuten's Curry Don is served without curry sauce, I didn't order this Donburi. Our neighbours at the adjacent table told me that the Curry Don is a go-to/regular dish and is very tasty. I might need to try it if I return. Overall, B grade.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
This is a convenient ramen shop/izakaya to go to after a hike at the Baylands (Palo Alto). I've been here twice, and though I have not had the ramen, I have been pretty happy with what I have ordered. Most recently, I ordered *Hokkaido Pumpkin Croquette - highly recommend! *Agedashi Tofu - OK. There's a sticky layer that I haven't see elsewhere. (I recommend getting the Sweet Soy-Glazed Tofu instead, which is what I got last time.) *Dohatsuten Don - I was pleasantly surprised with some spice. Love that they have small and regular sizes. *Mango Cheesecake - Good. They were out last time, so I was happy to be able to get it this time. They have a small parking lot that can be tight to get in and out of. I'm not sure where I'd park if there were no spots. The restaurants fits more people than the parking lot can. The restrooms are outside of the restaurant and clean. The food and atmosphere makes me nostalgic for small family eateries in Japan.

Shaira S.

Yelp
Very small restaurant but still tasty food. It will feel a little cozy in the restaurant as there is only Limited seating. And although we Came when it was very busy (valentines day '!!) there was still such great customer service. 1 thing you should DEFINITELY ORDER is the CHICKEN KARAAGE!!! The price was worth every penny, such a great decent amount and amazingly big pieces. Not like other ramen restaurants with a 1-2 bite karaage. :)

Dong Wook C.

Yelp
Yummy ramen. Delicious tonkatsu broth. Really enjoyed the signature Dohatsuten ramen. It had plenty of toppings. Their chicken kaarage was pretty good also. Can't wait to come back and try their tsukamen. This place is small and busy. Luckily they have park bench seating outside as well.

Christina P.

Yelp
My cousin and I came here for lunch. We were seated quickly and they have a very nice outdoor patio with lots of tables. We ordered the agedashi tofu to start. It was good; it came with a lot of nice toppings along with the tofu itself. I wish there was a bit more. My cousin ordered the Asahi's Chasu Ramen with the pork broth. She said it was very delicious and the soft boiled egg was perfectly cooked. I ordered the clam and kimchee with the soy broth. It was quite good. Lots of noodles and veggies. There weren't that many clams so it wasn't too fishy and the kimchee was the perfect amount so it wasn't overwhelming. Overall, quite tasty! Our food came out very quickly and service was great. Will be back to try more of the appetizers - they had many hot and cold options.

Huskies C.

Yelp
Eww this place is gross the Ambiance is so small it takes forever for your food when the food came the Karage had no flavor but it works the minced pork with mayo on top was so good nice spicy garlic taste. And the service was so good This is why this place is the worst

Tang M.

Yelp
Onigiri with unagi: 1/5. Unagi was full of fish bones. Seaweed and rice was way too wet Ramen: 1/5. Overcooked egg, dry chashu, flavorless tonkatsu broth Beef tongue: 2/5. Ok flavor, nothing memorable Takoyaki: 3/5. Average Shrimp gyoza 3/5 Pickled veggie set 3/5

Yan N.

Yelp
We order two bowls of grilled unagi and chicken kabbage, ramen. Recommend unadon grilled eel rice bowl, ramen is good but average. Unadon is beyond average. Good for family and friends.

Aniket K.

Yelp
Great food. Ambience is quite modest. Prompt service. Portion sizes are quite large and 4 people would be better off splitting 3 entrees

Leahua P.

Yelp
Dude, I crave their Tonkatsu Signature Ramen all the time. I love the meats, the broth, noodles, toppings (especially the boiled egg) the flavors, seasoned so perfectly. The hot tapas are delish and perfect for sharing between two hungry adults such as my hubby and myself. We had the shrimp gyoza, Garlic Beef Miso Onigiri! The server is sweet and attentive. It's a busy little Gem, they have indoor and outdoor seating, we chose outside because it was a warmer evening when we chose to go around 6-7ish. Only thing I wish is if they had longer hours for dinner time and just FYI, they have parking but it is limited when it's busy. Could get a little cramped especially since it's located on a main road

Albert C.

Yelp
Growing up in the neighborhood but never tried this little place. I'm visiting my mom for the first time since the pandemic and wanted to finally try it. The service is fast and friendly. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It is on the busy San Antonio road, so it could be a bit noisy. The food, not only ramen is exceptionally good (There are six different soup bases to choose from) but also the rice dishes and tapas. I ordered the Unagi Yakimeshi (Eel crispy rice in an iron pot). I definitely recommend it if you're not in the mood for ramen. I would definitely return next time I'm in town to try other dishes.

Kamal K.

Yelp
Crispy rice not good at all. Basically over cook till a little burnt and dry. Not sure how that qualifies as a dish.

Diana D.

Yelp
I have been meaning to try this place since forever but long lines and wait times usually deterred me from trying them before. However, they have been managing their delivery and curbside pick up pretty well since Covid, so I finally decided to try their takeout. I ordered Takochan Takoyaki for appetizer which is basically deep fried Octopus mixed with flour. For entree we ordered Curry flavored beef Iron Yakimeshi and Spicy clam Ramen. Food is absolutely awesome. It was flavorful and delicious. My personal favorite was the Tapas and would try more of those when I order next. Food was neatly packed. For the ramen, the broth was packed separately which was nice. It did become lukewarm by the time we got home, so needed a bit of re-heating. I would recommend dining in if you are planning to get Ramen. Portions are huge and prices are quite reasonably. It did look like only 2 people were running the place, so please be patient, the food is worth the wait. If you are looking for great quality Japanese food, look no further, this place won't disappoint you.

Julie P.

Yelp
We went to this Ramen place today and order Karaage, fried rice ball and spicy ramen. We were next in line and were seating in 10 minutes. When the waitress bring us the Karaage, she was so distracted the one of the chicken fell off the plate but she didn't even notice. (We had a hard debate if we should apply the 5 second rule but we didn't). The Karaage was pretty good. The chicken was tasty but salty. The rice ball was deep fried so it tasted crunchy and chewy. It was pretty good. The spicy miso soup tasted like sauce instead of soup. It was extremely salty. I asked for a cup of hot water to dilute the soup to make it less salty but I never got the water. Overall it was a disappointing trip :(

Addison P.

Yelp
I had been here several years ago and decided to revisit. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and it was pretty busy. We got on the waitlist (10-15 min wait) and were then seated. We got the menus and probably waited 20 minutes for someone to take our order. Fair enough. We get the order in, and the waiter brings out some cups of water. We then proceeded to wait for an additional 50 minutes to get an appetizer and two bowls of vegetarian ramen. Zero communication, and never got refills on water or any follow up from the waiters. Then had to wait 15 minutes just to pay my bill. As frustrating as it was to wait for so long, it wasn't really the waiters fault. They are very understaffed and need more employees to help. Food itself was okay. Would not go here for ramen. Many other fantastic options in the area for the same price.

Emily W.

Yelp
I've been here probably over 5 times since it's one of the closest ramen spots to me. It's not the best ramen I've had, but it does fulfill the ramen craving. I usually do the Asahi's chashu ramen with tonkotsu broth, but this time I went with the taro pork ramen with tonkotsu broth since I wanted more fatty meat. It was pretty good and the noodles had an eggy taste which I liked. Meat is quite fatty if you're into it, and the non-fatty lean pieces were pretty tough to chew. Couldn't chew through some of the lean parts. Their chicken karaage is amazing though! I love the texture and batter. We also tried the sweet soy-glazed tofu, but found that we like their agedashi tofu more. They also forgot our half eggs in the ramen, but they gave us extra whole boiled eggs to take home when we mentioned it!

Caitlin L.

Yelp
Never had authentic ramen before and boy was I not disappointed. The meat was tender, the broth was delicious and it was quick service . There are also simple things on the menu for those not wanting to go out on a limb but I recommend doing it this one time!

MS S.

Yelp
I always like their papas. It's usually busy place so I have to avoid the peak time. Love the food and worth the wait.

Jasmine P.

Yelp
I've been here a few times as my partner likes this restaurant. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The service is quick and friendly. I find the ramen and other dishes here average. For the ramen, the ramen noodles and ingredients are average; they taste fine. My biggest issue is how salty the soup is. I have felt sick every time I eat here because of the high levels of salt, so we have not returned for a while now.

Susan K.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! While they are not as well-known as some of the more popular ramen chain, I find this place as the most slurp-worthy ramen spot in my neighborhood. Their food is always consistent and authentic. This time, I got the Dohatsuten Ramen, Asahi's Chashu Ramen, Taro Pork Ramen, and a side of Takochan's to go. Just expect a longer wait time if you go around the lunchtime rush hour for pick-up. Food was neatly packed. For ramen, the broth was packed separately so the noodles won't get soggy. On their menu, you have several options for the broth. I opted for Tonkotsu broth with less salt for Dohatsuten Ramen & Asahi's Chashu Ramen and soy broth with less salt for Taro Pork Ramen. For appetizer, we got takoyaki, a Japanese street snack that originated in the city of Osaka. They were slightly crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside, stuffed with little nuggets of octopus, bonito flakes, donori seaweed, and wasabi aioli. The food portions were pretty generous for the price. Everything was crafted with attention to detail, with the thin ramen noodles soaking up the savory Tonkotsu broth. The highlight of the meal was the chashu pork-- it was melt in your mouth tender and the perfect accompaniment to the ramen. Simply delicious.

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Overall, a solid ramen place that I would come back to again, but at the same time nothing super special and innovative; just simple and good food. The Chicken Karaage was pretty standard but hit all the checkboxes for a good fried chicken: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Asahi's Kurobuta Chashu Ramen with Tonkotsu Pork Broth was pretty tasty and comparable to many other ramen places around the area. The ramen noodles were the thin kind but still had a great texture and chew to them without being overcooked. The broth and toppings like the Chashu were not anything too special but still delicious and deep with flavor.

Yelp
Best Ramen experience in the Bay Area! It's not a fancy restaurant but omg you should try the Ramen! Waiting time about half an hour but totally worth it!

Yelp
The place was small but quite cozy. I ordered the curry beef and I love it served in the sizzling clay pot. There's a raw egg on top and you need to stir it into the rest of the dish. The eggplants and beef were very flavorful, not the traditional saucy kind of curry but I like it this way.

Yelp
Great ramen spot if you don't want to wait in line at Ramen nagi, well... it's not that close to each other, but usually in a shorter wait. They always had outdoor seating so they had continue outdoor seating for the customers, no problem. I went a few days ago and the waiter recommended me to order through the QR code on the table. The QR code is unique to the table so don't worry about the waiter loosing your order. In the website you will pay upfront too so you can't just take off when you finished your ramen. Pretty cool idea, rarely see that in US but popular in asia.

Yelp
This restaurant is near my work and I've driven by it before and saw a long line. I finally got to try it tonight and I understand why there were long lines whenever I drove by it. The food was amazing! The agedashi tofu was very flavorful. Chicken karaage was also delicious and still hot when it was taken to our table. The curry beef yakimeshi was the star of the show! Devoured every bite! The server was also pleasant and repeated our orders to make sure he got it right. Im excited to come back to try their other food!

Yelp
Dohatsuten is 5 minutes away from my work and I wanted to try their food since Japanese cuisines are one of my favorites. I ordered takeout online hoping that it would've been done by the time I arrived but that was not the case. It took about an extra 25 minutes for my food to be finished even after waiting 30 minutes previously. It wasn't as busy when I came but shortly after it started to pick up. I could tell that the server was getting a little overwhelmed because she was the only one serving. Since they were understaffed and busy, I was okay with waiting. I was just a little irritated that they said my food was done but it wasn't. I ordered a small gyu don and added sprouts, green onions for an additional 0.50¢ and $1.00 for a poached egg. It was decent. Here's a short breakdown: Taste: 7.5/10 The meat was thinly sliced and flavorful. I also really enjoyed mixing the poached egg into my gyu don. I thought it was also really neat how they separated the poached egg into a different container so it wouldn't spill. Portion: 10/10 The portion size was more than enough for me. I actually ended up not finishing my food since I was so full after devouring half the box. Price: I paid $11 (including tax + tip). It's an awesome price for what you get. Would I recommend this place? To answer that: I'm not sure. But I would definitely come back and try more things. Ill settle to give them 3 stars since it wasn't the most amazing experience. Hoping to come back with a new experience to share with you all

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Silicon Valley. The Yaki Onigiri is my all-time favorite thing on the menu and in life. Scrumptous . And their Ramen is to die for too. A++ .

Yelp
This place has outdoor and indoor seating. There Ramen there is mediocre still decent but it's not my best Ramen. Eel onigri was pretty good! I always order black garlic oil they do not have it here so if you are expecting some type of Ramen like that this will not be the place. There was only one person that was serving everyone at that time. We also try the chicken Karaage and the calamari It was pretty good!

Yelp
Service: 5/5 Taste: 4/5 Ambiance: Casual Value: 5/5 I ordered the Spicy Miso ramen and for the taste and amount of meat/toppings they give, it's well worth the price. It's better than Ramen Nagi imo and it always has lines. The taste is also good (I'm no ramen broth connoisseur). The 5 star is for the value you get here. I haven't seen Grilled Unagi with this taste at this price anywhere else. Would definitely come again

Yelp
Yet another restaurant that is no longer under the original owners. This place used to be pretty good, but since it was sold by the original owners to the employees, it has gone down a very steep hill, careening into a mere shell of what it used to be. I ordered take out a while back & the food was absolutely horrible. I will admit that I am very particular when it comes to ramen & any Japanese food, but come on! This new version of the restaurant is quite possibly the worst Japanese food I've ever eaten.
