Where to Enjoy an Elegant Afternoon Tea in Portland

"With a view of Tualatin’s man-made lake, parties sit down to tea and treats in this plant-filled tea shop. Doja’s team bakes perfectly flaky buttermilk scones daily, serving them with a traditional clotted cream that takes over 24 hours to make. The lounge serves seasonal menus, with sweet and savory bites like smoked duck and sweet potato canapes or cherry-pistachio roulade. Guests can choose from an extensive tea menu of 50 teas, but the tea room provides a convenient shortlist of recommended teas that pair best with the current food menu." - Janey Wong

Where to Find Mesmerizing Matcha Treats in Portland and Beyond - Eater Portland

"With a spot right on the Tualatin lake, the space around Doja has a serene ambiance full of cute animals and cheery strollers enjoying the lake. While Doja was mainly serving up matcha ice cream during the summer, the colder days have shifted the seasonal offering to Japanese fish-shaped pastries called taiyaki. While the taiyaki come with many different fillings, the creamy matcha custard is the pinnacle. Patrons hoping for something a little bit more on the cake side can also pick-up an adorable pint-sized matcha tiramisu. Doja Tea Lounge is currently open for takeout everyday starting at 11:30am." - Seiji Nanbu

Impressive afternoon tea service with just the right amount of frills. It was well priced for the attention to detail. Patrick was an expert and a pleasure! The menu offered a large tea selection for every palate but a companion smaller cultivated list for analysis paralysis. The food choices were perfect for a tea service menu but offered unique takes on flavor profiles without straying from the traditional. The house made clotted cream, lemon curd, and Omija jam are honestly incredible. There was a good amount of food presented, I skipped breakfast and lunch and was quite hungry but left pleasantly full. The soundtrack was cute and thoughtful. We had a beautiful table that overlooked the water feature and the RC sailboat regatta group for an adorable atmosphere. Patrick deserves a second shout, he was so knowledgeable and his professional expertise really elevated the experience. I appreciated his gentle approach guiding us, and guests around us, to their optimal tea selections. We were able to get a half dozen scones and accompaniments to go. Very well portioned!! They offered both fresh baked and bake at home options. If you fall for a tea blend they also offer those for sale. I have been to dozens of tea services coast to coast as a hobby and DOJA tea lounge left a fresh and comforting impression and I can’t wait to make it a regular stop every time we drive into the city.

This is a fantastic and unique high tea experience. Getting seated wasn’t super smooth, but we sat outside which was lovely. It is hard to find so give yourself some extra time. We parked by the grange and walked to the left to find it. The food was very high quality and yummy! It’s a more unique/different menu than other high teas. I didn’t love everything because a couple items had a spice or something I didn’t like, but overall it was great. I would definitely recommend. It’s also a little more expensive than other high teas at $48 per person.

My friend and I share the same birthday, and she treated me to Doja Tea Lounge to celebrate. It was my first time there, and I was impressed with the décor—the room was beautifully set up, and the entrance and lobby had a charming theme. The service at the entrance was prompt, and they explained the process to us since it was our first visit. I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection of teas, and the ones we chose were enjoyable. However, I was quite disappointed with the quantity and quality of the food included in the $66 per person price. The food felt subpar, and given the cost, I would have expected something more thoughtful—perhaps even a drink like a mimosa, especially since it was brunch time. Another issue was that while registering, we indicated that we were celebrating birthdays. The receptionist mentioned there would be something special at the table, but this was completely missed. To add to the disappointment, when we were checking out, we noticed another guest celebrating a birthday receiving a special treat. When I inquired about this, the staff explained it was due to a system error. While mistakes happen, I would have expected good customer service to promptly address the oversight, especially when we brought it up. Additionally, we noticed some inconsistencies in the food service. For instance, another table in the same room received an extra celery item on their plates, which we didn’t get. It made us feel like there was preferential treatment, which felt unfair considering everyone was paying the same price. Overall, while the ambiance and tea selection were great, the food quality, lack of attention to special requests, and inconsistencies in service left us disappointed. At $66 per person, I would have expected much better. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t return.

Amazing tea and treats to go along. I came here with my little sister and mother to celebrate my sister’s birthday and I was happy to see her smiling and having fun the entire time. She was fascinated with the teas sets and loved the tea. She was also very much fan of the food. I as well loved the tea and food. Overall was a Good experience and will return.

Tara took very good care of us. The food items we received were delicious! The presentation was pleasing and elegant! They have an extensive choice of tea! You are given two hours to consume your delicacies so you can take your time.

My daughter (10yrs old) and I just had Holiday Tea this afternoon My experience was sadly disappointing which is why I gave a review of 3 stars. We've had afternoon tea before in London and the experiences were completely different. In London your food tier is unlimited, love one type of sandwich, quiche, or pastry and want more sure no problem. Doja charges you for an additional xtra item, that I wasn't expecting. My daughter had the child menu so her savory items were 1 pig in a blanket and a small square cut of pizza both of which was hard so she didn't eat either and asked for an extra ham & cheese sandwich. An additional $2.50 for a finger size sandwich! I asked for another scone and was told it would be $2.50 for an extra one, I passed. When you're paying $70 an extra scone should be complimentary. My daughter ordered hot chocolate instead of tea which I thought was yummy but the hot chocolate does have a rich dark chocolatey taste so if your child likes simple hot cocoa just be aware. Doja Tea lounge is a cute little spot and the variety of tea choices is plentiful I just wish the price was less or you have unlimited treats to eat at no additional cost.

Lovely! Delicious menu, including for vegetarians. The Genmaicha was toasty and flavorful. Nice light atmosphere and kind staff. Even view of lake with ducks. We especially enjoyed the veggie tea sandwiches, biscuits with toppings, and pudding dessert.

Oh my goodness this place is spectacular. My daughter and I went with friends to high tea. We had the fall menu and everything was amazing. The apple chiffon cake was so delicious and moist. The scone with clotted cream, jam and lemon curd was divine!! There is nothing that I did not like. I could go on and on. The tea was great. I got a tropical papaya/mango black tea. The service was excellent. The gal that helped us was really sweet and checked on us often. Overall a MUST. Can’t wait to go again.

Yelp
My wife has been to DOJA Tea Lounge for the afternoon tea -- alas, as an outing with her friends without me, so I hadn't been here yet. But the owners invited us to sit for the grand opening of the 4 course prix fixe dinner menu in late March. As a starting observation, the logistics of getting here and parking are easy! DOJA is located in Tualatin Commons, where there is ample parking including a garage with covered spaces. The restaurant looks out at the small lake in the middle of the Commons and is a very relaxing atmosphere. I've attached pictures of the menu and the items we tried. The starting appetizers were perfectly sized -- delicious and leaving ready for the next item. There was a lightly fried maitake (mushroom) that was so airy; salmon tartare on cucumber that is a nice mix of savory with watery crunch; and chicken liver mousse on crostini that was the right level of mildness to allow the flavor to come through on its own. Next was the salad. The field greens were (we learned from the owners) freshly harvested from a local farm. I like vinaigrette dressing as it is, but what this salad stand out were the sunflower seeds and the watermelon radish. I've never heard of watermelon radish, but it looks cool and here it was thin slices that were crisped to add texture to the salad. Then came the entrees. I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the salmon, but we shared so that we got to try both. I rarely eat steak these days, but I do remember how medium rare steak can really hit the spot. This steak might have verged on rare, and it was wonderful. Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly. As for the salmon, which I love, I find that many places overcook it to where it is a bit tough. Not so here. Somehow the chef was able to prepare it so that the meat was tender while the skin was crispy. This is the way salmon should be prepared! Finally, the dessert was a great way to finish the meal with a combination of the dark chocolate cake, the sweet caramel sauce, and the sweet/tart charred citrus fruit slices. There were suggested wine taste pairings for each of the courses, but we don't drink alcohol, so they offered us tea. And since this is a tea lounge, there were plenty of selections. Overall, it was a relaxing ambience, and because it wasn't that busy, one of the owners (who was bringing the dishes out and clearing the used plates) spent time chatting with us about their business and future plans. They're nice people with an interesting story. This is definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
What a lovely way to spend the afternoon to celebrate a belated Mother's Day. To start off, it was a beautiful sunny May day and the views of the lake were gorgeous. We had a reservation for 4 at noon and they sat us promptly at our table. The tables setting was adorable with each of us with our own pattern of china, a copy of the tea service and silver tea warming set. I believe there were over 53 teas to choose from - we ordered the island paradise, sweet almond, cocoa deluxe and caramel ambrosia. We asked for milk and sugar (it was a warm brown color, very rustic presentation). We waited for the tea to steep and were served our food quickly thereafter. Everything was delicious but the stand out favorites for the table were: the miso salmon rillette sandwich, cherry shortbread, scone with the clotted cream, lemon curd and jelly, raspberry lychee macaron, and lime carrot cake. The not so favorites were the mint pesto cucumber sandwich, the passion fruit tartlet and mochi muffin. They refilled out pots a second time with hot water and staff was super attentive. Each of us loved our tea selections! We had a two hour time slot and it was more than enough time to enjoy the tea service. There was a great photo op wall in one of the smaller rooms (different china plates as a background) and the design aesthetic read high tea in some areas. A few years ago it was a boba shop and it still has some remains of that decor and signage - they should fully commit to the tea vibe because it would be stunning if they did. Also it would be great if the staff had a little nicer uniform or dress code as the one that sat us wore a worn hoody. I don't expect formal dress or anything but business casual shirt and/or professional apron would've done the trick.

Yelp
Such a cute and fun place to have some tea. My friend booked an appointment at opening (for 5) and we were seated right away. She had booked a gluten free menu for me. There was no one else inside. The server immediately came over and introduced what teas were being offered on the menu. There was a wide variety and I got the oolong tea. It was milky and creamy (by nature). You can get cream and sugar if you want. There was constant hot water refills just because it was so great on a cold fall morning. I wish I took a picture of the setup but I was just so excited that they prepared a completely gluten free menu for me. Just like the other neatly, tiered snacks, there was also the same for me. I was thrilled to see a place like this offer gluten free options for me. The snacks were endless and we weren't able to eat all of them. They even had a gluten free scone and toast. I felt very included because you wouldn't normally find a place like this. For all the gluten free people, come here! I would definitely come back here again. It was a great experience :)

Yelp
We had a family gathering in Portland, and all the sisters and our mom decided to have an afternoon tea time! Our sister found DOJA Tea Lounge and we were all interested in the Asian-inspired flavors sprinkled into the menu. They rotate menus seasonally, so be sure to check out what they have in store! - PARKING - There's a parking lot across the pond - just beware of any limited-time spaces! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - We had a reservation right when they opened at 11am, and were promptly seated once we walked in. They have an extensive menu of teas to choose from, but you're only allowed to pick one and are unable to switch it out. Luckily since we had 4 of us, we all picked something different and were able to share that way. After they received our tea orders, they prepared the tiered bites and we were served shortly after. There's private rooms available, one of which was being used for a baby shower! The rest of the business is quite small, fitting only a few 2 or 4 person tables inside. - FOOD/DRINK - The teas were quite nice, and they made sure we waited 2 minutes for the tea to properly steep with a timer. They do come around with hot water in case you need a refill! There were a few things that stood out to me, a few things that were just OK, and one or two things that weren't the best. I really enjoyed the tea sandwiches - all of them had a unique flavor profile! I also liked their Choux Puff, which was very light and airy. The scones were just OK as it was very hard on the outside, but the clotted cream and curd made it better. I also felt the mini cakes were a hit or miss depending on the flavor. The Red Wine Pear Panna Cotta was my least favorite thing as the pear was soaked in red wine and was overwhelming. It was hard to get over that flavor to enjoy the rest of the dessert. - OVERALL - A nice way to enjoy an afternoon with your girlfriends, sisters, or other family members. I would definitely check their menu to see if there's anything you're interested in first, so you know what you're getting yourself into!

Yelp
First tier. Mint pesto cucumber & radish tea sandwich was not good. Start with this one so your mouth gets cleaned with yummier food. Lemon myrtle chicken salad good. Miso salmon rillette was my favorite. It was sooo good. Herbed shrimp canapé, black truffle profiterole and the bak kwa sausage roll were all good. I liked the sausage roll the most of the three. Second tier. Scone with clotted cream, jelly and lemon curd. Jelly was the best to pair with scone. The scone was still warm, flaky and moist. Goji berry shortbread was okay. So was the raspberry lychee rose macaron. Took me by surprise because there was barely any filling. Third tier. Strawberry and champagne mousse cup was good but it felt too runny. Cherry blossom chèvre cheesecake was not good. I took a bite and didn't finish it. Same with the like chamomile cake. It was too sour for my taste. Overall, would visit again. Ambience is nice and decor is really pretty. They don't allow you to change the tea so pick a good choice. There's a 2 hour limit but we ate it all in like 30 minutes if not less. It was just the two of us.

Yelp
Like other reviewers, my friend and I had never had high tea. There aren't many places in WA that offer it. We wrote to all the places we could find in and 100 mile radius to ask if they would accommodate our food allergies for high tea. We had several allergies and correctly assumed this would be a barrier to us finding a place. Doja got back to us the same day and was more than willing to accommodate and even sent us the adjustment they purposed. Two other places got back to us made it seem like it was an imposition and one said they'd charge us an additional fee to change anything on their menu. So, Doja it was. We had issues finding it. It's very invisible from the road and out GPS took us to some fancy houses. You have to go through a parking garage and down stairs by Key bank to find it. Once you do it opens up on a massive lake with lots of wildlife, very picturesque. The windows from your table let you enjoy this serene scenery as you take your time with epic meal. When we were seated we were given a menu, which confused me for a minute because I thought the meal was already agreed upon. I realized moments later that it was an extensive tea menu. Each person gets their own pot of tea and hence, gets to choose their flavor. They will keep refilling your teapot throughout your meal and each time they do, your tea will have a slightly different flavor. I realize that doesn't seem likely but it totally happens. As far as the food. Everything was incredible. If there was a baby false note I would say it was the Brazilian cheese biscuits. The texture was great, they were just a bit salty. That being said, they were still lovely. I think our favorite was the portabello mushroom sandwiches and Irish vanilla scones. I really loved the intense flavors of the elcair and the shortbread. Basically, their food is divine and you will leave completely satisfied. Their service was perfect. The person that attended us was absolutely fabulous. She even turned down the music for us which was beautiful but a touch too loud for my sensitive ears. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Yelp
I am visiting my daughter in Oregon, we love afternoon teas and we got excited to try DOJA. From the savory section: I enjoyed Shrimp canapé and Miso salmon rillette. From the sweet side I liked the scone with lemon curd. And Strawberry champagne mousse I chose the English breakfast and my daughter chose the Jasmine green tea. But the service was slow in that although we had a reservation at 2 pm, it took a while to place our tea order and goodies did not arrive till after 2:30. As far as ambiance: to me it felt unfinished.

Yelp
Excellent service | Great menu variety | Lovely atmosphere I'm so happy we chose to come here and treat my mom to high tea for her birthday. We all left very full and happy. I booked an appointment online with no problems. Quick and easy and the business had excellent communication throughout before the day we showed up. Initially, I booked for 1 regular, 1 kid, 1 dairy-free, and 1 gluten-free menu. There were four of us in total. I am the only one that has food allergies: dairy, eggs, gluten, wheat, oat, almonds, blueberries, kiwi, peaches, brown rice, beef, black tea, and coffee bean... (Super unfortunate!) Honestly, I was really nervous wondering if they were able to accommodate my list of allergies, but wow, they did it! The morning of, I got a call from the owner who asked if I'd like to change my booking to accommodate 1 kid, 2 regular, and 1 allergy menu. Perfect! The interior is calming with lots of plants and beautiful tables and tea sets. We had the whole place to ourselves during our lunch appointment. They have a menu with a lot of different teas to choose from. I picked the tropical eden (green) tea off of the recommended tea list. Mmm, light and floral tasting. My 5yr old enjoyed her own drink, OJ. We were the first to try their new spring 2023 menu :) Kid menu (under 12): scone w/clotted cream, jelly & lemon curd cheddar gougeres bak kwa sausage roll chicken salad slider -- speculoos banana sandwich goji berry shortbread cookie -- lime coconut mousse cup strawberry tartlet -- Drinks available: OJ, hibiscus lemon soda, hot cocoa, Tisane (red nectar, ruby nectar, meadow) **My picky 5yr old LOVED everything minus the chicken salad slider. My mom and husband both LOVED it but it was a little too much for a kid's palette. I'm excited to see what they continue to do for this menu. ALLERGY menu (dairy, eggs, oat/wheat/gluten...see above) strawberry shrimp ceviche mint pesto cucumber black truffle 'egg' bite lemon myrtle cauliflower salad sandwich miso mushroom rillette sandwich (2) -- strawberry balsamic truffle passionfruit meringues -- cranberry orange mousse lime coconut mousse cup **I loved everything I had on my menu. Nothing was overpowering. I really enjoyed the miso mushroom sandwich - yum! I could eat more of the ceviche, it's so good! The fruit treats are light and delicious. We met the owner, Steve, who is the friendliest person! I am so thankful they are here and continue to make the business better. You can tell they take pride in their business and serve you with a wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our high tea and already booked our next appointment for the following weekend. Note: they book up fast for Mother's Day, like a couple months out.

Yelp
I love this cafe so much. They've changed their concept a few times since opening but I haven't been back since they changed to the afternoon tea service. We came to celebrate my mom's birthday and ordered an afternoon tea service set for us. It's great that they accommodate for dietary restrictions or needs, so I chose the dairy free menu for myself (they have gluten-free, allergy, and vegetarian/vegan options as well). I love that the menus are a great fusion of classic tea time food with Asian flavors incorporated. The interior of the cafe is very classy and romantic with many plants decorating the space. The server was super friendly and helpful in explaining the menu to us. The stand outs from the menu were the Herbed Shrimp Canapé, Miso Salmon Rillette Sandwich, Mint & Pesto Cucumber and Radish Sandwich, the Vegan Scone with the seasonal Omija Tea Jelly, and the Strawberry Balsamic Trifle. We enjoyed the sandwiches so much that we ended up ordering more. The jelly was so delicious that we also took the rest home to enjoy later. I seriously cannot recommend this place enough. If you are looking for a place to sip some tea and relax with a light afternoon meal, this is the place for you.

Yelp
I've never had high tea before and my friend really wanted to try this place out for her birthday. This place was extremely confusing to find but if you just head toward the water, you'll find it near the bridge! The staff was very friendly and accommodating since we were about 15 minutes late from getting lost. The place itself was very cute with tea themed decor like rows of plates on the wall and lots of plants.

Yelp
For my last meal in Portland, Oregon, we got afternoon tea at DOJA, and it was totally worth it! We made an appointment online in advance for a regular afternoon tea set ($48). They also offer a vegetarian option. We each got to choose one selection of tea of a list of 50+ to go along with our preset food selection. I chose a rose tea while my partner chose the genmaicha. You get a candlelight to keep your tea warm throughout your time there. We really enjoyed the savory bites, especially the hand pie. The sandwiches were OK. The sweets were also great, especially the matcha red bean Mont Blanc. I was going to dock a star for underbaked scones that we received, but they quickly remade new ones for us and even packed them to go when we reported it, so they get the star back for the service. It was a lot of food and we felt very full after (even without the scones!) DOJA is located in a beautiful waterfront location. There is parking, but finding the restaurant can be a bit of a struggle as maps leads you into an apartment complex. Look for the fountain!

Yelp
My mom friend and I had such a fun and pleasant first afternoon tea experience with our daughters here! The girls really enjoyed it and one of them especially loved the clotted cream lol This cafe is located on the lake but they do have helpful instructions on parking on their website and the confirmation email. We still had trouble finding it but the staff were so helpful when I called for help! The lake is beautiful and filled with ducks so I can see how nice it would be to enjoy tea time here in the summer. We got the regular tea set but they have many accommodations (for a little extra) including gluten free, dairy free, etc for all to enjoy. For $48/person (the kiddos were not charged and were able to enjoy all the goodies too!) you get your own tea pot, they have lots of suggestions to go with the food they serve and a very extensive tea list for you to choose from. Time limit of 2 hours. We especially enjoyed the hibiscus fruity tea. I wish I took more pictures of the inside - they had a rack full of beautiful tea china sets, a plant wall, and loose teas for sale as well. This is a perfect afternoon outing with friends, mother-daughter fun, and just to experience something relaxing and new!

Yelp
We had a reservation and the staff was very accommodating while we were trying to locate the place! It is a bit hidden but there is plenty of parking surrounding the area. The interior is very modern with decor and many plants. Loved the large windows to look out at the Tualatin Lake at the Commons! The music playing was classic, peaceful, and not offensive during the afternoon tea service. There was a nice selection and blends of teas. There was a tea light to keep the teapot warm but the staff also walked over and added more hot water if requested. Milk and sugar were also offered to accompany the tea. Most of the items on the menu were quite scrumptious! I applaud that they incorporate a fusion of flavors that are not commonly found in a traditional afternoon tea experience and the menu followed the citrus theme well. While they do provide a nice variety of items on the afternoon tea menu, the price for the actual amount of food is quite high. I wish they had more items a la carte in their display up front so we could purchase our favorite items from the menu.

Yelp
===TL;DR=== - Afternoon high tea service $48/ pp + 20% mandatory gratuity - I pot of tea per person ===TMI=== Super sweet and attentive staffs. Emailed for a reservation since previously, they didn't have the option for 10+ people. Communication was smooth with quick responses - they even made sure to ask if anyone had food allergies. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate us on a Thursday - very kind of them to take us in on a weekday that they don't typically open. We had the whole indoor space to ourselves like a private event. A lot of parking spaces available. What's cool was they're also right next to a lake! Gorgeous location. Love the interior ambiance and everyone had different sets of porcelain plates, teacup sets. The 3-tier bite sized food were delicious. Great selection of teas to try out (didn't take a photo of their book of tea), highly recommend venturing out to their extensive menu! Their menu is seasonal so feel free to check their website to see what their current menus are. I would say don't let the cover deceive you and try every item at least once!

Yelp
We enjoyed a perfect relaxing afternoon for our Mother-Daughter tea date. Last week was pretty hectic so we postponed our Mother's Day annual tea date. I enjoyed the sweet almond tea and mom had the midnight kisses tea. We tried a a variety of finger sandwiches that accompany the tea. Tasty desserts and a scone with clotted cream and lemon curd. Not super fancy and very comfortable. Super friendly service. Easy to make reservations online.

Yelp
Gluten free review: Have you ever heard of Doja tea? It's this fancy little spot that's perfect for getting your bougie on! I mean, c'mon, who doesn't like feeling fancy every once in a while? The best part is, their service is top-notch! They were so kind and accommodating when it came to allergies. At our table, we had gluten-free, dairy-free, and regular options, and they made sure to keep everything separate on the tray and explained the tray to us. And the food? Oh my goodness, it was yum! I posted all three menus just so you can see what kind of options they have, but trust me, it's all delicious (so I heard)! And the best part, I had no reactions! Make sure to make a reservation. There's parking in a little garage (free). You'll find doja tea in a little plaza area next to a little lake. Grab your fancy hats and go try Doja Tea.

Yelp
The experience was acceptable, service was fine, but the food was not tasty. Bland sandwiches and over-sweet desserts. Tea was the best part of the meal. It was a disappointment as I expected better from the reviews by others. We won't go back again.

Yelp
What an excellent experience hidden in the commons! This establishment features fantastic, attentive customer service, flavorful and beautiful food, and a wide variety of quality tea. The black truffle profiterole was hands down my favorite food item. I melted into my chair when I bit into this creamy, fluffy, flaky puff! The moist, soft, tender scones were a very close second. Add that to the fact that we got to sit in the plant room?? That's talkin' my language!

Yelp
This review is for the afternoon tea service. The selection of teas they offer is expansive so you'll definitely find a tea that fits what you're looking for. The sweet almond tea was one of the recommended teas so we tried that and an oolong tea and both were pretty good. The tea service we got was the citrus menu. I felt like all the finger sandwiches were decent and it's cool that they use Oyatsupan bread for the sandwiches. I found the garlic roast beef to be really cheap feeling but that's because I really don't like deli roast beef at all and the garlic spread was kind of off putting surprisingly considering I love garlic. Also my sandwich had 4 slices of roast beef while my husbands only had two so they were not consistent. The curry pinwheel had great spice and good flavors. Now onto the rest of the items which bring my rating down. They ran out of lemon curd which is kind of ridiculous to me. How do you run out of lemon curd when you know how many people you're serving. So we had no lemon curd which is my go to topping to put on my scones when I have tea service. The clotted cream was refrigerated and just as hard as refrigerated butter so it was completely non-spreadable. I've never been to a tea service before where the clotted cream is rock solid. So that left the citrus marmalade which I did not like the taste of so I didn't even eat half the scone. The two small cookies with the scone were forgettable and it would be better to just do two scones each like most afternoon teas. With that said the scone served was not amazing, it was overly dense and floury even when considering it's a scone. The desserts on top were ok. The lemon bar was good but it's just a lemon bar. The kumquat peppercorn eclair was good but the flavors are pretty mild. And the blood orange mango tartlet tasted like neither of those things and the tartlet cup must be store made because it was gross. I left in a pretty off mood from this tea service and hurried to leave as soon as I could finish the tea. The price of this afternoon tea is the going rate that I've seen in other states at $50 however this was the least favorite one I've been to both in taste and because I've never been to an afternoon tea where I haven't been served lemon curd and was served inedible clotted cream. Aside from the food the set up is not the peaceful, quiet, serene set up I'm used to with afternoon teas but I could have easily not cared about that if everything else was in order. Instead it just added to the already not amazing experience.

Yelp
I'm sorry..and maybe an unpopular opinion here, but I find it absolutely absurd that their afternoon tea menu specifies an automatic 20% "service charge in leu of tips". If I go out to tea with a +1, that's a forced $22 tip. After already spending $110 for the sip & bite, I believe I should be able to calculate my own tip based on quality of service. I find it completely unfair how tip heavy our culture has become here...it's become a burden on the customer when the cost of everything is already so much higher all around us. As a connoisseur of tea, a big fan of high tea, this is unfortunately one less option in the area. Thankfully other great tea options in the area do not do this! Most restaurants have a gratuity charge if your reservation is a certain size...okay, sure. But to just force tips here?? and at a high 20% ?! No thanks.

Yelp
A lovely little place tucked on the lake with full pots of tea and nice array of desserts and treats. We shared a crepe cake slice that was such a rainbow feast for the eyes, although I had wished there was slightly more flavor to it. Our shared pot of tea was impeccable. I truly enjoyed being able to sit in the window with my daughter and chat for hours. The kind employee checked in on us a couple times to make sure we had everything we needed. My daughter has been back many times.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, this spot is perfection. From the view to the serveware to the delicate and attentive balance of flavors in both sweet and savory treats, you can't go wrong. The chef is a master. When asked by our server what our favorite bite was, it was impossible to pick one. The menu changes seasonally, so what a great excuse to visit as often as possible.

Yelp
Been here twice and both times were delicious. Enjoy the rotating seasonal menu, it makes it fun to come back and try a whole new menu of food. Tried a seasonal drink this time which was tasty as well. Adorable decor and comfortably spaced out tables make for a nice date or tea spot with friends. There's a kids option we're planning to bring the kids back for someday too, and a gluten free friend appreciated the GF menu option.

Yelp
If you enjoy quality tea and elevated sweet and savory tea snacks, then I would definitely recommend coming in for Doja's afternoon tea service. The location of the lounge is a lovely corner spot along Tualatin Lake at the Commons. When the weather is nice, the venue is particularly enjoyable to look out the large windows and see the sun's reflection on the lake while ducks leisurely make their jaunts around the water. When it comes to tea, they don't mess around... the menu is BIG. Like, 40-50 different kinds, kind of big. And many are directly imported from the source for quality. The tea menu is a great blend of traditional teas with creative blends as well. With that breadth of choice, there are many good ones with some standouts in the Dragonwell, White Peony, High Mountain Oolong and Ti Kwan Yin. A couple of months ago, I tried their first tea service menu centered on citrus and that one was pretty good... but their current floral flavor inspirations were surprisingly even better. Everything was really tasty with the complexity and balance of flavors and textures improving from the first menu iteration. My top three favorites were the red bean cherry blossom eclair (light and bright cream), jasmine choux au craquelin (wonderful jasmine infused light cream) and miso salmon rillette sandwich (which I almost literally inhaled... just YUM). Honorable mention goes to... everything else. They were all quite delicious! Tea and dessert are two of my absolute favorite things to consume in the world, so having a lovely establishment that gives me a quality fix of both is like setting a table full of presents in front me. This is such a nice, bright spot in a sea of culinary sameness. I thoroughly appreciate the complexity, creativity and execution of Doja's menu... and look forward to whatever new flavors they have in store for the future.

Yelp
Such a cute afternoon tea experience. We made a reservation a week in advanced. Their online booking said they couldn't accommodate our party size of 5. But I ended up calling them and they had a slot towards their last tea set up, which is 4pm. They allow you 2 hours max- and they are really on it with this. This is to allow ample time for them to clean and set up for the next party coming in. We ended up using the 2 hours because we weren't able to be seated till all of our party was there, which was about 15 min after our reservation time. Our tea came out first and then the tasting tower afterwards, which took about 20-25 minutes. The 2 hours isn't too bad. Since we had a lot of keep us busy. Locating this area is pretty tricky. There's a parking lot where G-Man Brewery is. Be sure you read the signs. It's a shared lot with the residences and some have different parking times. You can also park in the parking garage. It's labeled "Doja tea house." Then walk towards the water and you'll find their sign :) The staff are accommodating and welcoming. They do require your entire party to be present in order to seat you. There's 2 party rooms and one main area where you entire. When you're seated- they give you the tea menu which is massive! We ended up getting different teas so we can try each one for the next time we return. We enjoyed the Kyoto blossom, jasmine, and I think it was called red ruby? Their afternoon tea tower was really fun and actually filled us up. We worked from bottom up. We loved their earl grey madeleine and all the other goodies. I placed this at a 4 star since it was my first experience at this location. I would love to return and try other menu items in the future :)

Yelp
First time for afternoon tea and my friend easily reserved online, with a reminder a day or two before. Shown to our table and the food menu was on the table. We were given the tea menu (plenty of options to choose from) and told everyone gets their own pot tea with water refilled. Milk (oat milk option available) and rock sugar given if you need. A timer for the tea to steep as well. The tower of goods came out with the smell of the warm scone enticing us. The food was great, good in size and we left full. Had to take home some of the desserts on the top tier we did not get to. Enjoyed that there was lots of different flavors for the items- savory and sweet, flavors were not bland or overpowering. The scone was still warm when we got to it after out sandwiches, so good on its own! The clotted cream, jam, and lemon curd work so well with the scone. Staff was in and out to check in a couple times, or we would catch them as they helped another table. There does seem to be a main tea area with multiple small tables and large tables. Then an extended side area for private large groups and two restrooms available in total (one near the front entrance and one near the private side room). Do want to come back as the seasonal menu changes and have a fun, relaxing time!

Yelp
We came into Doja tea lounge for an 1:30 pm afternoon tea reservation. We were greeted and brought to the back room which was quickly filled by the other parties. I liked all the windows because it meant we could entertain ourselves watching the kids making tik tok videos outside, ha! The tea list here is long - it was hard but fun to narrow it down to the teas we wanted to try. We also got mimosas because, why not? The food was brought out in the three tier trays and was focused on strawberries. It was a lovely spread - the sweets were all quite good. They make a good custard/ cream. I thought the tea sandwiches though were a little dry and the curried pea could have had more filing. The scones were also just okay - a bit on the soft side like maybe they were baked the day before - but the jam it came with was fantastic and overall they did a really great job with everything else. We'd come back for the next theme.

Yelp
We were passing through Portland for a couple days and a friend recommended DOJA Tea Lounge. Side note: We're enormous fans of tea parties and will take any opportunity to have one. It was a super rainy and blustery day (Portland, right?) and a tea party was so refreshing. The owner seems to know everything about single tea/sandwich/dessert served. He very nicely explained all of our choices and made his own recommendations when asked. Just a fountain of fun knowledge and excellent stories. The tea was excellent, but we were waiting for the sandwich and pastry towers and they DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Everything was just perfect - see pictures. A point of warning: Arrive hungry. You will eat and eat and eat. I don't know when we'll be through Portland again, but we will 100% stop again.

Yelp
A wonderful spot for High Tea. They accommodate food allergies so anyone can enjoy tea sandwiches and scones. Dairy Free and Gluten Free Menus are available. Also they have many kinds of tea flavors both caffeine and decaf options. Its location is tucked away by the pond making it a pleasant spot to walk. They have a small parking garage close to the location but there was plenty of parking around the lot during our visit. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and teas. Great spot to put on your fascinator and have a tea party!

Yelp
A great place for tea. The employees are wonderful and very knowledgeable about all the teas. The menu changes each quarter so there is also new and exciting to eat.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my first taiyaki ice cream! Matcha ice cream with red bean filling inside the fish was the perfect combo. It felt like a large amount for the price. It's a cute shop; the counter's right in front of what feels like a side door. It took me a minute to see the "ring for service" doorbell but staff came out from the back promptly once I hit it. If you go to the left of the counter there's a large side room with additional seating and views of the lake. Or you can take your items outside and enjoy lakeside! Just watch out for the waterfowl - there are almost too many. Pro-tip: Google Maps is slightly off when driving, so it helps to know roughly where you're going.

Yelp
A little gem located in the Tualatin area. Theres no direct route in front of the store so park in the larger retail parking and walk a few steps around the lake to Doja Tea. Reservations are easily made online. The ambiance is very cozy with plants and modern decor. The white linens and table setup will relax the mind and place you in a zen like state. The teas are served and placed on top of a candle warmer. You can select one favor of Tea with unlimited refills of hot water. We made it through 4-5 pours. There's a nice view of the man made lake and ducks are just floating about. The high tea price is comparable to other spots within a $48-55 per person price. The layers of sandwiches sweets and cakes was filling and had enough richness but were not overwhelmingly sweet. The scone was crunchy flakey and nice to eat with marmalade, house custard and clotted cream. This is a place to just relax and sip. I believe there's a time limit but we weren't rushed. Lots of groups trickled in over the hours. There was some Ghibli / final fantasy music playing in the background which was nice and the place isn't too loud with chatter. The tea quality was alright for me, not a deep enough steep like smith tea or packaged loose leaf like harney & sons. There's a vast selection of teas but the flavors and aroma weren't as pronounced as I wanted. Tea can be delicate and have deep flavor. Maybe not enough tea leaves were used. The seasonal menu is changing up again, book a rsvp and be ready to experience Doja's High Tea. No photos to post since I had buttery fingers but it was delightful.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've had from an afternoon tea. Relaxed ambiance, good service. I would highly recommend this shop, we had a great time.

Yelp
My gf and I went in today looking forward to the Taiyaki ice cream to cool down from the hot weather. But it seems like their business format has changed and they only offer the tea experience w/side dish for $45 per person with reservations. You won't be able to get any of the ice cream previously shown on Yelp. We ordered milky oolong anyway. It would be awkward to walk out empty handed. Unfortunately, the drink we received was wrong. It tastes more like water with a very light hint of green tea and no milk. I believe the owner is the same as the one as 5 Flavors in Hillsboro (cup labeled). I'd appreciate it if staff informed us about the business model change so we don't get the wrong expectations. I only found out about the $45 tea experience because I overheard another guest asking for information. Overalls disappointed.

Yelp
DOJA Tea Lounge is located on the lake at Tualatin Commons. They offer a wide variety of tea drinks in addition to some wonderful artisinal desserts. Today I ordered their taiyaki ice cream treat. It consists of soft serve ice cream in your choice of flavor with assorted toppings and a taiyaki with your choice of filling. Taiyaki taste a bit like a waffle and are shaped like a fish. The taiyaki is perfect when paired with the ice cream. It's a delicious tasting treat! There is indoor seating available and possibly outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Service was pleasant and helpful. The WES and bus 76 stop nearby. I would recommend visiting DOJA whenever you're in the mood for a tasty treat!

Yelp
The taiyaki icecream is quite a treat! I tried the vanilla/matcha swirl with matcha taiyaki filling, Oreo and matcha topping, and pocky ($6). The soft serve ice cream is creamy with a non-bitter matcha. The taiyaki is light and crispy with a slightly chewy inside and spread with matcha paste. It's all decorated with a strawberry and matcha Pocky stick! It overlooks the lake in Tualatin commons and you can't see it from the street or parking lot. It's close to the parking garage, or just park and walk along the lake until you find it.

Yelp
Food is great, amazing flavors! Service and ambiance could use attention. Employees seem a little standoffish. Layout is awkward.

Yelp
This is everything you'd want in a tea lounge for afternoon tea. Amazing food, very creative mix of flavors, everything was delicious. Service was friendly and very prompt. Love the location on the water and decor inside is super cute and clean aesthetic. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
My friends and I came here for a weekend high tea and had an amazing time. We reserved for 11am and was surprised to find that the place was not busy at all even though there was very limited options when making reservations. Although we did come the Saturday after the horrible snow, so that could have been a factor. I also must have missed somewhere that there's a time limit when dining here so keep that in mind. I don't quite remember how long the limit was but I want to say 2-3 hours? Our party was so into our conversation that we only had 20 minutes left to finish our last tier. I love the ambiance of this place! Super cute and aesthetic. I love that each person gets their own tea and that there is a candle that keeps the tea hot at all times. Their selection of tea is huge! And you can choose whether you would like cream and sugar with it. As for the food, it's a rotating menu so that keeps things exciting. There were definitely some things I loved and others I was indifferent about. Overall, I had a great time here and would definitely come back next time to try the next menu rotation!

Yelp
Super awesome little spot on the lake. All of the food included with the tea- sandwiches, scones etc. were really tasty and well executed. The actual tea was great too! They didn't rush us, we got to have a great time. Cute little spot, definitely recommend!

Yelp
A Hidden Gem. A little hard to find but just park by the KeyBank and walk around the lake. This place was amazing and well worth it! Bring a little bit of patience because they're a small place and there's a lot of people that want to visit. The owner ended up being our waiter and he was fantastic. The tea and food were delicious. They even had a gluten-free vegan menu so I got to finally enjoy small bites with my tea!! I can't wait to try out their new place next-door called Terra Coffee ! (I just hope they include some gluten-free vegan items on that menu too ) Plus some of us purchased some lovely plants too. 10 out of 10.

Yelp
We were here for afternoon tea. Service was not very attentive. I would have liked water in addition to my tea but the waitress never came back after delivering our food. The 3 tea sandwiches were all made with plain white bread that was a bit stale and filling was not very impressive. The scone was delicious but we were given about 2 teaspoons of clotted cream to share between two of us - and that wasn't even enough for one scone. I don't know, after tip it was $100 for really mediocre tea sandwiches and poor service. Not impressed sadly.

Yelp
4 person tea party today. It was glorious. Delicious food. Ate my food too quickly to take a picture ( here's the menu) we had a little extra to take home which is my sign that we were fed extremely well. I will return for Mother's Day( and birthday and any occasion I can eat my way through)

Yelp
I'm giving this tearoom three stars because I believe everyone is trying their best to provide a quality tea experience. I would suggest, however, that more effort should be put into some fundamentals. The lighting in the tearoom is too bright. Dim the lights a bit. Tea is supposed to be a cosy affair! Get rid of the extra furniture, such as the unused back counter. It just destroys any hope of ambiance. Love the plant wall but the clash of plastic holly boughs is tacky. The sugar looks like road gravel--bougie, but just use sugar or cubes; the rocks never dissolve and they're weird colors to boot. Please give us a fork because the little carrot quiche needed a utensil. As far as the menu goes, there are some strange and rather unfortunate combinations. Sour cherry cake with "smoked" unsweetened Chantilly cream and almonds is a bust. Just top the cake with sweetened Chantilly! The smoke tasted like someone put their cigarette out into it. The gingerbread and jam tart was another bizarre combination. The sandwiches were clunky, bland and dry. The sweet cheese and pepper spice scone was a fail as well. Is it savory, sweet, spicy or all three? Very confusing and baffling flavor combinations and they did not work, particularly at a $70/pp price point. Sorry, but I found this holiday tea to be the worst tea I've ever had in nearly 60 years.

Yelp
I really wanted to LOVE this place, but it was a disappointment. The venue itself is charming. We chose to sit outside by the lake. In retrospect, we should have sat inside for several reasons. The heat for one and perhaps the service would have been more attentive. We asked for water four times and were forgotten about. The food was average, the bread was a bit stale. The savory items were good. The sweets were ok, but not a wow factor. I did not leave with the feeling of - I want to come back. I asked for some more clotted cream for our party of four. He came back with the tiniest vessel- not even enough for one. We were not checked on during the 2 hour service to see how things were going. Two of us had to go inside to request more water- which did not happen. I mentioned to a waitress about being disappointed and really wanting them to be successful. We don't have very many nice places out this way. I did receive a call from the owner and expressed my thoughts. He wanted feedback and apologized but did not offer any compensation of any kind. A please come back and we will make it right - would have been great. I am not a picky person, but I do expect excellent service and food at this price point.

Yelp
I have been trying various tea houses at different locations with friends and this is a favorite spot. The decor was lovely, staff friendly and service impeccable. Now...let's talk High Tea! I enjoyed it all! This High Tea had the floral theme and I really was unsure how that would taste. It was literally captivating on my palate! Hard to articulate other than the gentle yet evident flavors dancing upon my tongue. Just so lovely! Cannot wait for the summer menu with strawberries! My only disappointment was they were not yet serving pastries or the mille cake to-go as of yet. However, it just gives me a reason to come back! The owner is a nice and informative host and we enjoyed chatting with him!

Yelp
This was a big expensive disappointment. We went as a social occasion and the ambiance and waitstaff not impressive. If you are looking for a high tea experience. Don't go here. $48per person and even the tea was lackluster.

Yelp
When I was visiting family in Santa Clara there ya a place that sells Taiyaki. We tried to go but the line was around the block. I guess one advantage of being in Portland is not having to wait for Taiyaki. It was delicious. My son ate the whole thing so I was left with the dregs of the ice cream. My friends get four more shells they loved them so much. I wish there were more flavors but what are you gonna do. The Mille crepe was excellent too. This is truly an art form. Has a slightly odd mouth feel but tasty. My only complaint is having been to the sister store 5 Flavor; I'm not quite sure what is in the menu here. I don't know if it's reduced due to covid or what. Very friendly owners that I remember from 5 flavor. I highly recommend.

Yelp
3.5 Really wanted to like this place, and I do! But I think there are things they can improve, and I'm wishing them the best during quarantine and excited to see them improve! First, the space is nice. They have a cute flower wall in the back a some seating inside and tables outside, for when people can stay to eat. I'm sure it'll look even better filled with people once quarantine is done. It's also right by the artificial Tualatin lake/pond so it's a nice location. Second, I was beyond excited to try the taiyaki. For those who don't know, taiyaki is a Japanese fish shaped "bread" (think pancake batter texture) that is traditionally filled with red bean. This is the only place in Portland that sells ice cream taiyaki so I am very grateful that they opened. They offer matcha or vanilla soft serve, with red bean or Nutella filled taiyaki, plus your choice of topping - and it comes with two pocky. We had both ordered matcha soft serve however after paying and waiting a few minutes, we were told their machine isn't working. The staff, who were nice but young, didn't know how to fix it - understandable, I wouldn't either - so they asked if we would be okay with the vanilla. We had already paid and were excited to try it so we said sure but both agreed that it would've been nice of them to offer an extra topping since we had already paid. They were out of at least one of their signature drinks as well - but again, the staff seemed young (though nice!) and quarantine is a confusing/hard time for businesses. The taiyaki is $6. The soft serve is good and typical soft serve. Their taiyaki has a texture more similar to mochi than the traditional style. It's tasty though, crispy on the outside and chewy inside. The red bean filling was quite light though. They had a few other dessert selections in the case that looked fine. And of course they have what seems like a nice tea selection and I'd like to try them some time. Like I said in the beginning, I'm rooting for them!
