Restaurant Takeout and Delivery Recommendations From Eater Austin Editors - Eater Austin

"I always love how rich the gelatos are, and how well the flavors shine and work well together. I opted for a trio: my go-to stracciatella with lovely bits of chocolate chips, the bright fromage blanc and blueberry, and the well-balanced mascarpone and matcha." - Erin Russell

Google
I like how nice and relaxing the location is. It's super modern. What I don't like is the lack of original flavors. The goat cheese and blueberry, pistachio vanilla, malted milk are not the same as the other location. The picture is the pistachio vanilla, and it has no pistachio. Last week at the other location, there was pistachio in every bite. I'd rather make the drive to South 1st for better tasting gelato.

Google
Very good ice cream. Italian style and very smooth. I loved the pistachio one and the coffee one.

Google
Good gelato, not great staff. Came here with my parents on a Saturday night and we got gelato and sat outside. They were closing soon-ish (next 20-15) and the one employee who was working came outside and told use to leave and we asked if we could finish up and head out when they close and she straight up said no. It was so bizarre… Like really weird. My poor parents were so confused as to the lack of customer service. Like keep to your hours… especially when people buy $60+ in ice cream. I live upstairs and will never be back. Ever.

If you still trying to find a real Italian espresso and delicious gelato in Austin, then you must visit Dolce Neve. True taste of Italy and italian service here! Highly recommend!

Google
Affogato was delicious! I chose salted caramel Gelato and it was heaven.

Google
I got 2 flavors: chocolate 70% and i think madagascar vanilla (i went 4 months ago so not sure). They were both pretty good! I enjoyed the strong chocolate taste. I think they’re pretty generous with samples too. I i think I also tasted Malted Milk which was a bit sweet but pretty unique. Would come back! Slightly expensive though. Also awesome authentic gelato (I have not been to Italy, but apparently the authentic gelatos are the ones not displayed colorfully).

Google
Wonderful gelato spot! Owner seemed very knowledgeable about flavors, gelato, and easily provided us with recommendations!

Yelp
This was some of the best Gelato I have tasted and they have a variety of flavors. The person that was working was kind and patient with me while I tried a couple of the flavors. They even let me know that I could get 2 flavors in the small that I got. I got the vanilla one and the matcha one but they had other stuff in it. I cant exactly remember the names but they were delicious.

Yelp
This is a cute gelato shop. The cashier was super friendly and patient with my group. We were able to help ourselves to a generous amount of samples until we found our perfect flavors. I had the matcha & mascarpone, chocolate 70%, and coffee flavors. The gelato wasn't overly sweet and was very rich. The matcha & mascarpone was by far my favorite flavor but all of the flavors were delicious.

Yelp
Tasty gelato in East Austin. The store is clean and modern. We tried the pineapple sorbet and the crema dolce neve which was a lemony custard flavor. The gelato was super creamy and I enjoyed the combo! Will definitely be back to try other flavors.

Yelp
Super good gelato! Cute interior with a few spots to sit outside. I got the matcha and mascarpone and the goat cheese and pecan. Both were awesome

Yelp
It was alright. Upon arrival we weren't greeted, and not much was said to us through the transaction. The flavors were fine. There wasn't a line so we were instantly served. The treat was good, but with the amount of ice cream/ gelato/ froyo places, not much stands out about it. If i come back to Austin, i will probably not come back to this location.

Yelp
The only real gelato in downtown Austin! I searched for gelato and noticed the narrow metal tins which the gelato is stored in and told hubs we have to check it out (real gelato isn't presented as large mounds of fluff). We came late in the afternoon and sampled almost all of the flavors. I opted for the Stracciatella (chocolate chip shavings) and the Cassata (ricotta, chocolate chips, and orange peel). These two paired so well together which made for a delightful afternoon treat! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that we went the following day.

Yelp
Pretty good gelato with a creamy texture and interesting flavors. I'm not the biggest gelato person so they're all pretty good to me. But this is one of my friend's favorite spots.
google avatar

Phuong P.

Yelp
This place is really cute. Service is quick and their gelato is pretty tasty. Always a great spot to hang out with friends or even to people watch. Parking might be tricky during weekend but it's a nice neighborhood to walk if you can't get a spot right there.

Yelp
I was on a desperate search for gelato, and this was one of the highly reviewed spots. However, I went to the newer spot since it was closer. Disappointing. What I Ordered: + Dark Chocolate, 3/5 It wasn't awful, but I've had better, and that's disappointing when the reviews are so high.

Yelp
Was surprised to see this place so dead on a hot day! They make their own gelato and it tastes very fresh but not as sweet as I would have hoped. It was cool that I could get two flavors in a small cup though!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid option for dessert. Cute little shop with plenty of seating and plenty of flavors. We got the hazelnut, stracciatella, and chocolate. My fave by far was the stracciatella -- it tasted light and fresh, if a teensy bit icy. The flavors were all surprisingly toned down on the sweetness, which I preferred. $6 a cup for up to two flavors, which was reasonable if slightly higher than I otherwise might prefer to pay. So overall, a good experience (if not life altering)!

Yelp
Dolce Neve has the best gelato I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. I'm happy that I randomly came across a YouTube video talking about his food tour experience in Austin. He said that it was the best gelato he's had in America and I completely agree with him 100%. I went with the medium cup and I got three flavors. I got the ricotta, honey and pistachio, organic hazelnut and stracciatella gelatos. All three were delicious. It was $8 for the medium and it's well worth it in my opinion. The ricotta, honey and pistachio gelato was my favorite. The lady that helped me was very friendly and gave me some good suggestions. I will definitely come back when I'm in Austin in the future.

Yelp
Nice gelato spot in East Austin!! Tucked away although in plain sight...possibly because not much traffic in or around shop. Had to call to ensure were open (glass windows slightly tinted so appears closed). Cute little spot love the plants. Server was extremely nice and welcoming. Allowed me to sample multiple flavors. Flavors were a bit too "foo-foo" for me. I really wanted a rich deep chocolate but not available. Settled on Madagascar vanilla and whiskey pecan. Pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
came in for the first time to see what they had and this teenager? idek some guy behind the counter just wasn't having it? like i asked if they had vanilla and he obnoxiously looks at what was on display and looks at me and says no in a way to poke fun at me.. like i get it but if im asking nicely you don't need to be rude and smart about it. his overall attitude wasn't great and im not sure if he was having a bad day but regardless it was enough for me to leave and not get anything :p

Yelp
Best gelato in Austin and maybe the best I've ever had? Obsessed with the unique flavors which always feature something like goat cheese pecan or mascarpone blueberry. 10/10
google avatar

Yelp
One of the top dessert places in Austin! The stracciatella here is my favorite flavor as well as their Creme Dolce Neve which has the perfect sweet but lightly tangy taste. I've also tried their pineapple sorbet and coffee flavors which are also great options. I love taking people visiting Austin here because of how freshly all the flavors are made and the local feel of the shop. There's no designated parking here so you'll definitely have to street park or park in a garage nearby.
google avatar

Richard L.

Yelp
Got my sweet tooth fix here. The pistachio and ricotta, honey, pistachio were excellent.
google avatar

Kelsie S.

Yelp
It was towards the end of the night that we arrived but they were still friendly and quick to get us helped. The combinations are completely different than any other place I've ever been and I absolutely loved it. I'm a huge goat cheese fan so seeing a Goat Cheese & Pecan option, I was sold. It was so delicious and soon after had me craving more. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Camille J.

Yelp
I've enjoyed their original location and recently tried this location! They get their gelato delivered every morning from the original location. It was creamy and delicious, not overwhelmingly sweet. I had a golden kiwi sorbet and the stracciatella. Delicious! And a handful of tables inside and a couple outside as well.
google avatar

Javier B.

Yelp
Just delicious gelato and coffee! That is what I go for... very good quality gelato, nice service and reasonable prices. I just to love Teo across the street from Seton downtown but it closed and now my favorite gelato place is Dolce Neve... If you love original gelato, you must try. Don't forget the cappuccino!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down, without a doubt, nothing else even comes close, this is the BEST gelato I've had in Austin. And I've tried a LOT of gelato shops here. What I love about Dolce Neve is that their gelato is so light & fluffy (as gelato is meant to be), not heavy like ice cream. Their flavors are absolutely divine, subtle & bright. My favorite is the Crema Dolce Neve, a cloud-like custard gelato with lemon zest that's like a beautiful burst of sunshine in my mouth. But like the good kind of sunshine, on a crisp, cool 55 degree autumn day. Not the oppressive, humid, disgusting Texas summer kind of sunshine. Last but certainly not least, Dolce Neve makes a damn fine affogato, 3 scoops of gelato (I get mine with Madagascar Vanilla) with hot coffee poured over the top. The gelato slowly melts into the coffee, resulting in the fluffiest, yummiest cream topping you can imagine.
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
Love the pineapple sorbet and pistachio gelato. Both were phenomenal, especially the pineapple. You could tell it was fresh and made with real fruit. This location had a lot more flavors available then the other location that I visited the day before. So glad I got to try the pineapple because it was my favorite. Server was friendly and nice, wasn't stingy on the scoop. Lots of open tables to sit at. I managed to find street parking a block away and it was a Sunday so the parking was free.

Prasiddha H.

Yelp
Had a chance to try Dolce Neve when in the downtown area and I was not disappointed. We ended up walking into this store since we were craving some dessert and this place ended up hitting the spot! I ended up trying the goat cheese pecan ice cream while my friend got the strawberry sorbet. The ice cream was creamy and delicious and refreshing. Loved it!
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
Not bad but I've had it in Houston before. The only difference is the customer service is not the best at this location. The girl was not patient when we stepped in she immediately wanted us to order without giving a chance to scope out the menu and flavor options.
google avatar

Dhanya T.

Yelp
I had not this good of gelato in a long while! I got the dolce neve flavor (which was the egg custard with lemon, I believe) and pistachio, honey, and ricotta. Both were delicious, perfect end to a hot summers day. I heard they make gelato in house, and you can definitely tell. Soft, creamy, and not too sweet.

Courtney M.

Yelp
Delicious gelato and super friendly, helpful service. Plenty of little tables inside to sit and enjoy gelato.
google avatar

Cher W.

Yelp
Delicious Gelato ! Chocolate was rich good quality. Most of all it was not too sweet. Good smooth consistency. A bit pricey..
google avatar

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
The lemon gelato was so good!! It had little bits of zest, and was appropriately sweetened. We also tried salted caramel, also good, but the lemon was the star.
google avatar

Larry B.

Yelp
Not bad (for me anyway) but not great. Had the whiskey & pecan along with the ricotta/honey/pistachio flavor and both were just ok, neither being overly creamy or flavorful. Granted he's a 2 year old but Junior wouldn't finish his vanilla and he's an ice cream nut most of the time. As for my sister, she got through 2 bites of the watermelon sorbet and had to throw it out - tasted like the cantaloupe one got in there along with some other odd flavors, not sure if things weren't cleaned or whatever but we all agreed it was inedible. Will be moving on to other spots

Jose F.

Yelp
Some great delicate flavors. The chocolate is bold. The specialty flavors are delicate and not overpowering. These gelatos and sorbets are very soft and yummy. I wish there were even more varieties!
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
Isssssssss essssspensive, but oh so decadent. Great flavors, generous scoops, and they've got some pints ready to go, as well as some gelato cookie sandwiches and bars if you don't want to mess with the melt in a cup or cone.
google avatar

Neelab H.

Yelp
Stepped in last minute before they closed and I didn't feel rushed at all. The staff is welcoming. Cute shop. Unique flavors! they have limited variety but they are rich flavors. Staff let me know they switch up flavors often. I got the cream with chocolate chip and organic hazelnut. DELICIOUS! I usually never go to ice cream places twice because they all seem the same. But I def will be here again
google avatar

Alysia G.

Yelp
Love the chocolate flavor, but their fruity flavors are a bit ice than flavor for me.
google avatar

Adrian N.

Yelp
Best gelato I've had in Austin so far. I highly recommend the coffee and Meyer lemon gelato!
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
When your sweet tooth is craving for something delicious, look no further than Dolce Neve Gelato. I've always loved gelato as it's much smoother and has less calories than its ice cream counterpart. What I got here is: - Fromage Blanc & Blueberry: This one is unique because you have the sweet berry flavor blended with a sweet cheese, after all, "fromage blanc" is "white cheese" in French - Chocolate from Ghana: This one is very dense. Full of dark rich chocolate flavor! It contrasts very well with the lighter, creamier Fromage Blanc gelato. They have a lot more unique flavors to choose from, so I plan to be back for more!
google avatar

Cesar K.

Yelp
Excellent gelato, we tried the Dolce Neve (great lemon flavor) and the green tee (good surprise). Great service too!
google avatar

Chantal P.

Yelp
Ordered the mango and pineapple sorbet - very good! I loved the atmosphere and that it's locally made. We will be coming back!
google avatar

Xia B.

Yelp
The store owner moved from New York to Austin to open this very authentic gelato spot with simple classic Italian flavors. I enjoyed talking with him about what he loved most in Austin and what he misses most about New York. He's a colorful Italian personality with a colorfully delicious business to match! I recommend the hazelnut gelato.
google avatar

Jonathan S.

Yelp
Cool gelato place in a hip part of Austin. Not much to talk about other than just really nice gelatos. Clean white marble interior, reminiscent of those in Rome. Yummy rich gelato. Don't look for sprinkles and smooshing, and a lot of hype. This just isn't that place.

Ingrid S.

Yelp
Best pistachio gelato ever! only real pistachio flavor none of those fake flavoring. Generous portions, reasonable prices.
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
Welcome to the neighborhood, Dolce Neve! Nice company to be giving away gelato all day on their first day! Nice staff and lots of interesting flavors. Looks to be a great addition to Sautillo Plaza.
google avatar

Dean H.

Yelp
Everything is made from scratch including the caramel and the roasted pecans. Absolutely amazing.
google avatar

Ken K.

Yelp
Came here two days after trying their Bouldin Creek location, because it was THAT good. I mixed it up (a little), by getting vanilla with salted caramel. The worker was friendly and fast. Again, the flavors were perfect. The person I was with got the dark chocolate. I tried it as well and it was delicious. It was very smooth, but super rich, so you have to like dark chocolate to enjoy it. I love this place and CAN'T wait to go back.

Kelsey W.

Yelp
Great gelato, tiny serving sizes. Cute place, felt bad for the worker because a whole frat walked in right behind us but she was nice.
google avatar

Tracy O.

Yelp
So good! Love that this place is on the East side now. My favorite gelato place! I love the nutty flavors they do- especially pistachio and hazelnut. We have ordered many to-go pints during COVID. They've been posting their rotating menu on their Instagram which made it easy to figure out what they had ahead of time
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
The service and gelato here are both equally disappointing. Apparently, sampling a few flavors means you are a tourist.... surprise, I was a tourist. I traveled down to Austin from Dallas for the weekend with 3 of my cousins and we decided to give Dolce Neve a try. I asked to sample flavors and I couldn't seem to find a flavor I liked and the texture wasn't my favorite. I kept sampling flavor after flavor hoping to find one I liked but come to find I disliked all of them. In the end, I sampled a total of 5 flavors (Vanilla, Crema Dolce Neve, Whiskey and Pecan, Watermelon, Cherry) and decided to give up after that. By the third sample, the guy working there started grunting and rolling his eyes because I asked to sample and said "yall must be tourists huh?" Yes, we were tourists and so what? Yes, to some, I may have sampled a bit too much, but I was trying to find a flavor I liked. In the end, 2 out of the 4 of us decided to buy from Dolce Neve and I wasn't one of them. The guy working there proceeded to make a big deal out of it and said something along the lines of me sampling pretty much the amount of a small size cup and was like "that's one way to do it..." Again, I only sampled 5 flavors and thought none were good, why would I buy a cup of gelato just for it to go to waste? If no one else in my group had bought anything, I would've definitely bought something just out of common courtesy, but because others in my group had bought something I didn't feel obligated to buy and was thus subjected to this kind of service. To say the least, the whole experience was unpleasant. The flavors were not the best and the textures were not the smoothest.
google avatar

Andoni S.

Yelp
I found the personal recommendations for gelato pairings made by the staff to be quite unique and delicious. I might have never thought to try Buddha's Hand with Ricotta, or the Crema Dolce Neve with a rich, smooth chocolate, and can say with confidence that I've never had these personalized pairings elsewhere. Portions were generous, prices were fair and the location is great and very walkable for the area. Marko is highly personable and very friendly - don't hesitate to ask for his expert opinion the next time you're there!

Vidya N.

Yelp
BEST gelato i've had in my entire life. If you're looking for a sweet treat in downtown Austin this is definitely the place to go!!
