Essential Austin Gelato Shop Opening in East Austin Next Week | Eater Austin

"A popular South First gelato shop is opening a Saltillo location at 1109 East 5th Street on Tuesday, January 21. The new outpost will offer the same in-house gelato menu of 12 flavors, including traditional stracciatella (chocolate chip) and inventive options like fromage blanc with apricot, along with gelato pops, sandwiches and sorbet. To mark the opening, the shop will give away free single scoops from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The business was founded by siblings Marco and Francesca Silvestrini and Francesca’s fiancé Leopoldo Ferrarese; the original South First Street location opened in 2014 and the shop expanded to the Heights in Houston in 2017." - Erin Russell
