Chicago’s Biggest Restaurant and Bar Closings, Winter 2024 - Eater Chicago

"Italian bakery mini-chain Dolci Amori has closed locations at 3025 N. Clark Street in Lakeview and 2010 W. Pierce Avenue in Wicker Park after nearly two years in business. A pair of outposts remain open on Fulton Street on Chicago’s Near West Side and State Street at Rush & Division. The brand was launched in 2022 by Ciro Longobardo, a co-owner of Italian restaurant hit Piccolo Sogno, as a homage to his teenage years spent devouring half a kilo of pastries with his brother in their hometown of Naples. The chain launched as a pandemic pop-up operating from the revered River West Italian restaurant." - Ashok Selvam

Wow. This place was way better than I could've expected. They had a good mix of sweet and savory pastries. I definitely recommend you get a box to try as many things as you can. The person behind the counter was very helpful and offered recommendations. Everything we tried was delicious and so fresh, just the right amount of sweetness and lightness to enjoy with coffee. Speaking of, their coffee was also great which I can't say about too too many places. Definitely try the pistachio cake! I look forward to trying their other location.

The establishment is much larger than i imagined it would be! several seating options. i got the pistachio cake and it is SO MOIST with just a thin layer of chocolate on the bottom and top. what a delight. also the staff are friendly and helpful. an excellent place to come solo or with a friend to hang out and drink coffee.

I stopped in for a pastry and cappucino before work one morning, and I really enjoyed what I received. I tried the pistachio croissant. The filling was a bit sweet for my taste but the pistachio was nice. The croissant itself was both flaky and light in texture. I highly recommend stopping in for reasonably priced and good quality pastries and coffee!

I was excited about this place and trying out some of the deserts. I asked about a couple of the desert and eventually decided to grab what I was told is panna cotta. I imagine the panna cotta will have some sort of natural flavor like vanilla but instead it was a strong key line one. Fortunately I like key lime, and although I think they should mention that, it didn't bother me. Unfortunately, what did bother me was the quality of it - and it was bad! The taste was awful. I don't know if it was old, or maybe they accidentally froze it and then defrost it or it was just made bad, but I couldn't finish it. Extremely disappointed.

Recommend: had a mocha with some bakery items. The drink was good and the pistachio cake and cannoli tasted great. Definitely recommend. What is odd though is that there are no name and price tags on any items which makes it very frustrating in deciding and feels like pulling teeth out of the employees finger pointing to the items that you want to know what they are. Also, the menu on screen does not seem always turned on, so at the same time pulling teeth asking what drinks they have. Maybe it's because they opened just a few months ago, and will get it together within the next few, I hope.

Delicious pastries. I’m not usually a fan of dry pastries but I really like the ones with pistachios on them. I always try new ones when I walk by. I even got a free croissant with my iced coffee one time. The staff are always nice and willing to answer questions.

Delicious, fresh pastries and very good coffee. Lots of places to sit and they have wi-fi. It's only a couple of minutes from the hospital, nice spot to wait.

Went in for the grand opening and was helped by Enzo who recommended the strawberry and cream Neapolitan rum babà and the mini original babàs. Also recommend the apricot jam filled cornetto. The jam is freshly made. Absolutely enjoyed them and will definitely be back!
