Boston Restaurant Openings for Spring 2021 | Eater Boston

"A Turkish-inspired restaurant from chef-owner Yesim Otsuz that draws on Antalya-region techniques; the menu features borek (flaky stuffed pastries), manti (Turkish dumplings), stuffed artichokes and peppers, and tutmac (a yogurt, lentil, and noodle soup); all meat used is halal and the spot is open Wednesday through Monday for indoor dining, takeout, and delivery." - Terrence Doyle

My impression upon walking in was that the atmosphere was comfortable and colorful! They had beautiful Turkish tiles along one of the walls and a self serve water station. I sat inside as it was a hot 90 degree day, and it was nice and cool. I would have sat on the lovely patio had it been 10 degrees cooler. The two women working the front of the house were very sweet and bubbly. I ordered a trio of choose your own cold mezze. I picked stuffed artichoke heart, eggplant salad and hummus. They were all amazing!! I adored the eggplant salad. It was smoky but had piquant red peppers in it that made my mouth tingle in the best way possible, adding a little zing to cut through the smokiness. I also ordered Manti (mini beef dumplings over a sour and garlicky yogurt with spiced oil over the top). It was my first time having this dish and I really enjoyed it. I got pistachio baklava to go. It was a little pricey for just one person, but despite that I can’t wait to come back and try more things from the menu!

I truly believe Turkish cuisine is the best cuisine in the world. Wherever I travel, I always make sure to find and try a Turkish restaurant. This place in Boston exceeded my expectations with its delicious food, thoughtful presentation, warm atmosphere, and above all, cleanliness. The mantı, stuffed grape leaves, and Turkish coffee were especially delicious. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience authentic Turkish flavors.

Delightful place! Excellent food and lovely service. Can’t wait to return and try more dishes. Today we had beef shawarma on buttery rice pilaf, a hot side of roasted eggplant, leek falafel and sesame bagel with cheese.

Google
This is a delightful experience for the taste buds! From succulent kebabs and flaky baklava to hearty soups and fresh salads, the flavors are rich and diverse. The use of herbs and spices adds a unique touch to every dish. The service is friendly and the atmosphere inviting. Whether you're trying a tangy yogurt drink or a spicy meat dish, Turkish food offers a satisfying and authentic culinary adventure. A must-try for food lovers!

Google
I absolutely loved my visit to Dolma in Brookline! The food was outstanding—I tried the Turkish breakfast, and everything tasted so fresh and authentic. The burek was perfectly flaky and flavorful, and the Turkish coffee had the most wonderful aroma. On top of that, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. I’m visiting from California, but Dolma has definitely become a must-stop for me whenever I’m in Boston. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious, authentic Turkish food!

Google
Dolma restaurant has a warm, family-friendly vibe! The salads and tzatziki were absolutely fantastic! While the prices are a bit on the higher side for the main course, you do get a choice of a cold appetizer and I couldn’t resist the beautiful quinoa salad—it was so tempting that I dove in before snapping a pic ! ) I went for the moussaka with ground beef , my husband a beef stew with rice and my son a delicious chicken mushroom wrap!

Google
This place is hidden gem! I believe it could have been more famous if the location was somewhere in North Brookline or downtown Boston. Food, Service and Atmosphere, all is great and welcoming here. For someone who doesn't know well Turkish cuisine, this place surely be a good place to begin with!

Yelp
To me, whenever I think about Boston, all I know is its strong seafood presence. However being in the suburbs of Boston, it gave me the opportunity to try other cuisines, and I was excited to see this authentic Turkish restaurant not far from my hotel. Ironically, I found this place when I was looking up ice cream. They serve authentic Turkish ice cream, and it's been something I've been wanting to try. In addition to the ice cream, I ordered Manti (Turkish dumplings) and Uludag soda (which they say is a Turkish ginger ale). I loooooooooved the Manti. While the dumplings were filled with meat, the dish overall felt light since each dumpling is like the size of a quarter. The dumplings had a nice chew, and the sauces made the dish rich yet creamy. The Uludag soda was definitely much lighter than a ginger ale. Tasted like a light citrusy drink, and it's less sweet than American sodas. The ice cream had a nice pull and chew, although it didn't look as stretchy as Turkish ice creams I've seen. Nice amount of pistachio flavor throughout. I came on a weekday lunch, so there was ample seating inside. Ordering is done via a QR code on your table or on a tablet stand in the middle of the restaurant. Service was quick and friendly, making it a great experience overall.

Yelp
A gem of a place that serves authentic Turkish dishes! Dolma was spacious and it felt so inviting. The staff were very welcoming and they answered all of my questions. My friend and I ordered three dishes that were absolutely filling and flavorful. The standout favorite was the moussaka which was beef, eggplant, and tomato sauce. It came with soft and pillowy pita bread that soaked up all of the goodness. Another highlight was the Manti which are Turkish dumplings. The Manti were bite sized dumplings topped with a garlicky yogurt sauce. It was comfort in a bowl! My friend and I were completely satisfied by our experience with the variety of food that Dolma had to offer. There was street parking outside. Dolma had plenty of indoor seating and they offer outdoor seating (unheated).

Yelp
This is a great option for take out or catering: everything is neatly packaged up in compostable or recyclable packaging, labeled clearly, and ready to eat. The chicken lemon soup and the red lentil fingers were my two favorites of the meal and I would have been very happy with just the 2 of them (bonus: also super healthy!), but there wasn't anything I didn't like. I did think the baked leek-spinach falafel would be a bit more flavorful, but the yogurt garlic sauce helped on that front. Each entree looks to be a bit $$$ but ends up coming with a choice of app, side and sauce, so is a complete meal in itself- but you'll want to get yourself some of the bread (the variety basket is a nice option) and more of the dips and apps (we got the 3 item platter, with hummus, tzatziki, and grape leaves), and of course some baklava or kataifi. You'll be full of tasty, healthy food. Much of this felt pre-prepped and ready to go, so there's definitely a heavy catering vibe here- take that for what it's worth.

Yelp
I can't believe I've lived nearby for 4 years and it took so long to try this place! First of all, I really appreciate how everything is labeled vegetarian and gf. They were also so helpful with navigating my allergies. My husband and I got a ton of food for takeout dinner and leftovers. I loved the lentil eggplant moussaka! I actually ended up mixing it with the spinach manti since I can't eat red pepper sauce. The hummus tastes homemade and the tzatziki is garlicky and excellent. Put your pita that comes with it under the broiler for a minute on each side and thank me later! I wish the spinach feta pie had more filling, but some people might really like the dough. The lima bean stuffed artichokes were fantastic (I feel like I usually only see fried artichokes on menus). The stuffed grape leaves were really interesting and definitely different than the Greek version I've had before. I can't wait to try more items, especially the baked falafel and kaitafi!

Yelp
The food is always fresh and well seasoned and everyone is very friendly Great little neighborhood to eat outside, inside or take home

Yelp
This is a quaint family run restaurant with a very friendly staff. There's a large menu and variety of options to choose from. We ordered the lamb stew and chicken saute wrap with tzatziki and a salad on the side. We were not disappointed, the chicken wrap and the tzatziki were the standouts, very fresh and filling.

Yelp
Filling, delicious food. The owners are super nice and friendly. Just what a neighborhood restaurant should be, but also worth traveling to get to.

Sadaf E.

Yelp
Really great authentic Turkish food. Everything is homemade, delicious and feels light. Service was amazing as well. Inside is nice and clean. I love that they use clean compostable packaging. The manti, cheese borek, and grape leaves are the must-tries.

Yelp
Every item had a memorable taste. Service was warm and cozy. We sat outside and enjoyed the quiet environment

Yelp
Great dinner on a very snowy night! Red Lentil soup, chicken, and grape leaves to die for.

Yelp
All the food was amazing, including the ice cream for dessert. Service was also great. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Very cute and cozy restaurant, and the food was very satisfying. Went here for lunch and they had a table for 4 available. We were able to order directly from the app using the QR code on our table. We ordered vegetarian grape leaves and pita and hummus to start us off. The grape leaves were delicious and so was the hummus. For our entrées, we ordered pepperoni panini, shakshuka, and salmon bake bowl. Food was nicely portioned, we didn't have any leftovers and satisfying for an afternoon meal. We ended our meal with some warm Turkish tea and coffee.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! We went for the first time last night and were blown away. The staff are super kind and helpful. I am gluten free and they had so many options - she even got me bread for the hummus! I left my bag there and selin our server made sure that it got back to me. She was great! All of the food we tried was incredible. My personal favorite was the dolma but we will be back to try more! Thank you for a great night! Looking forward to returning! Yelp
Guess which restaurant is a new favorite- yep Dolma!! I love finding new gems like this :) We ordered delivery, food came pretty quickly. As someone else also noted, food was all packed nicely and all in non-plastic containers. And look at the pic how cute the bag had these hearts on it - love the little detail!! As usual we got many dishes - chicken orzo soup, salmon, chicken sauté, eggplant moussakka w lentils, and the shawarma wrap. For each entree you get to choose a carb (rice, bulgur etc) and a cold app (many choices) and pita. We chose rice, tzatziki, sheppard salad, okra and vegan kofte. All the food tasted really good and fresh. Chicken soup was lemony and tasty. Salmon had a nice flavor, chicken dish was flavorful, and the eggplant was really tasty. Tzatziki was very creamy and yummy, and I liked the cucumber pieces in it. The okra was nice too maybe a little over cooked and mushy but still tasty. Salad was nice crunchy with cucumber, tomato, onion, and green peppers very fresh. The amount of rice that comes with each dish could be increased imo especially since most entrees are in the ~$20 range. The vegan kofte was not quite what I expected and a bit too sour for me. Hubs enjoyed the shawarma wrap - although he found a pickle in it and we had requested no pickle. Anyway, lots of leftovers so we'll be enjoying those for a few lunches. All in all, great fresh authentic tasting food! Definitely will be ordering again to try their other dishes. Can't wait!

Yelp
delicious! & the service was amazing, fuiza was the best!! they have outdoor & indoor seating areas and have wifi. to order, you can self-order using the qr code on the table or there's a tablet at the entrance or you can walk up to the register and they'll take your order. we got grape leaves which i usually don't like bc the store bought ones are too acidic but i loved dolma's 5/5 the baklava was also one of my favorite bites the hummus tasted freshly made and all the bread in the bread basket was top tier for mains we got dolma, moussaka & manti. all very good. the manti were so cute. a lot of the dishes were yogurt-heavy which personally isn't my preference, i might ask for it on the side next time. my favorite main that we ordered was the moussaka

Yelp
Dolma walked by 100 times and never stopped to eat. We went in for dinner and have a delicious meal and dessert was yummy as well. Service was outstanding. I would highly recommend this is you love Greek and or Mediterranean food.

Yelp
My wife and I were invited by friends to eat at Dolma in Brookline, MA. Was surprised by the location off of a main road, tucked in a residential area. Was more surprised by how fabulous the food was!!! Everything is made from scratch, with the freshest ingredients from Turkish recipes of the chef's Aunt. Boy did she do her justice. The tabouli with lots of mint was without a doubt the best I have ever had. Same goes for the mousakah and rice, without the heavy sauce and cheese that are found on most. For dessert, the rice pudding and baklava were exceptional, but for me, nothing was better then the thick, sweet Turkish coffee, served with a sweet piece of Turkish Delight. We will gladly drive the 40 minutes to go there again soon!

Yelp
Love this place! It's close to where I live and I'm so happy to have it in the neighborhood. Everything I have tried is delicious and as someone who eats mostly vegan and vegetarian I appreciate all of the offerings they have that I can eat. Especially delicious are the vegetarian kofte which have so much flavor. They're a little spicy, and perfectly well balanced with seasoning. The folx who own and work at this restaurant are lovely and kind. Definitely recommend for someone who is vegan or vegetarian.

Yelp
The restaurant is cute. Has a few tables but feels like take out restaurant. Will go back and try something else but the grape leaves were very greasy.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Food was good but weird layout for 1st timer. Didn't know it was self seating and you order by app. Signage or directions probably would of help. But overall food was good and service ok
google avatar

Yelp
Nice people, cute place, and tasty food made with love. They also have a sister cafe with deserts. Also delicious. We will be back!

Yelp
Nice neighborhood restaurant, friendly owners. You order from the kiosk or from your phone at a table and they bring out to you. The food was delicious! Loved the vegan kofte and the beef moussaka.

Elif S.

Yelp
Took my mom there for dinner today. It was our first time there. We both LOVED the place. The food was excellent. The space was clean and friendly and felt fresh and and comfortable. The staff were super sweet. Did I mention the food was delicious? It was delicious. We had the manti, the spinach pie (börek) and bulgur. We were seated inside, but they also have outdoor seating. My dad's mom was trained in home economics in Türkiye and her her cooking was fabulous. Even she would have loved this place. If you want a good home-cooked Turkish meal, this is the place.
google avatar

Flo C.

Yelp
Lovely charming space with friendly service and the food was delicious! Had the eggplant moussaka with beef, out of this world yummy! The okra salad and rice was perfect with the moussaka! The lamb meat was also delish! Not to be missed, a must visit!
google avatar

Yelp
I loved this place when they first opened however, just so so now. Portions on sides have continually gotten smaller and prices have increased outrageously. This is not a new change. I use to just buy 2-3 sides as a meal. The bottom of container is sometimes barely covered. Everything is served on disposable dinnerware ( which is fine) but the cost is rather high for what you get. The quality is good - sometimes heavy on the salt, but it is still fresh and homemade. They are often out of many sides as well. Good to check before going. Outdoor seating has gotten a bit nicer so that is a plus :)
google avatar

Matthew W.

Yelp
The food was tasty so I forgot to photograph! We got the chicken orzo soup, shepherds' salad, manti, and the mousakka entree. The soup and salad were both tasty. The manti was probably my favorite, with this lovely garlic yogurt complementing the well spiced dumplings. The mousakka had more meat than we expected, but it was a pleasant surprise! Welcome to the neighborhood Dolma!

Yelp
Food was great and love the outdoor patio dining! Great place for lunch and will definitely come here again!

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here on a whim and I think I found my new favorite Mediterranean spot. Everything was flavorful and reasonably priced. The stuffed grape leaves were a real winner and the rice pudding was delicious. Will be ordering from here again.

Yelp
This is the best Turkish food I have ever had in the area! When I first went to Dolma, I got upset that I found out about it late. The meals are home cooked. A lot of it tastes like my mother's food:') As a Turkish foodie who has been living in MA for 7 years, I highly recommend this place! (Also great service and very kind staff)
google avatar

Yelp
This place is the coolest! The owners are the most down to earth people and they're all working the everyday there. Such a family feel. And the food is amazing! This is my new go to. Get their egg plant Mousaka!

Yelp
Everything is absolutely delicious! And they are very nice and accommodating. If you like Turkish food, here's your place!

Yelp
We loved it. Quiet, low key but it was the food and people we enjoyed! We shall be back. Thanks Dahann for the wonderful experience.

Yelp
I'm new to the Brookline area and I walk past this restaurant on my daily commute. I finally decided to stop in and I'm so happy I did. The food here is absolutely delicious. I was blown away. I was too stuffed to order dessert, so I can't wait to go back and try the baklava and rice pudding.

Yelp
Made an easy online order of take out from this newly opened Mediterranean place and WOWZA! So good! I love how everything was neatly packaged in high quality, recyclable containers (or rolled adorably in the case of the pitas). Best news: the menu totally accommodated our tree nut and peanut allergy situation!!! (Don't worry, you can get nutty baklava!) We got: moussaka, green lentil soup, chicken sautéed platter (mild and tomatoey and perfect for picky kids), garlic oregano chicken (ideal if you don't actually want Mediterranean food haha), lentil patties (warning, they're cold! And delish), quinoa salad, and the white bean salad. Finished it up with the mosaic cake, which was delicious and chocolatey and also pretty unique - this one has walnut, so not for tree nut allergic people. Food was ready within 20 minutes of ordering and we got a spot right in front for easy pick up. The customer service was top notch and it just made for a really excellent night of trying something new that someone else cooked. Highly recommended! Interior is charming and looking forward to eating in person someday.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by for lunch. We ate outside on a quiet side street. I had the moussaka with rice and stuffed grape leaves. Rich, flavorful and perfectly balanced food. Attentive and friendly service. Dolma is absolutely delicious! I'll return soon and often.

Barbara L.

Yelp
The food is fresh and tastes great. The decor is attractive and comfortable. The people who work at Dolma are wonderful. What's not to like ? I especially appreciate the outdoor seating. As Dolma is not in a busy commercial area the traffic going by as well as the foot traffic is minimal. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Really fresh and flavorful dishes. Vegan friendly. Staff was very welcoming and the outdoor seating is very well designed. Wish they had a few more beverage options

Zuhal T.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely Turkish restaurant in Brookline. The service is unmatched and delightful. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely delicious - everything we tasted melted in other mouths. We are so fortunate to have this place and will definitely comeback. We highly recommend

Julia O.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious, quality food!! Everything was super yummy and flavorful without being overly salty (as most takeout can be). The chicken sauté was moist and tender; the mousakka lentil with Bulgar pilaf was also a hit. Loved the stuffed grape leaves too which were wrapped nice and tight. I'm not a huge dessert fan, but their chocolate soufflé was so good. Light but not crazy sweet. Highly recommend Dolma!

Emma S.

Yelp
Very tasty ans authentic Turkish food, very clean and nicely decorated restaurant with great outdoor seating. I'll be coming back and I highly recommend it!

Benjamin D.

Yelp
Just tried Dolma out. Really good food. Loved the shawarma plate with the yogurt sauce. Meatballs were great. Bread was great. We'll definitely be ordering from here again.

Pwr T.

Yelp
The manti tasted good but the meat inside tasted like raw meat for the deserts I tried baklava it was real crunchy and the stuffing was bad too. I didn't really have a good time eating at this restaurant
