We heard Dominick's is a great steakhouse in Scottsdale. Although the service was very good, there were a couple of big miscues that warrant me only giving 3 Stars, and a mediocre experience overall.
We started off w/ the West & East Coast oysters. The oysters were good for the most part, but one of my six had an off taste.
My NY steak was nicely charred on the outside. However, the center was cool. On the other hand, the sides were very good. The potatoes were crispy, and the snap peas were crunchy. Lastly, the beignets were a good rendition of a N'Awlins fave. They were light & airy.
Kelsey was an awesome waitress! She was friendly & warm, and informed us of the items not on the menu.
Regarding the ambiance, we would have known more about it, had they seated us in the main dining area or bar. They sat us in one of four shitty tables behind the bar. You couldn't see anything from where we were. I like people watching in a place like this. I would rather have sat in the bar at a high top w/o a res, vs sitting in one of the four shitty tables in the back w/ a res. There were so many staff running about. It did not sit well with me that we were seated at such a shitty table w/ a res.
All in all, a ho hum experience after spending $550 for two. Dominick's was supposed to be the highlight dinner of our trip: Thats why I booked it on Sat night. It was the worst dinner we had in Scottsdale. I have been to top steakhouses across the country (Peter Luger's, Gibson's, Joe's, Smith & Wollensky, Mastros, The Palm, Capital Grille, and Flemings), and Dominick's was underwhelming AF: I will not return.
