Don Burrito

A nice restaurant that's been around for 20 years. The food is reasonably priced. The staff is friendly. Lots of options on the menu to choose from. My go-to order is the steak torta. Miguel the manager will take good care of you!

I usually get delivery. The food is always excellent. I moved to the neighborhood two years ago and have been ordering from them weekly since then. There is always a nice note on the bag too. 🙂

Miguel was very accommodating and gave an excellent service. Salsa was perfect. Food was satisfying but too oily to my taste.

No hay burritos en Mexico, I replied without raising my voice, knowing full well this was a controversial issue. The burrito in México is a different animal all together. In I went, hopeful, but not ecstatic, this was not my first fiesta brava. I ordered some turkey-breasted mezcal and drank it down like tequila - Hidalgo! Before long and before you’d know it out was carried a burrito on a porcelain plate. Salsa, beer, and three mariachis followed in swift succession. Although the burrito was on the small side, the atmosphere was festive, the service attentive, and the overall experience muy padrisimo - absolutamente recomendado 🌮

Never thought I’d say this for a Mexican restaurant, but the food had no seasoning. Honestly I had more authentic Mexican food in Tacobell. Just look at the picture, that pic is screaming “add color and seasoning to me”.The staff couldn’t get the order correct. They kept coming out with new plates and taking them back to the kitchen.

It is so hard to find good Mexican food in New York City. I am crying. Bland, boring, and slow. That is what I thought of this restaurant. Nothing really good, but nothing too terrible, save for the salsa which is absolutely terrible. The burrito is barely edible. It tasted like they took it out of a box and heated it up in the oven. The Mexican rice and refried beans are not bad, but when you have burrito in your name, it must be good. Sadly, it is not. The tortilla soup is not much better either. Barely any cheese, and too many tortilla strips. Add in some chicken and I will be happy. This let me down. If someone can get me some tissues, that would be great.

Amazing little spot. You get what you pay for so cannot complain about anything. Food is seasoned and cooked well. The salsa and chips they presented us with were FRESH. The host was lovey. Margarita and Michelada were great and affordable prices at less than 7$. This is like difficult to find anywhere. The margarita did taste like bottled lemon juice or lemonade, but like I said, you get what you pay for and everything was top notch at that. As for the atmosphere, they play Mexican music in the background at an appropriate frequency. The decor is vibrant and heart warming. And they also have out door heaters :)

We've been coming here for nearly 10 years and they've never disappointed us. They are always kind and the food is always so yummy. Their hot sauce is amazing. Steak campanseno is my favorite and the flan is awesome. One of my favorite places to eat

This place is awful. Awful service, awfully overcooked food, and an awfully forgetful staff. After the server served us our drinks he forgot about us completely for half an hour to forty minutes. We had to go up and remind him of our existence! He forgot my beer and needed to be reminded about the food. He claimed it would be 6 more minutes with a look of surprise on his face. Lo and behold it was within 50 seconds that he brought it out. When the food came it was overcooked, under seasoned, and dry as the Sahara desert. I will not be coming back. In fact, go around the corner to much superior El Paso restaurant.

Don burrito is a staple in the neighborhood. I'm so happy it's there. Everyone is very attentive when taking your order. I've never had any issues ordering with them. The guac is always made fresh. The shrimp fajitas are my faves. All of the fajitas come out on a sizzling cast iron plate. Their sangria is amazing and always has fresh grapes and apples in it. We always get the pitcher because it's so good. It's the best in the summertime.

So far I've had the Norteno and Mexicana burritos via delivery. Food arrived timely and piping hot. The steak tasted great and the rice had great texture, but was pretty bland. The guacamole was awful. It didn't seem fresh to me at all.

I very very very rarely give bad reviews, so you know you did something wrong when I give one star This review is for delivery. We decided to order in on Friday night, because I mean, who wants to spend Friday night cooking and doing dishes. We ordered quesadillas and two horchatas. The food itself was fine, but while unpacking it we saw that the horchatas were missing. So we decided to call the place to report it. And that's when the adventures started. We called to tell them about the missing horchatas, and they immediately hung up on us. We called back, and this time a very rude lady answered. She complained about being very busy, and then got impatient and started yelling at us. Eventually said she will send the delivery guy back to refund us the money for the horchatas. After that she yelled "bye" in a very rude manner and hung up again. The delivery person came back ten minutes later. He tried to give us the money we gave to him as a tip, and apologized to us about keeping the tip...wtf. We don't want his tip money back, we just want the store to refund the fucking horchata. We called the store again. After five minutes on the phone with the wicked witch herself, the delivery guy just pulled out some money from his wallet and gave it to us. The guy seemed apologetic and dismayed, so I don't blame it on him. Rather the store for being incredibly rude and unprofessional. Food is decent, but the lady who answers the phone is just horrendous. How the hell can you work in customer service with an attitude like that?

This is my favorite place to get take out in Ditmas Park. The food is surprisingly healthy and the prices are very reasonable. My recommendations are the enchiladas verdes, the enchiladas ranchers, and the quesadilla. I've also had the shrimp fajitas which are great!!

Beyond excellent customer service I will be coming back the food is well !! Priced the drinks as well the margaritas were only $6 I will be back thank you

I've been going to this restaurant since 2013 when we moved to the neighborhood. I love them!!! All the food on their menu is healthy and authentic Mexican. Prices are reasonable. Sometimes we order home delivery but honestly I love just going there to have my favorite quesadillas, chicken soup and sangria. It always feels like home. For years we see there the same stuff, it's a very family neighborhood place almost not noticeable from the street. Highly recommend them .

I had a craving for Mexican and since I was in the area, I decided to stop in. The restaurant screams Mexican culture with its colors, textures and patterns. I greatly appreciated that aspect of it. After looking over the menu, I decided on chips and guacamole (esp since Yelpers raved over it). The time it took for just one order of chips and guacamole was close to twenty minutes. The restaurant was not busy at all with only a family who already was eating when I walked in as well as a couple who had just received their meals before I ordered. When I went to pay, I was told the minimum for debit/credit card is $10. So I looked over the menu and order the mini steak burrito, which was categorized under the kids menu. The steak mini burrito took another 15 minutes, totally close to 40 minutes. The service is slow. Having waited quite some time, I was anxious to munch on chips and guacamole since that is one of my fav things to eat. Nope, not this. Guacamole is subpar at best. I like my guacamole with a little kick. This one he none of that and was bland. Additionally, because I had to order another item, my chips weren't warm anymore. As for the mini steak burrito. The word slim best describes the burrito. However, it is on the kids menu so I was not expecting a humongous stuffed burrito but I wasn't expecting that size as well. The burrito was accompanied with yellow rice and veggies and refried beans. Overall, I enjoyed it. I'd get a burrito again. I'm not counting this place out. I'll return for a full-fledge meal.

Horrible food, horrible service, horribly small portions. Waitress spoke no English. We waited 40 minutes after ordering for our food. We both were hungry 30 minutes after leaving. Food had no flavor.

Overall the best Mexican restaurant in this part of brooklyn!!! I've been going to this place for over 10 years and the food is still amazing! Anything you order on the menu is just filled with flavor! Quesadilla hacienda. carne asada chicken quesadilla and not to mention the chips and salsa are to die for!!! Grade A

I always asked for that place or I went because I love that food, and when the guy takes me to the phone he is very kind patient and respectful. but let me tell you that the lady who also answers the phone needs a lot of patience and professionalism. SHE IS A DETESTABLE PERSON. It is very sad that for people like her, many clients move away from certain places.

If you're in a mood for HOT SOUP, then have the chicken or tortilla soup. Best soups I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant in a long time! I rarely write reviews, but had to spread the word... Enjoy!

This little restaurant might go unnoticed but it's worth a visit. This is not your corner, greasy spoon. It is what actual families in Mexico would eat in their own homes on a daily basis. I love the hacienda quesadilla. My brother likes the porkshop with the potato. My husband likes the sausage dish with the egg on top. The guac is fantastic and the staff is wonderful.

50$ for 3 old burritos put in the MICROWAVE? Fucking DISGUSTING. I immeadietly left. NEVER coming back. I wish I could give this 0 stars if I could. Why would the whole plate be hot but the burrito inside was cold? MICROWAVES. Do NOT eat here. Waste of time and money.

Kinda disappointing. Anyone who reads my reviews knows the special place in my heart for Mexican food. Sadly this place was not that great. While the service and live music was lovely my food was not...at....all I ordered chicken tacos with a side of pinco de gaio and the chicken was INCREDIBLY DRY even after adding additional sauces to it. In addition to the chicken being dry it was also bland. My friend said that her food was a bit better but that her chicken was also on the dyer side of life. I would be willing to try this place again...maybe ...probably not

I have to say, the east coast sucks at mexican food (california girl here!) but this has been consistently the best option for burritos and tacos I've come across since moving to Brooklyn. Going vegan narrowed my options down but still had to come on here and show my love for the place that hit the spot when I was craving good burrito!

The food was okay. The service was ridiculous. I came in for takeout for 1 dish, it took FOREVER to get my order. While I sat and waited 20 minutes, I asked for complementary chips like the other tables were eating. They said $2 extra since I wasn't eating in the place. No thanks. Then they tried to charge me extra for hot sauce (WHO DOES THAT) and when I asked why, they started talking sh*t about me in Spanish as I was standing in front of them. I confronted them, they rolled their eyes, and I exited their dusty restaurant - having paid $12 for a dish that was listed as $8.75 on the menu. Jerks.

I only had one dish, the burrito poblano. It was ok, but it didn't give me the feeling that I want to come back. Service kind of slow, but not terrible.

Super unprofessional. I called to make an order out for delivery and was hung up on twice, while speaking English. I had my sister I law call who speaks Spanish and they took her order very politely. Bottom line is if you speak Spanish go here, if not... You will receive horrible service.

I had to give them a mark just to post my comments, the lady that answers the phone for deliveries need a courtesy class, the delivery person never called and the food was never delivered after two calls being told they were on their way. Horrible service waste of time..

Our search for good Mexican food within reasonable driving distance continues. Based on the stellar Yelp reviews we came. The food was fine, not memorable. It's been less than week, and I have no recollection of what we ate. No complaints about service. If we lived around the neighborhood, we would probably drop in once a while for a bite to eat. But it was a bit of drive for us, so we won't be coming back. If you live in the neighborhood, it's a fine local place to eat.

If you are alright with so so service, the Don's burritos are for you. Maybe the best burrito in Brooklyn. I stop here usually on Mondays and Friday for lunch (they sometime open later than usual). I tried all the burritos, all of them were good. I even eat them 3 hours later when I'm in a rush, and they still taste great. But, as good as the burritos, be prepared to wait. Come before you are starving, and you will still be happy with the place.

Just moved out of Flatbush after living there for almost 4 years, and I'll definitely be missing this place. Cute and comfortable hole in the wall Mexican joint. One of the best in the neighborhood without a doubt. Great prices, food, and atmosphere. Don't expect 5-star dining, the veggies aren't always the freshest, but I never had a bad meal here. 100% recommend if you're in the area looking for some Mexican comfort food.

I'm not a fan Mexican food but my sister was on a mission to change my mind. It's a hole in the wall but I didn't expect much. I had the guacamole and chips and the shrimp fajita and it was delicious. I paired my fajita with a glass of Chardonnay. The guacamole had to be the freshest guacamole I've ever tasted. I left with a food coma, they give you so much food! Would definitely recommend this place.

My family has been coming here for years. Over time the portion has gotten a lot smaller but still very tasteful and filling. They have a large food selection and the wait staff is great. Although the place is kind of small the restaurant definitely shouldn't go unnoticed

I go to Don Burrito simply to order the guacamole..... Yes guacamole and it is DELICIOUS! I always get treated really nice when I go there. When I sop by for dinner.... I will surely update my review...... People try the GUACAMOLE.....YUMMY YUM YUM..... LOL!

This one is the best Mexican place around the area. They have the best veggie burritos!

We have been to Don Burrito's several times and always wonder why it is not mobbed. The food is always fresh and the wait staff, while not always the quickest, are very friendly and helpful. I recommend the salad with the grilled chicken which is outstanding in its simplicity and taste. For those who like heavier food, try the burritos and nachos...both are packed with flavor and have enough meat and cheese to last you a week!

I live in the area and order from Don Burrito a few times a month, it's a good solid delivery standby when my husband and I are craving Mexican. We don't eat at the restaurant much, but when we do we find it very kid-friendly. I like their guacamole, and they do a good chicken burrito, the steak and onion one is good too. Last time I ate there I asked the waiter what his favorite dish was and he said the spinach enchiladas. I ordered them and OMG they are incredible! They are in a green sauce and simply to DIE for. Order them, you won't be disappointed. The only item I don't like is their rice. UPDATED: I have since discovered the Hacienda Quesadilla. My favorite thing on the menu. And their house salad. Yes, really, it's super good with lots of avocado and a green cucumber (?) dressing that is super yummy.

My love affair with the Burrito Norteno began when one night the Fishermans Cove was out of food. I haven't been back since. Newkirk Plaza has never been the same again. While I love and appreciate family owned businesses, my experiences here have been iffy as everything moves as slowwww as molasses here. Don't come here hungry, you may faint!

Yay, this place is great!!! I've lived down the street for 2 years and never tried it until now. I've always gone to Cinco de Mayo which seems more neighborhoody being on Cortelyou and all, but I have to say, Don Burrito's food is better. No question. I got chicken enchiladas rancheras, BF got something with pork, and we split steak nachos. The nachos were served individually topped - I love them this way. All the meat was tender - not dry (like CdM). My enchiladas were covered in lots of slightly browned cheese - not authentic Mexican but 100% up my alley. Drinks were cheap, service was great. Even the music was good. I feel a little guilty about it, but this is my neighborhood Mexican place from now on.

A friend took me here for a quick bite. It is truly a gem hidden between MTA's construction high fences. I didn't even know it exist until he pointed the restaurant out. The decor e.g. mini-Aztec fountain on counter (remember drainage system from Machu Picchu?) was nice, the staff was friendly and the music was not too loud. We ordered Burrito Poblano and Burrito Norteno for take out. Both dishes come with Mexican rice and Refried beans. The rice was soft and fluffy, and the refried beans was moist. Now comes the burrito: the mole poblano sauce was slight spicy, with melting cheese on top. The chicken pieces was a little dry, but with the sauce it tasted better. Although I am not a big fan of cheese, so I took the cheese topping out, the chicken and the mole sauce combination was still good. My friend's Burrito Norteno was really tasty. It came with sour cream and guacamole, two of my favorite Spanish cuisine ingredients in one dish, yummy! I am planning to try more on their menu.

Order the side (about $3) and it's enough for 2-3 people. I also tried the horchata which was not the best, and the salsa is too mild, but once you have the mole you will be happy!

I've ordered from once, and carried out the other time, and I was not displeased either time. Their nachos are made extremely well and the cheese that covers them is fantastic. Adding a protein to it is also a nice option. The burrito I ordered the first time lasted me two days which was a nice surprise. It was also great that it came with rice and refried beans. I'm excited to try more new things here! Definitely try out their chicken soup, a small order actually has quite a bit if you're ordering in and it's got lots of good stuff in there. Chicken, avocado, carrots, potatoes, and cilantro I believe. All I know is mmmmmmmmm!

A nice sit down place to have a family dinner. The food is good, portions are small but just enough. The lemonade is so good and I love the free nachos and salsa.

moved to this area in November 2011. Food is great. We order at least once a week. I always get it to go, but I will dine in one day. Options are great and flavors are on point. Worth a try.

After trying most of the Mexican places (and trucks) in the neighborhood, this is the one. And I was stupid for passing by for so long. Review based on Carne Asada, Tacos Al Pastor, and Tacos Cochinita, beans and rice. Relatively cheap, friendly service, and just great food. I did take out once and it was fine. Miles better than the trucks, the place on Cortelyou, and (God forbid) Chipotle.

My April fools day OK listen to this people I need all the opinions around Why ? because I'm angry and like to know who's the crazy one here :) Dulce: i decided to order food from a Mexican restaurant around my house i was lazy didn't want to deal with cooking :) Well me here picky eater. I order a carne asada change the rice beans for salad and i clearly said no cheese no sour cream i hate them. also said i need a really spice sauce Deliver: Get here guess what no salsa they send me rice when i clearly said what i want and what i don't need. Dulce: I call angry delivery took forever to get here 2. food was wrong owner: of the restaurant answers the phone first thing shes says well we charge extra for the salsa (which i didn't have a problem) she was angry talking to the customer pretty nasty and she said who are you to change my menu ( i answer well no i didn't it says on the menu if you don't like rice and beans you could get salad) I told her don't you know that customers are always Right she answer back really nasty telling me i was not going to teach her how to run her business i told her well i been coming to your restaurant for about six years now and this is the way you treat your customers (guess what she hang up on me) Angry Dulce: Calls back angry owner answers the phone I said send someone to pick up the food i don't want it. I ask her to take the charge out of my card i was not going to pay for something i didn't like. i was so mad i wasn't hungry anymore. Angry owner: says you go ahead have it. now the mexican way (comeeeetela muy sucia yo tela regalo con el tono de verdulera) she said eat it have it but the nasty way really dirty mexican slang. She also said not to go her restaurant she doesn't care for my business. all end up pretty bad the food still in my fridge. i was encabronadisima why? because the conversation was in Spanish all the time so she knew i'm mexican so she can treat me like shit she knows that i'm not going to do anything. Now if it was any other race speaking English the situation was going to be different Question????? Do you like to know the name of the restaurant? Who's nuts here? i need a number where i can call to make a big complaint so this is where i need your help people :) I know it sound crazy but come on people not one person has the right to disrespect you like that. That was my miserable April fools day. and trust me it was not a joke this angry owner is mean. Now i have to say the carne asada is delicious Mean people SUCK

I upped my rating one star because we have identified the problem here. Alas, it is the owner. She runs hot and cold. When she's nice, everything is great, when she's in a bad mood (or whatever her problem is), you better hope she's not serving you. The only time we are ever charged for hot sauce is when she writes up the check. We have popped in, only to walk right out when we see she is waiting tables alone. Also, the TV is no longer much of a problem. Now that's done, I must say the food is still superb, and all the other waitstaff are very nice. The Mojarra Frita (fried tilapia) is not on the menu, and they don't always have it, but when they do, it is beyond delicious. The price varies, but who cares! This is still one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and if the owner stops having mood swings, I'll add another star.

The best chicken mole poblanos out there, and the price can't be beat. Generous portions, and even when the beans were a little burnt, we ate them anyway. Small place, not much to rave over, but who cares, it's clean and right off the train.

Agreeed if your craving tacos do not go here it only come with the meat and taco bread , if you want cheese lettuce and sour cream it cost extra like the tacos already suppose to come with that ? What type of restaurant does that never heard of that & they service is HORRIABLE that talk shit all day do not go here
