The Essential Guide to Hialeah Restaurants | Eater Miami

"The ideal spot for a good meal and a good time. Must-have items on the menu include the finger-licking camaron a la francesa (shrimp in a parmesan cream sauce, served with Hawaiian plantains), salmon cilantro, and the traditional seafood rice dish, paella. Stop by the outside bar for happy hour and light bites with occasional live music." - Eater Staff

Google
Wow this place took us by surprise it was recommended to me by a Miami Springs Local. The food and service and prices was surprisingly amazing. If you like to venture off the normal this is the place for you it did not disappoint.

Jessica pierce

Google
We had the conch fritters and calamari for an app ama both were delicious. For our meal we thoroughly enjoyed the paella. It was so good!!! Our waitress was Maidelin and she was absolutely wonderful. Our drinks were always full and she gave great recommendations. We will be back!

Sara Freire

Google
The food is absolutely delicious, Maidelin was great! She gave us some recommendations, besides she was incredibly friendly! Again, the food is amazing and it is a MUST GO if you’re in Miami!

Phupha N.

Google
The staff are very friendly. Fried seafood ceviche is nice. And i had fried red snapper with sauté broccoli and plantain. Ending with tres leche, too sweet for me but it was good.

Maria Gallardo

Google
Food was espectacular. Hot and beautiful decorated. We ordered paella and added lobster, which was during happy hour and got a great price. The conch fritters were delicious and done perfectly, as well as the jalea. Last but not least, our server Kiara, very attentive and friendly and very polite, not to leave out, pretty. We love coming here.

Felipe Andrade

Google
Tried this Cuban seafood spot for the first time and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was friendly and welcoming, and the prices were great. Amazing quality definitely coming back!

Google
Food, service, everything was exceptional! I loved the seafood soup that our server recommended- didn't smell fishy at all which I'm very sensitive about. They know how to cook seafood for sure! 한국인 입맛에 잘맞는곳!!

Agnes X

Google
Absolutely wonderful place. They have the best seafood food. Staffs are so friendly. love this place!!

Yelp
I went to the little market next to the restaurant for a minuta sandwich. Let me tell you this little fast food section exceeded my expectations. This section is all in the open with TV playing sports and light music in the background. The waitress was very polite and gave us suggestions of the menu. She kept checking on us throughout our meal. The minuta was delicious and fresh, paired with some fries and a beer. You can't go wrong. I will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Went back recently and had their large fish soup and let me tell ya it was soooo much better than the first time I tried it. Don't order the small, just get the large . The small is super tiny. Like barely half a cup of soup. The large was better because it had more fish pieces and veggies. Came out hot and it the spot. The grouper was again the winner for me.

Yelp
Incredible!!!!! Wow. Definitely in my top list for seafood in Miami. Its a nice Cuban joint up in Hialeah, its lively and they have live music at night. Its a great spot for FRESH fried fish. I highly recommend la Minuta sandwich -- delicious! The service is nice, they try to be as quick as possible and let you know of their deals. They have beers buy one get one some nights. It's a nice vibe to come grab a bite if you're craving some fish !!! Come check it out, I recommend.

Yelp
We were looking for seafood in Miami, we passed by Don Camarón Seafood Grill & decided to try it. Ambiance was nice with lots of fishing decor, we were greeted by the staff & shown to our table. We saw quite a few people ordered the fried fish, we decided to go for that. They brought out a couple of raw fish for us to preview. We chose our fish. Ordered a lime mojito... Hey you are in Miami . The fish was nicely fried, fish [fried Red Snapper} it was not overcooked. It was crispy in the outside & the flesh was juicy & tender. We had the t with yellow rice & fried sweet plantains. The flavour of the yellow rice was so good. Fried sweet plantains is one of my favourite. Our friends had the steak & they said it was good. We ended up with the tre leche cake, it was a little too sweet for us. We didn't like it however if you have a sweet tooth, that will be heaven for you.

Yelp
Bring your appetite! This place is delicious with excellent service. 3 of its shared a paella for 2. Had plenty of everything. Ambiance is very relaxed. Nothing fancy just yummy food.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and nice staff... But the food was uneventful and kind of bland... I had the oysters and I had the fish sandwich... Neither had any flavor
google avatar

Yelp
Parking is tight and not very good, it is well located with good food, service, ambiance, food portions and pricing. We had a large cream of shrimp appetizer that was excellent tasting then followed it up with a Mahi sandwich and Cilantro Salmon with shrimp both delicious finished the lunch meal with a small cortadito coffee. I rate this place about 3.75 stars.

Yelp
Uff I haven't visited this place in ages Happily surprise with the menu. I tried the lunch bowls and a glass of white wine Perfecto! Flavor and portions are adequate I enjoyed very much Easy parking on front (lunch time gets busily after 12:30ish so be prepared ) but you will find a parking space Easy on and out from Douglas Rd. Service is attentive. Recommended for a power and happy lunch while on the area

Yelp
If you're in the area and craving seafood, I'd suggest this family style/low key restaurant, Don Camarón. It is about 30-40 mins from me but we don't mind the drive and have visited several times through the years, including today. No reservations required, even with big parties like my family and I, and service is usually very good. Things I recommend: -shrimp ceviche (fish one doesn't always have a lot of flavor) -whole fried snapper -breaded snapper fillet -fish fingers for kids -shrimp in creole or garlic sauce or a la francaise -salmon with shrimp -fried fish bowl & shrimp bowl -fish sandwich For sides we usually do white rice, yellow rice, fries, maduros or tostones. These I have not found enjoyable and no longer order them. -fish soup (not too much flavor) -fried snapper fillet (figured it would be better than breaded, but I was wrong) Desserts: I've had the 3 leches, flan and crème brûlée and they've always been good. Finish off with a colada :)

Yelp
Gabriel gave me an excellent service, letting me know about the specials , tha menu items and happy hours info. Food was good , Music was moderate abd everything looks clean. definetly very different from the pasts time i came. I will recmend my friends to come and eat here, plus I will make it my Wed dinner place.

Yelp
Worthy of a second stellar review! My husband and I stopped in around 4:00 for "linner" (lunch/dinner ). Great service from Gabriel, fantastic specials and relaxing atmosphere in the middle of one of Miami's busiest streets. We had the fish chicharrones, DC tacos and the grilled octopus. Every bite was delicious, fresh from the sea and seasoned to perfection. Don Camarron making your seafood dreams a reality on the daily!
google avatar

Eli S.

Yelp
Every time I come here I leave happy. They had the Pacifica beer on sale BOGO oh yeah. It was light and cold. We ordered a dozen oysters (duh) the freshest in Miami. They were big and delicious. Since it was lunch we ordered the mahi sandwich yummy, my hubby the minuta and my son the seafood soup. Everything was delicious and our waitress super nice and attentive. But the best thing are the OYSTERS !!!'

Yelp
Always a good time at the Don Camaron, great service and delicious seafood. My wife and me love the fish chicharrón and the fried whole snapper, and their tartar sauce is fire.
google avatar

Ines R.

Yelp
Been here twice and it's consistently good. We always get the same thing. The pan con minuta. So yummy. They have 2 sides a sit down section and an outside more casual section in the back. Service is good and fast.

Marisa R.

Yelp
Soooooo yummy. I got the shrimp salmon with the cilantro lime sauce. It was so flavorful. The sautéed broccoli was amazing too. My boyfriend loved the crème brûlée. He said it was one of the best he ever had (and he's been to a lot of places) & Dana, our server, was amazing too! We will be back whenever we come back to Miami!

Yelp
Visiting from out of state, wanted to find a yummy lunch spot and couldn't have been more pleased. Shared 3 dishes with my husband, and we loved the customer service and delicious flavors of all the dishes. Next time we'll order a drink because all the concoctions coming from the bar looked great!

Rafael C.

Yelp
Food no good soup is water waitress says there's no sandwiches but yet the people that came after us ordered sandwiches to go. I'll never go back to this place and the seafood inside the soup was hard as a rock.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in awhile after a few bad experiences with their delivery but I recently went back & it was VERY good! Food was great & so was the service. I had the SALMONCILANTRO WITH GRILLED SHRIMP & my dad had the CEVICHE DE CAMARON. For dessert, we split the BAHAMA MAMA (coconut rum tres leches). Everything was fresh, flavorful & absolutely delicious. Will remove from my blacklist & will def be back :)

Yelp
This is a difficult one, I settled on 3 stars because food was good but service was something I have never experienced before. We arrived late, about an hour before closing. Half the restaurant had patrons other half had the chairs up, we were seated by what felt like a very reluctant waitress. We were rushed into ordering literally the second we sat down they needed to know what we wanted. My bf asked if everything on the menu was available being that they were closing soon, the waitress confirmed yes and we ordered calamari and paella . Calamari came out, crispy, golden and had a great flavor; paella was good, a bit soupy, not quite the crispy bottom but it was quick and only $20, more than enough for 2 people. This came with a side, we opted for maduros; which were perfectly cooked. Where did it go wrong, you ask? We are not big drinkers, and we ordered water... so the waitress who was so reluctant to seat us says to my bf in Spanish "with that face you don't drink?" I was taken aback, she made a few more comments about him before we both told her again "just water". I'm a huge fan of friendly service just not quite that friendly. Just a very odd experience, from not wanting to take new customers when we walked in, to flirting with a man in front of his gf... being in Miami you expect things like that to happen at a club or bar, but not at places like Don Camarón. I'd like to say I'd go back... but I'd rather have my dinner without the side of disrespect.

Yelp
Was in the area for a might between flights and looking for a good quick seafood place. I found this place on yelp and thought I would walk by to check it out. The express side (open air /order up/takeout) caught my eye as easy and good to take back to the hotel. And, luckily, I right! This place was fantastic for a HUGE piece of grilled fish with yellow rice and black beans. I believe it was the "fish bowl" and it was awesome for $10! Definitely Tons of food- I believe it made 2 meals for me. The young lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. All of the other food on the line looked amazing also. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Next time, I will have to try their dine in option, but this was perfect to - go. Enjoy!

Yelp
Great Sea Food and Beverages especially the home made lemonade that tastes like my dad's. The Service is wonderful by all the waitresses, but GLORIA is superb and always stands out. I've been coming here for years and will continue as long as the food & service maintains the same.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
Delicious food, fast, and great service. Lorena attended us and was kind and knowledgeable about the whole menu. Will certainly be back to try more!
google avatar

Moustafa H.

Yelp
They are the worst. They added 20$ in non sense charges. When asked the manager what are these charges he said it is what it is. This is how the restaurant works. They added 14$ in service charge other + open appetizers 3$ which we don't know what is it for. They didn't even try to make it right. Please check the bill before you pay!!

Yelp
I found this place just driving by one day and decided to try it with my parents. The camarones al ajillo was to die for. I couldn't get over it. Was left over i put it over my rice and it just tasted amazing. I was pretty sad once I finished it and I can't wait to go back
google avatar

Yelp
The best ceviche and fritura de bacalao (fried cod) that I've eaten in a while. We tried them at Carnival on the Mile. Excellent. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This is a great place to have seafood. It is located on 37th avenue across the Miami City Casino and the restaurant has a parking lot for customers. I've come here twice, both times for lunch during the week. The first time I had the salmon cilantro which was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The second time I came, I had the shrimp creole with white rice and plantains, very good as well. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. I recommend the lemonade they have, it's served frozen (frappe style) and it's flavorful as well. If you love seafood, you should try this place.

Yelp
I had a very bad experience today. January 30th 2024. I placed an order, I asked that everything be brought at the same time. Everything was not brought at the same time, I asked for sauteed broccoli, the broccoli was not sauteed, then. I returned it and they said, oh, I'll sautee it for you, and they brought it sauteed and it didn't have any garlic ana it was burnt, and then I asked for Krispy chicharones de pecado and they were not crispy I asked for the minuta fish sandwich. It tasted awful. I had a really bad experience. I don't recommend this place. I've been here many times before and this was the worst experience. I don't plan on coming here anytime soon. The manager who I called because of the broccoli was not satisfied that he would sautee. It did not ask me for a refund. He took it and said he would salt it with garlic. He brought it back. It was not salted, it didn't have any garlic. And he was angry and he was not serviceable or pleasant. I ordered 2 mojitos and neither had sufficient alcohol in it. I did not experience a good mojito. There

Yelp
The food maybe good, but. I will leave at this for now. Since I need more words to piost, empathy has much to be desired.

Yelp
Don Camarón crema de camarón is still legendary. They remodeled since I was last there. Everything was very nice and clean. Service was typical loud Cuban style - friendly but not overly professional. I found the prices had gone up considerably but that's the economy. Not much you can do there. I used to go all the time. Now I'll go once a year.

Maribel C.

Yelp
I never go wrong with seafood in this place and service with Helga is great! Try natilla catalana as dessert you will get hooked
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the best values you can get in take out or dining in. Really great meals at great prices. The Swai, is tender, flaky and very tasty. Seafood is always fresh well prepared and delicious. It seems to be one of the few restaurants that haven't raise their prices. That's probably why they're always so busy. Meals come with two sides, we ordered salads and mashed potatoes both were great. If you're in the mood for some seafood this is your spot. It's unassuming and just what you're looking for. I always order the calamari as an appetizer and it never disappoints.

Yelp
Visited today for Mother's Day and everything was excellent the food was delicious and service was outstanding, and we had a large group with two kids. I will definitely return keep up the good work. melany was our server
google avatar

Yelp
Wow what a great lunch! Highly recommend the Cilantro salmon and home made red sangria. The entrees come with two sides. I got the yellow rice (yum!) and a side salad. The side salad came with tomatoes, cucumber, onion and really delicious creamy dressing. We had the calamari for an appetizer and it was very fresh and lightly fried with limes. the entree was unbelievable. So delicious. A little pricey for lunch but totally worth it. Huge portion of perfectly cooked salmon with corn and tomato on the side. Service was a bit slow and could improve. Will be back for sure. Thank you!

Yelp
Craving seafood and don't want to go very far and or pay crazy prices? Don Camaron is located adjacent to Miami City Casino and is very busy every time I drive by this restaurant. I had to see what the crowds was all about? I went there on a week day at about 5. At first we were the only guests in the restaurant but filled up very quickly. I'm not sure how normal this is because it seemed like we were there very early for dinner but we just walked in and sat wherever we liked to sit. The menu is impressive. There is a lot of selection in including fish soups, burgers, steaks and chicken in addition to the seafood. We ordered the surf & turf at MP and it was decent for a plat that was shared between two people. This plate was a Lobster tail, churasco steak, shrimp and two sides. The sides ante your choice. We also ordered the mixed jalea appetizer plate which huge. So much fish, calamari and shrimp was served and topped with pickled red onion. All of it was fresh and cooked just right. It was crispy yet tender. Great job There are a few parking spaces right up front but plenty of parking just beyond that small lot. The decor is all nautical themed so you feel like you are at a seafood restaurant by the ocean and the bathrooms are clean. If you don't want to sit inside the restaurant there is an open market right on the side where they are grilling. Looks like you can hangout out there and eat your lunch or dinner.

Yelp
Good luck trying to get someone to answer the phone to answer a simple question. I've been calling from 11:15-11:41. Terrible customer service.

Felix A.

Yelp
The food was very nice, the places looked pretty clean and the service was amazing, and our server Greicy was helpful and very nice

Yelp
Delicious, fresh and quality seafood for a good budget! I ordered Uber eats and it was excellent; the fish bites with fries, the amazing fish soup and though the fish bowl was good, I feel like it lacks some garnish. I went again and brought a friend and our server was Suri, who was really nice and she recommended the ceviche. It was amazing!!!! Check this place out! Enjoy!

Dailyn P.

Yelp
Maravillosa atención de la señorita Greysi, sin duda esta 100% recomendada , pregunten por ella
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
We ordered lunch via Uber eats and it was delivered quickly. For lunch, I had the shrimp tostones, the bacalao croquettes and the malanga fritters. All were delicious. The rest of the food looked good too. I haven't been to the restaurant since before the pandemic, but I'd definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner. Also, if you use Uber eats, I'd recommend that you order everything that you want, because once you place your order, you cannot add any more items.,
google avatar

Hansel M.

Yelp
It's incredible how none of your locations answer the phone. I was calling to make sure you properly made my order as it is for my mother who is a cancer patient, and no one came to the phone neither of the three times I called. Disappointment. Es increíble como ninguna de sus locaciones responden el teléfono. Les marqué tres veces para asegurar que cocinaran el plato correctamente como lo quería mi mamá que es una paciente de cáncer, y nadie vino el teléfono las tres veces que intenté llamar. Fracaso.

Yelp
Went for lunch, ceviche was delicious and fresh, fish appetizer was great. Our server Lorena was great and attentive. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Today we ordered in due to the coronavirus #stayin . We ordered through postmate from Don Camaron and everything we ordered was super delicious . We ordered pan con minuta, frituras de bacalao and sopa de pescado. Everything was more than delicious . I will definitely order from this place again.

Romay G.

Yelp
La comida es excelente. La mesera Maidelin nos trato de maravilla y el ceviche de Moraima es espectacular

Yelp
Probé los tacos dorados de camarón, estaban bien ricos! La piña colada si tenía un toque

Yelp
Are you in Little Havana area of Miami and in the mood for seafood? Have I got the place for you, Don Camaron! This place been around for a few years and the minute you pull up to it and go in everything says seafood and wow, it's good. For those of you that prefieres to eat something else other than seafood they also have chicken, steaks and burgers. i had the pan seared grouper in ajillo sauce and my companion opted for snapper prepared same way and it was unanimous that it was fantastic! Leave some room for dessert because it's prepared in-house and equally as good. 5 stars!

Frank G.

Yelp
Been coming here for about 20 years but something has changed recently. The food portions are now very small and their prices very high. A good example is their Salmon Cilantro entree which is now a tiny piece of salmon for $24 and they even cut back on the Cilantro sauce thereby ruining the flavor. When I told the waitress she basically said it is what it is, take it or leave it. Said they would not change anything. So NOT going back.
