Don Ceviche

I got the Seco a la Nortena, Guacamole with Tostones, Inca Cola and Picarones, and wow was it good!! The Seco a la Nortena, had such a perfect balance of flavors, the beans were creamy, the meat was savory, the rice was the the delivery mechanism, and the onion/tomato salsa was the perfect sour topping. I haven't felt so satisfied after a meal in such a long time, and the seco a la nortena ticked off all the boxes. I tried a few fries, and they were so fluffy and crispy at the same time (how?!). The tostones and guacamole, was also very good. The tostones were so fluffy but crispy, and paired with the creamy guacamole, it was perfect. Lastly, we got the picarones, and if youre familar with Korean Food, it tastes similar to hotteok. The inside was goey, and it wasn't cakey/fluffy like I had expected. Also, huge shout out to the waiter/server! He was so nice, and was so careful with my dietary restrictions. The guacamole does have mayo, but if you let them know your restrictions, they will remove it!! It's a small restaurant, but the food is amazing. I can not stop raving about this place. 24 hours later, and I'm still dreaming about their food! Their restroom is also pretty large and clean, and the service was amazing. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!

The chowder and grilled shrimp skewer were outstanding, both great for their flavor and portions. While the beef heart and ceviche were average, the yuca fries with hot dogs were addictive, and the picarones were excellent. The cozy space and great service made the experience even better.

Love Don Ceviche! Finally got to try their brick and mortar with after frequenting their Essex Street market spot these past few years and had a great time sampling a bunch of dishes with friends. Really enjoyed the anticuchos and their ceviches are always a hit. Also I don’t know if they have special potatoes or something but I swear they taste different from normal potatoes, texture wise. Or maybe I just don’t know how to pick potatoes? Not sure, but they’re delicious. Anyway, looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu soon!

Amazing Peruvian food and excellent service! The spot is quite small and cozy so make sure to get a reservation if you plan on visiting. Highly recommend!

Very delicious ceviche, just like at their Essex Market stand. Great vegetarian dishes, too, and we couldn't stop dipping the crunchy, dried corns into their tasty sauces & marinades. The servers were very attentive and polite. Overall a great, Peruvian owned & operated restaurant, which I never hesitate to recommend to my friends.

As someone who is well traveled throughout Peru, and is married to a fabulous Peruvian woman, I highly recommend Don Ceviche. Authentic Peruvian at its best!

I recently visited Don Ceviche on and had a wonderful experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The standout of my visit was definitely the exceptional service provided by Nicole, my server. She was not only attentive but also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She made sure I had everything I needed without being intrusive, which truly enhanced my dining experience. As for the food, everything was delicious and well-prepared, The portion sizes were generous, and each dish was beautifully presented. I went with what Nicole recommended me and it was delicious. I highly recommend Don Ceviche for anyone looking for great food and top-notch service. Thanks again to Nicole for making my visit so memorable, will definitely come back with my family!

No joke…best spot in NYC, no comparison. Will be going there frequently from now on. Excited to try the rest of the menu. The tostones with guac are a MUST

We got a ton of things, I will talk about each of them 1. The chowder: it's very good and it's my personal favourite, portion is huge I couldn't stop drinking it, it has those small cheese curds in side that are very good, 11/10 2. The grilled shrimp skewer, very big fat juicy shrimp, very delicious. 11/10 3. The grilled beef heart, it was ok, was kinda cold when it got to us somehow. 6/10 4. The mix ceviche, I would say it's normal ceviche, similar to other places I have went to before.6/10 5. Lomo saltado: very dry, didn't enjoy it. 4/10 6.picarones: very good! 7. Yuca fries with hot dogs: it's like crack I couldn't stop eating them. Soooo good 10/10 The service is great and the place is small but cozy.

The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The grilled octopus was delicious and this place has the best potatoes I've had. The anticuchos had a very traditional taste and are definitely an easy introduction to organ meat for any picky easter. For a place named after Ceviche, the Ceviche was a bit disappointing. The flavor and presentation were great but we got a few piece of seafood that were super tough. Picarones are hard to find and these were tasty, though I wish their dough had more flavor. The syrup was also missing a bit of the fruitiness (usually from orange zest/fig) that makes picarones so addicting.

sat down and we were given little corn chips. then very sweet waiter offered us green sauce to try. we put green sauce all over everything else because it was so delicious. nice seats small interior, best food! i dont eat meat. i got mushroom dish

Don Ceviche East village is hands down one of the best restaurants in alphabet city! I was invited to go with my friend who was born and raised in Peru. By her telling me it was good, I knew it had to be the real deal. And it is!! I've gone to this location several times by now, and each time it is better than the last. The ambiance is tropical, charming and welcoming. It is a small restaurant with not much seating, so keep that in mind if you want to go with a large party. I normally order the roasted chicken, sweet plantains, salad, yellow rice and beans with extra green sauce. I dont know what is in the green sauce but i put it on everything and i mean EVERYTHING! The food comes out in a timely manner and its always hot and super fresh. The service and waitstaff are on point, friendly and quick. I would also say they are super patient because the first time I went, i asked soo many question and the person was so helpful and happy to assist me. Its a place you can go for any occasion to get some home cooked Peruvian food!

After the first true summer Saturday in the city, with a white linen shirt draped on my 5'10 174lb frame and one too many Spritzes giving my liver a heavyweight title fight, we were deliberating where to eat dinner. My big bro was campaigning heavily for Don Ceviche as he eats here at least 4 times a week, with big cuzzo pushing for McDonalds. What a dichotomy. I have been toying with going to Peru to do an Ayahuasca retreat over the past few weeks, so I felt like the option of going to a Peruvian restaurant was the universe's way of giving me an omen. Got to follow the omens... Me and big bro entered the tiny interior that boasts an authentically Peruvian atmosphere, as big cuzzo veered off toward the golden arches. The term "hole in the wall" is vastly overused at this point, but Don Ceviche embodies everything about a hole in the wall restaurant in Lower Manhattan. Squeezing MAYBE 20 total seats into a unique elongated footprint, the owner running the floor and directing traffic, the staff all smiles and seemingly genuinely happy to be there, and the food is GOD TIER. I am on a major chicken kick these days so I ordered a half chicken with yellow rice and beans, with my big bro ordering a whole chicken with a side of plantains because he is a PSYCHO. This chicken was unreal. It was a top 3 chicken in New York City, along with Simply Natural Grillhouse and Casa Adela. The skin is perfect, with an ideal amount of char and seasoning that makes you give a verbal "Mmmmmmmmm" on your first bite. The green sauce that they have to accompany the chicken is something that I can't fully articulate. No word of a lie, big bro asked for 4 extra servings of sauce. The servers would just laugh and happily oblige. I want to come back to try some ceviche and other authentically Peruvian dishes, but I'm a firm believer in being able to tell the quality of a place by how good their chicken is. This cozy restaurant may be small, but its beauty and ambiance are remarkable. The food, particularly the baked chicken and delightful yuca fries, is delicious. Additionally, the servers are very friendly.

The food was very good (the ceviche, roast chicken, Madurai's, avocado salad). The sangria was very tasty as well. Nice portions and presentation. Service was excellent. The ambiance is good for families as well as first dates.

The name of the restaurant is appropriate, as the ceviche was superb! The lomo saltado was pretty perfect, the wine just right, and the picarones for dessert were wonderfully delicious! The wait staff were also attentive and friendly. Loved everything about this place! My husband and are from out of town and were lucky enough to get a spot at this small, intimate restaurant without a reservation. However, would absolutely recommend a reservation! Next time we are in NYC, we will be back!

Just ordered food, sad to say I was disappointed . Chicken Chaufa tasted weird. We ordered from here in the past, always like to give a second try. It seems the food is not consistent.

Delicious food, excellent service and cozy atmosphere. Truly recommend The Lomo Saltado is delicious and juicy and the choritos a la chalaca remind me my lovely town Chucuito‍

This is one of the best ceviche spots in the city in my opinion. I have been going to the stand at Essex market for years whenever I've needed a casual takeout dinner so I was super excited about the restaurant opening. My favorite thing here is probably the leche de Tigre but the classic fish ceviche is also worth getting. The causa dishes are probably some of the best I've had if you're looking for a starch heavy app. I also highly recommend the seafood rice (arroz con mariscos) which is a heartier dish as well as the yucca fries. The picarones (fried donuts) are also a must!

The Best Peruvian Food in Town! Just a few days ago I told my sister that I was very disappointed with the food that was coming out of the restaurants I frequented lately. I was losing my appetite to dine at these restaurants--until I walked into Don Ceviche at the East Village on a Friday night. I was taking a stroll through the neighborhood and as the evening approached I was starting to get hungry. As I was trying to decide where to eat my disillusionment with restaurants creeped in. After walking for about 20 blocks we saw from a distance the sign: "Don Ceviche"! I couldn't believe he opened a restaurant right when I needed it! I have eaten the food at Essex Street Market since it opened so I knew the food was very good. I made a bee-line straight to the door. The food at the Market is very good, BUT here it is elevated to Fine Cuisine! It is Delicious!! The proprietor Lenny made suggestions that showcase the cuisine of Peru. We started out with Leche de Tigre, which was a beautiful citrusy consommé with thinly sliced delicately pickled red onions and small pieces of fish that were light but flavorful. It opened the appetite like a glass of Prosecco. Next we had another appetizer that was amazing! It was like a large fluffy potato croquette filled with chopped sirloin steak with a small amount of raisins--lightly sweet and savory--(Papa Rellena) For our entree I ordered the grilled octopus with a chimichurri sauce with new potatoes. The octopus was grilled perfectly and was as tender as butter. My husband had the arroz marisco. It had the texture between a risotto and paella. It was topped with shrimp in a delicate cream sauce, it was amazing. Lenny suggested a white wine that paired beautifully! I was so impressed with the food that I asked who the chef was--Lenny said he was a chef from Peru, his name is Dario. The service was impeccable! The place is small but has a nice Peruvian vibe. The music that was playing in the background was beautiful Romantic Spanish ballads that filled the room. So if you can't afford a trip to Machu Picchu but want a little taste of Peru, make a reservation at Don Ceviche!!!

The ceviche was sooo delish just like how I've had it in peru and overall the seafood ingredients really stood out in both dishes. Wouldn't get the other dish (picante des mariscos ?) because the sauce was too white wine heavy- idk if its supposed to be like that or they just didn't cook it out enough. Also relatively fairly priced and cute and cozy restaurant.

A new favorite! I want to go back several times to try everything. Tonight we started with "El Silencio" ceviche, which is whitefish and onions and a tangy liquid. Then the chowfa mariscos, which was delicious and filling. They have an extra-hot hot sauce if you ask for it. I love the dark Peruvian beer they have in bottles. May go back tomorrow.

We had been patiently waiting for 'Don Ceviche' East Village to open to try the Peruvian cuisine and we were not disappointed. Let me begin by saying the only drawback is the space available in the new east village restaurant. It's small and I only wish they had more space. The interior is very nicely painted and added to the good vibes. The service was fantastic as the owner/manager made sure that all our needs were addressed. The food was excellent, the menu has all the traditional items you'd expect at a Peruvian restaurant and some new tasty items. For example the guacamole is not a Peruvian dish however instead of letting the avocados go to waste they thought about an introduction of guacamole as a appetizer and instead of chips you can dip plantains or yuca, a splendid idea as the guacamole texture was totally different then any guacamole I've ever had. The Sangria was not over sweet and had enough apple piece to soak up the alchoal content. My main dish was octopus. The dish was rather tasty and well prepared and I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a photo. I look forward to going back very soon and enjoy a pitcher of sangria prior to my main course!

Very tight small space. Luckily, I only came with one other person so it wasn't that bad. Waitress was really friendly. We ordered lomo saltado, pollo saltado, tostones, and picarones. Portions were huge, making the menu prices justifiable. The lomo saltado and pollo saltado were alright, they were more like comfort food than a "wow" type of food. I'm not sure what sauce the tostones came with but it tasted a bit acidic and I wasn't a fan of it. It paired better with the green sauce in my opinion. Picarones were pretty good, but there was a yeasty taste to it that I personally did not like. It wasn't overly sweet either which I did like. I'd come back to order tostones again and try other foods on the menu!

Wow, Food is amazing, truly Peruvian flavors I'll definitely go back soon. We needed this restaurant in the Lower East Side
