I am from PR, born and raised. Moved to NY 4 yrs ago so I'm homesick for my food. Went here thinking Id get my fix. I was left with just wanting to go home. I'm so disappointed. The menu? Besides the mofongo, tostones y arroz con pollo, does not offer puertorican food. There is SO much room for improvement. The 3 leches, I dont know WHO thought it could be called that! Thats just an insult on its own. The tostones were good, and so was the rest of the food but definitely not worth what it costs and not to the standard of our food at home.
As for customer service, I went on a tuesday night (8pm), the place was totally empty with the exception of 1 table, and the waiter was just in a rush to get us out the door. Never understood why. We wouldve ordered a few more drinks if we had not felt so rushed.
Also, its a "Puertorican" restaurant! How about the music actually relate to that factor? And not just reggaeton, but other music from our home??? I'm in my 30s and I didnt enjoy having a tuesday dinner with Maluma on the background. And as for the waiters and hosts, how about speaking in spanish if you are dealing with a Puertorican???
So much room for improvement in so many ways. It took me 4 years to try it out and now I know why all my friends like myself from the island tried to persuade me not to go.
Having said this, if you're looking for a nice looking Puertorican restaurant, go here and literally only order what I'm recomending. The rest, is just latin food, but thats about it.
I would've hoped the name lived to the standard us Puertoricans live by in the island. Maybe for Nuyoricans this is ok, but its really not. This is a total disappointment and a shame.
Suggestions: sorullitos de maiz, alcapurrias, bacalaitos, rellenos de papa, chillo frito, majado de malanga, serenata, verduras, mayoketchup without so much garlic, yuca al mojo, carrucho...! And so on...
