Don Juan II

"Moored next to Passerelle Debilly, a footbridge spanning the Seine, on the right bank, opposite the Eiffel Tower, the Don Juan II is a magnificent Art Deco yacht, with sumptuous wood panelling and thick carpet. Embark on a 2.5hr-long sightseeing and gourmet cruise, with an outstanding chef, Frédéric Anton, at the helm! He has selected some emblematic creations from Le Pré Catelan (curry-scented crab, langoustine ravioli, warm chocolate soufflé…) with which to indulge his passengers. As you glide down the Seine, dinner is served against the backdrop of the most iconic monuments of the City of Light, with commentary by the crew." - Michelin Inspector

Fantastic dinner cruising the Seine river! Great tasting menu with incredible wine pairing. The timing of the cruise to be in front of the Eiffel Tower as it started its hourly twinkle was quite beautiful. This was our first dinner in Paris on a week-long culinary adventure and it did not disappoint!

We wanted the best dinner on the Seine, not the cheapest. The chef's menu included caviar & crab, but my fiancee "doesn't eat" fish. The chef accommodated her request for no seafood, but I got her to try each of my dishes, and she loved each one. So, now she does eat caviar (2 kinds) & crab. You should definitely book this dinner & cruise.

We chose this dinner cruise for our first night in Paris on our honeymoon and it did not disappoint! From the standout food, beautiful views, and friendly service, we were impressed with our evening from start to finish. The boat was visibly of higher quality than the other dinner cruises we saw on the river that evening, and that was reflected in our experience. Highly recommend!

#99 in my Parisian Michelin Stars Marathon (follow me for the other reviews). An Iconic dinner This one of the new one star we got in March 22. The review is going to have similarities with the one from the Jules Verne. Indeed, not only it’s the same chef, but one should take in account the same considerations. The consideration being that you have both an insane view, and a Michelin star. There’s a full gastronomic kitchen in the boat that is no small feat as being on a river brings some constraints. Also please divide the price by 3 when you compare to any upscale cosmopolitan Parisian brasserie as you ll be entertained for 3h30 (versus one hour and some change). And yes, also include the price of a luxurious and very spacious boat tour for the same amount of time. What I’m trying to say is that the price/quality/time ratio is actually pretty very good. You’re going to spend a great evening and you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it. Is it for tourist? Well, I would have love to be a tourist, because I think it must be even better. Obviously (if you follow me or if you can hear my accent) I’m French, and based in Paris. This should not be for me… Well, I don’t think so. I think it’s a great hack to receive some friends from abroad for a dinner, and treat yourself with a boat tour on the river that you have never done “because you live in Paris”. So, no it’s not a tourist trap, there are some in Paris, but this one is clearly not. It’s also a great introduction in the Michelin Star world and from there you could guide them towards some other Michelin. For instance, the Pre Catelan where the chef, Frederic Anton, is based. Of course, if you don’t want to jump straight to a 3 stars (although the lunch menu is actually cheaper ), there’s plenty of sub 50€ Michelin Stars. Here the point being, you come here for the view, you may leave wanting to explore more Michelin. The bonus for us was that Frederic Anton was actually there and we got the chance to speak with him. So iconic all along. But I guess my best and final point will be this: Have a look at the pictures and the videos. It’s a well deserved one star with a great night on the Seine. Enjoy.

We've cruised on the Don Juan many times since 2008. It was one of our favorite things to do on our visits to Paris. We loved the the excellent service, food, elegance and of course the beautiful lights at night from the Seine. In the last year or two, the cruise has changed. They now cruise from a pier just in front of the Eiffel Tower which changes the timing of passing the Tower as it twinkles. I've cruised twice since the changes and have not enjoyed the cruise nearly as much. The food is still excellent (vegetarian eaters will not have as good of a food experience); however, there is no longer the elegance of the cheese cart at the end of dinner or the bread service during dinner. There were no cocktails on the roof before the cruise with the staff walking around to take pictures. The staff is not nearly as friendly or what seemed to be experienced. Because of the location of the new pier, the cruise no longer stops under the Eiffel Tower for the twinkling lights after dinner and before dessert to give the opportunity to take pictures on the rooftop. You'll cruise past the Tower while sitting at the table and cruise back shortly after to disembark after the Tower has stopped twinkling. I think that if you're not aware of how elegant and well planned this cruise was previously, you will think this is very nice and have a wonderful time. However, other than it being much less crowded, I am not sure what sets this cruise apart from it's competitors for the price.

We had dinner on the Don Juan II for my mom's birthday. It was a fantastic meal and we had a great experience. I would highly recommend for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries.
