Here’s the Heartfelt Closing Letter for Don the Beachcomber Tiki Bar - Eater LA

"Don the Beachcomber is among the more well-known names in the greater tiki universe, owing to an eclectic founder and a collection of outlets dating back decades. The Huntington Beach location that is closing wasn’t a part of that original chain, but rather a place that had purchased their way into the naming rights and successfully traded against the bygone brand for a decade. Not that casual fans minded much; this was still a busy weekend place for rum drinks and live music within sight of the water. The closure is due to increased rent and development plans for the property." - Farley Elliott

Went on a Saturday afternoon and only the bar area was open at the time. They had karaoke going on with a host who would sing if no one else would. He had a great voice and although karaoke isn't something we're normally in to, we had a good time. There also seems to be a handful of locals that come specifically for the karaoke and they are all pretty good too! The food and service were ok. Not the best but not the worst. If you're going for drinks and fun, this is a good spot. If you're coming for the food, definitely go when the restaurant side is open and you can order from the full menu.

If you go here make sure you have a Zombie...no one else makes them like Dons the Beachcomber! The Mai Tai and Singapore Sling are also delicious but SERIOUSLY nothing beats a Zombie. There's live reggae for a reason on Sundays. Come check out reggae legends as they play the best tunes to dance to. Karaoke at the bar is super fun and a great place to make friends and laugh .

Awesome Reggae Sundays. This place is great. Everyone is there to just enjoy the live band and have a good time. Diverse crowd. Positive vibes. Good food. Live band is top notch. Friendly staff. All around perfect spot if your in the mood to dance, eat, and enjoy good music. I love the fact that all ages are welcomed for Reggae Sundays. Families can come with children. My kids had a blast when they went. Great environment!

Very cool atmosphere and a great place to chill with friends. The drinks are strong, but that's a good thing. Picked up two tikis at their tiki marketplace. The marketplace only runs on certain days.
