"MacArthur Park’s Honduran cuisine institution was founded in 1994 by Olga Ponce, and recently purchased by Sara Mena and her family in 2022, who remodeled the establishment and rebranded the restaurant. It’s now a trendy sports bar with delicious Honduran antojitos and even hosts an annual Baleada Fest. While diners are drawn in by the mega baleada, boasting 18 pulgadas, or 18 inches of flour tortilla stuffed with beans, cheese, scrambled eggs, and avocado slices, the tamales are their own attraction. During the month of December, call in orders for savory nacatamales filled with rice, potatoes, peas, and pork for a soft, creamy tamal that’s traditionally enjoyed with streaks of ketchup on top." - Bill Esparza

"A respected institution in MacArthur Park, traditional cook and Latino community activist Doña Bibi has been cooking stellar Honduran food since 1997 in LA’s biggest Central-American neighborhood. Bibi is very proud of her sopa de caracol, a creamy pot of conch, shrimp, green bananas, yucca, carrots, and cabbage flavored by peppers, onion, and a signature green tint from annatto oil. Baleadas con todo, which are beans, cream, avocado, and egg, are a locals favorite, but for homesick Hondurans, pescado lago de Yojoa, Bibi’s fried tilapia with fried green banana strips and pickled cabbage, is a weekend getaway to the touritic lake on a plate." - Bill Esparza

Now I have tried the food of three Central American countries. I can honestly place Honduran cuisine in third place. Nicaragua #1: Gallo Pinto - a must try. Very unique. El Salvador #2: Pupusas - tasty but too much like gorditas to truly stand out. Good curtido is what makes a good pupusa. Honduras #3: Baleadas - not terribly interesting. Things that stood out: the tajadas. Tajadas are plantain strips quite unlike the other versions of cooked plantains I have tried. They weren't spectacular or anything just unique. I had two Baleadas de Carne Asada. Decent. Baleadas aren't much more than thick flour tortillas with beans and in this case meat. They also come with avocado and eggs. I'm not a fan of eggs. Not even for breakfast. So for me eggs are a weird inclusion. The Baleadas are big and filling. I didn't really like the way they did the carne asada. The Pollo con Tajadas was ok. It doesn't look terribly appetizing. It's very filling. I had guanabana juice and tried the nance juice. Both were good. Honestly the prices of the food are good here. The music was good. No reggaeton lol. They also played some pop en Español. The restaurant looks really cool. It's pretty big and has an outside eating area. I like the decor - maps of Honduras. You get a view of the better parts of McArthur Park. You can also see the DTLA skyline. Service was ok. Nice servers but they are pretty slow and inattentive. Meter and parking lot parking.

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was spectacular—super cozy with a special touch that makes you feel right at home. Everyone there is incredibly kind and attentive, from the staff to the management. A special thanks to Fabricio and the entire team who made it possible for us to celebrate my mom’s birthday. My guests and I ordered a variety of options and it was absolutely delicious; every dish was a hit, and all my guests were happy and satisfied. Bibi’s is the perfect spot for any celebration or just to enjoy a great meal. We’ll definitely be back! A huge thank you for an unforgettable evening!

Amazing food! Very authentic! We ordered the platter for two of us and my mom ordered chuleta con tajadas and was amazing too! Fabricio el mesero muy atento!

Google
Everything was delicious. Great service. Best Honduran food spot in LA. Will definitely come back. Check out the pulpería too next door if you want some Honduran snacks to go

Google
The food is decent. The mega baleada is the size of a large pizza so it may be a little too much if eaten by only 2 people if you're also getting more food. The portions are quite big. I'd return here in the future.

Google
My family and I have been coming to Bibis for years and the baleadas are hands down my favorite.anywhere. I have no idea WHY they are so good here but they are. The new scenery is super nice and I think the change of owners has been a positive. The super baleada was amazing and a sight to behold. The restaurant also had delicious fresh fruit juices and my favorite was the tamarindo. I highly recommend trying Honduran food here if you’ve never had it since this location has been around for years and a staple in this area.

Yelp
Never mind the area. The food is authentic & delicious. My boss literally found this place looking for food in the area. She's such a foodie & so am I. I honestly couldn't remember what she ordered but everything was very tasty! I think we ordered this platter with a bit of everything & whatever we were eating was GOOD! I got the food to go but the restaurant was clean & people were dining inside. It was a little busy which told me the food had to be good! If you're in the mood for something different this is the place! Or grab to go for lunch!

Yelp
You guys have to tried the simple baleadas. It's the only food that I eat for every single day. Las baleadas son deliciosos. The ambiance is so nice it's feel like to be a Central American. El Ambiente es fenomenal, mucho bachata. El servicio los meseros son chicos, the services was so nice recommend only for good "Baleadas".

Emily C.

Yelp
Visiting from Las Vegas so I had to stop in for some Honduran food. Service was mediocre could've improved - Coffee tasted burned with several coffee grains Simple baleada was delicious Honduran breakfast was tasty Went next door to the pulpería - the small store was extremely hot. I was in and out They could improve the customer service by being more welcoming.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING, we ordered pollo con tajadas pierna y muslo, came in big quantities, delivery did take quiet a while but it was worth the wait. i totally recommend, as read earlier the service in the restaurant may not be good, but its fantastic to eat at home.

Yelp
Definitivamente jamas volvere aqui las tajadas demasiadas duras y casi quemadas nada que ver con la foto que publican

Yelp
I visited Doña Bibis Restaurant on a Thursday morning at around 11am, and to my surprise the restaurant was packed-- full of people enjoying their food with punta music playing in the background. What a sight and sign that the food is going to be good! The restaurant is located in a plaza right on the corner of S. Park View st. and W. 7th st; parking is available right in the plaza. The establishment is right across MacArthur Park so you won't miss it. Indoor and outdoor seating is available and they have 2 gendered restrooms for use. I ordered to-go and got the Baleada con todo (Baleada with everything): it included smashed beans, eggs, cheese, cream, and a great scoop of avocado. I asked for a side of picked purple onions and jalapeños, so if you need a type of spice of some sort, make sure to ask them to include it in your order. As always, a common practice is to double check your order; which is why I noticed they hadn't gave me pickled purple onions and jalapeños. I enjoyed my Baleada and I am eager to come again to try other items off the menu. Great local community joint to support.

Sara L.

Yelp
The baleadas are fantastic, and the coconut-based soups are our do this world. Ask for specials but the sopa de caracol, or conch, is delicious.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Sooooo gooood!!! Got the 18" balleada Secilla with chorizo we're coming back and bringing our family There's a park across the street too so it's super family friendly

J C.

Yelp
Two guests. Never offered drinks. Finally took our order. 25 minutes later the waiter brought one order and informed us they didn't have the ingredients for the other order. Crazy bad service. So we split the one order and got a different AVAILABLE second order to go. Food was ok. Service was sad.

Alec A.

Yelp
Taste: Excellent! We got the Catracha sampler platter for 2, and we were really happy with everything. Experience: The waiter was really friendly, warm and welcoming, he was excited to introduce us to Honduran food and had a big smile. The decor is a little tacky, but we like tacky. They have some cozy corners so I think it could be a good place to chill. Mood Before/After: I was having not so great a day before the restaurant, and the vibe really lifted my spirits. Fullness: very very full, we couldn't finish the whole tray. Between 2 people. Probably could split the sampler between 3. What else did I eat/do today affecting my experience: earlier in the day I made some roasted chicken, which was pretty good. I only had one meal, so I was extra hungry.

Vicky G.

Yelp
Extremely slow service. They don't greet you, You have to get your own menu. They take a long time to acknowledge you & take your order. Once your food gets to the table, it's like a ghost town in there. #TerribleService #NoCustomerService #TerribleService #NoCustomerService

Yelp

Yelp
Hello, I am investigating an accident that occurred near your restaurant located at 2400 7th st Los Angeles Ca. This accident occurred on October 14, 2023 @ approximately 930pm. I noticed that there's a camera located on your building and was wondering if by any chance you have a recording of the accident and if so, would it be possible to get a copy of the recording which involves a gray Toyota Prius and a motorized scooter. Any assistance would be appreciated. Yelp
Really good food service is ok but the food takes forever to be made so be prepared to wait

Kim M.

Yelp
When we arrived it wasn't busy at all it was pretty empty besides one other table I ordered pollo con tajadas and some enchiladas which were good however i did order 3 pollo con tajadas and 6 tamales de elote fríos to go. My total for everything was $133. The cashier had given me my order and when i got home i saw i hadn't received my 6 tamales de elote. those alone were about $24. We told our server we were visiting from san diego as well. This was a very disappointing experience and a loss of my money.

Yelp
I have rarely offered a low star review. I generally appreciate the work that goes into making a restaurant and service- it's all forgivable to me. I always look w optimism. I was really looking forward to this place. It looked cheap-ish and really there is very little in that neighborhood if you want to eat before grabbing a show at the Dynasty Typewriter. They have a little outdoor patio overlooking the park, so perfect because contrary to everyone's behavior, the pandemic rates are just as high as they were in delta! Anyways... I know the food would be more in line for my partner who eats meat, but from reviews I knew they could I whip up a vegan plate. It's a very casual type place with some various items for sale inside like oil or canned goods. He got the carne asada plate (14.99 as marked on the menu). I asked for a vegan plate (rice, beans, plantains) - no price on menu since I made it up, but based on other menu items I don't know how it could have been priced at more than $10, but let's just go with 14.99 to be extremely generous. We drank water (not bottled). I should have know something was weird when the person we ordered from said we could pay after ... that don't make much sense, since it's an order-sit-bring it to your table type place. But since we wanted to sit on the patio, we knew we would need to pass the register on the way back out, so seemed fine. Service was good. I took pics thinking this would be an excellent review. It's super tranquil overlooking the park, and it wasn't hot. Food was fine. Mine was exactly as expected - simple and vegan. My partner had what looked like a large dish, he said the meat quality was ok but it wasn't his favorite. So, all in all at this point it was exactly as expected - a supposed to be cheap meal near a venue that otherwise has very limited food options nearby. We were not looking for more that that. Except when we checked out, I could have gone to a trendy hip neighborhood place in my usual neighborhood for the price - $42. Mathematically you can't do it. They simply added a charge or ripped us off as new folks to this establishment. At first I didn't protest because I thought maybe service fee/tip was included. My partner was paying and I just looked over his shoulder, saw $42 and grabbed the menu. There was just no way. Either they ripped us off, added charges, or the menu prices are way off. Then the tip screen popped up, so no, tip not included. My partner didn't ask for a receipt- I don't know what he was thinking. I was actually pretty sad he didn't as I HATE being ripped off. If you are at a stupid arena show and they are charging $14 for aBud Light, at least you know that. But to have someone try to charge you $42 for what could have only been at the extreme highest $30 meal left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. Which is unfortunate because the Dynasty is a cool venue and there are just so few options nearby - if you're like us where you try to eat/drink near where a show you are going to is. Suffice to say, I'll never be back here.

Laura L.

Yelp
Cute simple place with a small parking lot. First time eating Hondureñean food. We went for breakfast and there were a few people waiting for food. They had lots of pick up orders. They sell bread, sweets and other various products from Honduras by the register. Anyway we were greeted and seated instantly. Very friendly girl. We had coffee, a tamarindo, pupusas and baleadas. I hate certain dark beans BUT the baleada was freaking delicious. Just ordered a simple one since I didn't know if I'd like it. Loved it! The tamarindo was home made and so good. The coffee came with a tiny thing of warm milk instead of cold milk/creamer which instantly makes the coffee cold. It smelled good. The pupusas were nice and crisp, not oily. I will definitely be back. My only issues were the lack of soap in the restroom and that the girl was sweeping up from the previous night while we were all eating. Maybe do that before you open up?

Yelp
Excelente lugar para comer , comida muy rica , servicio de primera Todo el personal es amable siempre 110% recomendado

Yelp

Yelp
Good food and friendly service. Definitely try out the Baleadas and the tajadas!!! Hermoso lugar y el servicio fue el mejor.

Angela T.

Yelp
Great food. The waitress even made sure to put on a fresh pot of her favorite type of coffee for me. I felt so welcomed from the very start. I went close to opening time and enjoyed the open, quiet space.

C Z.

Yelp
This is my second time having Honduran food and everything was delicious. We ordered horchatas, the little tostadas, A carne asada plate, and an 18" baleada. Food was fresh and looked even better than the photos. Very friendly staff. Super helpful with explaining items I wasn't familiar with. Absolutely will return again and do recommend.

Jenny O.

Yelp
I was there for lunch yesterday with my husband and his uncle, my first time trying Honduran food but my husband and his uncles are Honduran and have had this type of food all their lives so they recommended this place, service is absolutely wonderful, I speak very little Spanish but they were kind and sweet and took my order kindly while explaining. The gentleman with colored eyes also brought a couple white sauces for me to try with our platter! The vibe is very family oriented, we found parking outside on a Saturday noon with no issue, everyone was working together as a team which is amazing to see. We will definitely return to try more food :)

Shannon W.

Yelp
I went here today with my colleagues and really enjoyed the food. Actually everyone did. My only compliant was that a co-worker received their food way after everyone else did...which really sucked bc she has diet restrictions that prohibited the rest of us from sharing until her food arrived. Anyhow, I had the cheese pupusa, the Baja fish tacos and the soursop drink! It was so much food and reasonably priced. Additionally, I have to talk about the sampler that another colleague had. It was enough food for all of us even though he didn't have to share. The sampler is perfect for an inexpensive date and you will even have left overs. Enjoy! :)

Desiree N.

Yelp
This place sold to New owners a year ago or more. Since then the place is going downhill . Not the authentic family restaurant it was once. Missing the real owners Olga and Mario . They made you feel like family . So sad . Food is ok. I won't be returning.

Sammie M.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years since I was a kid and lately they have been going downhill , we were craving sopa de caracol, sopa de camarón pastelitos and some tajadas con carne molida. Both soups are salty and basically just water, there was little to no caracol and the shrimp wasn't clean. The tajadas had way too much meat and there a weird sweetness to the sauce, the only thing that somewhat ok but flavorless is the pastelito but it had rice . We had to eat it since we didnt make any dinner, but could not finish it will sadly would never order from here again.

Rafael U.

Yelp
In the past I been before in this restaurant but i thin is under new management the food is great and services ia excellent thanks

Lixye M.

Yelp

Yovy D.

Yelp
Super good very recommended! Check it out. Support this small business. El plato hondureño. Sorry no pictures.

Diana W.

Yelp
1st time eating Honduran cuisine. We got the food to go. Loved it!! Home made tortillas. Baleada, pupusas, sopas de mixta were our favorites! Staff speaks English, and are nice. They take credit card with $10minimum. Meals are around $10+, soups $14-$20. Hefty snacks like pupusas or baleada are under $5. Located by MacArthur park if you want yo take a stroll after your meal.

Harold R.

Yelp
The food is delicious with a variety of choices! The service is excellent! The make you feel welcome! The ambiance is gives you a warm atmosphere of a typical Hondurans restaurant!

Silvia B.

Yelp
The baleadas are delicious !! The waiters are very nice and friendly . Worth every penny ! Also the dirty chicken "pollo chuco " yummie just like they do in the streets of San Pedro sula honduras . Hard to find places like this . Fyi this was a review I wanted to post from February 2022

Henry R.

Yelp
I used to love this place, back in the days but now it has change , there's new people working here but the food is not the good anymore La comida no es como antes fui hoy en la mañana ,la mesera ayala nesesita mas ayuda a como ayudarle al cliente, Primero te traen comida quemeda o cruda nooo recomiendo este lugar para nada

Guillermo G.

Yelp
As my first time, I was not greeted, not sure if I was able to sit or wait for a host. After having eye contact the lady stated to sit at the table, it was dirty from the prior people. I order baleadas, definitely I was expecting more for a price of 14.99. That was pricy for a simple baleada, it had little of egg, bean. I won't be returning .

Jessi H.

Yelp

Nayeli C.

Yelp
Good food! Great service Carne Asada, pollo con tajadas! Muchas gracias por el servicio

Steve C.

Yelp
Dona Bibi's was my first time having Honduran food. It's out in LA next to MacArthur Park in Westlake. This places is run by an amazing family. They are Honduran and bring that authentic, traditional recipe to the foods. I had the baleadas (which are their Honduran style tortillas), which was pretty good. I also ate their sopa mixta, the conch meat soup with coconut milk, which was also very tasty, especially if you love seafood. The Honduran style fried chicken was also great here, loved the sauce that was over it. And I got to try many of their appetizers on their sampler plate which had everything from the pastelitos (fried empanadas) to tacos dorados (kind of like a taquito). Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. The food was fresh, it had great taste, and the service was wonderful. This restaurant will give you a great first impression of Honduran food if you've never had it before. I shot a YouTube video of Dona Bibi's which you can find on my channel, Rockstar Eater.

Lee L.

Yelp
took my dog on a walk and stumbled upon this place and decided to get a quick bite. it's great that they have an outside patio so i could sit down and eat with my dog. the food was actually really good! the dorados were crispy and bigger than expected and packed with flavorful chk n potato's. this was also my first time trying corn tamale- it kinda tasted like corn bread but in tamale form. definitely will come back again to try their other stuff

Moises A.

Yelp

Wing C.

Yelp
Don't come hangry because the food does take some time. Didn't see any organization or streamline of service - foods were brought out at random pace. Half of the table would be done eating, another half would still be waiting. My husband and I waited over 30 mins for our first item. No other table seemed bothered however. Maybe I'm just impatient? Baleada - a traditional Honduran bread stuffed with cheese, beans, and whatever you please. Loved the fluffiness of the bread, saltiness of the cheese, and aroma of the refried beans. Big enough to be a light meal or be shared by two. Def would consider getting one with meat next. Pupusa - revuelta, beans and cheese - loved the crispy exterior and ooey, gooey center. Paired with housemade slaw and hot sauce - delish! Chorizo breakfast - Sliced avocado, caramelized plantain, refried beans, salty cheese, and chorizo scrambled eggs - simple presentation yet soooo satisfying. Overall - pack your patient but def worth checking out their traditional Honduran dishes!

Reyna B.

Yelp
The worst service place was dirty the cashier wasn't paying attention to anybody the cook was calling him he was on the phone while he was taking my order people came back with their food and we're not happy they wanted their money back I truly regret going there to have dinner do not waste your money or time in this restaurant

Jeska R.

Yelp
So I came in to pick up my order and remembered I didn't have my debit card. They worked with me in figuring out how I can pay them so I didn't leave without food and thought that was nice of them. In addition the lady who helped me was the kindest. In regards to the most important aspect I had sopa de caracol and baleadas the food was BOMB. loved my experience this restaurant.

Roger E.

Yelp
Don't let the lack of parking keep you from indulging in what is probably the best tasting and best priced Honduran food in the city! Yes it's across McArthur Park, but life's a risk and so is finding great comfort food. Their Baleadas are on point, their best dish is the fried chicken with fried plantain chips in their secret sauce. Treat yourself and enjoy.

Mayerlin S.

Yelp
amazing food! everything taste so authentic, i feel like i'm back at home. Definitely coming back here !

Sherly V.

Yelp
Baja fish tacos .. One of my favorite dishes. Food is great. service great. reasonable prices .

Alicia S.

Yelp
Not sure what happened to this place but the food quality is no longer good. I've been coming here with my family for the past 14 yrs and we have noticed the decline in customer service and food quality the past 2yrs. We have tried almost everything on the menu but in the last visit we ordered pollo con tajadas and it was mot good. The chicken was stale and it looked very dark like it had been reheated or cooked in dirty oil. The tajadas were cold and the chimol and pickled onions were overpowered with pepper. The dressing and sauce that goes on top of the food was a bit bland and the consistency looked like it was watered down. We did not even get to half of the plate it was bad. That sensation of knowing you might get sick if you attempt to eat something. When the kitchen person/server came by we expressed our concern about the food quality and he just rambled a bunch of excuses basically to discredit our honest opinion. We paid for food that was inedible, no apology or courtesy credit nothing. Our family and friends will not be returning.
