Google
everything me and my family tried here was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! this is the only place that has mofongo the right texture, the camarón a la crilloyo was delicious and the yuca balls were to DIE for! the server and the cook are such sweet and lovely people. this is the best place for authentic dominican food! the atmosphere was cozy and nostalgic with a great view in the patio

Being a Dominican, and knowing the food— I was excited to try this place. I’ve been living in Texas for 3 yrs now and have been craving Dominican food. I want to start off by saying the service really needs some improvement. It’s not that they’re too busy because they really weren’t. Just need to be better with attentiveness and the food too way too long. The empanadas took about 15 minutes to come out and then we waited about 15-20 min for the hot dog and baked chicken. The food was okay. Not exceptional and because the service took long, I probably won’t be going back. A real Dominican knows that an empanada de queso should not be made with American or sharp cheddar or any yellow cheese. It melts and leaves barely any cheese. The chicken empanada was good! The baked chicken was good. The rice and beans were good but I had higher expectations. My Texan boyfriend got the hotdog which he said was good. We got the tamarindo and sweet tea drink and my bf and I both felt that was the best thing we had ordered. They had ran out of the jugo de chinola. I would’ve tried the flan, which I was very excited about, however I couldn’t bare to wait any longer so we got the check (which took many many requests) and left. Overall, it’s not terrible but has improvement to be made. If you’re looking for a taste closely related to Dominicans, it’s worth a shot but don’t get your hopes up.

What a jewel. The staff (Indira) was attentive and helpful. Recommending dishes for first timers (us). Plenty of seats and parking. Great atmosphere and music.

I found this Latin restaurant accidentally, but I'm glad I fed my curiosity. I walked in and was welcomed by the friendly waitresses, one of whom walked me through the menu and gave me some recommendations. I ended going with the beef empanadas, which were extremely generous in portion size. I don't think I've ever visited any restaurant that's served empanadas of that size and still performed on the quality side. Wow! I'll definitely be back for more options on the menu, so of course, I recommend this location. If you're thirsty and in the area, I recommend their delicious jugo natural. It's yummy. Edit: I came back and had their empanadas de queso con jamon, which are now my favorite. Yup, this is now a personal favorite restaurant for empanadas.

Google
Dona Maria Dominican Restaurant is a fantastic spot for authentic Dominican food! While it did take a little longer for the food to arrive, the wait was absolutely worth it. The flavors were incredible, and everything was freshly made. We started with their empanadas—both the beef and seafood were excellent. The boca de yuca, a fried yuca ball filled with melty cheese, was the perfect snack and absolutely addictive. The chimichurri sliders were a unique and delicious twist, with a juicy patty served between crispy tostones instead of buns—so creative and flavorful! For the main course, we had the chivo guisado (goat stew) with yellow bean rice, which was rich, hearty, and satisfying. The flavors really stood out and made it such a comforting dish. To top it off, it was their 6th anniversary celebration, and they had live bachata dancing on the patio, adding to the vibrant and fun atmosphere. Overall, Dona Maria is a wonderful experience for a taste of the Dominican Republic right here in Dallas. Highly recommend for anyone craving bold, authentic flavors and a lively vibe!

Google
Everything was amazing, customer service was exceptional. We ordered a lot of things everything was a 10. Mangú didn’t taste like mangú tho but definitely will be coming again and again. Parcha juiceeeeeeee. Thank you

Google
After visiting the DR for my 30th birthday I was determined to find a Dominican restaurant. Lo and behold, Dona Maria was only 10min from where I live. *They do not serve liquor FYI. The food is authentic and savory. The portions were just right. And, the prices were fair. I had stew chicken and rice & peas. It’s was all delicious. After the first bite, I knew I’d be back. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. They also have a cute outdoor patio that we enjoyed. My meal was under $20. Definitely try it out!

Google
Delicious food. They have $1 empanadas on Tuesday! I loved everything we ordered. Food was slow as I think there’s only one chef in the kitchen. Service was excellent

Millie V.

Yelp
Wanted to try Dominican food since it's very close to Puerto Rican food, my home town! The service was good since I notice that they only had one server and were waiting on four tables (one was a big party) . We got our food on time and hot. It was delicious and the portion is pretty big . The music playing gave the Caribbean ambience. Love it We went on a Tuesday night since they have empanadas for $1. And we shared our food that we ordered

Lumaris C.

Yelp
...and I decided to give Mofongo another try. I am glad I did. Good flavor and the texture was everything! Glad I ordered it! This is becoming one of my regular places because the service is just great. I am from PR and the vibes just make me feel closer to home.

Rhema A.

Yelp
This is easily one of my favorite restaurants in all of the DFW. The authentic flavor of the dishes is incredibly comforting and the ambiance is relaxed and wonderful. The mangu, arroz and tostones were perfect. The meat was tender and full of flavor. The jugo de parcha was tart and delicious. And the morisoñando was absolutely AMAZING.

Edna R.

Yelp
Loved the mofongo plate the sauce was simply delicious. Also had the fried snapper and ropa vieja. The ropa vieja came a little cold and was not the best around. We did go the day before Thanksgiving and they were short staffed will definitely try again.

Chay H.

Yelp
Great, authentic Dominican food and very friendly service. Their empanadas are amazing and their tamarindo drink is really the best I've had.

Krystal T.

Yelp
My friends and I wanted to try something new. Did a quick search and found Doña. The place was bustling! The customer service was excellent. The place was cute and clean. Now on to my suggestions: I highly suggest you order appetizers. The meal come out kinda slow and you'll have something to eat and you can chat while you wait. The beef empanadas, mofongo, and the orange and milk drink was hitting! I ordered the peppered steak with the concon which is the very crispy rice that is stuck at the bottom of the pan with beans. Now the rice wasn't right. It wasn't crispy and it was more like it was heated up and old. If that makes any sense. Like, when you leave rice out and it kinda get hard and then you heat that up. That was disappointing. Because I love crunchy rice! The peppered steak isn't like an American steak. We would call it a salisbury steak with the texture of chicken fried steak. It was good but I wouldn't order it again. Overall, I would come back and try all the appetizers and more of the orange drink!!

Yelp
I was in town briefly and was curious what the Dominican food scene looked like here. I was surprised there was even a Dominican restaurant here so I decided to order take out. I ordered their Pernil plate with rice and habichuelas. It did not come with a green salad as indicated on their menu. It was served with an interesting chimichurri style mojo sauce, which did not complement the Pernil well. The Pernil itself was not seasoned properly, at least the not way that I'm used to it being seasoned, and tasted like it had been sitting around a bit. I also ordered a beef pastelito and it was fine but nothing out of this world. Overall, I wouldn't order from here again. I forgot to take a pic unfortunately.

Angel M.

Yelp
Good authentic Dominican food. Friendly service. Free parking. Convenient location. Recommend.

Yelp
Going to be honest with this review. As a half Dominican/Mexican brother that was born in LA, this restaurant makes me feel right at home. Not only is the food great, but the staff does an extremely good job keeping the restaurant authentic. It's rare to have cultural restaurants like this that dedicate their love and soul into providing a Caribbean food experience to Texas. The Mofongo de Camarones is my favorite but you've got to try the Chivo Guisado one day. They make it better than myself Dominican food is something everyone should try. The flavors of the Caribbean is hard to resist.

Chris S.

Yelp
So good! Our first time having Dominican food. We came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon on a whim. We liked the empanadas but wasn't a fan of the sliders for appetizers. For our mains, I believe husband had the oxtails and I had the goat! Sooo good! The only gripe I had was that the woven chair seats aren't the most comfortable. Our waitress was attentive and helped us with the menu. Overall very solid casual casual place to dine. Enjoy!

Benjamin N.

Yelp
We were looking for empanada nearby and stumbled onto this restaurant on line. The staff was very helpful with our Uber Eats orders. We chose to pick up to see the place. Nice ambience! Family like atmosphere. Will try to eat in soon. Empanada were great! Should have asked for more sauce, but that was on me!

M K.

Yelp
Parking: Plenty Location: Strip retail stretch Ambience: Casual Service: warm, welcoming Upon entrance, it's like walking into "Vacation"....Intl patrons, various languages echoing the room... Daily Menu comes with 5-6 options, can't go wrong. (Closes on Sunday) Across the board, each meal is flavorful and aromatic but not over-powering, each entree is different enough to tease your palate, simply joyful...be adventurous and you won't regret!

Dana K.

Yelp
First time trying Dominican Food and I'll be back! It would have gotten a 5, but had trouble communicating a bit w staff and not the fastest. The churrasco grilled skirt steak was tender and the chimichurri sauce on point. Texture of crunchy rice & beans was perfect and good flavor together. Nice to know this restaurant exists and I've told others about it as well.

Melanie G.

Yelp
Wow, just wow! Wonderful food! Excellent customer service and did I say wonderful food! The place is has such a cute cultural ambiance. Love Thai place. One of my family's favorites now!

Yelp
My husband was so excited to find this place right down the street from our house. We moved from NY last summer and missed the good Dominican food from back home. We tried the items below and we've loved just about everything. Mangu - My personal favorite. It's seasoned and mashed plantains served with a fried egg, fried cheese (!!) and pickled onions. My mouth is watering just thinking about this. You can also get it with sausage, but I don't eat pork. Beef Empanada - Some of the best empanadas I've had in awhile. The filling was seasoned perfectly. Chicken Empanada - Even better than the beef! The chicken wasn't dry at all, as it often tends to be in an empanada. So good! Chimichurri - It wasn't bad, but we didn't know it contained pork. The patty is a mix of pork and beef. Chicharron de Pollo - This was good, but sadly not as good as the one we're used to. It's seasoned nicely, but the style is a little different. The serving here is also about half of what we got at our favorite place in NY. It's served with rice and beans, which were really good! Churrasco - My husband loves steak and he said he enjoyed this one. Pastellito - This is like a Dominican shepherds pie and you can get it with potato, sweet potato or plantain on top. We opted for sweet potato and it was really good! I'd like to try the potato version next. We really enjoyed our food here and will definitely be back. I'm excited to try more stuff on their menu and the server was really nice!

Demus H.

Yelp
The food absolutely amazing great flavors. service average... Environment really nice

Rosemary C.

Yelp
Brought our parents from out of town here. I don't know if it's because we got there around 7ish but, the order of pork chunks we ordered was super dry. The rice I was given was crispy. Others got different menu items that were enjoyed. My mom ordered the morir soñando and it was too sweet. The service was great and the waitresses were attentive. Maybe next time we will try it out earlier in the day than at night.

Sam R.

Yelp
Great food. And the service was ok. The mofongo with carné frita was great. I would return.

Christian C.

Yelp
Doña Maria restaurant is really really good! The Camarones al Ajillo with Mofongo is amazing! Service is really fantastic and friendly. Very much recommended!

King C.

Yelp
So I have a Dominican girlfriend and to tell you how happy she was to have authentic food from back home, she love it, we had 3 plates and we did not leave a single thing, the service was amazing and my girlfriend and the waitress talk for a good while about the menu, and the place was amazing as well very welcoming

Larry M.

Yelp
I finally got around to trying out Doña Maria and let me tell you I am ashamed that it took me so long. The empanadas were amazing as was the braised pork. I look forward to the opportunity to try more items.

Cliff O.

Yelp
This place is AWESOME. The Dominican food here is outstanding. The service is also excellent. When you are in Las Colinas you really have to try this place!

pete p.

Yelp
Good food but was missing an item that was more expensive than what they substituted it with and I tried calling and the lady was just rude..... I tried to explain it clearly and I kept getting interrupted

Margo M.

Yelp
It was my first time having Dominican food. My friend who is Dominican loved it. She said it felt like home. She had the ox tails. I had the fish. Not what expected but it was really good. The salad was incredible. Plántanos were awesome. The service was friendly but one guy tried doing it all. The music was great, fun, welcoming. I will go again when I am in Dallas.

Aly C.

Yelp
Really good food. The service is super nice and the food came within about 12 minutes of ordering! The atmosphere and interior is supper cool and nice.

savannah w.

Yelp
It was amazing the service. The food was out of this world good. Definitely coming back. The ambiance was so cool and very clean.

Sasha M.

Yelp
Flavor was good but the serving portion was small compared to other Latin cuisine restaurants in the area.

Katie G.

Yelp
Amazing food and sweet nostalgic atmosphere. Made me feel like I was back in the DR. I especially loved the juice served in jarros. The jugo de Chinola was amazing!!!

Diana Milena A.

Yelp
Comida deliciosa con buen precio. La atención es excelente y la experiencia realmente increíble.

Anthony M.

Yelp
Decided to stop by on a weekday for another dinner venue. Place is clean, I tried several different menu items that look yummy. Love the baked half chicken with basic white rice and red kidney beans. Mofongo with shrimps with a delicious sauce over the meal. Glad I came back. Check it out remember they're close on Sundays.

Bryant D.

Yelp
Love this place! It's like home away from home! Don't know what I would do without my Dominican food!

Lisa K.

Yelp
Missing home. Come get you authentic Dominican food here. This was my first time at the restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and vibe. I had the Mofongo with shrimp and garlic. It was the best mofongo I've had. I'm so glad my partner convinced me to eat here for dinner after work. I will be returning and recommending this place to all my colleagues for lunch.

LadyHndrxx X.

Yelp
Came in here yesterday... was in the mood for some tostones but didn't want to make them myself... anyways the place is easy to find and inside is super clean and has Dominican decor it kind of reminded me of nyc Dominican food spots but bigger... Anyways service is good the girl taking orders was super nice and I was listening to her help this guy asking a billion questions with a ton of patience lol... I ordered the tresgolpes honest review ... everything was good but the mangu didn't taste fresh tasted like it had been sitting for a while ... I personally like mine moist it was really crumb texture I also got tostones and they were good too I'm rating it 4 stars cause honestly the mangu was what I most wanted and it wasn't too good

Ben S.

Yelp
Found this place on GrubHub and it did not disappoint. Dallas needed a good Dominican restaurant and this is it. My wife and I have loved Dominican food since we had it in Queens, NY several years ago. We both got the "tres golpes" with mangu and it was just like we remember it. We also got sides of tostones and yuca frita with mayoketchup. All of it was amazing and we highly recommend it. We need to support this place so it doesn't go out of business because we need it here

Justine C.

Yelp
Excellent food and well seasoned. We came during lunch rush and unfortunately the service was not great but the waitress was doing her best.

Antonio E.

Yelp
Reminds me of home. Two weeks living here and I can say this is a great spot for Dominican food. Como la comida de mama ha

Dalonda C.

Yelp
My first time here, everyone was very friendly ( and patient ) I love trying new places to eat! This one did not disappoint! Delicious

JaNell H.

Yelp
I went her with my daughter. It was a nice quaint restaurant. Clean and friendly vibe. The food was tasty, seasoned well and the empanadas was delicious! They were a little skimpy on the meat but the breading was perfect. We just left the DR and wanted to enjoy the Cusine again.

Ms S.

Yelp
AMAZING food and service. The Mofongo con camarones and the sancocho (Dominican soup) were incredibly flavorful and delicious I'm so glad I found this place and I will absolutely be back!!

Robert P.

Yelp
Great spot for Dominican food, especially the tres golpes and cuatro golpes for breakfast/brunch.

Alexandra M.

Yelp
I was heartbroken when I went to visit her location a few months ago and saw she had moved. Killeen was pretty far for me before and now that she's moved to Irving it's impossible to just make a casual trip. I moved to Fredericksburg and that would make it a 4 hour drive.

Frankie M.

Yelp
This place hasn't be open long. Had the mangu with fried cheese, salami, and eggs. It was really delicious. I will definitely come back to try their many other dishes and decide which will be my favorite. Pros: Friendly, clean, good Spanish music, decent prices, and good food. Cons: The only thing I questioned is the wood board plate that the food comes on. I'm not really sure how sanitizing and healthy that is since food or grease can soak into the wood no matter how hard you clean it compared to regular plates. But, have not done the research. The taste of food makes up for it, I supposed. Lol

Carmen C.

Yelp
Great customer service, food and very clean. Outside seating on a day like today is amazing.

Alex O.

Yelp
Words can't describe how good the food is there. But unfortunately, it does take a little long to get your food so it makes it a little challenging to go at lunchtime.

Dori R.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place... The food is amazing, they definitely cook with love. This is how we latinos describe when the food is so good. You have try the sancocho, the mofongo and tres golpes, delicioso. They also hace once a week "quipes" just try them please. Overall great place, nice ambience, perfect location and super nice people but the best is THE FOOD!

Erika M.

Yelp
Everything about Dona Maria's was great. We were visiting the area and a coworker told me that he had lunch here last week. To start, the server was super friendly. My husband had mofongo con masita de cerdo and I had the ropa vieja con arroz blanco with beans on the side, delish!! Would def recommend this place and would come back if in the area again.

Rae L.

Yelp
Loved the food and service!! Amazing presentation, and very well priced!! Definitely will visit this hidden gem again, there was so many things on the menu I want to try!

Alexa D.

Yelp
So happy to have found this place. Since I moved here from NY, the closest Dominican restaurant I could find was in Houston. My life is now complete! I had the pork mofongo. It was full of flavor and perfect. The waitress was attentive and nice. It's my new favorite place

Aubrey A.

Yelp
Fantastic food and amazing service. So friendly, and a really fun and authentic environment!
