Donna Carmela Resort & Lodges, an SLH Hotel

We had a great three night stay. We were in the two floor suite which was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable The bathrooms could use some updating and I think adding a door stopper would be nice so the door can stay open. The air conditioning temperature does not decrease, it’s set at 70 plus Fahrenheit but the extra fan made the room comfortable. The dinner and lunch were exceptional. Some of the best meals of the trip. The breakfast was also very nice. The staff are all friendly. ||The only area that can be improved is to add service at the pool area. The bartender at the pool could also benefit from a course to improve how the drinks are made.||Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Had a wonderful stay at Donna Carmela, along with our friends to celebrate a special occasion. The service and staff were outstanding from top to bottom! Everyone on their team is very warm, welcoming, and professional. The breakfast each morning was incredible with an impressive assortment of pastries, cakes, loaves, tarts, as well as a small a la carte menu of hot items made to order. A big thank you to Aurora who helped plan and manage our group's stay, as well as Giuseppe at the bar for his great drinks and a fun cocktail masterclass. Some in our group also did the cannoli making class and LOVED it (great activity for kids). Aurora also helped our group coordinate a trip to Pietradolce winery on the North side of Etna, owned by the same family as Donna Carmela. This visit and wine tasting was also one of the highlights of our trip! Highly recommended.

We stayed at Donna Carmela in Sicily in August. They were very welcoming and accommodating, especially at the restaurant. We are Diamond with Hilton and were kindly given amazing upgrades with beautiful views. The grounds are tropical and unique. Actually reminded me of the 4 Seasons on the Big Island. There are 2 or 3 different lobbies for relaxing including a quaint little bibliotheca. I especially loved the indoor outdoor bar area. I only wish the hotel had been closer to the sea. The front desk receptionists were helpful in arranging tours and excursions and with other requests. I do wish they had been more helpful when we had trouble locating the port for one excursion. We called in a panic and they were not understanding. I would have appreciated more direction and advice regarding anticipated plans and departure to the airport since I was driving and traveling alone.

We had a wonderful stay! A beautiful accommodation with very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived late in the evening, which was no problem at all. Since the kitchen had already closed, they had kindly placed some cold dishes in our room without us even having to ask — such a thoughtful gesture. The hotel is in a fantastic location, offering stunning views of Mount Etna on one side and the sea on the other. Highly recommended!

This was a wonderful stay!! Lovely staff, updated and chic rooms, beautiful property. Free breakfast every day was a huge highlight. Quiet and sunny pool, amazing restaurant on property for dinner. The location isn’t near a major village / town, but if you have a car and are happy to drive, it is perfect! So quaint and lovely!

Our stay at Donna Carmela was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. the room was spotless and well-designed with a view to the volcano! Breakfast was fresh and varied with local pastry 🥐 We were also traveling with a baby, and the hotel was very accommodating, providing everything we needed. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sicily!

Above expectations in all areas! With the warmer than expected temperatures we spent more time at the hotel than planned. With such high services levels it was a pleasure to spend time around the pool area. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and always enough staff available to give you time. At times, the small scale of the main building felt like it was your own private house. The support from the front desk via WhatsApp for room service and activity planning worked very well. We used the hotel transport and driver for a local winery lunch - another service we could not fault. The outside restaurant setting is like a village square/green with a wonderful atmosphere as night. We were also fortunate to be staying when it was BBQ night. The lawn is laid out with outdoor cooking, buffet and bar, it felt like most guests attended this event. The breakfast experience and menu is equally very high service level and excellent food cooking. The Sicilian breakfast which I could not see on the menu should not be declined if offered

This hotel is amazing; it's pretty much a small botanical garden, and the staff is kind and very helpful. Room service and the restaurant are not cheap, but you get what you pay for: a gastronomic restaurant and top-notch service. The only things that could have been better are that we had a jacuzzi and had to pay an additional charge of 35 euros a day to heat it up... in an almost 700-euro-a-night accommodation... And the fact that an extension of the hotel is being built, and you can partially see and hear it from the lodges. But don't get me wrong, the rest was pretty much perfect... Amazing breakfast... good product, buffet, order from or off the menu... everything is homemade. Highly recommended.
