"Dora Taqueria opened just weeks before the pandemic closed down the city in 2020. In the intervening years, it has not only survived but thrived: Owner Kelmyn Mejia and his daughter Kimberly expanded with a Woburn location of the taqueria in 2022. For the uninitiated, start with the birria tacos. The crispy, fried outer shells give way to flavorful stewed beef mixed with gobs of melty cheese, ready to dip in a side cup of warming, smoky consomé." - Celina Colby, Eater Staff

"I love burritos and plantains separately but never thought to combine the two until I noticed the option at Dora Taqueria. My go-to order is a carnitas burrito with all the fixings, with the addition of the perfect maduros inside the burrito for an added buck. The side of fiery ghost pepper hot sauce is a nice balance to the sweet plantains, too. And if you have any self-control (I don’t), you can easily cut the burrito in half, and it’s two filling meals. —Nathan Tavares" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Terrence Doyle, Nathan Tavares, Karen Wilber

The birria tacos come in an order of three, with onion, cilantro, cheese, and dipping broth. Dora is currently open for takeout, and delivery is also available via several third-party platforms." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Amazing Birria Tacos 😋🌮 with Flavorful Consomme to Dip the Tacos 😋🌮. The Passion Fruit Drink was Delicious. The Service was Excellent 👍. I Highly Recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Google
Amazing!!! Loved the barría tacos some much flavor. I will definitely be ordering from here again😊

Overall, the food and service was very good and I will return and recommend. Read for more detail. My family went there yesterday night around 8pm. They were very quick with getting our food out and the place was affordable. The food tasted very good. My tacos, the shrimp taco and chicken tinga were delicious. My partner got the birria tacos and enjoyed them. The plantains were made to perfection. However, my street corn was not great. I guess they ran out of the cotija cheese (the white stuff they put all over the street corn) so it just tasted like something was missing. I didn't really eat mine. My partner still ate hers and liked the spiciness of the street corn.

Google
I spent 60$ only two burritos and and three tacos and a side of rice bot worth it at all look at the side of rice in a sauce container

Google
I ordered a total of $82.00 of food and it was sad that the flavor was off. There was no meat in my berries tacos or my wife’s burrito bowl, it was filled with rice, barely meat and beans. I called and the gentlemen on the phone was clueless and offered to go back to get another bowl. I asked to speak to the manager and he stated that he was the manager when at first he asked to speak to someone in regards my complaint he was clueless. Your restaurant it’s offering meals that don’t match the pictures online. So, people be aware that Doras is no longer like they were when they first open. Annas taqueria is extremely better!

Google
Really loved the birria tacos here! I got it for delivery so they weren't crispy by the time they got to me but definitely a lot of flavor and the sauce is so good. 3 was a good portion and made me full, I was definitely tempted to get 4 though!

Google
So disappointed. I don’t know if they have new management or owners but I ordered the chicken tamales and these aren’t right. Usually tamales come with some sort of sauce inside them along with the meat. I ordered the same tamales last year at this same establishment and they had a red sauce inside cooked with the chicken. After dousing them with hot sauce I began to eat them bc I don’t like to waste food, was hungry, and it’s late. I then bite into a staple that was in the tamale. See pics. I gave this place the 2 stars because their birria tacos which were for my daughter were decent.

Google
Very nice staff. The space is bright and extremely clean. The prices are reasonable, less expensive than what you'd find downtown. The elote special was the best part! ($2.99) The churros were tasty as well and came with a dipping sauce. Overall, really solid new place! I will be coming back.

Gil M.

Yelp
Worth a try, and Honestly their housemade salsitas are better than the entire wall of hot sauce that they also offer. Cool idea, but the hot sauces are weak in comparison of the housemade ones. I had the Al Pastor Burrito. It's large and ingredients were on point. If you are getting this to go, make sure you ask for their house made salsitas.

Annel O.

Yelp
Ordered Street corn, Birria Quesadilla and Horchata. The street corn and horchata were really good. As for the quesadilla, I found it to be a bit too cheesy.

Dannie W.

Yelp
I gave 2 stars mainly because they charge 10% tips for pickup food. Otherwise, it'll be 3 stars. The food is ok. I ordered the Birria Tacos and I have to say takeout food does not taste good. Maybe it'll be better for dine in. The tacos just taste very ordinary. With tips and tax, the dish is a bit more than $17. I wouldn't order it again for sure.

Dominique D.

Yelp
Very good! I had a craving for birria tacos and was so happy to find this place in Dorchester. This restaurant is so cool and the service was great. There's a ton of seating for eating inside. I got the street corn and of course the birria tacos. You can get three birra tacos for $13.99 or four for $18. The street corn was so delicious and so were the tacos. The consommé was flavorful!! I wish it came with a bigger serving for the tacos haha. The tacos did get a bit soggy since I did takeout and didn't get to eat them right away, but that was nothing the air fryer couldn't fix. I'd definitely go again and get more food. Their menu is huge and they have so many options. This will definitely become my favorite spot in Dorchester. Parking is limited on the street.

Kennya M.

Yelp
I order my Birria tacos from this place all the time through UberEats. I decided to stop by today and eat at the restaurant and because I was craving their Birria tacos. Such a cute little restaurant. The service was great. Definitely one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in

DeeShawn R.

Yelp
Pretty good Mexican place on the south side for those not wanting to travel to East Boston Stumbled upon this randomly and the first time I tried, it was really good. Second time was meh. Ordered tamale and it wasn't that good. Got the chimichanga and it was small compared to what chimichanga really is. The flavor was really good inside though. Although they are pretty pricey on their food I will say

Corrina L.

Yelp
Love Dora. I've failed to find any decent Mexican places near where I live and I'm glad I happened upon this place, literally by accident one day (we ordered from another place on DoorDash and the driver brought us food from Dora by mistake, we ended up eating it as it couldn't be taken back and I was pleasantly surprised.) I usually order either the chicken tinga tacos or the tinga burrito (I've also tried the grilled chicken, carnitas and Carne Asada tacos). The chicken tinga has amazing flavor though it's quite messy. I'd say we order from here at least a couple times a month, sometimes more, and I've only been disappointed maybe once and I just figured it was a rare "off day". The food is filling and delicious. Ive never been there in person so can't speak to the ambience. I love the salsa and churros also. Will continue to order from here.

Matt C.

Yelp
My wife and I each got burritos (carne asada/carnitas). We were both pleased with our meal and will definitely go back. The food tasted great and wasn't very messy. We also noticed the vibe in the restaurant and decoration was also well done and the menu seemed very expansive. We live in South Boston and there isn't much along the same lines to choose from so glad this placed opened up. Prices have increased quite a bit since I first posted my review. They have added some nice technology to the store for a better experience but 6.99 for chips and guac is completely unreasonable as an example. It's also frustrating that each topping you add to a burrito is an additional charge but the toppings you may choose to forgo aren't considered, ultimately ending up in a $16 burrito in my case.

Petra K.

Yelp
Save your money. The food tasted just ok, nothing special. I was still hungry after eating their 2 taco entre. It was skimpy. I had to buy nachos and guacamole for $6.49 after the meal because I was still so hungry. There is zero atmosphere in the dining room. After eating there I woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning. I was sick and my intestines were bleeding for the better part of 24 hours. Someone isn't washing their hands before preparing foods there or the food isn't being stored correctly. I was so sick and there's no doubt that I got sick from their food.....DYSENTERY... it's bad...look it up if you don't know the symptoms.

Maggie Z.

Yelp
Took a chance on this place based from Yelp and I wanted somewhere close to Quincy, and this place did not disappoint! Parking on street, no ample parking but not too hard to find. I'm not familiar with the area of Dorchester but the area seems to be up and coming. It's a small restaurant with maybe 10 seatings. Prices are a bit expensive with tacos around $3.5-4 per taco and around $12 for a burrito. But honestly for Boston... it's pretty cheap compared to some places so expensive is relative. I ordered 2 reg tacos (Al pastor & carnitas) and an order of birria (3 tacos). The tacos themselves were ok.. I probably wouldn't get again. Thought a little bland overall but the meat itself was super flavorful. Also I ordered corn tortilla but they tasted and look like flour. However, the birria was super flavorful! I haven't had authentic to compare to but the better of birria I've had. My bf got the chicken tinga burrito and it was really big and tasted great! Not sure the dessert cup we got but we thought it was flan cake. It wasn't but it was also amazing. Definitely come here and give this place a try!

Brandon F.

Yelp
10/10 would recommend! Fresh to order chips, fire birria tacos, and simple yet delicious guac. Run. Don't walk!

Vijay S.

Yelp
Great place for tacos in Dorcester! We were in the area for the Van Gogh experience and stumbled upon this place. Got tacos with all different kinds of meat. Loved the steak, carnitas and chicken tacos. Chicken Tinga was sweet and savory. Alpastor and chorizo were Aok. Also got the chips and guacamole, which was good but the guac came in a small plastic container. They have a huge selection of different salsas and sauces. Overall good experience. Not sure why the gringa plate is priced more than the price of 3 tacos separately.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, I do not write negative reviews. However, I can't let people use their hard earned coins at this sham of an establishment. This food is UNBELIEVABLY disgusting! Old oil used for churros, day away from rotten shrimp and stale tortillas chips. Like, in America?... in 2023?!? Why?!?! I wanted to make it my mission this year to invest in MY community so that MY people could make a decent living and compete in this economy and THIS is the quality and service I receive?! WTF. Firstly, I ordered via Postmates which I've used numerous times all over the country with absolutely no complaints. I have food allergies and made simple changes to my order ( shrimp for chicken, sour cream on the side...) and the requests were COMPLETELY ignored!! 1.) Nachos are described as "with cheese" and had chicken all up and through. Tacos (2) came with selected meat on only one of the two. Extras requested were no where to be found... I called the restaurant directly about the issues and was told "there are new people working here" who apparently cannot read! I asked for the correct order to be delivered and I was told to take it up with Postmates for a refund. After spending over $90 for nachos and tacos?!?! I did notice the misspelled words and typos all throughout the menu but left it alone because there was an option to make special requests. That was my first red flag that I ignored.... I have let Postmates know that their reputation is on the line because of these scam artists and now I'm alerting you. Avoid at all cost for your own sake! What a shame.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place for a while just for the birria tacos. I've been in search for them! They were tasty and the consume was flavorful. The only thing was I wish they were more crispy/crunchy. The staff were fast and efficient, only waited a few minutes and everything came out fresh. I can't wait to go back to try other items on the menu.

Joie T.

Yelp
3 birria tacos for $14. I would've preferred it without the sprinkled cheese on top and the consommé was too tomato-y. Overall, it was decent but nothing to rave about.

Lauren P.

Yelp
Good steak tacos. Classic Mexican taco truck vibes with all the fixings! This is my new go to spot for the Mexican food I've been craving. Reasonably priced and super consistent this place I would recommend this place as my secret spot. I've only gotten delivery from here but each time the order is spot on and the salsa is spicy and delicious! Will 100% be back thank you guy for making such great and authentic food!

Raquel G.

Yelp
Very delicious!! The consume for the tacos was excellent and overall they were fantastic! My only disappointment would be the cheese used, it seemed (and looked) like it was your typical shredded mexican cheese blend that you can buy at the supermarket - which isn't quite authentic. The elote was amazing, highly recommend using the spicy red sauce on the side. Also the inside of the restaurant is so cute :) Would definitely return.

Victoria H.

Yelp
My go-to spot for birria tacos (the flan is also delicious!) Also, the impressive wall of hot sauce... I mean what's not to love?!

Christopher S.

Yelp
No thanks to the pandemic that coincided with the opening of this small, cozy and colorful eatery in early 2020, I've only recently discovered Dora Taqueria, at 112 Stoughton Street, Dorchester, MA 02125 (in between Columbus Ave to the north and Dot Ave to the south). It was worth the wait! My favorite is the Chicken Tinga chimichanga plate (shown in the photo). Stuffed with tangy chicken, rice, onions, and beans, and covered with melted cheese, the chimi's perfect compliment is the house pico de pina, with its additional punch of tangy goodness: fresh cilantro, jalapeno, onions, and tomato. The chimichanga plate is complimented with a small sides of salad, rice and beans dusted with crumbled cheese. Also shown in the pictures, Dora's generous selection of hot sauces, available via the hot sauce station located toward the back. A recent take-out delivery included a trio of tasty shrimp tacos, with sides of guacamole, salsa, and chips. All...devoured. Glad to have found Dora Taqueria right around the corner and in between my hikes to and from nearby Upham's Corner BPL location and on the way back from Devine Golf Course and the Franklin Park Zoo. No doubt, I'll become a regular. Ph. Sam D.

Yelp
We came here for the birria tacos , we also ordered the churros and a chicken burrito. We ordered 5 orders of the birria tacos for 5 people and everyone loved them! The flavor, the meat and the dipping sauce were all so good! We would definitely come here for their birria tacos again. You get 3 tacos for $14 and it's actually worth it. They have about 2-3 indoor tables for eating or you can just do take out. There is street parking, everyone in the kitchen area (which you can easily see behind the register) is wearing a mask. The restaurant is clean and they have drink options. Personally $3 for a jarrito soda is too much so we just grabbed drinks we wanted from the corner store up the street.

Green H.

Yelp
All I can say is oh my God this place rocks the food is very good and tasty & fresh please don't change your ingredients. Keep it the same even the rice is bomb.

Nicole B.

Yelp
Delicious tacos! They really do the Birria tacos right. Great flavor on the beef broth and love the Crispiness of the taco. Street tacos are quite good too. Super friendly service. Definitely recommend!

Robin L.

Yelp
So satisfied! I literally live down the street and never realized this place was here. But luckily Chipotle was temporarily shut down today so we decided to give this place a try. Menu was not too overwhelming but had good options. I had the Al Pastor Quesadilla and Elote Street Corn. The quesadilla was so fulfilling and toppings were fresh. The Elote was so sweet and soft but I think next time, I'd request for it to be taken to go open face, that way the cheese and sauce doesn't get wrapped up in the aluminum. I definitely want to give this place another visit for other items on the menu.

Jose M.

Yelp
If you want real birria tacos go to Taqueria Jalisco in East Boston the only spot for real birria tacos. Dora need to explore a better recipe,,tacos was str8 trash. If you're white disregard this message, you will probably find them delicious.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Hmm where should I start . When you first walk in everyone is on their phone or playing around and no one even says "hi ". Received the food cold , flavorless , and all over the place . Hoping that If you like actual good Mexican food you go elsewhere but if you don't season your food this is perfect for you :).

Stacey T.

Yelp
Dora has consistently decent food. We've ordered a few times for covid takeout and does it blow me away, no? But I know what to expect and consistency is key. The steak quesadillas are a nice portion and come in a container with a side of shredded lettuce and a side of pico which is a nice touch. You also get a little cup of sour cream. I order some guac on the side and I'm set. The guacamole is pretty good. They could work on better distributing the filling and maybe mixing the cheese up with a bit more flavor The burrito is a really good size, not as big as Chipotle but pretty solid. It could use a sauce or something to add some flavor as well (depending on the meat it can be a bit on the dry side) , we added some sauce at home and that did the trick.

Shaun L.

Yelp
We really wanted to support the local businesses so we decided to try Dora. It hasnt been open long and i havent found a good texmex spot since we moved from Brookline. We ordered online on their website.. I had the steak burrito with guacamole. Overall, the burrito was good, I wouldn't say it is the best burrito but it was solid. The hot sauces they give you on the side really add to the flavor (make sure you add it while you eat!) I preferred the red one over the green one. I would rate is as mild for a person who can handle spicy. Wifey got a carnitas urrito bowl but it ended up coming as a burrito. When we looked at the order form, the bowl part got cut off. It looks like they need to fix their order lists. The carnitas were ok, but the portion was very generous. We also got a couple of al pastor tacos. It was good, I was so full and the taco had so much meat in it. The mango salsa gave the tacos an extra dimension which was nice. The rating is more of a 3.5 than a 3.

Marvin G.

Yelp
Great place to eat in o take eat lindo lugar para comer adentro o para llevar bien atendidos por los buenos empleados

John M.

Yelp
I absolutely do not understand this place's good ratings. Hands down the worst burrito I've ever eaten. I had a couple bites and literally couldn't stomach any more, went straight in the trash. The tamales were about 75% dough, dry, and terrible. The only thing saving this review was the churros.

Rory H.

Yelp
I tried Dora Taqueria for the first time today and it was well worth the drive from southie. I made a special request to have half chicken and Carnitas and this was honored. the guacamole was delicious as was the entire burrito. will come here again for pretty authentic Mexican.

Bryce K.

Yelp
Service: excellent Food: delicious, fresh, and consistent Environment: lovely interior, covid protocols, clean, restrooms for customers

Mark H.

Yelp
I have been here several times and the food has always been spot on. Friendly service and a clean environment. My burrito last night was just delicious

Jha A.

Yelp
I went today.... I'm very disappointed because this place had pretty decent reviews. The Birria tacos were cold and bland... there was VERY minimal seasoning or cilantro or spice.... the street corn was okay but I feel like they definitely skimped on the cotija cheese... and lastly I bought the tres leches cake prepared to taste greatness only to be HIGHLY disappointed as it tastes like store bought (grocery store) sheet cake with watered down condensed milk or something poured over the top... nothing about this felt "prepared with care" or authentic... if you're looking for an authentic experience.... try somewhere else..... smh very dissatisfied

Wells L.

Yelp
Worst carnitas I've ever had in my life! The meat is bland and completely wet with no real grease. Zero crispy completely soft, even the tortilla cane raw :,( . Honestly such a huge disappointment ordering from here couldn't even finish my food. They just make it fancy looking with the seasonings and toppings they use.. unfortunately it's the only thing you taste too.

Lindsay L.

Yelp
I am selective about Mexican food because I have had my fair share of it in other states with tons of authentic Mexican cuisine like Illinois, California, and Texas. However, it is fairer to compare Dora to other Boston area taquerias. It is better than the majority of Mexican food I have tasted in Boston. Lately, I have been more focused on the ingredients in my food, and I appreciate that Dora has options for a spinach tortilla rather than corn tortilla. Although I prefer the taste of the corn type, the spinach one is a better fit for my current dietary needs. Lastly, Dora serves horchata, and it is ridiculous that many Mexican restaurants in the Boston area do not have that on the menu. This is a restaurant that at least includes the basics that customers should expect from a taqueria.

Thao L.

Yelp
These birria tacos do not taste like any other birria I've had in Boston. My only complaint would be I wished they gave more soup to dip as I don't believe it comes with enough and I ordered it by delivery so it was a little soggy once arrival. It came with a little hot sauce that really gave it the kick it needed. Same goes for the two tacos I got - al pastor and steak. The al pastor had no flavor, the steak was good. Stick to the birria. I will try again for delivery and hopefully not as soggy. Hopefully be able to get it sit in one day so I can still get them crispy off the grill.

Eleni O.

Yelp
I ordered Birria Tacos, beautifully presented! This was my first time eating these kind of tacos so I wanted to see what the hype was all about. Maybe I'm not all that much of a fan but my boyfriend also had a plate for himself that he really enjoyed. I also ordered the street corn and it was honestly the best one Ive had yet! So so so delicious, I'll make sure to order a few more next time. We got the kid chicken fingers, those were supposed to come with a side of French fries and didn't but that's no big deal. The chicken was good. We ordered wings and fries, fries were a little bland & could've used some salt on them or something but still good and I enjoyed the chicken wings. Over all this place was pretty good, we all enjoyed it.

Stacey F.

Yelp
Walked here after a show at the Strand. Never been before but looked good on Yelp so we went in. It was delicious! Clean and comfortable. Lots of authentic taqueria menu options to choose from. We got a few different tacos, street corn, plantains, and a churro. Everything was awesome - probably the best street corn I've ever had. Highly recommend!

Joshua B.

Yelp
Seeing some of these 3-4 star reviews from folks and after reading them I'm sitting here curious why they feel a $10 burrito should taste like. Anyway- we had a Grubhub disaster (don't go there) and ended up calling direct and are so thankful we did. This was our first order with them and it was terrific. Fresh and flavorful. Chicken tinga torta was delish and included smooth yummy guacamole. Carnitas taco trio was a great deal and was great (despite being take out which can ruin tacos) This place is going on our regular list. We would have added photos but we dove right in to our meals.

Joe L.

Yelp
Foods dope Owners dope Ambiance is dope Try the birria Very yum The people here are very nice and the food is incredible. Inside has very nice decorations and the food comes out quick!

Reuben H.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I ordered the chicken flautas and they weren't really flautas at all, but instead were tortilla stuffed with meat and a bunch of cheese and onions but not crispy at all. Also got a side of fries which had no seasoning or taste, not even a bit of salt. The side of black beans I got had little taste and no seasonings at all. Definitely won't be ordering here again

Michii G.

Yelp
I ordered taco birria and I couldn't eat it because it was soo salty and the cheese was horrible , the dipping Sauce was saltyyyy as hell. Impossible to eat it. I've ordered from here before and never had a complaint till now. So disappointed had to make myself something to eat instead .no ordering from here again

Yvonne T.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place but it was pretty lackluster. The rice in the burrito bowl and chimichanga was soooo plain. Instead of flavor, it almost had negative flavor, like it sucked the soul out of your mouth. I had to add a good amount of salt for the food to be palatable.

Kandis B.

Yelp
They have a great variety to their menu. From tacos, tortas, chimichangas, desserts, sides and burritos and more which was great for its location. I got the al pastor chimichanga. It tasted and looked like it wasn't filled with much besides the meat and cheese but they give you rice, beans, pico de gallo and lettuce on the side to compliment it. Maybe because I drove for 5 minutes after recurrent my food, but the chimichanga lost its crisp due to the sauce and cheese topping and it wasn't my best chimichanga I've had (and I've had a few). I guess I'll go here when im in the area and dont want to travel somewhere further for Mexican food.

Phillip P.

Yelp
Best Tacos in the hood, no more driving to west bumb fuck for a burrito ! I haven't had their entire menu yet , but so far I enjoyed everything except their burrito bowl, chicken was kind of bland. Other than than no complaints, birria tacos were top tier , and their normal tacos were also great.

Rachel E.

Yelp
Best local place for tacos or Mexican! They are so authentic and insanely delicious. I love the carnitas and they're I think only $3/taco! Everything tasted so fresh!

Bridgette Q.

Yelp
They're awesome for so many reasons. I've never felt meh, about anything I've ordered here. I've had their tacos, burritos, and now Burria Tacos. I'm a fan. Also get the plantains. They're counter is always organized and on time. I love support great neighborhood Mexican food. Pro-tip order online via their web app, super easy to use and helpful if your short on time.

Mike R.

Yelp
Great local spot for authentic Mexican tacos. Really friendly and really delicious. I loved all of the tacos I've tried (especially the al pastor) and the burritos are great too! Recommend getting the side of fresh hot sauce as well which adds a nice kick.

Dellwood B.

Yelp
TBH, I'm not a big fan of Mexican food. I eat it but usually because others want it (though I do not dislike it). I have always find Mexican food lacking the complex or deeper flavors that certain other cuisines have (e.g. most Asian cuisines, Italian, and certain American foods); this is true whether it's Mexican food in the US or Mexico (been there quite a few times). I've also tried several other Mexican restaurants in the area and all have been more or less the same. So while Mexican food in general isn't bad, for me it feels bland. But I was surprised that it's not the case with Dora Taqueria. I find the food there packed with flavors, almost reminds me of Caribbean cuisines (Jamaican and Haitian foods are always pretty flavorful). I have tried the chimichangas, quesadilla, torta, taco, and corn from Dora Taqueria and they're all amazing. The fish torta is my favorite and I find myself craving it and I've never craved any Mexican food before. I've ordered there frequently for the past a few months and the quality is highly consistent.

Grabbed an amazing fresh steak burrito from the new gem in Dorchester. They have cleanliness, freshness, and the most important part is customer service. I encourage you to get take out or delivery thru Uber eats or GrubHub!!!!!! And lets not forget homemade sauces Delicious
