Dos Burros Review - Old Fourth Ward - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Dos Burros took over the space formerly occupied by Lady Ha on the BeltLine across from Ponce City Market. And while we hoped for a worthy replacement to the quite good Vietnamese spot, Dos Burros shapes up to be another middle-of-the-road taco spot. A variety of the usual proteins like carnitas, barbacoa, fish, and carne asada comes on corn tortillas with onions and cilantro. And we wish we could describe them in more detail, but with bland filings, there isn’t really much more to say. Abstract neon lights and cow paintings spruce up the walls but don’t do enough to make this place feel like a hangout. Basically the move here is to grab a house margarita and then keep it moving." - Juli Horsford

My son and I stopped at Dos Burros today for lunch. The food was off the chain good! My son had tacos and I had a chicken burrito, we shared chicken nachos, also excellent. The margaritas were also so good. Josh, the GM, was very friendly, service was quick. Can’t wait to go back!

The atmosphere is great. The staff is awesome, but the food and drinks are just eh. I really wanted to love this place. I had the smoked brisket taco, the carnitas, the lengua, and the al pastor. The pork on both the carnitas and the al pastor was cooked well. The carnitas was just very greasy, like dripping from the taco. The smoke brisket was a little dry and missing salt. It was as if they did not let the fat render with the meat when it was cooking. The lengua was just okay. I wouldn't order it again. We also had queso and the ceviche. You can't really mess up queso. That was fine. Although, it was lukewarm when we first received it. And we had to have them heat it up. At the end of the night we were at $300, which included tip. It is hard for me to justify $100 a person on tacos and drinks. I assume that is just the Atlanta beltline experience. All the restaurants are like that. So, I guess it's fine but, not for me. I always rate restaurants as, " would I go back?". My response for this one is probably not. I'm sure others will love it but it's just not for me.

I did not have a good experience here. With so many Mexican options nearby, Dos Burros does not make the grade. They had very poor quality tomatoes in July. They were translucent and yellowy. Not much flavor in my dishes. The torta was just bad- mushy. As for service, we witnessed a patron with his two small children being told to get up and order upstairs so he had to undo the baby seat and carry the kids back up just to order.

You order and seat yourself. This place is in a great location to people watch. My friends and I had an assortment of tacos and one order of nachos. The nachos were watery and really just full of jalapeños. Unfortunately the tacos were subpar. ALSO THEY GAVE ME OLD FISH TACOS. I Immediately smelled that they weren’t fresh and as soon as i bit into it I felt sick. My stomach has been upset since. The bathroom was leaking water from the ceiling really bad. It was insane, i couldn’t wash my hands bc the water was leaking so bad. I told the staff and they brushed it off so I assume this is normal. There’s plenty of other great places off the beltline, so skip this one unless you’re grabbing a drink to cool off.

This was a cool little spot. The guacamole and chips were good (8/10). I wasn't a fan of the ceviche, so I sent it back. It had a weird taste to me. However, the presentation was a (10/10). The tacos were definitely the star of the show. I had the Carne Asada (9/10), Lengua (10/10), and the Smoked Brisket (11/10). That smoked brisket was sooooo good, I had to order another one. Shout out to our waitress who recommended it and said it was her favorite! My sister ordered the churros (10/10) and let me try one. Let me tell you, they were divine!

This burrito changed my life…… it was the first thing I’ve had there and I can’t get myself to venture away from it although I’m sure all of the other options are just as delectable… one day I will find out! I enjoyed the vibes here. Service was great and I had so much fun enjoying good food and music a with my family. Will be back soon.

First time at Dos Burros and I must say it did not disappoint! Food was delicious, tacos had plenty of meat and full of flavor. Drinks were spot on and refreshing! Definitely will be one of my frequent spots on the beltline.

I love it here! Great food. Great drinks and a great time spent. When I go I always order the ceviche, the steak taco or the steak burrito. So flavorful and the steak is cooked to perfection. I love the passion fruit marg and the floral Paloma. The service is also amazing, my servers name was Tori and she was incredibly attentive and recommended great food! Will definitely be using this as my spring/summer taco spot!

Yelp
This Beltline spot was PERFECT for a Friday afternoon. We loved grabbing a margarita pitcher and chilling outside. It was so fast to order and get food!! We ordered a margarita pitcher which was pretty good. But the food was the star of the show. The guac and queso were amazing! And we were very impressed by the tacos. One of my friends claimed they were the best tacos he has had in Atlanta!! Definitely try this for your next happy hour on the Beltline.

Yelp
I've walked past this place a million times and never thought to eat here. Now I know it was my intuition that guided me. A friend suggested we try it. We went there on a Friday evening. We walk inside the front entrance and it is boiling hot inside and they have these horrible fans set up that blow so hard at every table that not only would you not be able to talk to the person you're with, any food you were trying to eat would become instantly cold. So we opted to sit down stairs. We ordered two plated meals that came with beans and rice. I had a chicken taco and the el pastor, he had the fish and the chicken and we both substituted the beans for black beans. I opted for the house Margarita and he had a Mexican Coke. Odd but I swear the young man at the counter was looking at me with that line in his head from the Hotel California song, "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." Like he knew we'd be eating at our own peril. ( sorry dude) Down the stairs we go and it's even hotter there. The Margarita was awful, it was already water logged when they sat it down. The food looked good but tacos were over cooked. Like they pre made them and threw them in some oven and killed any kind of freshness out of them. Btw they only give you plastic utensils NO silverware in this place! The servers there were all surfer dudes, nothing wrong with that, but there was a girl there at the downstairs counter in a one piece leggings suit and was so short and so tight and she had no undergarments on. She basically looked completely nude. It was ridiculous. Eye roll here- but for you men ... oh well. We left and just as I thought within two hours we were both ill. Never, ever again.

Yelp
I came here while on the beltline with some friends. I was the only one to order and I got chicken enchiladas. The food was mid at best and I was a little confused by the service. A 18% gratuity is automatically included with every order so since I was eating there I expected to have a waiter or waitress who would be taking care of us. This was not the case. I had to get up to get my own cup and water as well as my own utensils. I'm not sure what the gratuity is for if I literally had to do everything myself. I also was expecting the food to come with beans and rice as I had asked that before ordering and was told it would but it only came with beans. Overall the ambiance of the restaurant is really cool, but the food is way over priced for how it actually tastes and then the gratuity on top just makes it ridiculous if you don't even have a server. The only thing they did was bring me my food quickly then walk away... I definitely will not be eating here again it was a waste of money I should've just waited to eat when I got home

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that the ceviche tasted like KETCHUP, resembling seafood drowned in a thick ketchup sauce. Sure maybe it's the Clamato sauce, but why so much dudes?? I received a refund for this dish. I was disappointed with the quality and portion size of the food considering the $94 price tag. The tacos were served in soggy corn tortillas that disintegrated upon the slightest touch, making it impossible to enjoy them. (See attached pictures for reference.) The portion of salsa provided was meager compared to the basket of chips, and extra salsa required an additional charge, which was disappointing. The horchata was served in a small cup with an overly diluted taste, an abundance of ice, and very little actual drink content. Overall, the experience was one of immense disappointment. While I am spoiled by California's Mexican cuisine standards, this fell well below expectations. It seems that the establishment's revenue may rely more on its location and tourist traffic rather than culinary excellence. I came in happy and left unhappy.

Yelp
Came here the weekend of Saint Patrick's day with the intention of being able to appreciate the beautiful weather while people watching over good tacos. Spoiler alert, mission accomplished. Since we came on a Saturday around 5 pm, there was a line to order at the register. Tables are first come and first grab so I made sure to take ownership of one of the tables on their outdoor patio area. There are also plenty of tables inside a level down if weather is not ideal for being outside. Line is slow to order but the food did come out in 10-15 minutes so I suppose for good reason. I split their babacoa nachos as well as a bunch of tacos including pescado, lengua, beef brisket, and carnitas. The nachos were very straight forward with shredded barbacoa, drizzled crema, tomatillo sauce, and pico de gallo. If each ingredient was better prepared and season, this could have been a huge hit! All the tacos were pretty good but my favorite had to be the lengua since it was juicy and flavorful. Next would be the pescado then brisket. Overall, I had a good time. Staff were nice and I enjoyed their Palmona drink but would require at least a few to feel anything since I barely tasted any alcohol. It's a cute restaurant with a lively vibe, perfect for the Beltline. I would come again to try a burrito or quesadilla.

Yelp
Great drinks, great tacos, great nachos right on the beltline. We had the carne asada nachos and the carnitas tacos. They were solid. Prompt service as well. Would recommend.

Yelp
Dos Burros Mexican restaurant located off Eastside Beltline, going down steps to access restaurant. Dos Burros is known for their delicious tasting Tacos & Unforgettable Margaritas! If you're in search for a chilled bar patio vibe & friendly service off the Beltline, it's Dos Burros. We had the pleasure of being served by our waitress Cindy and Bartender Josh, both gave excellent service. One thing about me, I'm going to give Kudos, when my service is exceptional. Dos Burros, is a casual spot, they have indoor & outdoor seating with hight-top tables on the Patio. The location is easy to find, near Ponce garage parking. See landmarks below. Dos Burros is another great place for groups, lunch dates & date nights. My overall experience was great. My go-to are the Carne Asada, Skinny Margarita's, Al pastor, Chips and Salsa plus more. Dos Burros also serve Draft Beer & Cold Beverages. Me and bestie plan on going back real soon. This is a safe environment, soft music background, with lots of people watching. I can't wait to go back. Go check out Dos Burros.

Yelp
A new beltline go-to, Dos Burros is just what we needed on a recent visit on a Saturday evening. We sat at their beautifully done downstairs bar and enjoyed a couple of outstanding skinny margaritas, in addition to their chips, salsa, and queso. Their salsa, in particular, was perfect, and came the closest I've had in a while to the type of salsa I grew up on out West. A perfect start or end to a beltline day, Dos Burros is a must.

Yelp
Tacos were underseasoned so I can't rave about them. Will give them another try since location is great. Don't love the automatic tip since it's fast casual and there isn't table service worthy of 20% (maybe 10%).

Yelp
this is an order at the bar restaurant like a Burger King without servers and they add 18% gratuity. won't come here again regardless as to how good the food is.

Yelp
Can't recommend this place enough. Andy provided the best service and Josh was the best bartender. The food was delicious, but the customer service was out of this world. Will definitely be returning. Thank you for an amazing first experience Dos Burros.
