Dos Diablos Taco Bar

This has become a go-to after-work spot over the course of the last few months. Awesome if I’m at work late and need a bite to eat and a drink (or several!) before heading home. Rarely hang out past 8/9 but seems like they have some fun events and promos for college students later in the evening. The bartender who’s on on Thursday and Friday night is awesome and always takes great care of us. Tacos are good and nachos are great. Happy to have this spot so close to work!

This place is LIT. So close to Northeastern University too. The place lights up after 11 pm on weekends. They have Taco Tuesdays for 2$ too. The appetizers are pretty good. Loved the onion rings and nachos with guac. Their kitchen closes at 10pm. The drink options are pretty good too.

Had the chorizo taco and it was amazing, the spice mixed with the egg yolk brought everything together ..... the bartender was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the drinks that were very delightful especially the “naked and famous”. I also enjoyed the green light shot which was different for my pallet but went down smooth. I will definitely be coming back soon

Prior to Boston Philharmonic concert we wanted to have dinner near by. Every placed was packed with at least 45 min wait except for Dos Diablos. They were empty with a couple ppl at the bar. When placing the order we informed waiter/bartender that we have a concert at 8pm but she ensured us we have plenty of time. The first chicken wings arrived in 55 min of waiting...the rest of orders - we've never got them! (BTW the chicken wasn't got either). We had to eat chips at the concert. They screwed the whole Sat night for us. When I pointed it out to the barwoman instead of apologizing she suggested to write a review....so, here it is!

Unfriendly staff, even worse, plays drake all night. You can't change your name just to revive yourself from other poor reviews

Not impressed with the taste and quality of the food for the price. The drinks were solid, but they were sold out of half the menu on a Friday night.

The bar closes at midnight but the kitchen closes at 10. Can’t even have nachos.

Tacos were rather small, but the bartender was really nice.

We had a disappointing experience at Dos Diablos Taco Bar. We started off with an order of Guacamole. For tacos I got Camarones (Grilled shrimp, red cabbage, pickled serrano, and pineapple salsa) and Pork Carnitas (crispy pork confit, chihuahua, salsa verde, black bean puree, crema). However, when they brought the food out, they had brought a Carne Asada (marinated & grilled skirt steak, red onion, cotija, salsa roja) instead of carnitas because they "ran out of the carnitas". The waiter who we ordered from says he had asked me about the swap, which I am certain he did not - I would have ordered something entirely different if he had. The same thing happened to someone else there, as well, which I overheard. Given that we were already running late for an event, I didn't have time to send them back for something else. On top of the tacos being cold and one not even what I ordered; the tacos were quite sad and empty looking. Not what I would expect based on the descriptions and the ingredients on the menu. The guacamole was decent, but quite small for the price. This might be an okay place to come for drinks, but not anywhere I would ever go back to for a meal.

Drinks are overpriced for the quality, queso fundido was watery and cold - I've never seen anything quite like it, "crispy pork carnitas" had no texture and my husbands carne asada taco was burned to a crisp - but we did like my chicken taco. We were excited for a new Mexican place in the area but left really disappointed..

Worst place ever. Cant believe this stuff passes for food. Heed my warning and do not go here!! We got the queso fundido - tasted like powdered Kraft mac and cheese powder mixed with water it was terrible - so we asked for Salsa on the side because this sucked so bad and my husband felt bad telling him it did. Well the salsa was made from rancid tomatoes. So that was awesome. Not to mention the chips were sub par but the only thing we COULD stomach. Literally just bee lined out of here to the next closest restaurant cuz we were hungry. We only picked this place because the menu looked veg friendly (for the hubs) and it was the only place open late - wow how does it have more than 3 stars?!

Where is the owner of this place? Clearly he/she wasn't here tonight. Dos Diablos was a disappointment. More of a neighborhood bar than a tacos place you would actually want to go for the tacos. There was one bartender manning the entire restaurant and bar - about 15-20 people. 2/3 of the cocktail menu was not available ("upgrading menu"). Salads and some of the tacos were not available. The place is just clearly not well run. A few tables were left dirty after guests left. I would understand the lack of service and options if it were cheap but with plain guac and chips for $9 and underwhelming tacos for $4 each, I would totally recommend other restaurants in the area. I feel I lost $55 tonight.

Awesome food, cocktails and space. I came here with my husband and sister shortly after it opened. We ordered just about the whole menu. The tacos here are really delicious -- My favorite was Pesce Del Dia, I love fried fish tacos, and surprisingly my husband's favorite was the Crispy Avocado, the vegetarian option, we ended up ordering a couple more for the table. In terms of service, bar tender was super helpful with suggestions of which drinks I should try based on what I normally like. I wanted to get a little adventurous with my cocktail selections and try some of their specialty drinks. My go to drink is the Paloma, so I had to try that first. I like that they use the grapefruit soda rather than juice, it is a fun twist on the drink. I also had the Bone Crusher, which was spicy tequila cocktail but not too hot. The other employees we interacted with were very kind and overall full of good vibes. Last but not least, the aesthetic. This place is cool. The lighting from chandeliers is just right for this dark and moody decor. The larger than life mural on the wall is fascinating, you can tell a lot of effort was put into the details and the look and feel of this place. This place is great for a after date night, or a night out with your friends. You come here for dinner and make an easy transition to an evening with drinks. This place gives you options, after dinner if you want a change of pace, you can head next door (same location/different bar) to Two Saints.

This place is just plain terrible. I came here late on a Wednesday night and they were moderately busy. They only had one bartender, who seemed quite overwhelmed. We finally placed our drink orders - two Tecate's and 'The Gainsborough' from the cocktail menu. The bartender let out an audible sigh, which clearly meant things were about to go downhill. The Gainsborough was a $12 plastic cup of disappointment. You would have thought I ordered a vodka and redbull or a coke and rum with the presentation. Besides that, it tasted terrible. Straight up sour lemon. Nothing about it said '$12 cocktail.' Had I known this, I would have definitely ordered a beer. If you're coming for a beer or to reminisce on all the bad decisions you made at what was formerly Our House East, it's just fine. If you're looking for a little more quality, I would recommend going elsewhere.

I wanted to check out this place because it looked cool! The decor is great, and well thought out. We tried the pork, chicken and shrimp tacos. They were all very good, and the tortillas are crisp and tasty. We also tried the guacamole which was pretty good. The service we got was incredibly slow, even though the restaurant was practically empty. The waiter took down our orders without writing anything down, brought out the wrong order and tried to pass pork as chicken. It also took 30 minutes to get the check. Other than the service, I would recommend the tacos to everyone!

The margaritas were meh & basically tasted like lime juice. I've had way better from other places & generally expect more from a taco bar where tequila-based drinks are a staple. The guac was literally just avocado paste. There was zero flavor other than just plain avocado. It was pretty gross. The tacos were okay. Nothing special & you're better off just going to Amelia's right down the street for something more flavorful. I probably won't be back because there are plenty of other taco joints in the Boston area with food & drinks that are far better. I was really disappointed with my experience at Dos Diablos.

The tacos + street corn were fantastic! Small tacos, as to be expected with street food, but they were loaded pretty well. The service, however, wasn't very good. It wasn't very crowded, but only one person was working. They were having to go back and forth between the bar and sit-down tables. I think we saw our waitress 2 times - for us to order, and for our food to be brought to us. Enjoyed the food, but probably wouldn't go back just because of the quality of service.

I like the way the bar looks. Not really like the bars in Mexican bars in LA, but kinda like a Quentin Tarantino Mexican bar. The tacos look cheap but taste so right. And the beer is cheap. Ay carumba!

Dos Diablos is great! Affordable and the tacos and drinks are delicious!

Dos Diablos is a great bar they have tacos the set up is nice love the music and they have one of the biggest margaritas I have ever seen awesome place to hang with friends family or coworkers

This place is such a breath of fresh air when everything around is just trying to draw in the college kids. I was happy to come here and find an adult atmosphere which great drinks. The music was fascinating as it was an eclectic mix of a few genres. I tried a couple of the cocktails rom the menu and they were refreshing and not too hard on the pockets. The tacos were amazing especially the chorizo, the spice mixed with the runny yolk from the egg was to die for. I will definitely be returning next time I am in the area

Would give zero stars if I could. I called on a Wednesday night to ask about making a pre-show dinner reservation for nine people for that coming Sunday. The man I spoke to took down my name and told me we were all set. When members of our party arrived on Sunday, the bartender told them that the kitchen was closed on Sundays and Mondays. I called back the restaurant and was told that not only are they not open on Sundays, but they don't generally take reservations. The website clearly states that the restaurant is open DAILY, and that the kitchen is open until midnight. There was even a chalkboard sign on the sidewalk pointing to the restaurant proclaiming "Now Open!" This error left our large group scrambling to find another restaurant that could accommodate us on short notice and nearly ruined our evening. I am a frequent visitor to the Back Bay area but you can rest assured that I will never darken the doorway of this atrociously mismanaged establishment again.

Tried this place 5 times. Service is terrible. Maybe unbearable. Had to ask every time we needed something. Pay more $$, hire more people. also Mexican restaurants should have great chips--here the chips could be SO much better for such a low cost. Queso is so overpriced for the quantity and quality.

There's this guy Josh I believe his name is that works here... incredibly rude to customers just awful. Said some stuff I wouldn't feel comfortable typing out to this girl in front of me. Would not recommend as long as this man is working here.

They have really good margaritas. 56 oz of heaven. Matt G is the bartender on Thursdays, and he's nice. They also have tacos, but they're sort of expensive (for tacos). I would recommend getting like one though because they're pretty yummy. I usually get one chicken tacos, but I would not recommend this for vegetarians (there's meat in the chicken tacos).

We were really excited to have a taco restaurant open up in the neighborhood but there was nothing good about our meal. The "queso" dip was nasty cold and more watery than soup broth - we didn't even want to eat it. My "crispy" pork taco had the texture of mashed potatoes - the flavor was ok. The drinks were pretty decent, they were at least creative and they also had $3 tecate which is a plus. Overall I really hope the quality gets better because the neighborhood is desperate for a taco joint but the queso is irredeemable for a Mexican restaurant

aaaaaaaamazing tacos. good vibes. 10/10 would recommend. neva and mel are great bartenders, the drinks are strong, and the food is great.
