Dos Toros Taqueria

Grabbed lunch here one day, and it was really good. The service was super fast. The atmosphere was nice. It's a fast food kind of vibe. There are about 8 tables, if my memory is serving me right. I will go back there for a quick bite if I am craving Mexican food.

Hygienic concerns (a specific employee is not very clean). She would touch all kinds of things with the same gloves. Chipotle never allows this with their employees. This lady started itching her back with gloves on and kept the same gloves on when she started grabbing my food to add to my bowl. I hope I don’t end up with food poisoning. Food is affordable (than again portions aren’t big enough) and would’ve liked to come back, but the hygiene situation has made them lose a costumer. Please teach your employees the same way chipotle teaches their employees by telling them to constantly wear New gloves for every new thing they switch to. And to be as clean as possible. Food safety is more important than anything when running a food business. Thank you.

2024 EDIT: food was dry and burnt, the place is dirty, verde is brown and icky, they charge extra for fillings but don’t tell you - just don’t, really. —— 2017: The perfect spot for pickup burritos. They are consistently awesome! The veggie burritos (vegan actually) are generous in their contents, taste fresh and were well seasoned and they were rich in guac, salsa and grilled corn not just cheap rice and beans.

Why did I pay $13.87 for 2 tacos? One steak, one carnita. I get it, it's Williamsburg, but that is unreasonable. It's also not even priced on the menu, I certainly would not have ordered this knowing that astronomical price. VERY SUBPAR, waste of money and stomach space. The chairs were uncomfortable as well.

Love coming to this location. The staff are competent, they give consistent sized portions and there are rarely incidents of ingredients being out of stock unless you're going before closing. I always recommend going in person versus pickup/delivery since I feel like pickup/delivery inevitably has smaller portions.

The Food is well prepared and presented BUT LACKS FLAVOR. SALT & BLACK PEPPER are NOT SEASONING. I mean it just seems like they just cook the food as is. Very overpriced as well. The chips and guacamole was more enjoyable than the pork the steak tacos.

Horrible. We ordered for delivery and never received the food. The delivery driver said he left the food at the door and took a picture. There was no picture uploaded and I check less than 2 minutes after it said the food was “delivered”. Tried to call the restaurant and they refused to help. Never ordering from here again! Don’t waste your money.

Nice tacos but very American (for my taste) sour cream? Is not self service where you can add whatever your like, they do it for you and it can be a bit confusing if you're visiting for the first time. They spicy sauce is really spicy so be careful with your choice as they put it on for you. The carne asada was really nice, I didn't enjoy the chicken one that much.

Decent Chipotle alternative in an area with no Chipotle. A chicken bowl with extra scoops of free toppings will run you about $12, which isn't too bad in today's world. Dos Toros also produces new and inventive ways to market their product such as their "Mole" option, which you can add to your bowl. Good for a quick and dirty meal.

I had heard good things about Dos Toros and so I wanted to check out their burritos, since good burritos are hard to find out in NYC. I ordered the steak burrito and was disappointed with how little steak there was, and that it was bland in flavor. Dos Toros' burritos is generously sized, so you can definitely get your fill of Mexican food. Maybe they had an off day, so I'll give them another chance some other day.

4 stars just for the fact that I can get a big ass burrito stuffed full of Impossible Beef rather than the heart clogging real thing. Quick and easy here the day a friend and I who lives close by dropped in to grab some lunch. Good staff who makes everything by order. I like the option to customize my burrito with assorted fillings too. Large and tasty portions for the price. Small space but tidy and clean with tables inside.

I stop here often after my weekly cycling class at Cyclebar. Love the food and the service is always great! I love the walking distance from the L as well.

Danielle and her team are amazing! I frequent this location often and the team always greets me with a huge smile and friendly, outgoing warmth. They always take the time to ensure my experience is better than the last. They regularly present me with options for new menu items or simply know by heart my name and order. Danielle demonstrates strong leadership and knowledge and makes this location a success. I walk past Chipotle to get to Dos Toros because of the quality of service and food. Now and always, I will be a devoted fan!

everything here is great! not only are there a ton of options but each time I come it only seems to get better. definitely will be coming back and everyone should check them out!

** For Delivery** Ordering is effortless, the delivery is quick, and reliable. We love their quesadillas. My toddler is a big fan of the chicken quesadilla and guacamole. I like their salad bowls and that you can customize with Farro or cauliflower rice in case you don't want actual rice. Their food is well-seasoned and they always get it right. We order lunch from here often :-P They also have impossible "meat" if you're into that.

I don't like leaving negative reviews but here we are. STAY AWAY. This burrito spot is vastly different from when they first came to NYC on 4th Ave between 13th and 14th street. It used to be quick, great tasty food great ingredients, great service. Now? The first thing that made me almost leave was the sweaty man asking what I wanted, I'm sorry, but that's just not very appetizing from the get go - but whatever right? Next it was just this lack of attention and seeing my food sit on the counter for a couple minutes. They plopped the rice, beans and meat on the burrito and it just sat there while several workers were having a conversation about something. Finally some other guy came and said, "what else?" in a way that seemed like I'm putting him out. I just wanted some salsa, sour cream and hot sauce - he did a tiny squirt here and a little slab there and then wrapped it up. A burrito was a process that used to take about 20 seconds but this time took around 3-4 minutes. Lastly, the ingredients and taste are not nearly as good as it used to be. The food wasn't hot, it was barely warm. Chicken is stringy, and the burrito as a whole was a nearly tasteless soggy mess. My friends quesadilla was also a soggy tasteless mess (his opinion). What the heck happened to this place? Two stars only because I didn't get sick from the food. That's how low our fast food restaurant industry has sunk. I absolutely will never go here again, no need for gift certificates if Dos Toros is listening! Your food is gross now and your customer service is absolutely terrible. No thanks.

It's been a while since I've eaten at Dos Toros. It was good but somehow it's not quite how I remember it. Maybe they've changed, maybe I'm the one who changed....who knows?!?! I ordered the carnitas plate, it's always been my go to and even now it did not disappoint. The meat was seasoned well and flavorful. With just the right ratio of fat to meat. The fact that you could also get Farro instead of rice is great. I did not expect for it to go together so well. The pico was also very fresh. I'm not a soda drinker but when eating carnitas, a Mexican coke pairs perfectly. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food but the portions are on the light side. Overall, chipotle this is not. It's better, much better. But this isn't as good as I remember it from the days of the Union Square location.

Tiny local Mexican place serving up a limited menu but with super fresh ingredients. You can pick from a burrito, salad, taco or quesadilla with chicken, steak , pork or veggies. All menu items are on an assembly line similar to chipotle and you can see all the ingredients as you are completing your meal. I tried the burrito which was massive!!!! It felt like a new born baby- my friend went with the bowl( Tortilla on the bottom) which allowed him to eat a little bit of the salad bowl and then wrap his own tortilla. Overall the food was fresh - wish they had some sort of salsa bar or extra hot sauce out for added flavor.

Quick, easy, tasty, and relatively affordable. Dos Toros Taqueria is a quick in and out shop. It's one of the better taqueria chains in the City. They now offer cauliflower rice for an additional $1.79, which is a great low carb rice substitute and it's tasty. They also offer "beyond meat" options. I ordered the pollo asada burrito with cauliflower rice, pinto beans, and hit salsa. The burrito was light, spicy, and cost $11.74.

Horrible customer service. Placed an order though GrubHub, which they messed up. I requested a refund, no need to send the missing items. They said "No refund". Then I asked them about a 2nd item that was missing, again, "No refund". Didn't know theft was legal in the food industry. Apparently it is. $67 for 2 bowls for my staff and 2 tacos for myself. And the food was horrible by the way, total waste.

My boyfriend and I were in the area to run errands but decided to stop for a quick bite. I've had Dos Toros at work through them catering and my boyfriend never even heard of the place so we decided why not go for a quick bite. For mid day on a Saturday in Williamsburg, it wasn't too busy. They had many customers dining and ordering but it was super quick to order and find a seat. Customer service was good. Although the pollo asado wasn't spectacular it was still a full yummy burrito. We even ordered an additional chips and guac. Think Chipotle or Qdoba but I'm their own way... I guess. Do note: I love spicy food, sauce, all of that but their habanero sauce... Sheesh it's hot lol. They also serve beers which I saw many people purchasing. Cool option in Williamsburg if you are on the run.

I really like this location. Came in on a Saturday afternoon (nearly empty). Wanted to try the market vegetable bowl. The Farro is also good with this! Of course I splurged and got guac and sour cream as well.

I was really enjoying my routine of ordering dos toros delivery every night after the gym, but they recently updated their website and I can no longer place an order for delivery at night. There's no reason a fast food restaurant should stop taking orders a half hour before they close. I'll delete or update this review when someone fixes this issue, because you're losing $15-30 a day because of this issue, and no one on the phone seems to care.

Best fajitas! Looking forward to going back. I haven't had fajitas like that in a very long time! A true gem! They also play great music!

This place has really small portions or small portions considering the price. I thought that an order of tacos came with like 2-3 tacos considering the price but, to my surprise, it was only ONE taco for like more than $5. Their bowl is also smaller compared to Chipotle's, not to mention it doesn't taste anywhere as good as Chipotle's. If you're going to be spending a good amount of money on food, might as well spend it on good, delicious food. Their bottled tea is not good at all either... All in all the food was meh which is why I'm giving this place a 2 stars.

I received a completely incorrect bowl ... which is annoying, but is especially annoying to me since I'm a vegetarian. I was unable to eat the meal delivered. The chips I ordered were also stale and I only received a handful.

I know-there are a lot of people from California talking about how bad the Mexican food in NYC is, and I'm sure it gets annoying. I am one of those people. But I try to be fair and give places a chance, and I have to say that in my first year living here, Dos Toros has come the closest to recreating a SF Mission style burrito a la El Farolito or Taqueria Cancun. Don't trust Shelly T. a few reviews down who allegedly is from San Francisco and says this is not better than Chipotle. If you think that Chipotle is better than this, I don't trust you as a person and you're probably from San Carlos or something. The ingredients might not be California level, but really, no place in NYC-Mexican or not-is on that level. The construction and constitution of the burrito is really where they nail it, in my opinion. For whatever reason, it seems like nobody in this city knows how to properly portion out ingredients for and roll a burrito. Every time I order from Dos Toros, there are no logistical problems, things don't fall out, etc. And it tastes good. Also, I know it's kind of sacrilegious, but I appreciate that they offer farro instead of rice if you're feeling like having a healthier carb. It's surprisingly not bad either. I understand that everyone has a different idea of what Mexican food is, but if you're from SF and are looking to satisfy that Mission burrito urge, I would recommend coming here.

Dos Toros is awesome! I came here for a burrito, and I got the carne asada with some salsas and guacamole. The flavor of the meat is awesome, and I really like the melted cheese on the tortilla. The burrito comes out to be really big, and it's really delicious. Definitely recommend!

Better places at a cheaper price with friendlier service in the neighborhood, would not recommend. I went in this evening to buy dinner for my family, the order was 5 different dishes and the line was friendly and working with me as we got through them. The cashier half way through started giving me attitude for not filling out paperwork for an order and was very confrontational to inform me that if I was to return then I should not order directly but fill out the form for ordering food. I was very disappointed by the way they treat a customer that's spending $80 at their restaurant in one order. I would recommend anyone wanting a burrito to head to border burrito, San loco or even the taco trucks around the corner from there (tacos morenos or don panchito). You will be treated with more kindness when ordering your food. The neighborhood is not short of good establishments that serve you quickly and with a friendly nature, dos toros is not worth it and I can now see why chipotle has moved into the neighborhood when the customer facing staff give you attitude like this. Avoid.

I love a good steak bowl and have been to many places like Dos Toros. They are definitely not bad but I feel that the amount of meat they put is very little compared to other places. I do think their staff is friendly and are always in a good mood!

This is not better than chipotle. But the black beans were yum yum. We tried the carnitas burrito. The pork wasn't fatty or salty enough. This isn't bad if you want to be healthy, but if I wanted to be healthy I would get veggies or chicken. This is also definitely NOT California Mexican food.

It'd be nice to notify customers that they can't dine in before they already purchased and are sitting down. Wouldn't have bought it in the first place if I knew I couldn't at least eat it there....annoying

We loved the taco kits from here but each time they get something wrong. Last night they forgot to include the tortillas...... and we got extremely sick the next day. Do better Dos Toros!

Not sure why so many people are mad- this place is a good, generic Mexican food chain! Think Chipotle but more fresh and depth of flavor. I had two veggie tacos with corn tortillas, the corn tortillas are super tasty and fresh. Gave me lots of guacamole and multiple salsas on the side. The verde salsa is tasty and they are not joking when they say the habanero one is hot! It has a great flavor but even for someone who douses hot sauce on everything, it has a lasting kick. Can't vouch for any meat dishes but the vegetarian/vegan options are super tasty and good for a quick bite.

Great music, quick service, food is good but could use more flavor. Burrito isn't tasty it was just kinda blah. But a cute spot! The windows are open, the scene is clean with wood and bricks. Pretty cool place, to hang out and have a beer. They service Mexican

#Make sure you ask for the salad dressing, because my salad kind of didn't taste like anything even though it looked like it should. The salad dressing made all the difference in the world. I would #recommend asking for it even if you didn't get a salad.

The carnitas was tender and delicious; however, all the other ingredients were bland (rice, beans, even the guac). I do like how they melt the cheese onto the tortilla if you get a burrito. Large portions, so I got a bowl and saved the other half for later.

Not bad but not great either. Got the vegetarian burrito bowl (veggies rice and beans) I added sour cream, all the hot sauces (mild, medium, hot) lettuce, pico, corn, peppers onions. Was hoping for a better veggie choice than peppers onions and corn- zuchinni, mushrooms, broccoli would be better. The rice was over cooked and beans lacking flavor. Guac was OKAY. Prices are OKAY. Service was good, and I like the layout of the place... but food could be better.

Decent food but service sucks. The service people talk fast and quietly when you're ordering, making it hard to understand what they say, and they rush you along (even though no one else was there). It's like they have ADD or something. Not a fan.

Ummm i hate putting a bad name on anything, but I'm here trying to find some answers. Monday, i went to get a salad, i never get meat, so i had mix greens, black beans, *new house veggies mix??* and usual cheese guac sour creme. I have legit had bubble guts *gross* for FOUR DAYS bruh. Throwing up and out. Most horrible days. Had to miss work. My stomach was legit alive, moving and talking. Idk what was in the house veggies. But that's the only thing i can think of that went wrong. It was FULL, so looked like i was the only one to try it, at like 6pm. It tasted off. Made the whole salad have a weird after taste. But i spent 11$, and ate it. I've eaten here before, because it's close to work. It's not terrible, had some minor stomach issues, as always after eating burritos. But i will not be eating here again. - no issues with the staff or place, just the food.

Came in to order 2 burritos all I got was 1. Place is no good. The spanish ladies working were nice. The black chick that took over did have an attitude and she was rushing my order to get me out which was really unprofessional. I couldnt even order a second burrito. Which I'm glad i didnt waste more of my money. However, food was meh. Was flavorless and bland. Portion sizes are ridiculously small compared to the pictures that the company posts. I was thinking this was better than Chipolte. I was Wrong. I will Not be coming back. Avoid this like the plague. You'll thank me later.

The burritos here are literally sexy I have never been aroused by food before I came here There's not much else to say

Just moved to NY from LA and don't really expect much from the Mexican food here based on my previous experiences and "word on the street" but figured I would still try and get my fix in. The marketing is right, the menu is right, the flavor and ingredients, not so much. I got the carne asada burrito. The meat was not good quality and the seasoning was off. I did like the rice and the smokey salsa was solid.

There are alot of similarities between Dos Toros and Chipotle. The way you build bowls, or burritos is the same. But I found I enjoyed Dos Toros more. I've been here a few times, the pork is okay, but the chicken or steak are pretty good. I usually get a plate and add on all the toppings. Never a let down.

This place is a cheap taco knock off of Mexican restaurants and chipotle(which I am not a fan of). I came here to get a burrito and the food was terrible and had no flavor. When I ordered the nacho chips they were really salty as well. Later after eating the food it didn't sit well with my stomach so something is Wrong with the food here. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to please not visit this franchise if you value your stomach. The only good thing is guacamole here (which prbly had the most flavor).

Wow, this was bad. First, it's basically Chipotle. I didn't know this walking in, but fine. Chipotle is ok. Well, now I realize at least at this location any Chipotle is better. It's a tiny area to work with so while you are standing in line trying to order, someone is literally next to you, arm touching arm, ordering and talking to another server. Then, I happen to be ordering for my daughter and me. It's OBVIOUS. She's standing right in front of me explaining what she wants. The servers are actually ignoring her, & two of them, standing next to each other, are talking in unison to me asking different questions. The cashier never asked if we wanted drinks before she gave me a total. Finally, my burrito bowl was dry. I got everything except sour cream. I got hot sauce, guacamole. Whatever. Gross. Oh, & no bathroom. Don't care if you are a small establishment. You have multiple locations. You had enough money to find room for a restroom. If you serve beans or coffee, no matter what you should have a bathroom. Won't be back.

Chicken quesadilla- not quite healthy, but so delicious Yummy. It is very similar to chipottle mexican grill, but definitely there are limited ingredients (not as much as in chipottle) to choose from. Ingredients are claimed to be organic, taste good. I wish it was bigger, and also I wish they closed their giant windows and door in summer heat, because it gets really hot in there. Other than that you could enjoy freshly made burritos and etc.
