The 11 Essential Jacksonville Restaurants, 2024

"Located just minutes from Neptune Beach, Dos Vatos Tacos stands out as one of Jacksonville’s premier taco destinations. The roadside joint boasts an impressive selection of over a dozen tacos alongside a concise menu of appetizers. The quesa birria taco, complete with a rich consommé, ranks as the most sought-after choice. For those searching for a unique taco twist, the goat cheese relleno taco, a creation inspired by Tim Felver, owner of The French Pantry, features a goat cheese-stuffed poblano pepper wrapped in a flour tortilla, adorned with arugula in lemon vinaigrette and complemented by a sweet and earthy golden beet salsa." - Megan duBois

Where to Find Jacksonville’s Best Tacos

"Food lovers around town know Dos Vatos Tacos is the spot for experimental tacos. The menu is divided into two sections, a land section with fillings like brisket or duck confit and a sea section with items like blackened Mahi and seared scallops. For a taste of New Orleans, try the fried crawfish and andouille jam taco, which is slightly spicy, but the andouille does not overtake the delicate crawfish flavors." - Megan duBois

Where to start! First off - phenomenal service. Immediately greeted and walked through the well designed menu. The lovely bartender, the owner, and the chef all made an appearance and told us about the food items, their opportunities to expand with a full liquor license, and told us a little bit about the history. The tacos were all very well crafted, unique, and the quality of the meat, seafood, and toppings were all fresh! Nothing better than fresh cut oranges with our tequila. Never thought I’d enjoy a meatless — beet & goat cheese taco but wow! Scallop & oyster taco (topped with soy boba) also made the whole experience simply amazing. Good job guys! We will travel back to Jacksonville just to support you!!!!

After so many people recommended this place, I finally went, and I should've gone sooner. If you are looking for a taco that is out of the ordinary, you have to go here. I had a smash burger taco that tasted like a burger with tomatoes, pickles, and little fries. The Hala back taco is so unique with guacamole and hummus. One of the most flavorful items that I ordered was the Dr. Jay chicken bacon jam quesadilla with soup. It's a spin on grilled cheese and tomato soup. My husband got the pork belly taco and the bang bang shrimp tacos, and he said that they were great! The salsa wasn't too spicy and was one of the freshest and probably my favorite salsa that I've tried. There are also water jugs for you to fill up your water. I saw this in Savannah and I'm glad that these are being implemented in Florida. Outside seating is available and it is dog-friendly.

Went on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and it was fairly busy.. you have to order then sit. Taco place that offers specialty tacos.. seafood and diffrrent meat. Tacos are roughly $5.. some may be more. There's seating both indoors and outdoors. Their salsa for their chips was actually extremely good, just the right amount of salt and balance. Bang bang shrimp was amazing, the sauce was good and a perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The pork belly was personally my favorite. It just melted in your mouth. The quesabirria was flavorful as well. I tried their special ny strip asada taco was really good as well. The guacamole was fresh and good too. Quality ingredients across the board. The owner/chef also let us try some of his hot sauce and it was so unique and great too! They don't broadcast themselves as a Mexican place just a quality place to get some alcohol and tacos and in my books I'll most certainly be back!

Google
The birria tacos were good! The vegan jackfruit taco weren't what I was expecting and could have been better! Service was good and I would come back for the Birria tacos forsure.

Google
I love some tacos. I have been wanting to try this place for some time. We went around 8pm. The Birra taco was good. Just not the dip. No one greats you when you walk in. Another customer had to tell us to scan the table and you place your order through a app. Then you share it with your group so your order comes out together. Food didn’t come out all at once which is fine, it’s just different. Pricing is okay. For everything you see we paid $28. Side note. They have free water from a water cooler. You just have to refill. The place is cute and the atmosphere is nice. I will give it another try during the day. 50/50 for me.

We loved the unique menu and tried lots of different tacos. Some were awesome, some were not. Fresh juices were amazing. Staff was delightful. You can sit either inside or out.

Had to go to the County Clerk so stopped by Dos Vatos Tacos for the first time. Great restaurant with bar and funky decor and outdoor seating. We chose to belly up to the bar and enjoyed a couple of thier craft cocktails as well as nice conversation with the two bartenders. They make much of thier cocktails from scratch no prepared mixes, syrups here. We had a Mother of Mango which was amazing!!! It was frothed with egg whites and rimmed in candied egg yoke. The mango was tart and the drink not too sweet with resemblance to a mango lassie. We also tried the Grandma's Peach Tea which was light and refreshing and a great pairing with the tacos. The menu is infused with international flavors along with the traditional tacos. We had 2 traditional beef tacos, a beef QUESABIRRIA and a pork belly Taco along with chips, salsa and quacamole. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. A great place to have some fantastic drinks and flavorful interesting tacos but the chips and salsa didn't land for us. We did enjoy the quacamole but would not rate it the best we have ever had. Overall the best thing was the Mother of Mango cocktail and the Pork Belly taco. We are excited to go again and try some other tacos and cocktails.

Finally made my way to this place. I eat tacos so much it might be part of my blood type. 😜 I had the tacos birra and they were amazing. Plenty of outdoor seating…great selection of beers on tap too. Will be coming back again.

Yelp
Looks like they've updated their ordering process. We sat at a table and was brought laminated menus by the server. Arrived at noon for lunch, was greeted immediately, and offered a booster or high chair for the little one. Seating options include inside, outside, bar, high tops or tables. Menu is easy to read and server was helpful in answering questions. Queso was delicious. Tacos were tasty. Hot sauce options included Mexican and local tastes.

Yelp
1st time here, we were greeted immediately and sat. Our server asked if we had been here before, we said no. He went over the menu and made a couple of recommendations. I will say the music was very loud, if they turned it down just a little it would have been easier to hold a conversation. We ordered a jalapeño margarita which was tasty and a regular margarita which was blah and the kids had delicious fresh squeezed lemonades. For dinner we had chips and guac, upside down nachos, bang bang shrimp taco, Korean shortrib, quesa birra, carne asada, NY Strip Asada Guey and Glen Bell HIGHLY recommend the Korean short-rib. WOW it was so good I had to order another one and my husband said it was his favorite as well. For budgeting purposes our bill was $100. I will definitely go again, however I noticed too late that they had a sampler for $9, next time I'm going to do that, skip the drinks, apps and order and extra Korean tacos!
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
Food service is fast n hot n oh so delicious. The Upside Down Nachos is loaded and yummy! The Smash Burger is small but loaded. The Quesa Birria is delicious. The Dr. Jay's Remedy is just what the dr prescribed. Overall, the decor is very artistic with the food to match. The menu is loaded with delicious curiosity. From the basic taco to the "you can put that in a taco"! Very affordable and worth it.

William M.

Yelp
Ok place, not bad but I think this place may be gone soon. Bang bang shrimp was pretty good, chicken taco was terrible, Korean taco was also poor, the blackened mahi tasted like old bait from a cooler with no ice. Margarita was ok, but I think they forgot the tequila. I like the place and wish it was better, this was my 2nd Trip, last time it was ok. The fried fish taco was pretty good last time. I think food cost is so high it's hard for them to produce a good product at a costs people will pay. That what we "voted" for.
google avatar

Shannon W.

Yelp
These tacos were fireeeeeeeeee. It was confusing when we first walked in because we had never been before and there was no one to tell us, so we kinda just hovered for a few minutes until we found a bartender to ask, so FYI if you haven't been, you just sit and order with the QR Code and they just bring it out for you to your table. The tacos were so good and so were the chips and queso! I was sad that the taco flavors I had come there for were out of stock, so I didn't get to try, but I will def be back to check them out (crawdaddy & Korean fried chicken tacos). The vibe is very casual and self serve for water and stuff too.
google avatar

Yelp
It was a perfect day to go to the beach and we decided to try this place for lunch. The covered outdoor seating was a nice way to enjoy the breeze. Chips and queso were a little on the salty side. It still good. The beef birria taco with sauce was full of flavor. The sampler items were a good way to try smaller servings of 3 tacos: the bang bang shrimp, the black magic brisket, and Korean street taco. All were good and each had a distinct flavor. The staff was friendly too.
google avatar

Cheyla S.

Yelp
Love the vibe of this place. Super close to the beach and a great stop on the way to the water. Service was fast and friendly. Loved that the menu had a taco paying homage to local band Limp Bizkit. I picked three tacos over the course of dinner and they were all delicious.

Yelp
I went to Dos Vatos a few weeks ago and came back over the weekend because I could not stop thinking about Dr. Jay's Remedy! I didn't get to try it last time because I was so full, but it looked amazing. This is a very unique taco spot- it's more of a dive bar atmosphere, but the tacos are different and can't be found anywhere else. They also have great happy hour and Taco Tuesday deals. Two tacos here is really my limit because of how many toppings they come with. I ordered the Smash Burger (holy potato sticks!) which was excellent. It is quite literally a burger and taco combined. The Dr. Jay's Remedy is THE best item on the menu! The quesadilla has this bacon jam, so it's sweet and salty. And then you dip it in a side of tortilla soup, so you have extra flavor. The tortilla soup is also amazing. The bartenders/servers are all very sweet. You order on your phone here (you can order with a server if you prefer), so we had two different servers checking on us. Everything is great and I can't wait to return!
google avatar

LaShawn T.

Yelp
That bang bang shrimp was banging and finger-licking good! I also had the birria and enjoyed the flavorful dipping sauce.
google avatar

Laurel R.

Yelp
I don't understand why Yelp reviews aren't higher than a 4, the food is delicious. New favorite taco spot. Really nice staff. The speciality tacos are so fun and different. I'm going to need to go back a few times to try them all. Really liked the bang bang shrimp and crawdaddy ones that I got. Late night happy hour is bogo margs and a couple other options. I like that the place was low key and not super crowded. This is way better than something like cantina Louie or taco Lu.

Yelp
Ambiance: Place was decorated so cool! I love all of the Star Wars references and... LOTR ! Dos Vatos Tacos has a taco menu on the wall. I would recommend taking a picture of it when you walk in as to not disturb any customers sitting at the table right in front of the menu (this was us and there were eyes on us constantly lol). Service: Staff is very friendly and allows you to sit wherever you want. Ordering occurs via mobile ordering, which is pretty cool. You basically send in what you want at ANY time. You need an extra taco? Bing, bang, boom - send it through your phone. Need another drink? Like DJ Khaled - Another one! Also, not to fear - They'll give you a run down of how the place works, if you're new. Food: Now my family has been hunting for good tacos high and low. If this sounds like you - especially for BIRRIA - look no further. The quesabirria tacos (photo) is really, really good and the consumé (taco dip) is delicious. I would say these are one of the best birria tacos I've had here in JAX. Now run, don't walk, to Dos Vatos Tacos!

Yelp
This is my fav and I love sharing this place with friends and family. Tonight's servings were the special flafalel taco and one of my go to Pork Belly Taco. My son choose Pike Tostada and mahi mahi taco. Oh my our tongues danced all night long. Chris was our bartender and server. He was present and professional. Thanks for your deliciousness Dos Vatos! See you soon..

Yelp
I have so many positives to say about Dos Vatos. Love the mission and that it's not like your traditional Mexican restaurant. Tried it out during a Yelp event and would be definitely going back. Staff - Very friendly and engaging. Love this about the owners as well. Drinks - Can be deceiving because some look the same, but they definitely are not. Each is unique on their own and I enjoyed them. Found them quite refreshing. Loved the one with jalapeños. Tacos/salsa - The salsa is great and has a nice kick to it. Tacos were each different and delicious to me. I couldn't pick a favorite, but the braised beef was amazing. Location - Tucked away in a strip. I liked the location Overall, would definitely go back and if you're a lover of the arts, check out the walls.

Yelp
Are you looking for a very niche, chill, "hole in the wall" place for tacos? Congratulations - it is here! Dos Vatos now has late hours which I could not be more appreciative of; Plus, a Full bar! I do see some confusion with first time customers when it comes to walking in, sitting down, and ordering. Dos V does not have a host or hostess. You simply sit inside or out, and order all drinks, apps, and entrees all from your QR code located on your table. The old set up Dos Vatos had was a walk up, counter order type thing. This was changed to adapt to their full service bar. I personally like the ease of ordering right from the table. I know some struggle with this concept, but since covid, I think this might be the norm with a lot of places. This also helps small restaurants with staff. It's 2023, and workers are hard to come by. I see more small businesses maybe adapting to this concept. Okay back to the food and drink though. Creativity is what blows my mind here when it comes to taco ingredients. There is not one taco I have tried, that I haven't loved(truth!) I'm not the biggest tofu fan, and I have loved both tofu tacos I've tried. Dos is always releasing new tacos, new drinks, adding live music to their restaurant on token nights, etc. I am here for the exciting changes this niche gem in atlantic beach keeps throwing at us. They are keeping things interesting! Most taco places don't really change up their menu too much, or really anything about their restaurant very often. Do they need to? No. But is it going that Extra step if they do - Yes! Details matter (to me at least) Dos Vatos is keeping the pep in their step, and I'm here loving every minute of it. Check them out next time you are wanting to step out of your comfort zone on Taco Tuesday!
google avatar

Martin G.

Yelp
The food was good. The place was casual and welcoming. The service was fast and friendly.
google avatar

Jaclynn W.

Yelp
I've probably tried 8 different tacos so far and each one has been uniquely amazing. Everything from the tofu to the brisket is packed with flavor. The portions and prices are perfect, the atmosphere is cool and very relaxed, and the service is always friendly and helpful. I love the app ordering situation - make your selections, put in your order, and pay right then or keep your tab open. It's easy and convenient, but it doesn't stop the staff from checking on you and making you feel welcome. I can't wait to try more of the menu!

Yelp
Run don't walk too Dos Vatos Tacos! This review is long over due, but let me tell you about a hidden gem in Neptune Beach. I frequent this establishment almost weekly due to me working near by. I have had almost every taco on their current menu, and a handful that have gone away. They have unique tacos that you cannot get anywhere else around. The service is quick and the ingredients are fresh. Cheap beers and tacos.. and did I mention they have a loyalty program. So after a few visits, you can get some loyalty dollars to get yourself a free taco or a beer. If you're ever in that neck of the woods, pop your head in and get a taco. You won't be disappointed. And go for some local flavor, some of my faves are Bernie's Limp Brisket, The 38th Special, and Who's Your Crawdaddy. Y'all can thank me later!
google avatar

Amber J.

Yelp
I recently got to visit Dos Vatos Tacos for a Yelp Elite event & holy tacos Batman was it a good time! Chef treated us to 3 of his signature tacos, fun cocktails, chips & salsa. Everything was yummy! Definitely worth a visit to check out Dos Vatos Tacos!
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Great customer service and pretty unique tacos. Everything was flavorful and large selection of food and drinks. If you're in the mood for better than average tacos, give this place a go, they don't disappoint!
google avatar

Jaime C.

Yelp
When they first opened we went a few times and weren't blown away. But they seem to have gotten it together spectacularly. We went to yoga right next door first and stepped out of class and sat at their outdoor tables. I really dislike the fast casual ordering at a cashier, waiting in line vibe. Not my jam. They have solved this problem with QR codes at the table where you can order on your own and a server brings out your food. Wow. This was genius. For real, every restaurant should do this. You can request a server if you have questions otherwise you are good to go. They have a taco twesday. 2 tacos and a drink for $10. We had 4 drinks and 6 tacos and with a tip managed to walk out for under $50. Holy smokes. Great experience. I always remember to take photos after I have eaten my food. Sorry!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Dos Vatos Tacos is a fun place with an eclectic mix of food offerings in a fun setting. The staff is friendly enough and it really is an enjoyable place to grab some tacos and just enjoy the feast and life in general. I would definitely recommend Dos Vatos Tacos for a meal. It is a fun place and the Ttaos are eclectic enough to catch your attention.
google avatar

Miriam C.

Yelp
My only issue with this place is everything sounded so good, I couldn't decide what to pick! :) what a good problem to have. You sit where you want, order food and drinks on a QR code, and pay the same way. It's nice because it's all at one time. Margarita and trio of dips came out quickly! I've never tried Birria, and I tried it and.. chef's kiss! It was incredible! I also tried the bang bang shrimp taco; also great! Can't wait to come back and try more options!
google avatar

Alexa A.

Yelp
My first time visiting!! I'd never heard of Dos Vatos Tacos, but a friend told they were good and I should try it out, in so happy I did!! I got the trio (salsa, guac, queso, with chips), and a poke tostada, 2 street tacos (1 beef, 1 chicken, and 1 beef quesabirra taco. Scan the QR code's at your table to place an order and pay. Everyone at the table can add to the same order on separate phones and you can pay all together or separately on the phone. Overall great experience, and very friendly service.
google avatar

J D.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times and I thought I had done a review. First off the food is good. Past two times I've been here it seems to be on the down slope. Last time I was able to order what I wanted how I wanted because I ordered from my seat(qr code) tonight I order and I'm told no modifications. It's the same bartender I had the other night and there are like 3 people in here so it's not like they are busy. I might give it one more try but it's a big maybe.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
Very out of the box taco spot with featuring cuisines from all around the world within a taco shell. Loved the chicken satay complete with noodles! Bernie's limp brisket was fantastic as well. Meat was cooked perfectly and it had a nice spice kick from the hot sauce. We tried the dip trio with salsa, guacamole and Queso. It was just good enough to be addicting (quite a big portion) but not anything special compared to the tacos. The Saturn drink was a nice gin cocktail with a strong lemon/citrus flavor. They utilize ordering on your phone and have self service water stations. Can't wait to try some more of the tacos but it will be hard not to get the same first two I tried because they were spot on.
google avatar

Alison A.

Yelp
Wow! What a local experience! We absolutely loved the food and exciting taco options. We are always looking for something different and authentic to Jax and Dos Vatos delivered!! The Nashville hot chicken was amazing and the black magic brisket was epic. See you every Tuesday!
google avatar

Brandon T.

Yelp
First time.... Last time. Bullshit online order app turned a $9 sampler into a $12.+ order. Per the 'app', arrived at predetermined 'ready' time, only to be advised by courtesy, fleeting, staff, that other orders arrived before mine. N/P, I'll be patient, but when my 'sampler' was delivered, so kindly by the chef, himself, I might add, the 'cocktail coaster' sized NIBBLE, For TWELVE PLUS BUCKS, SUCKED. Thank you

Eric S.

Yelp
They doubled the prices and the service started to decline so I stopped going over a year ago. It's too bad

Xavier M.

Yelp
The tacos quality is consistently outstanding, exceeding my expectations every time."

Yelp
Our #tacotuesday selection for this week is @dosvatostacos in Neptune Beach. Drove by it countless times, but never tried before tonight. These tacos are creative and tasty. Here's the lineup: 1. Korean Short Rib - with Napa slaw and spicy cucumbers 2. Who's Your Crawdaddy - fried crawfish and andouille jam 3. Bang Bang Shrimp - fried shrimp fritters tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce 4. Black Magic Brisket- with avocado mousse Definitely recommend adding this taco shop to your Taco Tuesday rotation
google avatar

Katrina H.

Yelp
Great food and ambience! Opens for lunch at 11 and good happy hour. Full bar and delicious homemade sodas- we tried blueberry and it was on the mark! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating! Love that it's owned by a local.
google avatar

Tiffany K.

Yelp
Loved visiting Dos Vatos. Sit at the bar and you can get all the deets on the menu and fun items to try. They even had a DJ on Friday night.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
My husband went here a few times prior to introducing it to me. There are a ton of Taco options to choose from that are very trendy. They have at least 10 different Taco options for beef, chicken, seafood and etc. Their menus are in two boards and then you go to the front to order. The restaurant has a vibe that is more hipster and divey than it does family oriented (thought I went with my 4 year old and the two other couples were with their toddler and a baby). It is possible to bring a small child but the ambiance is more for adults and people grabbing lunch on their way to the beach. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating option. I overheard the owner telling another table that they just got their liquor license approved so there will be a full bar with wine, beer and spirits coming soon. I saw a sign outside that says they have taco buffet options on the weekend from 11 am- 1 pm that I totally would be interested in trying. We ordered the pork belly, carne asada, spicy chicken and bang bang shrimp taco and all were very delicious! As we were leaving, a line started to form with a ton of people waiting to order their tacos which shows that business is going well for them and their tacos are delicious. I will come back again to try the rest of their tacos!
google avatar

Rachel E.

Yelp
I used to really like it here. They've removed prices from their menu, so it's anyones guess now. You could be paying $6 or $7 for a taco or over $10 per taco which can certainly add up. The michelada was missing at least 2 ingredients which I had to ask for. She had to read what to put in it and didn't think to let me know it was missing or forgot it. This may be my last time here, which is super unfortunate. $50 tab without tip for 4 tacos, a quesadilla, and essentially a 1/2 beer plus tomato juice ($10).
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
My favorite taco spot while working at NAS Mayport. About a 15 minute drive from base. They have a pick up/order ahead option. Love the restaurant vibe and food is amazing!
google avatar

Jenna O.

Yelp
Love! The food was flavor town express! The drinks are so fun and creative. Definitely a flavor experience, slightly on the spice side but hey, most people can handle it. Love the ambiance and the staff is awesome. Way to go Dos Vatos!

Ashton B.

Yelp
Terrible from start to finish. I felt like the servers didn't want us here they didn't want to work. They asked us if we could go get our own water to order on our phones. The food came out and it was gross. All tacos were cold, hard, disgusting. I came with two other people, and they both hated everything too! Save your money and don't come here! Taco Lu is where it's at, honestly!
google avatar

Bethany R.

Yelp
Overall a good experience and I love the variety of tacos they have. All of the tacos tasted good although I wish the porkbelly had a little more flavor. The tortillas would be better heated up too. Overall I would eat here again.

Tom C.

Yelp
No waiters. Have to order with phone. I did so, waited over an hour, asked when my food would be ready. Told they would check. Half an hour later asked again, said it would be out in a few minutes. Yet another half hour went by and I asked again. Then I was told my order never went in. I showed the order had been sent in on my phone AND paid for!!. Never again will I go there.

R P.

Yelp
Not the greatest. They tried to be too different with their selections and specialty tacos. The street tacos were not well seasoned. The service was slow at lunch and I was the only person there. The corn tortilla was hard and served open. Also, very limited hot sauce selection and no salsa.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
This is a mild 3 bc the food was awesome! The service subpar. I waited for over 10 minutes to have a soda delivered. This was our first time here and had no idea of the menu. Bartender greeted us and we just were told to sit anywhere. The bar code menu was quite confusing. The deliver boy brought no plates so we had a bag of chips with cheese dip to drip everywhere. Still waiting to have our soda delivered, kids quesadilla finally arrives but minus rice and beans I ordered to come out as an app. Weird Will we go back? Probably only bc food was good. Am I impressed? Nah...taco's are everywhere now
google avatar

Teresa C.

Yelp
Excellent tacos! After watching the taco chronicles series, I have been trying tacos everywhere. These are the best! The steak was tender and flavorful. Will definitely go back.
google avatar

Mallorey S.

Yelp
The tacos are always amazing. We love the variety of options. Service is consistently fast and friendly. The atmosphere is laid back. Our son loves the traditional tacos and we enjoy the more unique options and the drinks as well.
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
Great little taco spot. There were a ton of taco options on the menu and I especially enjoyed the brisket! Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Vanessa T.

Yelp
Awww I had heard these tacos were good, especially they were doing some unusual ones I had to try them! But to me they were just ok. It could be that our stuff had some confusion and was mixed with another large tables order, I saw them walking around trying to give our food to this table they told them it's not theirs then they went back into the back then a few minutes later it made it to our table, by this time they were barely warm. I got the goat cheese stuffed rellenos and quesabirria, i liked the creativity on the relleno taco with roasted beets, it was good but just not served hot made it ok The quesabirria, i have gotten these a few different places and this was again just ok, it was soggy and there was like no onion, cilantro mix just a teeny lil cabbage on it. It was busy and they seemed to have gotten slammed with a large party so i would go try again.
google avatar

Missy H.

Yelp
Had a 38Special, Tuna poke tostada and a carnitas taco....so GOOD! Can't wait to go back! Is isn't like any other taco place....they think outside the box and it really shows. Super nice staff too! Very welcoming.

Yelp
Tried this spot yesterday while passing by and have mixed reviews. Honestly my review is between a three and four. It is located in a smaller strip mall on Atlantic Boulevard so it is a little hard to find. Once inside, I was greeted by one of the owners who gave me the run down. They were a food truck previously and so they offer their food truck two taco special with multiple options. They also have a blackboard with specials in categories of sea and land. The seafood is locally sourced which is great. I opted for a blackened Mahi taco but when requesting with no onions in any form (I hate them in all varieties) the chef quizzed me on my distaste for onions? He was almost rude by questioning me about why I don't eat onions. Really weird. Anyhow, I ordered an order of queso and chips to start and the blackened Mahi taco without the salsa (that has onions). The queso was not hot enough and very bland. The chips too were not warm enough and needed salt. The Mahi taco was very good. The fish tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. I am not sure if I will return based on this experience. They do have a nice selection of tacos so try them if you are OK with onions.

Yelp
We used to love coming here, and while the service was okay and food came out relatively quick, the quality of the tacos didn't taste the same. bang bang shrimp wasn't the same, and they got rid of the chester's chicken which was why we went there in the first place. Margarita wasn't the best either. Wish I could say i enjoyed my experience because the atmosphere is cool, but food was sub par /:

Yelp
Vibing on Star Wars and LOTR, the ambiance is relaxed and friendly. Delicious variety of street tacos. The Goat cheese and Pablo relllino taco was delightful. KFC taco was spicy and double portioned. The traditional margarita would have made JB proud. Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
The people at Dos Vatos Tacos were so nice that it's hard to write a less than stellar review about the food. I visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. That allowed me to be able to speak with the staff and get their suggestions about what to try. The menu on the wall listed their specialty tacos which included offerings that I hadn't seen before in tacos such as fried oysters, chile relleno, chicken satay, or Korean tofu. Given that my draw to the place was the fact that they had quesabirria, I ordered that and a carnitas bowl over greens. When the pork was ready, I was able to customize the toppings for the "bowl" at their bar up front. The options were pretty standard - cheese, peppers, fresh and pickled veggies, and slaw. I also ordered a side of chips and salsa after learning that the queso had a strong beer flavor to it. The food was ok. I thought that the meats needed some seasoning. I didn't find the carnitas or beef to be particularly flavorful and the consommé for the quesabirria taco didn't really add flavor. Dipping the taco in the beef broth made the already soggy tortilla lose more of its integrity. At home, I ended up having to add salad dressing to the bowl to add some moisture and flavor to it. The chips were good and crispy. However the salsa was too thin for my liking. Perhaps I ordered the wrong things at Dos Vatos because my experience was a bit disappointing. Maybe next time, I'll stick with the seafood options on the specialty board as some of those sounded absolutely delicious.
