The Best Restaurants In Oxford - Oxford - The Infatuation

"Dosa Darlings, raise your hands. Now keep them up if you’d also consider yourself a biryani babe, curry cutie, or a samosa sweetie. The good news is you can be all of the above at this South Indian restaurant on Cowley Road, with warm terracotta walls, chequerboard floors, and a gorgeous terrace that’s ideal for pulling apart a crispy onion bhaji while getting into a heated discussion on current affairs (read: The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills). Inside, groups settle in with no intention of leaving for the foreseeable, mango lassis are on tap, and dosas take up at least 50% of all table real estate. Filled with everything from the classic masala to tangy blue cheese and fig, and even truffle and mushroom, the namesake dish is excellent for dipping and scooping things like rich, savoury Kerala lamb curry." - rianne shlebak

Dosa Darlings - Review - Cowley - Oxford - The Infatuation

We haven’t met a dish we didn’t enjoy at Dosa Darlings, so order confidently and don’t skimp on the dosas. RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Mutton Rolls Crispy mutton rolls, filled with spicy shredded lamb—this is a strong start to your meal here. Blue Cheese & Fig Dosa The tang from the blue cheese pairs very well with the sweet fig jam. We like to get this to eat on the side, the flavours are a little too overpowering to eat it with a curry. Masala Dosa Potatoey and comforting, this gently spiced dosa is satisfying alone, and even better when dipped into the nadan chicken curry sauce. Kerala Lamb The gravy is rich and meaty, and the lamb pulls apart beautifully. This is our top choice for a curry here." - Rianne Shlebak

Stumbled across Dosa whilst on a trip to Oxford as it was close to where we were staying & I am so glad we did! The food was incredible, lots of vegan options & really reasonably priced. I had the Mango Kari with Rice which was amazing, a lil spicy but so many flavours. Could not fault the service, such lovely people & they surprised me with a little vegan cake as they had noticed on my reservation it had been my birthday the day before - such a lovely touch 🩷

A really nice Indian restaurant, with beautiful decorations, great service and delicious food. We had their lunch menu tapas, which was great value and diverse to try everything. I’d recommend if you are in Oxford. We will definitely come back soon

The best Indian restaurant in Oxfordshire. It’s a must try one. I ordered a Chicken biryani and Madurai Spice platter the taste was yummy. The staff is so nice and friendly. The atmosphere is amazing. I will post the menu do check it out. For desi lovers it is a best place to eat. I actually went there to try dosa but when i saw the biryani i couldn’t stop myself from eating that. The best place come and try their delicious and variety of foods.

Stopped here for lunch as I was in the area. Whilst i can appreciate old charm, this place is quite dark and dismal. The order was taken quite promptly, however, it took nearly half an hour for the food to arrive. Bearing in mind that this was a lunch time visit and there was only one other person in the restaurant, I found this annoying. The Uttapam was small in size compared to proper South Indian restaurant - you can probably gauge the size as was served in a side plate. Also, the only accompaniment it came with was coconut chutney and no sambar. This had to be ordered separately which I did. It was £5.50. When asked why it was so expensive, I was told it comes in a bowl, to be shared! A bowl full of sambar for a small Uttapam was absurd. The proportion sizes were totally wrong. I strongly suggest that the owner or the Manager go to a South Indian restaurant which specialises in serving Idlis, Dosas, Uttapams and other typical regional dishes to find out which accompaniments to serve and in what ratios. I don't expect to visit this place again.

The BEST INDIAN EVER! What makes it stand out: the food - just an incredible taste experience over a large variety of dishes; the staff, so friendly and helpful, especially when it came to members of our group who are genetically sensitive to spice heat; offers to speak to the chef to adapt the dishes that they could (some are cooked overnight, so not possible, and yet...); the toilets, yes the loo, was the most incredible ablution experience ever (Stephen Fry reading a story, all ladies possible needs accounted for, cleanliness, lighting, scent, just WOW); the decor in general is lovely. Thank you to the person who was so incredibly patient and attentive to my family's needs :)

Lovely service and beautiful food. My favourite is the coconut and jaggery dosa, goes so well with any curries on the menu (ive tried almost all 😋). My favourite curry is the baby eggplant curry. I also like the mango curry - its very different, full of strong flavours. I had the most amazing mango lassi here

Good food but the samosa & dosa we ordered weren't hot, so we had to send it back. They also don't provide sambhar with idli & uttapam. The manager seemed a bit cold in his demeanor.

Lovely food, nice chilled out atmosphere, staff went above and beyond throughout. Thoroughly recommend the chicken and prawn curries. Special mention to the audiobook in the toilets, a nice touch.
