Dosa Darlings - Review - Cowley - Oxford - The Infatuation

"Dosa Darlings, raise your hands. Now keep them up if you’d also consider yourself a biryani babe, curry cutie, or a samosa sweetie. The good news is you can be all of the above at this South Indian restaurant on Cowley Road, with warm terracotta walls, chequerboard floors, and a gorgeous terrace that’s ideal for pulling apart a crispy onion bhaji while getting into a heated discussion on current affairs (read: The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills). Inside, groups settle in with no intention of leaving for the foreseeable, mango lassis are on tap, and dosas take up at least 50% of all table real estate. Filled with everything from the classic masala to tangy blue cheese and fig, and even truffle and mushroom, the namesake dish is excellent for dipping and scooping things like rich, savoury Kerala lamb curry. We haven’t met a dish we didn’t enjoy at Dosa Darlings, so order confidently and don’t skimp on the dosas. RESERVE A TABLE Food Rundown Mutton Rolls Crispy mutton rolls, filled with spicy shredded lamb—this is a strong start to your meal here. Blue Cheese & Fig Dosa The tang from the blue cheese pairs very well with the sweet fig jam. We like to get this to eat on the side, the flavours are a little too overpowering to eat it with a curry. Masala Dosa Potatoey and comforting, this gently spiced dosa is satisfying alone, and even better when dipped into the nadan chicken curry sauce.
