The Best Coffee Shops in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Dose was the first multi-roaster coffee shop in town, and the owners of this popular West End coffee shop — which opened back in 2009 — also have two other locations in East Nashville and Old Hickory Village. While the East Nashville location is the only one with a bar program (i.e. you can spike your java there), all locations offer a rotating selection of coffees from Counter Culture Coffee all year round along with featured roasts from over two dozen U.S. roasters." - Ellen Fort

Ash Coffee Review - Virginia-Highland - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Ash Coffee is the quintessential neighborhood coffee shop filled with stroller-wielding VaHi parents, young adults looking to move the group chat F2F, and those here solely for their thick Vietnamese egg coffee (which has a blowtorched foam top). A well-stocked display case reaffirms that breakfast is the most important meal of the day with pastries like big cinnamon rolls and spicy bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches. Under the cheery glow of natural light flowing in from giant, plant-draped windows, coffee lovers take their place in line. But the wait never seems to matter while perusing fun shelves of tchotchkes a la Richards Variety Store. photo credit: Tabia Lisenbee-Parker photo credit: Tabia Lisenbee-Parker" - Juli Horsford

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Nashville’s Sylvan Park | Eater Nashville

"Come for the coffee, stay for the food. Catch up with friends or snuggle up with a good book inside one of the booths while enjoying a carefully crafted latte or a hot cup of drip coffee. Whichever you choose, your caffeine kick is best paired with a jalapeno-topped avocado toast or a biscuit packed with egg and gooey cheddar." - Kellie Walton

Google
Place was really quite delicious both the place and the coffee. One of the best flat whites I’ve had in a while. Great service and plenty of space to hang out and spend some time. It’s a great working space. Not necessarily a great social space. The espresso was so smooth, milk textured perfectly, it’s everything you want in a specialty coffee.

Sarah Upton

Google
Incredible local coffee roasted fresh every week. Super nice folks. A 12 oz bag costs $22. Oh, get their rosemary breakfast biscuit. It comes with an egg, ham and a special sauce. So good.

Statler Riley

Google
My gf gets the Barcelona and loves it- I absolutely love that salted whipped cream also. I think I’ll get that on an oat milk hot chocolate. Overall it’s amazing. Friendly service. Delicious drinks. Good baked goods.

Amy Cywinski

Google
This place is so cute. Came to Dose to visit my cousin, who is the baker. The pastries, which are handmade and baked by her are DELICOUS. Especially the chocolate croissant warmed up, with the flaky outside and the melty chocolate inside. The cheddar biscuit with an egg & cheese... perfect. The egg whites and fresh avocado, it was like a spread, was SO YUMMY! The muffins... You have to try! The cold brew, hot coffee & hot caramel late was delicious and pretty. They even have sugar-free vanilla syrup and gluten-free items. Dose is a definite Must Go!

Akhelia Gardner

Google
I ordered the cappuccino which was tasty. One of the employees recommended I try a coffee soda. I’ve never heard of such a thing but to my surprise it tasted really good. It was very refreshing. All of their syrups are made in house except for the sugar free ones.

Kenny Ray

Google
I stopped in while visiting the area. I had a pour over coffee and a chocolate croissant. The coffee was good, but the chocolate croissant was quite disappointing. As shown in my photos it had the thinnest little slivers of chocolate within, and it was actually kind of greasy. It was definitely not something I would ever order again. The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was nice. There were a good number of people there so you can tell that it’s a popular place. I would definitely try another coffee if I was in the area again.

Aleah Knotts

Google
I’ve given Dose multiple chances because it’s walking distance, but it continues to disappoint. The food is average at best, coffee is consistently served below ideal temperature, and the pastries are forgettable. If you’re looking for a sweeter coffee, this is not the place to go. The atmosphere feels like a mismatched blend of retail and cafe that lacks charm. It’s hard to justify coming back when there are better options not far away.

Sierra Cleveland

Google
The coffee was great and they had several different syrups to choose from including some unique ones like lavender honey and miel. The rosemary biscuit is INCREDIBLE, so soft and fluffy and flavorful. The green chile sandwich is also delicious. The real show stopper was the tomato tartine though!

Yelp
Have you ever been to a coffee shop that serves matcha, you know they do because it's on the menu and people are holding cups of matcha victoriously in photos ... so based on that you go to the location of the business and as soon as you ask the barista for matcha latte you discover that they don't have any ? That's happened many times on my trip cross country so as you can imagine .. I'm ECSTATIC that Dose has my matcha latte so I order TWO , TWO so I have one for NOW and one for LATER.. I'm a happy camper right now and you will be too if you come to DOSE in Nashville. They are very easy to get to off of Interstate 40 and parking wasn't a nightmare They DO have ceremonial matcha

Yelp
A great spot for coffee and food! The avocado toast was amazing, I didn't expect it to be so massive, I would do the half size next time or split it with someone. Seriously though, order it, it's so good. Limited parking but we found a space after a minute of waiting. Friendly service, cute vibes. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Open at 6am which is a HUGE bonus for healthcare workers/early risers!! The Barcelona cold brew is a must try. They have house made pastries/breakfast biscuit sandwiches. Several free parking spots out front that fill up during busier morning hours.

Yelp
Dose Coffee is a must-visit for any coffee enthusiast in Nashville. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere and the tantalizing aroma of freshly brewed coffee. I've tried a variety of their offerings including the cappuchino, hot chocolate, and lunch sandwiches. Whether you're a coffee connoisseur or simply looking for a great cup of joe, Dose Coffee is the place to be. Parking can be limited in the small lot.

Daniel H.

Yelp
Lots of seating! Service was nice and fast. The food was delicious and filling. The drinks were great! I'd highly recommend the Barcelona!

Yelp
Coffee is really good here. The food menu is intriguing and I hope to try something here soon. This is a nice, calm, coffee shop with both indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Taylor R.

Yelp
Always great food and coffee here! Definitely recommend a vanilla latte or the Miel latte if you are looking for a good cup of coffee
google avatar

Yelp
Good coffee, I normally do a cold brew! It's cute inside and very spacious. I love coming before work.

Yelp
Went to Dose coffee to do some reading and for a little breakfast treat and coffee. I had an 8oz lavendar honey latte, it was okay but not great. The toast was delicious and service was nice. Decent spot for a quick stop, not very aesthetic though. Overall pretty good.
google avatar

Yelp
Very tasty breakfast sandwich, drinks were great, I got the Barcelona and friend got the matcha. Not very much parking but they do have an over flow area by the salon. Very busy but worth the wait or is a great choice to order to go. The sand which was fresh and hot. The coffee was also very good and had homemade whipped cream, yum!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop and nice staff, everything on the menu seems to be very modern like the avocado toast and the corn quinoa salad. I had the breakfast poutine and a honey oat latte, I really did like the latte, but the breakfast poutine was too filling I couldn't finish it, it was full of cheese and potato. I also tried one of the powdered sugar beignet that my friend ordered, and it tasted just like a beer as if it was a pastry. Very interesting since I have never had beignet before.

Yelp
Amazing coffee, recommend if you're in the area 10/10. Very nice people and very clean spot. Close to Vanderbilt hospital

Yelp
Stopped in for coffee, and ended up with a great bagel, yogurt, and a totally amazing biscuit/egg/cheese sandwich. Really good food, we also, had to get the cinnamon rolls (ended up with two - ate one and took one home!) Service was quick and efficient, and the prices are reasonable. The room is part market with cool stuff and part diner - all good!
google avatar

Claudine M.

Yelp
Great coffee, good service... Four stars because it's always so busy! I loved their chocolate croissant too
google avatar

Mae D.

Yelp
One of the best coffee shops in Nashville! Busy on a Saturday morning but they will get you in and out!

Yelp
My partner and I wanted to try a new cafe since we were out running errands. We came across Dose and immediately loved the interior. Everything inside looked really cute and well decorated, seemed like it was a big space for people to enjoy their food, coffee and study. The baristas were nice, but I will note that the main barista seemed to be working all on his own making the drinks - hence you might experience a delay. Based on some of the photos it looked like latte art was a component of the shop's vibe but my latte came out as a blob the taste of the latte was a bit milky, don't really think there's much espresso in it considering it's 16 oz. My partner got the Barcelona drink and it was good when mixed with the cream. The iced coffee itself is a bit too bitter and kinda tastes dry, but the cream makes up for it when mixed properly. The coffee here is okay and is good to try at least once.

Yelp
finally got to try the chocolate chip cookie!! chocolate chip cookie: 7/10 parking: there is another parking lot for dose if you go back in the street towards the dead end. there's a lot on the right at the very end specifically for dose! i put the parking guarantee as 8/10 in my other review, i'm bumping it down to a 7/10 bathroom: one bathroom i give 7/10. normal bathroom single room

Yelp
#fatjared say...definitely some good, and some not so great. Overall, for the area, a good spot to get tasty coffee, but for the city not in my top 10. Coffee shops in Nashville are becoming a very competitive thing, and due to that I have been to ALOT of them. For my grading scale I always take the same approach also. 5 stars is perfect on Yelp, therefore you must deliver a perfect experience. 1 star is the lowest you can go, so you must be literally so bad that I can't find not 1 good thing to say. 3 stars is right in the middle, average. Dose for me is right there. First off, due to location in a densely populated area, they do not have room enough for a better and bigger parking lot, and to find a place to park is extremely difficult. We spent a solid 15 minutes just waiting to park somewhere, only to get a spot that is labeled "15 minute parking only" terrible ROI. The pastries looked amazing, and though we did not try any, presentation is huge for a coffee shop. My order, to keep judging consistent, is always a cold brew. The barista may have not been working long, but was not educated on the set up. She said it was a ntro, when in reality it is just from the tap. The brew itself was good, not a very dark roast and not a punch you in the face flavor, but also not a top cold brew for the area. Lacked complexity in the flavor profile for me. Overall, nothing truly bad to say, but nothing extraordinary either. As much negative as positive for me, and a true middle of the road shop for Nashville. I would come back with friends, but might make another suggestion before the final decision also.

Yelp
Dose is a cute coffee shop in Nashville. You can catch up with friends, have a coffee date or study ! It was flowing with people. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu ! I ordered the avocado toast and the Valentine's Day mocha to drink. Over all, I did enjoy my toast minus the bread was hard to cut through. The parking lot is small, just a heads up you might have to park on the street.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Updating my review- first they expanded their hours to 7 pm, now it's back to 5pm. Still, that allows a lot more time to enjoy Dose! I'll admit, between waiting on car repairs and enjoying the 5pm-6:30 W/F free wine tastings next door at Grand Cru- I've become a regular. Dose is in my neighborhood, just a short walk away. That allows me to avoid probably the worst part of Dose- slightly limited parking, exacerbated by the popularity of this neighborhood cafe. Dose is a coffee lover's coffee shop. I love their featured pour over brews- right now it's worth it to go check out the Coava pour over. It's a classic fruity Ethiopian cup. The house drip is always excellent, served with free refills up to 1pm. I brought my mom here- a chai snob- and she says their chai is up to par as well. I like tea, but Dose has such good coffee options that I rarely order tea here. Also, I've worked my way through the gluten free baked good offerings. In my opinion, the everything cookie is stellar and everything else gluten free is skippable.

Yelp
Great Coffee! Great Zucchini Muffin! Great Service! Great Ambiance! You need to gomto this place if you are in the area. Hands down.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I loved this place! It was a short walk from Vanderbilt University and was so peaceful and friendly. The bagel was truly other-worldly. Perfectly cooked, perfect toasting, and just really wonderful (never thought I'd say that about a plain bagel)-and home made is really noticeably different!! The mocha was amazing too. The people were sweet and I enjoyed my time there.
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
Recommend the Barcelona and any of the breakfast biscuit sandwiches. Veggie bagel also a win

Amanda S.

Yelp
It is not always easy to find *really good coffee.* Dose did not disappoint. I also had the iced Earl Grey Tea, brewed to perfection. The pumpkin donut muffin was still warm and was FABULOUS. There is a nice little gift/ shopping space that would be a nice place to get a little bit of Nashville if you want something more than a t shirt. We were given a discount for using our own cups, which is always nice. Very nice staff and a cool little spot to get some good brew and some yummy food. Definitely worth checking out if you care about the quality of what goes into your mouth
google avatar

Haniyfa B.

Yelp
Discovered this great little coffee shop with on-site parking and friendly staff on a busy Sunday morning. We ended up getting 2 drip coffees, a spinach and feta quiche, and a zucchini muffin.
google avatar

Matthew L.

Yelp
The baristo must've been a wizard because the coffee was the best I've ever had. Creamy, decadent, rich, not too sweet, with a glorious aftertaste, the iced cinnamon & honey latte did not disappoint. Personally I couldn't believe anyone could beat our expensive home machine & I'm thankful to be wrong. Decided to get a turkey pesto sandwich and my goodness. Not what I was expecting whatsoever! Wonderful choice of bread, and the turkey was layered thicker than you would imagine, but again not overwhelming at all! The sandwich I would like to mention however was enough for both myself and my partner which was wonderful. As far as the environment of the restaurant, it was pleasant! Not very noisy, people really seemed to be able to relax & converse comfortably. There was plenty of seating despite many customers around. Would certainly recommend for a "best" cup of coffee 9.1/10
google avatar

Bailey P.

Yelp
Parking is VERY limited. They have a few spots up front and another small lot around the back but it was still a struggle. There is a decent amount of indoor seating with smaller and larger group tables. The noise level is pretty low too which is perfect for studying or catching up with friends without needing to scream over other conversations. I tried the avocado toast which was absolutely amazing! It was mashed avocado on a slice of sourdough bread topped with hot sauce, feta cheese, a soft boiled egg & parsley. It definitely made for some great foodie pictures. My friend also tried the slow motion expresso and said it was also very good.
google avatar

Veronica M.

Yelp
Came here to meet a friend for a quick coffee. The service was friendly and the place inside was loud. We came around lunch time so understandable. We decided to go outside as it wasn't as cold that day. Parking is not the best but it's west end, what do you expect. They have a liquor store next door so be careful parking on their parking spaces. They offer food but we just had coffee. The coffee wasn't bad but it tasted more like milk than coffee to me. Food looked good on the reviews so I will come back sometime to try it.

Yelp
I've been here before but only had their iced tea (which was nice and refreshing). Today I got the Barcelona and let me tell you-- if you're a fan of cold foam in your coffee you MUST try this drink. As a barista myself, I approve. Perfect amount of sweetness and bitterness. I didn't take a picture cause I drank it too fast.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
A bit pricy but a good place to stop for coffee. It is very cold inside with concrete floors and door opening (winter review). The coffee was good, the avocado toast was good as well. The full order comes with 2 pieces of toast. Wasn't the best avocado toast I have ever had but it was good! Staff is really nice. As it is with all coffee shops these days, very pricy. Parking before 9 am is borderline impossible with the limited spots. Only one bathroom in restaurant.
google avatar

Belinda J.

Yelp
Dose. I mean...if you know you know, if you don't you should go. And quickly. This is the Barcelona. It's yummy cold brew with some sweet cold foam. The perfect little sweet while still being able to taste the delicious coffee. Perfect for spring and summer but I've definitely ordered this year round. The Barcelona used to not be on the menu and was just a well known secret to those of us who frequent the joint. . It is now an official member of the menu and you'll see it on the board when you make your next visit. Dose has 4 locations, 2 in Nashville proper (one in East and this one in West right off West End at 440) and two in surrounding neighborhoods. Coffee here takes a minute but it's worth it. The Barcelona is a quick ticket item but just fyi if you order anything else besides it and drip you'll expect a good wait. Each cup is made with care. The staff are friendly and experienced. Food is also delish here @dosenashville my fav is that rosemary biscuit breakfast sandwich. Omg. Yum! Final note: parking here is a bit tricky but be patient. It's worth it.

Yelp
It's almost impossible to have a brunch in Chicago that's NOT great. Nashville, on the other hand, needs to up its game. This was the 1st of 3 mediocre breakfasts in 3 days. We called and were told it was a 10 minute wait, but when we arrived 5 minutes later, it was a 35-40 minute wait. I'm not sure if that was a really bad estimate or just an attempt to fool people into showing up since they're more likely to wait once they get they're, but we weren't thrilled either way. To pass the time, we got a cappuccino and chai latte. It took over 15 minutes to get those, and even though I said we were dining in, we got paper cups. The chai was bad, unlike any chai I've had anywhere else. A strange taste and worse after taste. As soon as we sat down, I ordered the cheddar corn scone with spicy honey. It's a good thing we did, because we were very hungry and our actual food took over 45 minutes to arrive (after our 35 min wait). I'm fairly confident they forgot to put our order in. The scone was tasty, though there was no real spice to it. The honey complimented the savoriness of the main flavor, and was the highlight of the meal. I really wanted to enjoy some Southern staples while I was in Nashville, so I ordered the biscuits sandwich. It was fine. Nothing to write home about and a little boring. The biscuit was kind of dry and plain. My friend thought their scramble was only okay as well. The space is open and attractive, but there isn't really a good reason to be in it.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Overall great experience. The biscuit was excellent and the peppermint tea was just what I was looking for. Everyone was super friendly and helpful for my first experience here. Lots of tables but you may need to share the bigger tables with others. Parking is very limited so be prepared for that.

Jaiden K.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and i like that the menu offers things that most places don't. definitely try their house made whipped cream. it is usually pretty packed so seating is sparse, but there is a bit of outdoor seating as well that would be nice in the warmer months. the only downside is the parking situation- the parking lot is tiny !

Corey L.

Yelp
Dose has best coffee cake I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend. You gotta find a spot in the parking lot but it's worth it
google avatar

Olga J.

Yelp
Gluten free scones were a lovely option. Love this cute little cafe and the service is quick. You can buy cute little souvenirs here too.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for a coffee, tea, bite to eat. Some good vegan options. We tried the vegan bizkit sandwich which was very good. There are a few vegan options but not enough in my opinion. The staff is fantastic. It is a very noisy place, but that is not a surprise. Overall a great place.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick morning pick me up after a long day/night of wedding festivities. I needed a DOSE of caffeine and this seemed like the right choice. I got the Barcelona with caramel and it was a coffee that really turned heads. It had a little sweet and salty vibe but still that bold caffeine moment that absolutely needed. I also got that devilish little egg and cheddar biscuit. That was a really quaint and casual breakfast sandwich for me to nibble on while I decided if my stomach was ready for food or not (Spoiler alert: it was!). I really enjoyed that. After all was said and done, I felt like I was healed and brought back to life to an extent. Thanks Dose!

Bethany T.

Yelp
Such a good cup of coffee! The vibes were high and the pastry selection was amazing! Probably my favorite nashville coffee shop!
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Came here to study with a friend on a weekday afternoon. Cute, kind of old-dark-rustic local coffee shop vibes. They are dog friendly (I met a corgi)! Line was not very long and wait time for my drink (latte) was not long either. Only trouble was finding seating and an outlet. I could see parking being an issue too; I happened to get the last spot in the lot. Overall, would say this is what you would expect of a coffee shop in Nashville!
google avatar

Hannah P.

Yelp
Came to this coffee shop since I love to support local shops while on vacation, and this one was conveniently across the street from my hotel. There was one barista working at 10am and there was a decently long line which made them seem frazzled and not super friendly. Ordered 2 iced mochas and they definitely lacked the chocolate flavor we were looking for. Overall, the shop had a weird floral or botanical smell which was not the most appealing for a coffee shop, but definitely didn't seem to keep the locals away, as there were plenty of people there working on laptops and such.
google avatar

Ariel P.

Yelp
Good little breakfast spot but have a 4 star cause In my opinion the food was pretty overpriced for what it was. It was a kinda long wait for the food and the food was good but nothing super different from the average breakfast spot.

Monica K.

Yelp
Veggie bagel with tzatziki. Words do not describe how amazing this sandwich was, I cannot get it out of my head. I live 300 miles away, please come to STL

Yelp
I went to pickup a quick matcha latte for an afternoon pick me up and everything was just ok. I'm very big on matcha, I normally have one at home every morning, and since it's labeled coffee and tea, I had hopes for a solid matcha latte. The matcha flavor was very mild however and there was too much milk for my taste; it made it seem even more diluted. The menu said it also had lavender honey/syrup (i forgot which) which was the main redeeming factor for the weak matcha flavor and it added a more interesting layer to the latte, however still mild. It also came mixed together, rather than a separate layer of milk with the matcha poured over. Just alright, an average $6 latte pre-tip.
google avatar

Sonali S.

Yelp
Nice coffee place. I needed a place to grab some breakfast and work for an hour while I was waiting for my kids to get out of school nearby. I got the iced overpour coffee and the egg and cheddar biscuit (substituted rosemary biscuit for the butter biscuit). Quality of coffee and food were both excellent. Fast Wi-Fi, music is not too loud, and plenty of places to sit and work and plug in your electronics. There is extra parking a little further down the road that runs on the side of the coffee house for Dose customers if the parking right in front of the entrance is full.
google avatar

Karin A.

Yelp
On a mission to try every local coffee shop in the Nashville area + plus being a pharmacist as my day job, I was so excited to try Dose coffee. There was a nice parking lot with plenty of spots. I got the iced vanilla oat milk latte, which was incredible. I'm fairly certain their syrups are made in house. My favorite part of the experience is that they offer a 16 ounce as one of the sizes! Many of the smaller coffee shops I go to only offer 12 ounce ice pours which is obviously not enough. The inside of the restaurant was big with lots of seating and I look forward to trying their food menu as well in the future.

Emma K.

Yelp
I love dose. It's such a cute spot with amazing coffee and food. I highly recommend the rosemary biscuit. My only drawback is that parking is a nightmare.
google avatar

Cassandra B.

Yelp
The hot chocolate lacked chocolate. The women appeared to eat cookies while we waited an unusually lengthy time for two drinks. Extremely disappointing. I will not return and I do not recommend.

Yelp
BEST AVOCADO TOAST! Dose coffee is an extremely cute coffee shop with a nice selection of pastries and menu items. The staff is extremely friendly and nice. I've had my share of Avo toast and this one takes the cake - I highly recommend it. The only downsides are -extremely limited parking available -I wish the iced coffee came in a cuter glass (I know, I'm weird!)
