Dose - Review - East Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"At Dose, you’ll usually find casual business meetings, writers clicking away on laptops, and neighbors grabbing coffee on their days off. But mornings on the weekends might as well be called Tot Time. Expect to see lots of East Nashville kids FaceTiming with their Nanas or window shopping for cranberry-orange muffins and cinnamon scones. You’ll know you’re a regular when the servers and baristas remember your coffee order AND the name of your child’s favorite dinosaur. Get the Barcelona iced coffee topped with salted whipped cream while you wait for a gigantic egg and cheddar biscuit." - Adam Sloan

Google
Great spot for a Saturday morning quick breakfast and some 2-4-1 mimosa! We had the veggie bagel with hummus spread and spicy egg sandwich. Both were delicious, we will definitely be back!

Google
Overall decent place I got the 🥑 avocado toast. It was pretty good just wasn’t that impressed by it. The service was good inside very hard for me to find a parking spot.

Scott Grytza

Google
The overall experience was good but the food was exceptional. Creative and perfectly balanced combinations. They have a coconut chocolate scone that was really good but for me the Avocado toast was awesome. Best I’ve ever had. We had a veggie bagel as well and it was great. I got it with hummus and the hummus was fantastic. Highly recommend!!!

Kati Murphy

Google
Cute spot with a clean, airy vibe. The salted whipped cream they put in some of their drinks like the Barcelona iced coffee was so. Good. We tried the turkey pesto sandwich and the curried chickpea sandwich. The bread tasted fresh and both sandwiches were delicious. Their signs advertised a Happy Hour from 3-5 that included $2 off beers.

Google
A reliable neighborhood gem. The coffee is consistently good, service is always prompt, and the space is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome every time — a solid go-to spot for a daily coffee or a quick catch-up with a friend. Parking can be tight but it’s not impossible to find if their specific spots are taken. Rosemary biscuit, coconut macaroons, and side of potatoes are some favorites of mine. Barcelona, cappuccino, and iced chai as well

Google
This place has a perfect atmosphere for travelers to feel like they are apart of the local community. I had dietary restrictions and the waitress helped me find the perfect meals without milk. Vegan options are amazing too. It was a great stop to chat and catch up with friends. There are sir-down options as well as a to go line.

Google
Stopped by because I saw it has good reviews and I have to agree. Our waiter was super sweet and the drinks were awesome. However the vegan scone we got literally blew me away!! I’ll definitely be back 💖

Google
Went to this location for the first time to meet up with a friend. We got our coffee at the counter and went to sit down at one of the open tables. Immediately after sitting down, we were approached by one of the workers and told that we weren’t allowed to sit down and had to move because we didn’t order directly from them. I mentioned that I didn’t realize we had to order from them to sit at a table because the other location doesn’t do that, and she replied by saying yeah we do things different and we might need this table because we are busy. No one was standing around waiting for a table. I completely get that they may do things differently but I felt like the situation could’ve been approached differently. The entire thing felt very uncomfortable and embarrassing. I will not be returning.

Yelp
Several vegan options on the menu. Great service. Highly recommend. I went with 6 other people and everyone seems to really enjoy their meal.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get work done in the city! Though it's usually busy, it doesn't feel loud or cramped. The food is good quality, as are the beverages. I like that the pastry and food offerings rotate seasonally as well

Yelp
We stopped in for an afternoon treat on a Sunday after staying nearby for the week. You can tell this business takes a lot of pride in the food and drinks that they sell. After reading the description of the Barcelona, I was sold. This is probably the best cold brew beverage I've ever had! The cold brew was perfectly smooth and balanced, and the whipped cream that they make to top this drink is nothing if not magical. It's thick and creamy without being overpowered with any sweetener or artificial flavor, as you drink the coffee and mix it together, it makes such a winning combination. I will be dreaming of this coffee. We also tried some Boston cream cake and coffee cake. The baked goods all looked amazing, the Boston cream cake was SUPER rich and a huge slice, and the coffee cake was perfectly crisped and not too sweet. All in all, this was a great stop. I didn't expect to see so many food and drink options, we would definitely come back next time we visit to try more things (and especially for that Barcelona). Service was standard, I felt the two working were hustling trying to keep all of the customers helped. Ambiance was on point, good music and open layout with lots of seating and unique decor.

Brett P.

Yelp
Rude cashier. Stared coldly at me, never asking "what can I get you?" Then after I thanked her, she remained silent with resting you know what face. Dreary ambience as well. Didn't even pickup my coffee, just left.

Yelp
The coffee service was great. We ordered a couple of breakfast burritos and although it took a while to arrive, the food was good. Plenty of room inside.

Yelp
Incredible coffee, wonderful breakfast and lunch options and good vibes. Dose has everything you want out of a coffee shop and cafe. Services was fast, space is large and food came quickly. They have high chairs and this was the perfect spot to hang with a friends plus a 6 month old for lunch. The street corn quinoa salad was unique and the reason I will go back again. Also, there's parking in this cute little area of East Nashville.

Yelp
I had lunch nearby and wanted to pick up a coffee before making my way back to work. The coffee shop is adorable and the kind of place you want to spend hours in reading a good book, working or catching up with a friend. There is a dining area with service and an order to go counter. I ordered a giant chocolate chip cookie that looked out of this world in the display case and a matcha latte. The cookie was good not great. I can't pinpoint why it wasn't great but my expectations may have been too high based on how good it looked. And then I wait and waited for my latte. None of the staff would make eye contact with me and my coworker while we waited for our drinks. The staff were clearly prioritizing the orders of customers who were seated. It was very frustrating to the point that I almost asked for my money back so I could leave....it took that long. I would never go back for a to-go coffee but if I had time to sit and enjoy the ambiance I would. My latte was good but the service soured my experience.
google avatar

Brenda A.

Yelp
Ordered coffee to go and the wait was pretty long. Probably a good place to sit and eat at if you have time but not if you're in a hurry.
google avatar

Kelly M.

Yelp
Coffee is fantastic, the ambiance is perfect for conversation or just a relaxing Saturday morning, but my favorite thing about Dose is their scones. Oh man they are delicious.
google avatar

Brianna M.

Yelp
Overall this place is very unwelcoming and over priced. It was $80 for 4 people to get coffees and a bite to eat and I think that's ridiculous for breakfast. The meals didn't even come with sides. We asked a question about cold foam and were rudely told they have "whipped cream". Which is fine but the way they said it was rude. We overall we won't be going back.
google avatar

Deanie R.

Yelp
Came for the pour over cause that is what they advertised. The server said they were sold out. I guess he doesn't know we drink pour over at home everyday. So unless they are sold out of fresh ground coffee and hot water (this is a coffeehouse by the way) I don't see how they are sold out. I do see them not wanting to make it cause it's a timely process. But if that's the case, don't advertise it. P.S. it was a Tuesday morning at 10:30. Not busy at Al.
google avatar

Yelp
Dose is located in the cutest Nashville neighborhood worthy of a walk after your coffee or breakfast. Plenty of indoor seating and WiFi are available as well as whole bean coffee, coffee accessories, wine and food gift items. Dose is the perfect union of great coffee and flakey buttery biscuits and a must while sightseeing Nashville's east side.
google avatar

Nicole T.

Yelp
Ordered breakfast online through their website which was very easy. The food was done on time, and the drinks are made once you arrive for your food to ensure it's fresh. The food was delicious and very filling. I can see why the place was packed on a Sunday morning!
google avatar

Paul A.

Yelp
The Barcelona is *chef's kiss*. Paired with a goat cheese and chive scone. Nothing could ruin your day after that combo.

Yelp
I have been to the Dose location on Murphy Road several times, but I had never been to this East Nashville location. My husband and I wanted to grab a coffee before meeting a friend for brunch at lou a couple of weeks ago and we stopped at Dose since it's just down the street. The coffee and pastries are as good as at the Murphy Road location, but this location was insanely busy and to go coffees were running about a 15-20 minute wait. There were so many of us standing around waiting for our coffees that it would have made me a little claustrophobic even in pre-pandemic times. The staff were all very nice, but it was just too busy to be functional. If I'd know how long the waits would be or how crowded it would be, I probably would have stopped elsewhere on the drive to lou. Probably fine at non-rush times (we were there between 10 and 11 on a Sunday - a mad time to be at a coffee shop in East Nashville), but I wouldn't go back at a busy time on a weekend again.

Yelp
Dose is the perfect spot to come to whether you want to work, read, eat, or sip. They have seating for everyone and then some. Their menu is good although I only indulged in a tea this time. They value their customers and by that I mean... the server I had forgot my tea. I assumed as much but was tired and really didn't feel like mentioning it. The place was busy and I've been in that situation too. Needless to say she stopped by and realized what had happened. She brought me my tea and then went off. About an hour later as I was done working and ready to leave I realized no money had been exchanged. I went to the register and one of the other staff members politely said, "It's on her, sorry she forgot!". Even though it was just a tea, that's above and beyond. It proves that the staff values the business and customers alike. I would definitely come back again when I'm in town.

Yelp
Cute and friendly coffee bar. Staff was friendly and quick. I got a lattee with Almond Milk and it was around $4-5 Would return!
google avatar

Kelli J.

Yelp
Love this place, in a cute neighborhood. Good coffee good food. Love the bar-top seating for a early breakfast. Can be pricy for breakfast but coffee was great, with several different drip coffees as well. Will come back!

Yelp
We stumbled upon dose after striking out at another spot due to Sunday closure. Dose was a hidden treasure! In an un-assuming section of east Nashville, dose caters to quick drop in "coffee house style" order at the counter OR sit down style dining. Dose also Carrie's great coffee like Crema And Counter Culture from the neighboring Carolina's. We opted to sit and were provided a great menu selection with tons of sides as well as vegan food options. We spied a cinnamon roll on n the to-go case and much to our surprise they let us order it for the table with a quick toasting in the oven... YUM We ordered the ham and egg biscuit + the turkey breakfast sandwich and both were very filling paired with the cinnamon roll. The menu had 2-3 other items we definitely wanted to try as well so we will certainly be back! Boozy notes- we did not drink while here (SHOCKING) but it looks like Dose has an ample bar and may cater to happy hour drinking as well as your standard boozy brunch selection! Hit this spot, it's a gem.

Yelp
I wish I lived closer but it's probably good I don't because I would be there all the time! They have the best peach white iced tea hands down! Also tried their pumpkin donut muffin which was incredible! I've heard their coffee is amazing too but haven't tried it!

Brent A.

Yelp
While seemingly quite popular, I have not yet had a pleasant experience visiting Dose. Ok, out of 4-5 visits, maybe 1 was mediocre. The food was very good, the coffee was average, and the service has been subpar each time. Service, friendliness, and making a customer feel welcome are all major aspects of a successful business, and Dose continually falls short in these aspects.

Yelp
This spot is dope! The vibe is really nice and homey. The staff are really sweet and polite. As a BIPOC identifying person and a traveler (passing thru) to Nashville I felt safe here and welcomed. My husband and I choose this spot for breakfast and coffee last minute before heading out of Nashville. We went because reviewers said they had GF (gluten free options). As someone who is GF sensitive I haven't had a scone in years because they are hard to find GF but this location had lots of GF options from gf bread and gf pastries, including an AMAZING cinnamon scone! I loved the scone a lot and will dream of it. Who ever is the baker or chef WELL DONE! I see you boo! We got the veggie sandwich gf and BLT. Good options. As a lover of chai lattes the chai hit the spot and was very good. Not too sweet and not ver powered with milk. This spot has plenty of options for folx with dietary restrictions. Next time I come to Nashville I will visit again.

Yelp
Based on recommendations we chose Dose for our first Nashville breakfast on our Labor Day weekend trip. The coffee is excellent and half n half is available. Hubby had a breakfast BLT sandwich, I had a rosemary biscuit sandwich and shared the yogurt parfait. We really enjoyed the coffee and the food! Note that the yogurt parfait is just fruit and unsweetened yogurt, which is perfect for part of a healthy breakfast.

Lindsey R.

Yelp
I'm don't recommend going on a weekend, particularly if you just want to grab a to-go coffee. Wait times are long 15-20 minutes or longer, just for an espresso drink, even when they are not full. They just can't seem to figure it out. It's a bummer because it's a great neighborhood spot with great people working there.

Bronwyn C.

Yelp
Love the coffee here! I had gotten the coffee plenty of times and decided to try the breakfast recently! Their avocado toast is so good! Everyone working there is so nice, my order has never been messed up. I will never not recommend Dose!
google avatar

Ceile P.

Yelp
We were looking for a new place to have brunch and so glad we decided on Dose Cafe and Dram Bar. The food was amazing and the serving staff were very attentive and friendly. Jordan was our server and she rocked it with her big, pretty smile. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

J. B.

Yelp
The best coffee house in Nashville. Thoughtfully prepared dishes, fresh ingredients, perfect coffee, and gracious staff all within a great atmosphere.

JD M.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! The sit down service is superb with friendly and efficient wait staff. It's great for breakfast (they have other food and bar service!), and I will limit my comments to breakfast and coffee. They have unique breakfast selections of which I tried three over three days while visiting Nashville. The Rosemary biscuit is what seems to be most popular and it's great with egg and ham, and they also have a cheddar and egg biscuit that is also scrumptious, but my favorite was the avocado toast with soft boiled egg and jalapeño. The coffee! The house blend drip, free refills is the best, unique flavor from a North Carolina roaster. They also have pour over and a full selection of espresso drinks prepared by a master barista. Don't pass on it if you're visiting Nashville!

Amy M.

Yelp
I ordered a side of avocado with my breakfast and what they handed me was 1/2 brown. Sorry totally unacceptable. If you served an avocado toast and half the avocado was brown would you want to eat it? I clearly made a face when the waitress dropped it off and she made some excuse about the "nature of avocado." sorry no. The kitchen and restaurant should take pride in what they serve. The flat white was only so-so. It seemed VERY strong compared to other flat whites I've had so perhaps it didn't have the right proportion of milk.

Yelp
Dose is an incredibly cute coffee shop & dram bar located in the Inglewood/East Nashville area. I came here for a Harry Potter trivia night, so there was a special, limited food/cocktail menu. I started off with the butterbeer. I've had butterbeer quite a few times at different establishments...and this was by far the best! It was served hot, and had a thick layer of cream on top. The drink itself was a combination of butterscotch, gingerale, whiskey..and it was very well balanced and delicious! For my meal I ordered the Reubeus Reuben. I really enjoyed the sandwich, though I wish it had a little extra sauce on it. It came with sweet potato chips which were homemade, and had a nice light spice to them. The thing that won me over about this place was the pie. I saw it in the display case when I first walked in. I had never had a pear pie before, so I was intrigued and determined to try it. And I am so, so glad I did. When I ordered the pie, the server told me it came with whip. She brought out the pie, and then said she would be right back with the whip...which I thought was odd, I expected it to just be on top of the pie or on the plate. She comes back with this cute little glass dish full of the whip cream and a cute little mini spoon. I try a spoonful of the whip before I go to put it on my pie...and holy cannoli. This is this best whip cream I've ever put in my mouth. It was buttery, sweet, and lightly salty. It was incredibly delicious. I was not expecting to be WOWed by whipped cream...but there I was. I finally managed to pull myself away from the whipped cream long enough to actually try the pie. It was a fantastic pie. They give you a very nice portion size. The pears were spiced and flavorful, like they had been soaking in something. The crust was crisp, buttery, topped with sugar for sweetness and an extra crunch. So, great experience at Dose. I can promise you I will be coming back here again for some whipped cream & pie. But also to try out some of their, non-Harry Potter menu items!

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Why have I never been here before? I was needing a new place to be productive and decided to try out Dose and I've already planned my next visit back. It's an interesting set up inside for a cafe, in the sense that EVERYONE seated gets table service. It's not a get a table, go up and order type of place. I needed an outlet and the tables against the wall had outlets and then the long sharable table had outlets along the top. It was pretty busy, but I was able to find a seat with an outlet. I ordered the Breakfast scramble and house coffee. Absolutely delicious! What I love is that the House Coffee has free refills until 1pm and servers come around refilling the cup. I was never without help and the place was the perfect atmosphere for being productive (not to mention they have delicious food). Park along the front or across the street in a free lot!
google avatar

Tessa P.

Yelp
Best brunch I've had in a long time. We ordered poutine, beignets with jam and a biscuit sandwich. Does not disappoint. 2-4-1 mimosas and Bloody Mary on Saturday and Sunday. Delicious!
google avatar

Sean W.

Yelp
This place has a nice atmosphere and definitely fits the East Nashville vibe. We are not a fans of the coffee and drinks but it's a nice place.
google avatar

Angie N.

Yelp
I didn't realize they turned off their espresso machine after 1 PM, and my waiter told me I could only get regular coffee. It wasn't great. Lots of seating for work, so that's nice, but it felt weird because it was a table service like restaurant when I just wanted to work and sip on some caffeine.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
This place is a really fun coffee/alcohol bar. Food is satisfying (not exemplary). Overall a fun spot to stop by and get a special drink and a bite of food. I've never had to wait here- there is usually room. They have a small shelf of local food items in the front of the shop as well.
google avatar

Allie L.

Yelp
Best indulgent Southern breakfast (biscuit) sandwich ever! Great brunch drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Yum! And great customer service. Love this spot. Feel lucky to live close by.

Ronna L.

Yelp
Love this place. Best coffee. Such a chill space to go with friends ! Service is great every time.
google avatar

Alyssa R.

Yelp
This place is my favorite spot in the neighborhood to grab a coffee. Either on the go, or enjoying in the cafe. About every month or so, maybe it's even quarterly, the cafe rotates through featured coffee roasters. There is a community garden on the back patio. The patio is shared with Rudies and is lovely on a sunny morning with your dog. Many people come here to work throughout the day. I'm much more of a grab and go visitor on a weekday morning or grab brunch on the weekend visitor. On the weekend they have a delicious rotating quiche and -hot take- they have some of the best biscuits in town. They have a list of syrup additions and I've discovered I love a good cardamom cappuccino on a cold afternoon. My all time favorite is the Barcelona. It's iced coffee with salted cream on top. It's also one of the drinks that doesn't go through the bar so if you're in a rush, it's a great choice. I haven't tried the cbd kombucha on tap, but look forward to it! If you have the belly app, be sure to check in and earn points towards rewards and discounts.
google avatar

Steph S.

Yelp
If you're in the area, give it a try. I could see each visit being a Bally of mystery though, it's full of super Instagram ready groups. The coffee is decent, the food is actually really good. It's your average fancy coffee shop - with the priciness to back it up.
google avatar

Rachael E.

Yelp
Wow! Gave it a first try and loved it! Perfectly dosed mocha (moka) and avocado toast with bacon remoulade. (Something like that). I wanted bacon on top and this stuff was phenomenal! I loved that they chopped up the egg instead of having to get it all in one messy bite. Toast was firm which also helped from dropping pieces off the side. It was cooked to perfection! Love the color also. This is one of my faves now! Cant wait for in-person dining. Told the staff it was my First time and they were great in helping me pick and explain what came with the menu items.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
Had a pick up order for the turkey pest sandwich. Loved the sandwich and the chips. Would love to go back and try some other items. Bread was fresh. Sandwich was absolutely made with love.
google avatar

Asia H.

Yelp
The egg sandwich with Be-hive seitan is hands down my favorite breakfast sandwich in Nashville. Their service has never been amazing and sometimes even a little sassy- but it is East Nashville and I'm just choosing to take it as part of the charm. They're not open for dine-in but that sandwich is definitely worth ordering to-go.
google avatar

Meredith S.

Yelp
They have the best biscuit in town and great potatoes too. Their coffee is also great. Right now they are offering curbside which is greatly appreciated. During non covid times there environment is great. I love that out of their tiny kitchen they put out great home cooked quality food.
google avatar

Stephie G.

Yelp
I was stoked to try these treasures when they first arrived. Perfect amount of powdered sugar piled on top. And then... I sliced them open. And lo and behold to my surprise, I found these pillows completely hollow! I'm disappointed, Dose. I expected better from you guys! I've tried your pear pie and coffee cake! Those were good! From my experience in New Orleans, authentic beignets from Louisiana are definitely made with a little more dough inside. And even the little dough (shell) these had came out a little hard. I expected them to be soft and squishy! Ugh.. so disappointed. Don't order the beignets if you come here.
google avatar

Constantin R.

Yelp
Not an inviting environment. If you don't know the routine, it leaves you guessing for seating arrangements and payment processes. They will let you know they close at 2pm though lol.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
The employees used to be nice but the current group are just rude. The coffee is ok but it just isn't worth the attitudes.
google avatar

Erika N.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I could. I am writing this review after having moved away from Nashville and I realized I never wrote a review for Dose and I had to rectify that. I love it that much. Everything is amazing. My favorite drink is the Barcelona, it is slightly sweet whipped cream with strong cold brew and I literally dream about it and I want them to ship it to me. And the food is always amazing too. The turkey pesto sandwich and the rosemary biscuit sandwich are my favorites but it is literally all delicious. Do yourself a favor and just go to Dose. Now.

Laurie B.

Yelp
Everything about this place is perfect. I love the iced coffee, it's the best iced coffee I've ever had.

Eric H.

Yelp
We love this coffee shop. Great service and great people here.We come before a long day at work in construction . It always helps wake us up for the day. They had a delicious vanilla cream cake with berry filling . It's not available now but we hope it will return soon. Everybody try this vanilla cream cake when it makes a return. You will love it 100% .
