Excellent service, respectful friendly and fast service. The food was delicious and the price was perfect. Plus the waitress was always attentive of our drinks and anything else we needed. I’m the space is small but clean and welcoming. FYI kids plates are truly a kids size perfect for my toddler.

Google
Homemade gyoza was delicious. Chefs and staff were super welcoming and had great service. Menu pricing was very fair and you could tell they went through a lot of effort to plate things and present food with detail.

Picked up an order to go to try for the first time, will most definitely be returning. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious. The tempura was a little soggy but that’s on my end for having to drive home with it first. Still, it didn’t taste like old oil and was great. Shrimp was a little small but tasted fresh and not overcooked. Sometimes the tempura veggies aren’t cooked well at other restaurants but these were cooked perfectly- no raw centers. Crazy boy was a cooked sushi and was very good. The spicy tuna crispy rice had no detectable spice, in fact I forgot it was supposed to be spicy until I checked the receipt after. Besides that, it was extremely good. Rice was crispy and chewy and the tuna on top was very fresh. Very sweet sauce that went well with it. Really excited this place has opened up nearby and will recommend it to others

Atmosphere was good and service was good. They just started up. Experience was positive but the seats need pads. They just got their liquor license so the beer was super fresh. If they maintain the freshness then it will make profit. The sushi was half the size of normal, lukewarm, dry, and missing the crunch of cucumber or radish. The tempura udon was packaged udon that you can buy with at any grocery store. With tempura thrown in to get soggy. They also threw in white mushrooms and some diced spring onion. If you want flavor use more fat, brown mushrooms, beef broth, and some egg in the mix. If they fix those issues then I'll be back for the food. Meanwhile I'll come back for the fresh beer 🍺.

The staff was very welcoming and very attentive. There was an open kitchen where you could see them making your food. Prices were great for the quality of food you get. I ordered the spider roll and the Garlic Chicken Teriyaki bowl. The food was delicious and tasted fresh. The portion sizes were perfect. I love how it’s family owned and operated. Such a cute little spot and I would absolutely come here again whenever I’m in town. Next time I want to try their Bibimbap!

Google
Suuuuper friendly staff! That's always super nice to see when walking in! We got the agedashi tofu to start with and I was surprised at both it being a single block of tofu, as well as just how vinegary the sauce was. Me and my partner got ramen, Tokyo and Seafood and both were pretty good! The broth was great but everything after that fell a little flat unfortunately. It's not a bad price, but it does leave some to be desired. Overall this is a place that seems to vary from person to person on taste preferences, but if you're in the area and need a quick bite it definitely does the trick!

Google
Ordered the crispy Goyza, chicken karaage, shrimp crunch roll, bulgogi rice bowl, and miso ramen (spicy). The Goyza was very crispy and good. The karaage was good too. It wasn't as crispy as I liked, but I would order it again. The shrimp roll kinda small. It is very tasty. I really liked the bulgogi. The only problem I had with it was too much rice and not enough meat or vegetables. Personally, I don't think I would order it again. The ramen was very good. The noodles were cooked well. The broth was very tasty. The egg was a bit plain. What I didn't like was that it cost extra to make it spicy. I didn't get enough heat to warrant the extra cost. I also think it needed a bit more vegetables like maybe some green onions. Saying that, I would go back for the ramen again. The restaurant was very clean, but it was a bit cold inside. Granted, it was in the low 30s, but let's turn on the heaters, please. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Please keep in mind that taste is subjective. I do recommend this place, and I will definitely be back.

Google
Visited this restaurant for an early dinner with friends. The place has a very cozy welcoming vibe and staff is friendly too. I had the spicy chicken Katsu curry which was amazing! Also shared some sushi and everyone loved it. My friends had the Katsu don and the garlic chicken teriyaki bowls and loved them too. The prices were very reasonable too. Would definitely visit again.

Yelp
Amazing great boba and food and amazing service ambiance made me feel like I was in an actual small Japanese restaurant

Yelp
Cute Japanese Korean restaurant owned by the sweetest family. The menu has lots of options to choose from. Drink selection is great. I ordered the chicken katsu curry and it was so tasty. The chicken was super crunchy and juicy, just how I like my katsu. Shared a shrimp crunch roll and it was well prepared. I had a bite of my friend's Hulk roll and I think I'll order that next time. Service was great and fast. Definitely a great spot to dine in in Melissa.

Yelp
Wanted to get back on here since we've frequented this place a bit since they first open. Let me start out by saying the family that owns this place is super sweet always happy and the convenience of being so close to our house goes into the stars review; as well as there aren't very many choices of true sit down restaurants in Melissa. Honestly it should be a 3 star review; but I wanted to be generous. Still love the open concept here. Waitstaff is always very friendly. Food comes out on time, price points are great. Our family does come here when we're craving Asian food and do not feel like leaving Melissa. Food still is 3/5 for me on most things and others are 5/5. Overall the grade of fish they have isn't the best, I only get cold appetizers or rolls if I do order sushi. Never nigiri or sashimi. It's gotta be mixed with something. If you eat nigiri at places like Sushi Nunu, Heian, Hannakin, etc. you understand what I mean. I do wish they had more Korean items on the menu. My favorite thing here honestly is the kimbap, kimchi, yummy crispy and ceviche salad. That's normally what we order. My kids like the kids chicken katsu. And my husband likes the crispy rice tuna. They offer a lunch Doshi Rock Box set that is a great value, normally I get the spicy pork. They really should offer something similar at dinner, slightly larger portions for a dinner price. We've tried a few entrees and ramen and still aren't impressed. The ramens are kinda generic with not much flavor. And the bulgogi and the spicy pork bulgogi are a tad "watered" down in flavor. My mom and I cook those often at home and have eaten them at many Korean restaurants, but here they taste as though the flavor is mellowed down. Not a huge fan of that. The kimbap and kimchi are truly the only two things that taste "true" to Korean flavors. I do wish they offered banchan when ordering the Korean meals.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing rolls. We ordered to go, but the staff was also very kind. Definitely looking forward to going again.

Yelp
We found this place a few months ago and were so pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is quaint, and the service has always been super friendly. Since then we probably go every three weeks or so, and we have yet to be disappointed. We have tried just about every role on the menu and they have all been excellent and fresh. The gyoza and the spicy edamame don't miss. And the pork fried rice is also delicious. They give you plenty of food and we are usually stuffed to the gills when we leave. Family owned businesses are worth seeking out, so give them a try. Hope you enjoy.

Yelp
Overall, the experience was positive. I didn't have much of an expectation for a sushi restaurant in Melissa, but the rolls were fine for what they were. Nothing stood out about the experience, but the kids didn't mind the food. The service was good. Though there were a few things on the menu, the boxes where you can try several different dishes for a set price, that apparently they don't have/serve yet. Saw another order ramen and that looked appetizing, so maybe we'll be back to try.

Yelp
Food: Q - The fish was clean and juicy. It also had no bones. Would recommend. 5 stars Z - The tonkatsu ramen is good. 5 stars Mom - Green tea is an Ito En teabag. Yummy. Crispy rice with spicy tuna was a little too hard. Rolls seemed a bit on the smaller side compared to other places. 4 stars Service: Q - Really really really really really really really really really really nice servers. 5 starts Z - Really really good servers and service. 5 stars Mom - Wednesday night and it was a bit slow to get the food out. Servers though were really nice! 4 stars Ambiance: Q - Lighting is really nice and I like the modernness. 5 stars Z - Loud and I like the music. 4 stars Mom - pretty standard decorations for a Japanese restaurant but upbeat music. 4 stars

Yelp
What a great find! I needed a break from heavy food, so hopped off the interstate to try Doshi - lovely people, great food, and superior value! My bulgogi lunch box was fabulous and my server, Hannah, was delightful.

Yelp
I would say this place could use a little work. The food that we had was just ok. Fried rice and poke bowl were both way simple and nothing extraordinary. Some areas of improvement might be...nix the tv/radio combo (it's just too much noise when trying to eat), tone down the lights during the evening for ambiance, perhaps give more options and veggies to poke and fried rice both, also maybe switch to sodas not in a can. Kind of pricey for what you got. Service was not great but staff and cooks were very friendly when we left. Happy to have a new sit down restaurant. Hope this review helps for a better experience in the future. Perhaps we will give ya another try in a couple months.

Yelp
People are nice. But realistically the food was pretty meh. I spent $100 on sushi and there wasn't much to impress. The fish didn't have much flavor and there was a lot of rice. Menu is very limited as well. I will not be going back. Koji sushi is 10 minutes down the road and 10x better.

Yelp
What an amazing restaurant and dining experience to arrive in our small town of Melissa! Our family enjoyed dinner here last week and have already been back for a second time this week! :) Not only are the owners incredible people (genuinely kind, friendly, and personable), but the food is equally amazing! We tried the Pork Katsu Curry, Shrimp Crunch Roll, our son had the Kid's meal Chicken Katsu, and we finished with Tempura Cheesecake for dessert. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS, from temperature to texture/flavor, and truly made me feel like I was being transported back home. Our young son also cleaned his entire plate, and this is a rarity! The ambiance felt calm, comfortable, and relaxing, and the servers were very attentive without being overbearing. Needless to say, we will be regulars here! Thank you, Doshi! :)

Yelp
Really yummy! Excited to have great sushi in Melissa! This is the Philadelphia roll and the spicy tuna roll. Both of them were great

Yelp
Second time visiting. Both times have been exceptional. This time I had the spicy garlic edamame, spicy spring roll, and hulk roll( well I thought it was but I received a different roll and it was still good) I enjoyed all of it. I must say the spring roll can be difficult to pick up with chop sticks due to the wrapping. Overall this food is good and I look forward to trying other menu items. Oh and great service!

Angelica N.

Yelp
This is a cute place with great music and great service! The sushi was very good; they even customized it to my liking. I rated 4 stars due to limited menu selection for entrees for those who only eat seafood or vegetarian. Other than that, it's a great place with good food!

Yelp
So delicious and quick. Our favorite was the Crazy boy roll. Love having a convenient sushi place.

Annette T.

Yelp
We had a hit and a miss. The first time we went, we couldn't stop raving about it. The second time the service was lacking a bit. There was a mix up on the order and not everything was submitted. I would still go back and try it again. The Korean Bbq ribs were excellent (1st and 2nd time), the kids teriyaki meal is a good value. The tofu appetizer was not my favorite. Take a jacket because it is quite cold inside. Give it a try and it might be a hit for you.

Ty R.

Yelp
Wait! Stop right here for an actual non paid review. The people giving this more than 1 star are smoking crack, or have never been to an actual legitimate sushi restaurant. if you want better service and sushi, go to HEB. This place is a joke and you're the punchline if you open your wallet here. Go to literally any other sushi restaurant if you want better. This is the only sushi place you can go to and dump the same coin as anywhere except you walk out absolutely criminally starving. Every. Single. Roll. Tastes. Exactly. The. Same. Whats that? Craving sushi? Only place near you? You've been warned.

Yelp
We visited for Sunday lunch. Very kind service and fresh food made to order. My husband had tempura shrimp appetizer and a bulgogi bowl. I had an appetizer called "fresh roll" I think: it was a delectable spring roll stuffed with sushi salmon, tuna , and crab salad. I had Japanese curry with tempura shrimp instead of a cutlet, which made a nice change I thought. The spicy curry was maybe 10% spicier than perfect for me. Fine with rice. The tempura shrimp are large and delicious. The tea is a teabag of high-quality matcha. The atmosphere is no-nonsense Japanese neighborhood spot - exactly what it is! All in all we're happy to have Doshi in Melissa.

Yelp
We ordered the California rolls, chicken teriyaki, and bulgogi. Everything tasted great! It's a cute little place with friendly staff. Prices were extremely reasonable. Will definitely visit often since they're in the neighborhood.

Bobby E.

Yelp
We have been here a few times now and I will say the quality of food here is top notch. You can tell they focus on ingredients and preparation. The portion size of the sushi and the entrees is generous.... I love the bibimbap! When they first opened the ambiance was a bit sterile, but they have sinced painted the ceiling and added a large wooden hanging light fixture that has added some warmth. I would recommend they continue to work on the front of the restaurant and remove unnecessary clutter. Maybe add some plants or fixtures up front and play some ambient music. The service here is always great. The servers are very friendly and attentive. Check this place out. We really hope they're successful and stick around.

Yelp
Excellent food, service and ambience We tried their bento, sushi, ramen and Bimbibap They were so delicious

Yelp
WONDERFUL SUSHI Even the leftovers for lunch the next day was great. Since moving to VA we have struggled to find good places.

Yelp
The rolls and sashimi were really good and the fish was very fresh. Service was great! All around good experience.

Yelp
Nice people great food! Highly recommended if you're looking for Japanese cuisine and Melissa area.
google avatar

Michael V.

Yelp
I do not think we could have made a better decision for dinner out with friends visiting from out of state. Both the food and service was beyond our expectations. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, and some of the best I have ever had, even growing up and living for years along the Pacific. Although I did not have the ramen, the family loved it - especially the broth. Do yourself a favor and also try the Spicy Lettuce Wrap, too. Our server, Ben, was great and it was a pleasure meeting the owner, Max, and his family. Thank you!! Highly recommend and we will be making this our regular and family favorite! Next time I'll add photos.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Great food and service was great will return. Hannah was our service she was awesome !

Bruce Z.

Yelp
Fantastic service. Sushi was fresh and prepared the way you would expect. Second time at Doshi and will be visiting again soon
google avatar

Jatuporn C.

Yelp
Foods and services are good. We have 2 rolls ordered, but forgot to take a picture of it. Missing a soy sauce dipping bowl on the table. Not enough ginger. Mixed tempura and poke are great. Fresh ingredients.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Doshi is the perfect addition to our little area. The staff will always take care of you and the food makes your heart happy. Fresh sushi and the Korean bbq ribs are our faves. We will keep going back week after week.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
The food looks amazing. Very nice casual dinner place. Super clean location. Great prices. They don't have a phone number for to-go orders. We waited for the food, and it was worth it.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Great service, clean, and excellent food! We ordered sushi, ramen, and gyoza. We loved it all!
google avatar

Rose S.

Yelp
Everything was great from the food to the service to the ambience! The food was freshly made, so yummy especially the Crazy Boy sushi rolls and the Katsu Curry! The service was prompt and people were polite and welcoming! Can't wait to go back to try their ramen!

Daniella M.

Yelp
Service was great thanks to Amerie! The food was delicious and so fast on a Saturday night.

Yelp
Doshi was amazing. My husband and I got the beef bulgogi bowl which was so good. The meat was cooked perfectly. We also got the spicy salmon roll - also amazing. The salmon was a perfect spice level and the spice was throughout the whole roll. We got the crunchy albacore specialty roll as well which was soooo good. The albacore was so fresh. Lastly we got the tempura cheesecake with green tea ice cream - to die for. It was so good. The service was amazing as well and everyone was so kind and attentive. We are so glad to have this restaurant in our neighborhood and will definitely be back. We cannot wait to watch this restaurant grow and succeed!

Jamie J.

Yelp
I got my food to go, 2 Miso Ramen and 2 orders of California rolls. Everything was there when I got home. The ramen was nice and hot and the California rolls looked yummy! Y'all I'm so sorry and I support small business but I paid $80 for this. The taste was so bad. Ramen broth and no flavor, the only thing good was the egg, I couldn't even finish it. The California rolls were made with something other than sushi rice and it was not good at all. Again couldn't finish it. Ended up having toast for dinner cause that was all I had at home. Sorry Doshi, but we will not be back.

Moses O.

Yelp
Hot, fresh, super flavorful! The service is top notch as the waiters and waitresses look to get your needs met. The owner and family along with the back of house are professional yet so friendly. Can't wait to come back again and again!

Larry H.

Yelp
1st time in this restaurant today. Ordered Miso Ramen spicy. Ramen cane with (2) slices of pork, (2) small Bok Choy, some sprouts, a spoon of corn and lots of noodles, not spicy. So basically I paid $15.50 plus tax for a bowl of noodles. I was hoping this was a good sushi, Japanese restaurant, but if my first time eating there was any indication, not impressed. Wait staff was ok.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
My husband and I tried this place tonight and it was excellent! We got the mix tempura, hot girl roll (I think that's what it's called), curry pork and miso ramen. All of it was delicious!! Super fresh and just yum! So glad this place is here and close. Service was great. The ladies were very attentive and both helped each other with the tables which was nice to see! Definitely will be back.
google avatar

Naomi G.

Yelp
Delicious! Ordered the baked langoustine, Crazy Boy and Rattlesnake. All were so good. So exciting to have a good sushi place in Melissa.

Martha B.

Yelp
Ordered takeout. It was ready exactly when they said. Hot when we got home and crazy delicious. Ample portions; no leftovers. Too good to stop eating when I should have. Eager to try more 'new' things. We will be going often!
google avatar

Jacob R.

Yelp
Service was great. Thank you, Praise. Open kitchen with an open floor plan in the dining room as well. Very good sushi restaurant. I had the spicy tuna roll, hot night roll, and Terriaki chicken rice bowl. All were excellent. It'll be one of my go to places.
google avatar

Deep E.

Yelp
If you are looking for good sushi. This Is Not the place. I so wanted to like this place as we are limited to the places we have in Melissa. We eat sushi from several places in McKinney, Allen, Plano. While I wasn't expecting Jiro Ono quality sushi, I was expecting more than something I would find at a Kroger or Market Street. The freshness of the fish was not there. While sushi mainly uses fish, in quality sushi you don't smell and taste the "fishyness" of it. Not the case here. There was a point it was so foul or the texture, that as I swallowed I felt I was going to vomit. In addition their sushi is covered with sauces. Sauces should only be as an accent to a dish not a blanket that smothers the delicacy of raw fish. Just look at some of the pictures posted up. Sauces are just dumped on there. Maybe their Korean fare would be better but sushi is definitely not worth your time or money.
google avatar

Erik L.

Yelp
Max and his parents are outstanding. Tried the sushi and the kimachi are fantastic. Went back a 2nd time in the same day to feed 2 teenagers and got the spicy bbq pork, ramen with chicken and Udon with chicken. Absolutely fantastic. We will be definitely be changing our Friday pizza nights to Doshi!

Leah P.

Yelp
Daughter and I have visited four times now and we will continue to visit! I'm loving the bulgogi, she's trying everything from ramen to the Katsudon. Reminds of what we had when she was competing in Korea. Not only is the food plentiful, the staff is so friendly!

N L.

Yelp
I do not recommend I had diarrhea the next day after eating there. The food was not great at this place like people are saying. Unless friends and relatives wrote the 5 star reviews. We ordered the Bulgogi, the mixed tempura, and Korean Ribs. Was going to order something with crab in it but all their crab is imitation. The waitress said they can take the crab out but then you will still pay the full price. I wanted the Tempura you get at the lunch hours, but it was not part of the dishes after 4:30pm so they charged us $6 for a little side of tempura with batter fried onion ring, skinny shrimp, small slice of yam, and one small broccoli. About the dishes- the Bulgogi was not that great had a weird smell and didn't taste so fresh. The Bulgogi beef had a bit of an after taste that I didn't like. The rice was the balsamic kind not so fluffy and kind of pasty. I tried my husbands ribs and they were good but a bit medium rare and very thinly sliced ribs with bones and didn't get much to eat, my husband was not full so he ate the rest of my dish that I didn't like. The tempura was good but the shrimp was a long skinny one so there is not much to eat there. I don't think we will be returning I didn't like the bad after taste I got from the Bulgogi beef had to eat something sweet at home to get rid of the taste in my mouth. It costs us over $40 for a light lunch or dinner. I was thinking after we got home that maybe the Bulgogi they served me was left over from the lunch hour and it sat around without refrigeration. I didn't realize that maybe that's why the Bulgogi beef had an aftertaste. The customers seating inside are the cheapest metal tables and chairs you can buy and hard back benches with hard seats. We were the only customers till another couple came in after us. The decor was simple or little to none. Nothing fancy, very empty place, plain and nothing to brag about here. Oh one more thing we didn't order drinks here because we had iced tea at home before we came. This place serves you canned sodas with a straw for $1.75 each and bottled tea for $2.25 each and bottled sparking water for $2.50. They don't have any beverage dispensers at all. Lol!!! The place looked family owned with mother, father, and son plus daughter walking around the restaurant and kitchen area with baby in her arms and grandpa holding bigger kid in his arms then rushing to the kitchen to cook. Nice that they have a famiiy, but not being very professional serving food to customers and having baby and kids in the restaurant among customers. They treat the place like they're at their own home and not a public restaurant. "Goodbye Felicia!".

Kimberly S.

Yelp
We went for the first time today and OMGgg. This place is the spot. I ordered their crunchy rice appetizer with the spicy tuna, again, off the chart!!! I also ordered their Jalapeño Poppers, fireworks in my mouth. My daughter had their ramen (she is my picky eater) and she gave it a 12 out of 10. Customer service was incredible. The owner came to our table to check on everything and was extremely friendly. I can't rave enough about this place. We will definitely be back for sure and often.
